Reviews for La Bastide de Valbonne

Review 1:The staff was fantastically supportive at a time when my wife was undergoing some stressful medical evaluations. They made the hotel sanctuary for us both. Thank you so much.

Review 2:nothing

Review 3:Excellent location. Charming, helpful and friendly staff. Lovely large room with comfortable bed and shower room. Spotlessly clean. Walked out of room onto patio with breakfast tables and pool.

Review 4:This hotel is just a few minutes drive from the town, where you can find restaurants and supermarket. The hotel has a swimming pool, which is just located next to the place where we had breakfast. The staff are very nice and helpful.

Review 5:Lovely area and very pleasant simple hotel with everything promised and no unnecessary frills. Warm welcome and staff always helpful. Great breakfast, nice pool and all kept clean and tidy. Pool very nice. Otherwise no frills.

Review 6:A pearl of comfort away from the madding crowds. Space to breathe and savour the airs of the Cote. Rooms were spotless. Breakfast is generous. Pool setting is calming.

Review 7:I read previous reviews of the place in regards to brekkie being expensive for what it was. Brekkie and cost for it is reasonable. Some people are never happy. P.s this review comes from a well seasoned hotel stayer. Can't go wrong with this hotel.

Review 8:Made to feel so welcome from first arrival to I left. Nothing was to much for the staff from making evening food for me (cold buffet) to finding me a taxi. The room was great, quiet, clean and comfortable.

Review 9:Genuinely friendly staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome, helping me with bags and taxis. Beautiful interesting decor, and very quiet.

Review 10:The iron bed was stylish but not the most comfortable

Review 11:The check in was very friendly, the room was nice with a terrace which would be lovely in summer.

Review 12:A bit cold because of the season.

Review 13:Hotel is in a good location near a touristic village and could be very nice at summer time. Breakfast is convenient and personel is kind. Price/performance of the hotel is very good.

Review 14:No restaurant facilities; Arriving late meant driving down to the town to look for a restaurant.

Review 15:The building is magnificent and is set in a beautiful surrounding. The outside breakfast area is very practical. The rooms are quite substantial and quiet. The rooms open out onto a balcony Very helpful staff Due to the good name of hotel we did find a restaurant will to serve us.

Review 16:We would have liked tea and coffee making facilities. They were a bit understaffed in the evenings so we felt bad asking for room service. We think a small bistro at the Hotel would be great! Without a car its along walk into the village and back at night to eat out each day.

Review 17:I loved the authentic French feel and the relaxed ambience. The rooms were very well decorated. Ours was first floor so very light - but those with a terrace onto the pool looked incredibly dark and overlooked. The owner / manager was wonderful and couldn't do enough for us.

Review 18:Some guests were a bit loud and because the hotel is small they couldn't be avoided! Not the hotel's fault, though!

Review 19:Location was a perfect base for visiting Provence and the Cote d'Azur. The village of Valbonne is a hidden treasure. Loved the Provençal feel to the hotel. Staff were helpful without being intrusive.

Review 20:Breakfast wasn't included and was quite overpriced for what you get (continental buffet). Lunch etc by the pool was expensive for what you get.

Review 21:Lovely rustic French hotel with nice pool and sun loungers. Very relaxing hotel.

Review 22:Nothing

Review 23:Nice location, helpful staff, confortable rooms and very quite.

Review 25:The helpfulness and pleasantness of the owner and especially the night guardian helpful and welcoming, warm and friendly. agreeable

Review 26:Having to leave.

Review 27:Beautiful pool area for relaxing & having breakfast around. Rooms were very nice too.

Review 28:No coffe/Tea making in room

Review 29:Staff very helpful, plentifull breakfast by swimming pool. Beds comfortable.

Review 30:Great location, nice staff, comfortable room, good value

Review 31:None

Review 32:Swiming pool

Review 33:As always made to feel so welcome.

Review 34:Missed a small fridge full of water in the room...

Review 35:The gardens, the welcome, the morning cappuccino! What a bliss!

Review 36:Could benefit from a restaurant and mini bar...

Review 37:Nice room, lovely breakfast and attentive staff.

Review 38:Nothing. Maybe the price a little bit too high especially for breakfast.

Review 39:Nice building, clean and warming. Nice employees, always kind and available.

