Reviews for B&B Lomamokkila

Review 1:Friendly, helpful, welcoming hosts. Delicious breakfast. Lovely location to explore at our leisure. A great place for groups, with a beautifully appointed communal kitchen/ diner/ lounge to meet up in, plus opportunity to BBQ in summer or winter in the Lapp Hut.

Review 2:Great place! Clean, friendly, good breakfast, nice location in the countryside on a lake. Family environment (b&b is an adjunct to farming). Volley/tennis/boating/picnic facilities.

Review 3:Nothing really.

Review 4:The farm is very peaceful and beautiful to stroll around. The kitchen next to our bedroom is functional and well equipped. We also liked the BBQ facilities very much. The hosts were friendly and informative. We really enjoyed our stay.

Review 5:There is absolutely nothing we did not like.

Review 6:We loved being in the middle of the nature. Everything was so silent and peaceful. Kalle is a great host, and this needs to be emphasized, as it has become really rare nowadays. The breakfast is amazing. The way to the farm is clearly indicated, so it is really easy to find which is much appreciated after a long day of travel. Kalle will help you with anything you might need. Any map or leaflet you could need, he has them!

Review 7:A beautiful house in a lovely location. High quality accommodation (such as one might expect from a top-end hotel chain) but with a wonderfully warm and friendly atmosphere. Superb breakfast and dinner. The owners clearly put in lots of hard work to ensure that the accommodation and food are both of the highest standard.

Review 8:I would complain about the mosquitoes, but that's something the managers can't do anything about.

Review 9:The breakfast was fabulous: a wide variety of hand made exquisite food. Well into the woods but not too far from Savonlinna.

Review 10:The place is beautiful, authentic and a great approach to finnish countryside. Everything is taken care of, and the lake with rowing boats and the sauna is paradisiac. Extremely reccommendable!

Review 11:Nothing to complain about

Review 12:This was such a lovely place - I loved it! Perfect if you want to have some quite time in the nature. They have different rooms in several houses. You can hire a boat or go to sauna by the lake. The family that owns this B&B is very friendly and helpful. The only thing to keep in mind is that the place is outside Savonlinna, so if you are not travelling by car, plan how you are going to get there beforehand.

Review 13:The setting was fab, the breakfast buffet totally excellent and the dining area bright and light. The whole grounds were lovely and the lake beautiful with sauna, picnic spot and sauna.

Review 14:As facility and service was more than we expected, there is nothing negative to point out.

Review 15:Friendly, personal service. Owners have professional relaxed, countryside attitude. Neat and very clean. Cute highland cows!

Review 16:Lomamokkila hosts were very friendly and the farm setting was lovely. Despite the unusually cool weather we enjoyed the tranquility of the lakeside and the green fields and highland cows! The breakfast buffet had an excellent range of choices. The location put us in easy reach of Savonlinna and many other attractions.

Review 17:The transport department needs to care for us folks who can't drive or afford car rentals, and have a few buses ply in the neighbourhood.

Review 18:Stayed there three nights in June. For an Asian couple travelling through major cities in that region, this stay was a good departure from the stereotypical city life. It was wonderful to live in a Finnish farm, with close proximity to farm animals, their beautiful dogs, those giant trees and the lake. Kalle and his wife are very generous and kind hosts. We can't drive and thus couldn't make the most of our stay there in terms of visits to the National Park and other attractions nearby. But we did rent their bikes and rode to the city which is a pleasant but exhausting(to us) 12 km from the farm. Our butts ached so bad the following day that we decided to just rest in our rooms and enjoy some of their local beer, which was cheap and tasted great. There are some interesting eating options in Savonlinna City Centre, but we would recommend guests to try the meals they serve in house. We ate all our meals there. Do remember to take along some mosquito repellent, as the walk to the lake can be quite treacherous without. And there's the sauna and barbecue huts one could enjoy. We didn't because we had other plans for our stay, like drinking copious volumes of alcohol and photography. The sky looks gorgeous in twilight hours, something to be enjoyed near the lake, in spite of the monster mosquitoes who threaten to suck you dry.

