Reviews for Bryn Mair House
Review 1:Jan and Pete are around to greet you on arrival and make you a cup of tea. The rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished with comfortable beds and luxury bedding. Breakfast is a relaxed affair and always "just right".
Review 2:It was difficult to find and the road to it was very narrow.
Review 3:Both the facility and the owners were perfect. The breakfast was superb. In addition, they recommended a local restaurant named Finn where we had the best fare of our three-week trip and one of our all-time best dining experiences.
Review 4:Dolgellau itself has very little to offer in terms of entertainment, the walks however were amazing.
Review 5:Really enjoyed our stay at Bryn Mair House, Jan and Pete were lovely hosts and the breakfast was immense.
Review 6:The house and rooms are very spacious and beautifully presented, with gorgeous views across Dolgellau. We were greeted by the hosts upon arrival who were very friendly and attentive (made us a pot of tea and served some lovely welsh cakes). Breakfast was superb, local fresh produce and cooked perfectly. Would highly recommend staying!
Review 7:Great breakfast and very friendly hosts in a wonderful little town. A little far from Snowdonia National Park (45mins drive) but very close to the sea, and gorgeous countryside
Review 8:Grand, Georgian stone house in excellent location & with great views across Dolgellau. Short, steepish walk into town for restaurants, shops etc. Great location for longer walks such as Mawddach trail & Precipice walk. Immaculate, beautifully decorated & furnished rooms. We had the room with private bathroom just across the landing, which was no problem. Gowns & slippers are provided and the bathroom was gorgeous with both slipper bath and separate shower. Owned and run by a lovely couple. Good breakfast too.
Review 9:Jan and Pete wonderful and caring hosts, fabulous breakfasts, and comfortable beds. Certainly they "keep a welcome in the hillside" of Cader for all who stay. Thanks for the ice packs for Steve's hurry knee.
Review 10:Not a dislike, but a suggestion. The approach is very steep and the way down into town is also steep. perhaps it would be helpful to mention this in publicity in case this is a problem for some.
Review 11:Warm welcome. Beautiful location but convenient to the town.Generous sized room. Everything spotlessly clean and very tasteful. Our room had a great view looking out over the town.
Review 12:From the second we arrived, Jan and Peter made us feel relaxed and home in their beautiful home. The décor is simple and classy, lending itself to a peaceful feeling and our room had views over Dolgellau and the mountains beyond. Breakfast was well presented and freshly cooked to perfection - nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. It all made for a very peaceful and relaxing weekend
Review 13:Tranquility. Calmness. 5 mlate Georgian minutes walk to the centre ofDolgellau. Don't let the fact that one of the rooms has its bathroomon the other side of the landing - it's not a problem. And thebenefit of retaining a very pleasantly proportioned late Georgianbedroom are great. Lle hyfryd ym mhob ystyr y gair. Diolch.
Review 14:A minor point but great care needs to be taken when accessing and leaving the place. Keep fingers crossed that nothing comes the other way.
Review 15:Lovely well welcome from Pete and Jan, excellent room, great breakfast. No hesitation to go back.
Review 16:Set in a beautiful location this B&B is second to none. Wonderful comfortable room, delicious breakfast and accommodating hosts. Did not want to leave. Would go back in a heartbeat.
Review 17:Nothing I didn't like
Review 18:We stayed there just recently and it was more than you could wish for. Jan and Pete are great hosts and their home is stunning inside and out. They welcomed us so friendly and waved us goodbye like you would do with family.
Review 19:Quirky fridge on the landing idea! Wet room, not been in one yet that doesn't have a "stale water" smell, plus water gets everywhere! Time-out of Wi-fi. Antique furniture too good for B&B, wardrobe very squeaky and narrow. Approach very narrow, plus no signage for property, also parking a bit tight.
Review 20:Five star toiletries and robes and towels etc. fantastic choice of breakfasts, friendliness of owners, comfortable bed and furnishings. Large bedroom negates the need for guest lounge.
Review 21:Could not fault it. Excellent service in a fantastic property.
Review 22:The attention to detail fromJan and Peter was first class and is not something you normally like
Review 23:Great facilities, with very friendly, helpful hosts. Fantastic breakfasts in a dining room with great view over this town and across the hills. The bed was really comfortable with plenty of room in the bedroom and a very modern ensuite.