Review 40:I stay here regularly on business trips and always get a really friendly welcome to this lovely hotel

Review 41:Coffee.

Review 42:The staff, the pool and the welcome.

Review 43:CONFORT AND DECORATION OF THE HOTEL, CONGRATS TO THE OWENERS.

Review 44:Wick WiFi, no fridge in the room.

Review 45:Location, friendly staff, nice decoration, cleanliness.

Review 46:Set up of the rooms with own terras around pool

Review 47:traffic on the coast road

Review 48:Everything..especially the staff and breakfast. Near to Nice airport.

Review 49:Like stay at home

Review 50:Nothing..

Review 51:Everything !

Review 52:Late arrival at 20:30, would have been nice if a snack or sandwich could have been made available

Review 53:Nice Hotel, would not hesitate to stay here again

Review 54:The bathroom is very small.

Review 55:The provincial style of the hotel. The calm.

Review 56:price: breakfast quiet expensive (12eur) not included in the price that is already high

Review 57:cosy small hotel with a provencial style

Review 58:Staff Pool Comfort

Review 59:Everything

Review 60:Helpful staff and confortable.

Review 61:Lovely hotel close to Valbonne. Very friendly welcoming staff. Rooms are clean and very comfortable, some with terraces or balconies onto the pool.

Review 62:Because we made multiple bookings and the hotel unlike many on Booking.com takes early deposits there was slight confusion with billing at the end

Review 63:Nice Hotel, lovely people in good great location

Review 64:The "air conditioning" is actually Seasonal Comfort Cooling - and surprisingly the management's perception of Summer doesn't seem to include late May!

Review 65:Pleasantly furnished, non-chain property

Review 66:There is no isolation for the sound. We feel like we are in a house with lots of guests.

Review 67:The bedroom was large and the decoration was pleasant, with french doors opening to the swimming pool and a beautiful garden. Breakfast was also good - a bit of everything but only the best quality. Excellent personnel!

Review 68:Breakfast was expensive for a continental breakfast No restaurant on premises No water or tea coffee in room Had to drive to a restaurant

Review 69:Very pleasant staff very welcoming

Review 70:Only problem is you can't get dinner in the winter and there is no coffee making facility in the rooms.

Review 71:The hotel is a charming old bastide refurbished very well in a tasteful way. Rooms are comfortable, staff friendly and the wi-fi works.

Review 72:Not sure if there is wifi. No clock in the room.

Review 73:Hospitality and graciousness are foremost here. I had arrived on an international flight, not sure if I was more hungry or more tired. Even though it was not 'mealtime', I had a plate of food and was in a clean comfortable room within 15 minutes of arrival.

Review 74:No coffee making facilities in room.. Standard in GB .. Breakfast poor standard and over priced ..Atmosphere was not relaxed enough for us ..

Review 75:Comfortable room ..

Review 76:Having to pay for breakfast was a little irritating. The hotel is a few km outside of Valbonne so to access the restaurants you need to drive or walk along a fairly busy road.

Review 77:A neat and clean hotel. Good sized rooms which were well appointed. We had a balcony which opened on to the swimming pool which was fantastic. Staff friendly and helpful. Good parking.

Review 78:The reservation was made to Bastide de Valbonne but in fact we staied inthe new building, which was not completely finished (called Theseventeen hotel).

Review 79:The location is in avery picturesque area with hills and plenty oftrees, close to Cote d'Azur. The rodents in the backyard and theants in the balcony are also very friendly ;-)

Review 80:Rooms lack some basic fittings like towel hooks, waste baskets etc. The breakfast table is basic, not bad but staff is friendly but totally without experience. No plates, no cups, no spoons etc. The coffee is terrible. They need urgently a good coffee machine.

Review 81:The hotel is devided in an old and new section. We stayed in the new part of the hotel, which has just been finished. Very large rooms, with kitchen, good for family with kids. Rooms face the pool.

Review 82:A well maintained comfortable hotel with large bedroom and pleasant poolside terrace. Excellent cold plate for supper, lovely wine and a generous and varied breakfast. Happy helpful staff made it an enjoyable stay. Would recommend to anyone in the area.