Review 19:The location is wonderful, very quiet and relaxing. The rooms are cute and comfortable with all service I needed. Owners are very kind and friendly. Meals are delicious and healthy. Perfect chioce for a relaxing holiday.

Review 20:Too many speed camaras on the way there. Be careful.

Review 21:A marvelous buffet of local foods for breakfast. Also for a three-course inexpensive dinner, which included two types of fish and meat plus four vegetable dishes. Good wine. Great and helpful hosts.

Review 22:I didn't realize the exact location and how far it was from Savonlinna, but once I found it, it wasn't really all that far out at all. The location is worth the drive.

Review 23:Lovely family run this place (friendly and helpful); excellent breakfast; nice room. I would love to come back in the summer. I have never seen stars so bright!!

Review 24:A family-owned property in a lovely rural setting. Immaculately maintained with lots of flowers, farm animals, and two laid-back dogs. Friendly owners who are attentive and generous, offering information and guidance in things to do in the area. And there's lots to do! Breakfast is large and delicious, and dinner is fabulous. Owner offers his own nice brew of beer among many others. Room was comfortable and super clean, excellent WiFi. A large and complete kitchen facility available if you want to cook for yourself with markets nearby. September was a great time to be there -- cooler temperatures and fewer people. I did not want to leave!

Review 25:distance to savonlinna is difficult without a car (we had one)

Review 26:Very nice family (staff) Good homemade food (breakfast and dinner) Boats and fisching rod for free private beach at the lake sauna to rent big communal kitchen nice barbecue cabin with wood nice dogs and other animals Rooms were clean and nice furnished every room had a little terrace with chairs

Review 27:The towels could have been washed at a higher degree to prevent unpleasant smell when getting wet. However, this is easy to fix and did not affect our great experience at Lomamokkila :)

Review 28:1- The hosts, Laura and Kalle, are awesome! This B&B has been in service for 35 years so they know exactly what the guests need. They are very friendly, polite and helpful. Kalle offered to give us a lift to the city because he knew we didn't come with a car. 2- The food was just amazing! You get a buffet for breakfast with delicious cakes, bread, ham, and many things more. You can also pay 14€ for a buffet dinner with a variety of choices. The cook does an excellent job! 3- The animals are very cute! There are 2 friendly and smart dogs who love to have a belly rub, about 25 highland cows with long fluffy hair and 2 super active pigs who love to give a show when you come visit their pen. 4- The farm includes a beautiful 1-km walk through the forest full of pine and birch trees and a lake where you can swim in summer or row a boat around. Boats and life vests are free. There are also bonfire places and a little playground for kids. 5- The wooden houses that Laura and Kalle built for the guests are very beautiful. Everything indoors is made of wood and it's very warm. 6- The air there is the freshest air in the world!

Review 29:If you don't have a car is quite difficult to reach, but the staff is really helpful and they rent bikes.

Review 30:The staff was extremely kind and helpful. There is a charming lake nearby and you can take a rowing boat for free. Breakfast was good and dinner was delicious even if served a little too early (6.00 pm)

Review 31:-mosquitos :) -

Review 32:-environment was beautiful -near to center of Savonlinna (10 min by car) -stuff was very kind -rooms, bathroom, sauna were all clean -breakfast was good

Review 33:Mosquitos :-)

Review 34:Tranquillity, peace ´n quite of the whole farm and surrounding lake. Beach Sauna, Breakfast, Cleanliness and not too forget the friendly and welcoming owners, which have been a great help in planning and organising our stay and made it (as already the year before) a memory which we will treasure until we´ll return :-)

Review 35:Only very small things - we received two double beds pushed together that would occasionally separate in the middle of the night, which made for a few awkward moments. (The beds themselves were very pleasant). Also, not really a complaint, but the distance from the Savonlinna city center and the Olavinlinna castle makes this location much more conducive to those with access to a car.

