Reviews for Afon Rhaiadr Country House

Review 1:The toilet didn't flush very well - it didn't have enough water to flush correctly and may have only been an issue in our room.

Review 2:The room was very nice. Bathroom was modern and everything was very clean. Breakfast was also very enjoyable.

Review 3:The entrance from the road is a bit lethal

Review 4:Made very welcome, fantastic hospitality, beautiful grounds, good nights sleep followed by a hearty breakfast. Also my vegan wife was catered for very well. We loved it

Review 5:A superb room with the added little extras. The setting was fantastic and very tranquil. The hosts were very welcoming and ensured our stay was perfect.

Review 6:The breakfast was good I just thought for £100 per night that 2 sausages and a full tomato and full slice of black pudding if you are putting it on the plate at all ,

Review 7:Friendly people , nice welcome

Review 8:Gina and Gareth are excellent hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation is set in fabulous grounds. We stayed in Room 1 Foxglove , a large room with a super king size bed which was so comfortable with luxurious bedding. The room had a spa bath which for some is the icing on the cake but I prefer a large spacious shower. Robes and slippers were provided along with generous tea and coffee facilities and bottled water. The breakfast was really nice with plenty of choice. I would definitely stay again and would recommend .

Review 9:Wish I could've stayed longer :)

Review 10:Was welcomed soon as we walked through the door. Was very comfortable throughout our stay. Hosts and staff are lovely people and nothing was too much for them.

Review 11:Super new bathroom in our room just a pity that the grout was so dirty around the shower and basin area.

Review 12:A very friendly welcome from Martin and Janet who were very helpful to us in printing out the directions to Snowdon! Lovely breakfast too.

Review 13:Absolutely gorgeous property with it's own stream and waterfall. We were served tea and shortbread after checking-in which was delicious, a really nice touch. The rain shower was wonderful and the under floor heating in the bathroom is just lovely. Breakfast was excellent, the smoked Haddok was scrumptious!

Review 14:Nothing to fault with the house. Driveway to the property is on a blind bend in the road so it is difficult to exit.

Review 15:We enjoyed our 1 night stay in Aberconwy house. Unfortunately it was a flying visit. It is a beautiful house, very comfortable and tastefully decorated. Martin was very welcoming. The breakfast was lovely.

Review 16:The sit in the bath shower, jacuzzi bath squirted cold water on initial start up - is this residual water from the previous bather - I don't know and try not to think too hard about it. The WiFi was very weak and I had to stand in the hall to slowly book Snowdon rail tickets.

Review 17:Helpful and friendly staff, lots of tourist information provided, lovely house and beautifully decorated in original style, interesting wooded garden with stream and water features, nice to wander through.

Review 18:Internet poor! Should try second router on first floor with booster units using house wiring! TV signal intermittent, very annoying trying to watch Commomwealth games!

Review 19:Large king size bed, nice firm mattress. Food outstanding! Breakfast great! Ordered dinner ,was outstanding!

Review 20:The staff could not do enough for you, rooms clean and comforable and the breakfast meant that you did not need to eat until late in the day.We also asked if we could bring a bottle of wine back after being out in the car, when we arrived back late at night there was glasses and music on, an excelent touch.

Review 21:Liked the Breakfast TV in the Bedroom ( Good Size) Comfy Bed Peace and Tranquility Great for Country Lovers - like almost sleeping in the woods - wonderful.

Review 22:No negatives at all. We loved everything about this hotel.

Review 23:We loved the location, food was excellent and staff helpful and friendly. Stunning scenery even in the garden which was beautiful with it's own stream and waterfall. We can't wait to go back.

Review 24:The owners went out of their way to make our stay special and to help with driving instructions. The owner-chef is first rate and his dishes were the equivalent of the best food we tasted in Wales.

Review 25:Grat hospitally, very friendly and informative

Review 35:Able to take dog.Well appointed room and bathroom

Review 36:Absence of wi-fi

Review 37:Bedroom & bath

Review 38:Very small room for the price. Room wasn't warm enough. The owner showed my room to people who were intersted in buying the place without asking me. I came back earlier than she's expected and couldn't get into my room.

Review 39:Breakfast room

Review 43:nothing

Review 44:What a wonderful find, everyone made us feel very welcome. Recently refurbished to a very high standard last year and maintained to make it feel like it has only just been finished. All very clean. Breakfast was excellent, and a real must to dine in for dinner, as food was top quality, a must destination just for dinner.

Review 45:The duvet was too heavy would have preferred summer weight, which theymay have in mind as the temperatures had only just started to rise. Wedon't like duvets in any case but realise the advantage tohoteliers. No drinks license for dinner but you could provide your ownwine for which they applied corkage, thought that was a bit much.

Review 46:The food was excellent. Our double room was tastefully furnished but alittle on the small side although adequate for a short stay. The ensuite facilities were recently renovated with modern shower & underfloor heating, no bath. The large garden was under 'renovation'(new owners) but will be formal & woodland with a stream flowingthrough when finished.

Review 47:Room was very small. Was disappointed, which spoilt our stay, to be charged £30 for a bowl of soup and a steak which although nice they certainly did not merit that price.

Review 48:Lovely location. Clean and well presented staff very accommodating.

Review 49:WiFi not usable.Room missing remote for TV (previous guest had apparently taken it with them. Not a big issue for us).

Review 50:Great breakfasts.Room very comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful.

Review 51:The sitting room/conservatory whilst pleasant was not the most attractive or well furnished you might find. Our room was rather on the small side but other rooms in the house were on a much grander scale. It is probably worth being aware of this when booking.

Review 52:The house is located back from the road within a large and pleasant garden and surrounded by woodland. It is very quiet except for the birdsong. The dining room is relatively small as you would expect from a converted house but very nicely decorated and has a homely feel.

Review 53:The owners do not have a full licence yet but are willing to borrow youa bottle as long as you replace it the next day. Very good arrangementas they expect to be fully licenced in couple of months.

Review 54:Very friendly owners who go out of their way to make you feelcomfortable. Very nice dining room with intimate atmosphere and (very)good food. Attention to detail and all this in a very nice location withlittle stream running in the back of the house. We had a great stay

Review 55:Afon Rhaiadr Country House is a lovely, romantic place. Staff was friendly and the rooms were nicely decorated and clean. We loved the having a cup of tea by the open fire. Would like to stay there again.

Review 56:Very helpful owners - even tho' evening restaurant was closed, they prepared an excellent dinner (soup & duck) within an hourof arrival.Building & location was lovely Bathroom & shower facility was excellent & well presented

Review 57:That we were only staying one night

Review 58:It was a lovely Country House, great room, friendly staff and good food

Review 59:They were not licensed to sell alcohol you could take your own but they still charged five pounds to open each bottle.

Review 60:The food was excellent.

Review 61:The proprietors, very ftiendly and helpful. The food, top rate. All the staff were helpful and genuinly concerned with our wellbeing.