Review 83:Poolside area lethal when tiles wet. First swim I slipped & wrenched my foot badly, toe went black & foot very swollen, spoke to others who found the same, so especially dangerous for elderly & children. Warning notices needed to be put up. Not sure about new building at the back, very stark at the moment. Has its own pool. Hotel not well placed to walk into Valbonne, very busy road without footpath for first part.

Review 84:Old building full of character & gentle colourings inside, terracing outside around the pool with trees & tumbling plants. Downstairs poolside rooms open on to little sitting area in shade, upstairs poolside rooms open on to long balcony, each divided by 2 large terracotta pots with orleanda in each pot. 4 simple lunchtime plates offered from menu.Attractive selection for breakfast.

Review 85:No restaurant which we weren't aware of until we got there aftermany hours on the road. Found out the next day though that you couldorder a sandwich or light salad. If breakfast taken by the pool beprepared for smokers.

Review 86:Small, attractive hotel with lovely comfortable room. Although appearedfully booked was very peaceful. I think more privacy in room withbalcony facing swimming pool which we had. Great plentiful continentalbreakfast. Owner??? Lovely lady.

Review 87:Although a bar was, seemingly, available in the evening, one could hardly notice it...

Review 88:Breakfast was excellent. Balcony in the room was very pleasant. Staff was very friendly and fluent in English. Environment and decoration we're very good.

Review 89:Nothing.

Review 90:Everything!!! The staff are exceptional! The hotel is charming, clean and well located. The breakfast was delicious. We were very comfortable there and extended our stay.

Review 91:a litlle bit difficult acsess with the suitcases from the parking area (covered with gravel)to the hotel, moreover, there is no lift so the guest has to carry the suitcases up to the room by stairs.

Review 92:very kind and helpfull staff.very good breakfast.nice and clean hotel and its surroundings.

Review 93:None during my stay.

Review 94:La Bastide is an extremely comfortable inn set in a semi-country location. Its atmosphere is one of country elegance and there are many faux antiques. I found this hotel to be very comfortable in a nice location convenient to my needs (visiting my friends in nearby La Rouret), and a very good value for money spent. Breakfasts were wonderful as was the service.

Review 95:Nothing bad about it at all for me. However you may not want to walkinto Valbonne village.

Review 96:The hotel is beautifully furnished and the pool and gardens are adelight. The staff must be force-fed happy pills, they are so friendlyand helpful, though totally non-intrusive. We had a pool-side room, which I recommend heartily, it was large and very graceful, but stillclearly Provencal. My bed was genuinely one of the best I have slept in.Breakfast was excellent value at €12. It is a shame, I guess, that thereis no restaurant, but why would you go to Valbonne and not eat in thearcades of the village square? We loved the room and hotel so much mywife begged me to leave her there; forever.

Review 97:The heating system with blowing hot air is a little bit drying. It would be much better with under floor heating and cieleing cooling.

Review 98:Clean, warm and friendly.

Review 99:A bit far from the town Valbonne, at least walking in the dark was dangerous because of the traffic, and no side walk

Review 100:Delicate place, nice style, pleasant people, good breakfast

Review 101:You need to have a car to be able to enjoy the region. You can howeverwalk to Valbonne which is a nice mediavel city.

Review 102:Very charming hotel with a very friendly staff. The surroundings arenice and the rooms are comfortable. We got a superb room with a poolview and a nice balcony.

Review 103:We liked everything during our stay at the hotel. The facility is very beatiful and designed with good taste The location is most convenient. the staff very friendly and helpfull.

Review 104:A family owned hotel which is kept in pristine condition inside and out and welcoming friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful gardens and lovely pool, the photos do not do it justice - Will definitely recommend and re-visit.

Review 105:Nothing - a beautiful relaxing place to stay. Value for money.

Review 106:The beautifully decorated rooms and cleanliness of the whole hotel.Helpful staff and good location to explore the perfume region ofSouthern France. Also not far from Cannes, Nice and Monaco if you wishto take day trips there by car. You do need a car though if staying atthis hotel. Valbonne is so pretty and has some very good places to eat.

Review 107:The booking system. We booked a double room. On arrival, we were given a twin. When we asked for a double, we were told that a double and twin are exactly the same, and it was our own fault as we did not specify we wanted a double room on the 'special circumstances' part of the booking. Clicking on 'double room' was not a guarantee that we got one. As there were no other rooms available, we were stuck with this one. We were offered a free bottle of wine as a matter of courtesy, but then the hotel put it on our final bill, and made us pay for it! Not great customer service at all.