Review 36:The best thing about this charming B&B was its location smack in the middle of the ravishing Finnish wilderness. Its hosts, Kalle and Laura, tended both property and guests with attention and care. Their morning breakfast was highly reflective of the best of Finnish homemade cuisine, and their lakeside services (barbequing, boating, sauna, swimming, etc.) were enough to satisfy any fan of nature. We stayed primarily because of the great nearby opera festival in Savonlinna, but there's enough to explore at Lomamokkila's wilderness setting to satisfy anybody's curiosity for a long while. While feeling remote, it was adorned with enough modern conveniences (internet, TV, with nearby laundromat, fine restaurants, and a big supermarket) that anybody used to city comforts would not be shocked in any way.

Review 37:Nothing to not like.

Review 38:B&B Lomamokkila more than met all our expectations. The meals at breakfast and dinner (optional) were fabulous, the rooms most comfortable. The hosts could not have been nicer. If you are traveling to Savonlinna for the Opera, a taxi can be arranged. Much better than dealing with parking in town. My husband and I highly recommend!

Review 39:No soap or shampoo. No fan. No dark enough curtains

Review 40:About 10 easy kms from savonlinna. Great host. Can use row boat. Very knowledgeable about the area. Nice breakfast. Beautiful and well taken care setting

Review 41:A real gem. beautiful and lovingly tended. Big enough to have an interesting variety of travelers (watched world cup with an international gang). super nice and attentive young couple running place. dinners great: varied and served buffet style so you could try everything. very reasonable. would recommend to anyone/everyone. made a fire/weiner roast in shelter next to their lake; took out their boat. zero fuss.

Review 42:Everything about Lomamokkila is better than I expected - thought I would try one dinner, but never thought of eating anywhere else after that. Gracious, helpful, but not intrusive hosts who helped to make my first solo trip to a foreign land very comfortable. Spotless, everything well maintained - nothing can beat that 1Km walk to the lake through a beautiful woodland after a splendid Finnish dinner. If ever I am able to return to Finland, I will return to Lomamokilla.

Review 43:Wonderful place, family atmosphere, our room was perfectly clean. The hostess was so friendly and kind. The breakfasts were excelent.

Review 44:Friendly, kind hosts. Quiet, restful, gorgeous property. So very relaxing and refreshing.

Review 45:Fantastic and very kind owners. Masterpiece breakfast.

Review 47:Stunning location, very friendly and helpful owners, delicious food.

Review 48:Just fantastic

Review 49:Nothing

Review 50:The personal pleasure of speaking the hosts

Review 51:Quality is always in details. This young couple, Kahl and his wife run a unique piece of paradise. We're very happy to have found it.

Review 52:Breakfast was pretty week. Eggs would be nice to have.

Review 53:Nature is great. You could also ride a small boat on a lake nearby.

Review 54:The beds were quite narrow

Review 55:Fantastic location, sauna near the lake, quiet

Review 56:lake location was stunning. Hosts were wonderful and very generous Meals were fantastic home cooked banquets

Review 57:Your beautiful farm, and the friendly, helpful people who run your B&B.

Review 58:breakfast was really good, and same for the dinner

Review 59:An amazing experience...

Review 60:Beautiful location and excellent staff

Review 61:Location, relaxed atmosphere, smoked sauna, lake

Review 62:Leaving!

Review 63:The location on farm on lake. Interesting, tasty food. Lovely helpful staff Felt like home!

Review 64:there was nothing I didn't like !!

Review 65:excellent breakfast kind staff beautiful surrounding

Review 66:Everything,and the near by lake at the sunset

Review 67:Room had slightly less character than other spaces. A more comfortable sitting chair in room would be nice.