Review 24:There is nothing I didn't like, access roads are narrow for large cars so I didn't look everytime my partner drove us up but that would not stop me returning.
Review 25:Everything! Perfect bed, luxurious furnishings, bedding and towels, spotlessly clean. Fab breakfast, beautiful views, loacal to lovely restuarants. Great people.
Review 26:having to keep logging on to Wifi if left untouched for 5 mins - understand need to control but ?allow it to remain logged on for a little longer than 5 mins
Review 27:The extra special touches, easy accessibility to mountains pubs and local restaurants
Review 28:Lovely homemade cake and tea on arrival. Beautiful room with stunning views. Great breakfast with local produce. Hosts couldn't have been more helpful re. Places to eat, walking routes etc. Great to have own sitting room. Our bath in separate bathroom was wonderful. Lovely big bed with choice of soft/ firm pillows. Bed bit soft for me but still great. Can't wait to stay again, thanks for a wonderful few days.
Review 29:Nothing. I just couldn't fault it.
Review 30:Absolutely everything. We were made to feel welcome by Jan and Pete from the moment we stepped through the door. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The house itself is absolutely stunning; the room we stayed in was clean and, spacious; the bed was comfortable; the breakfast's delicious. I really can't praise this place enough. Do not hesitate to book!
Review 31:The wifi was a bit intermitent, but apart from that, there was absolutly nothing we weren't happy with.
Review 32:Pete and Jan were wonderful hosts. On arrival we were offered afternoon tea in the guest lounge, which had a magnificent view of much of Dolgelleu. Bryn Mair is a beautiful and comfortable house. The room was very spacious and also had the view of the town and the green hillsides beyond. We enjoyed use of the guest video library, and although tea and coffee making items were all in the room, we appreciated the small bar fridge and extra items on the landing for guests, with fresh milk and bottled water. The narrow laneways that some people have mentioned were not as scary as we had expected, and I wouldn't let that put you off if thinking of booking. It took only a couple of minutes to walk into the town centre for a meal at several good restaurants. Dolgelleu itself is a really surprising old town that we are so pleased to have visited.
Review 33:Impossible to fault!
Review 34:Lovely, comfortable, luxurious house. Hosts were extremely friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble. Super breakfast, and great advice on where to eat.
Review 35:Having to leave!
Review 36:We are just back from a 2 night say in Bryn Mair house and i have to say it was exceptional! From the moment we arrived Jan and Pete made us feel so very welcome. The house is beautifully decorated, warm and there is a real sense of sharing Jan and Pete's home. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. It was the best place we stayed during our 2 week holiday in the UK. The house has an elevated position affording it beautiful views over the village of Dolgellau and the surrounding countryside. A real treat awaits you when you choice Bryn Mair. There is a lovely cycle from Dolgellau to Barmouth that I would recommend. Thanks Jan and Pete for a wonderful stay.
Review 37:On arrival we thought the road into Bryn Mair was very small we actually walked up 1st to see if it was driveable, but it is very decieveing and we drove up no problem, dont let this put you off, it was well worth the stay
Review 38:The host's were fab - couldnt do enough to make us welcome Room was very good, light & airy bathroom was excellent, all very crisp & clean through out and the breakfast was to die for

Review 41:Such a warm welcome, a relaxing environment, lovely nights sleep, home cooked very tasty breakfast. Lovely hosts with a wealth of local knowledge and superb dinner recommendations.
Review 42:Some may struggle with the narrow street leading to the place if arriving by car but there is ample parking on arrival.
Review 43:Lovely welcoming cup of tea and cake on arrival. Very clean, sizeable room and use of the main sitting room was encouraged. Amazing home cooked breakfast, nice thick bacon, lots of choice. Good choice too for my vegetarian girlfriend. Use of the garden was encouraged. The best b&b we have stayed in. Not a busy b&b, only 3 rooms, the owners have a focus on quality. I can't wait to return.
Review 44:Everything - Owners, room, breakfast, peace & quiet. Cannot fault this B & B, would happily recommend to anyone looking for a high end retreat!
Review 45:Only one thing spoiled our stay, the Shower was changing from Hot to Cold and the flow was not strong. Pete did apologise, hopefully, it is fixed now.