Review 108:Very beautiful hotel, did not feel corporate at all - which we liked. Was very authentic

Review 109:Nothing. We liked it a lot.

Review 110:Perfect as a base near Nice, France, but not in the city itself.Valbonne is a pretty small town with good restaurants and a Fridaymarket. Easy access to Mediterranean coast and pretty villages, only 25mins to Nice Airport. Simple hotel but comfortable, welcoming, nice pooland sun loungers. No restaurant in the hotel but good places nearby - 2walkable, and Valbonne a 5 min drive away.

Review 111:Travelling back from Italy, we wanted to break our our journeysomewhere in the Provence area for two days . What a find and suchexcellent value for money; good sized room with layout carefullythought about, spotlessly clean, minimally designed but still with thatProvence feel. Each room had a small terraced area, some openingdirectly out to the clean and well maintained pool. A wonderfulbreakfast (for only 12 euros) of meats, cheeses as well as the usualcroissants and beautiful breads was enjoyed by the pool. This hotel hada friendly family feel to it, with attentive staff. We will be goingback and staying longer next time

Review 112:Pool area was small for the number of guests. It was difficult to find a lounge because the area was small and too crowded.

Review 113:Clean, comfortable, attractively furnished room in a convenient location and at a reasonable price for the high season. Easy access to Valbonne Village and other towns, Cote D'Azur beaches and Nice airport.

Review 114:A wonderful, sophisticated french hotel with a perfect sized pool. Staff were helpful and were without the pompousness of elsewhere. Parking excellent. The owner even offered to drive u into Valbonne when a taxi company didnt appear. Valbonne has a wonderful market and is a very interesting town with super childrens play area. Would plan to go again.

Review 115:Mini bar in the room would have been nice to enjoy the sunny balcony

Review 116:Delightful owners/staff who go to a lot of trouble to be helpful. Rooms nicely decorated, not luxurious, but very comfortable, immacuately clean and quiet. Loevly breakfast. Small but adequate pool and lots of seating, tables, loungers.

Review 117:Watch out - this isn't what it used to be! "Tranquility, peace and wideopen views" (so the hotel brochure) are no longer: In the rear gardens, they are erecting two large buildings which rise directly behind thepool area. Apart from the fact that just now (and for the next couple ofmonths) you are staying right on a construction site, once they havefinished, the only open space that will remain outside the hotel is thesmall pool area. So, if you want a hotel just to spend the night in, butwill be on the move for all the rest of the day, than you could stillfeel all right here (depending, however, on how they are going to usethe new buildings once they are completed); if, however, you areintending to spend some time in the hotel compound relaxing, lying inthe sun, reading, or whatever, then I'm afraid the Bastide won't be sucha good choice any more.

Review 118:The hotel is very nice. The staff were very outgoing and freindly. The room was clean and the bathroom is very big. The breakfast was excellent! I will defenitly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to this area.

Review 119:Very nice hotel but we were very disappointed that there was buildingwork going on .there were times when you could not here yourself speakfor the noise This was not told when booking this hotel . Buildingworkers continualy shouting when you are trying to relax. We did reportthis to the hotel but fell on deaf ears.

Review 120:Right next to the hotel area there is a construction site currentlywhich might be noisy when staying at the hotel during the day - whichwas not our case. The hotel is also very close to the busy main road butour room was situated to the pool side so we were far from the noicefrom the street. Whenever there was busy traffic in the hallway, wecould hear the noise - that was disturbing.

Review 121:The pool area is very nice and provides enough space for relax. We hadalso a ground floor room at the pool with the private terrace, which wasnice to spent time at in the evening.

Review 122:Building work

Review 123:Nice hotel, clean with friendly helpful staff. There is building workgoing on out the back of it and therefore the poolside rooms willexperience some noise during the day. Breakfast at 12 euros was notgreat value.

Review 124:Drilling/construction noise outside hotel during and after breakfast - meant we didn't stay to use the swimming pool, which looked lovely.

Review 125:Excellent room, breakfast, friendly staff.