Review 68:A great location not far from Savonlinna. The hosts were lovely, attentive and interesting and interested. It was wonderful to be able to eat such a lovely dinner each night for a reasonable cost. All the food was excellent with a big choice. All the communal spaces were really attractive. Our bedroom was pleasant with very comfortable beds for a bad back! Lots of attention to detail here, with lots of different options and activities for a visit. We enjoyed a row on the lake in the evening. The setting is lovely.

Review 69:No dinner is served in winter. Also in winter they do not prepare lakeside sauna - only the one inside the houses is available. But it's a minority compared to the overall very good impression.

Review 70:Everything. Friendly and helpful oweners, good breakfast with our favorite oats porridge from the oven, peaceful locations, furry cows in the field of this farm. Lovely balls of fur - dogs! Very good kitchen facility with everything you may need. Stayed there the second time

Review 71:The only drawback is the distance from the city centre if one is not driving. Please includes the cost for travelling to and from. In addition, have to make sure about the bus service time. On arrival, we have taken the one which only stopped at the main road. The walk was really long (over 30 minutes) and was particularly difficult with luggage and in the rain. The bus fare is is 4.6 euros per trip. Taxi costs about 27 euros.

Review 72:The owners, a young couple, Kalle & Laura have kept the the cottages clean and comfortable. The whole place is huge and relaxing. It is value for money. The kitchen for guest use is well equipped with a beautiful lounge with couches and TV. The smoke sauna by the lake was an interesting experience. We are appreciative of Laura who is heavily pregnant for the lovely nd bountiful breakfast she prepared for us and giving us a lift to town one morning. A comfortable and relaxing place that is highly recommended to all.

Review 73:A distance from town and no decent place to eat dinner. Bring your own food and cook in their central gathering place.

Review 74:Clean, quiet country setting, beautiful farm house kitchen and good breakfast. Wish we could have stayed more than 1 night and enjoyed the canoe and outdooors.

Review 75:I liked a lot the nature around: forest, lake. We had a rest at very friendly and silent place. The accomodation was very good, the furniture were made of wood. it was eco-vacations!

Review 76:We most liked the design, location and staff at Lomomokkila. The food was also excellent Finnish fare. The distance from Savonlinna - 12 k.- was nothing. We got to town quite easily by taxi and a rented car. And the price was right! We would stay there again were to visit Savonlinna again.

Review 77:I regret for not having booked the room for at least one week. Just kidding!

Review 78:The best place ever. Actually, nothing to complaint about. We stayed at the main building and our room was very beautiful, clean, big, with nice views to the fields... Breakfast was also great: most of the food was home-made. A nice way to find out about Finnish food. The surroundings were amazing since the bed snd breakfast is close to a lake where you can boat free of charge as well as fishing.

Review 79:Beds are quite soft, but that´s just our personal opinion

Review 80:The little guest rooms are well equipped, with an enormous kitchen to share with the 3 other guest rooms. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and the host family absolutely charming and very helpful. There´s a private "beach" and rowing boats and sauna, all is very well kept and we´ve had a very relaxing stay

Review 81:After three days we didn't want to leave. Beautiful grounds, clean and comfortable rooms, the best meals we had in Finland. The hosts, Kalle and Laura, were phenomenal-helpful with all areas of our vacation. Can't wait to stay there again!

Review 82:Right by a lakeside with a wood sauna, this family run accommodation was excellent value for money. The family were very helpful to all guests in giving ideas about traveling. The breakfast was included and was also excellent.

Review 83:Homely atmosphere, all delights of countryside livin (pure air, silence, quietness, forest, lake, animals...), kind and helpful hosts, artfulinterior design.

Review 84:An excellent place for those who love nature, secluded holiday andappreciate the silence. Especially note the taste and love to the houseowners who were able to create a unique atmosphere of comfort.Recommended as an example of an autonomous aesthetic life! This is theplace where you can feel yourself out of time!
