Reviews for Clandeboye Lodge Hotel
Review 1:The evening meal and breakfast was 5*, staff were fantastic and so accommodating. Customer service was 5*. Literally do not have one bad thing to say!
Review 2:Wifi connection lost every 10 min in room then had to enter password etc every time again. A bit of music in the evening would be a bonus.
Review 3:Very friendly staff , great central location to Bangor, Belfast and Ards peninsula, quiet room , great food.
Review 4:poor tv set up, fan noise in bathroom went on too long when light went out especially during the night, only a minor worry
Review 5:all good, flexable checking in time. have been back several times now along with many evening dinners
Review 6:Couldn't fault anything about this hotel.
Review 7:Beautiful rooms. Gorgeous bathroom and comfortable bed! Food was delicious and staff were friendly and helpful. Great value for money.
Review 8:Drinks a little expensive
Review 9:Staff were excellent went above and beyond to make our stay an enjoyable one - breakfast in bed was amazing and they provided it earlier on request. They also facilitated my request for an early check in as we were attending a wedding in Cultra.
Review 10:The wifi was annoying as I seemed to have to log in each time despite having registered each device already (5 devices!)
Review 11:Friendly staff and delicious porridge
Review 12:The hotel was great! Very modern, clean, spacious room. Comfy beds and were a good size. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would defo be back :)
Review 13:Bar prices were on the high side therefore curtailed my use of the bar. I required Wifi for working whilst at the hotel and found this inconsistent and sometimes had to log in 3 or 4 times per session. In most other places, once you have accessed the Wifi once then it can be automatic thereafter but not here.
Review 14:A previous visitor, service by staff as ever was prompt and delivered cheerfully. Breakfast was excellent and great to start the day with. I had a good stay at the Clandeboye and will no doubt return in the future.
Review 15:Could have a better selection of beers in the bar. Rooms did not have complimentary water or biscuits - for a 4* hotel very unusual.
Review 16:Nice setting, relaxed atmosphere and stylish interior.
Review 17:Absolutely nothing to dislike.
Review 18:We booked this venue as our Daughter had planned her wedding there. I cannot speak highly enough about the staff who all went the extra mile to ensure her day went smoothly.
Review 19:Paid for a superior room. The bathroom was very basic and it seemed to be the bathroom advertised for a standard room and not the superior. Bar service to the table was very poor even tho the restaurant was extremely quiet.
Review 20:the food was fabulous.
Review 21:Early check out on a Sunday morning
Review 22:The whole experience from start to finish was great. Our room was very spacious and clean. The restaurant served up an excellent meal with great serviced followed by a delicious breakfast the next morning.
Review 23:There were some marks on the tiles in the bathroom. Maybe a spa in the future, but not a big deal as there is a very good spa just up the road in grounds of Blackwood Golf Course, called Luxe Spa.
Review 24:We loved the hotel as it was so homely and friendly and being a smaller establishment helped it. There were two weddings at hotel, but because the weddings are held in a separate building on the hotel grounds, it meant that guests in main hotel weren't affected, which we thought was great. The food is very good indeed and loved the cooked to order breakfast. The décor of the hotel was very good indeed. We stayed in executive room and we loved the extra touches of the water, fresh fruit and the nespresso machine which was very good. We would highly recommend the Clandeboye Lodge Hotel, and we will be staying in the hotel again without a doubt.
Review 25:Beautiful hotel, grounds, staff & food couldn't fault a thing my only grumble would be no spa or pool but overall 5 star, would recommend & will return thank you.
Review 26:Great location, plenty of free parking, very friendly and helpful staff and good food. We stayed 6 nights and booked on the basis of other reviews. The hotel together with the good weather made this a very enjoyable holiday in NI.
Review 27:Attending wedding at venue near hotel and was suggested by bride and groom for ease of access. Lovely social spaces around bar and reception area for people to relax and mingle.
Review 28:Great hotel/friendly staff/lovely dinner. Vegie options available I had a chesse omelette for breakfast which wasn't to my taste however all other breakfast looked fab.
Review 29:Hotel is somewhat out of the way. Extra charge for a cooked Breakfast was a surprise
Review 30:Pleasant Room, Food excellent altho ice cream portions were small.
Review 31:Poor mattress. Need to invest in Hypnos. No rubber bath mat, when the bath surface etching was worn.
Review 32:Open plan ambience, reception, restaurant and bar. Peaceful bedroom. Simple and effective Wifi.
Review 33:Disappointed with Dinner, Steak ( Ribeye ) not worth the money even though they say on the menu that they're known for their Steaks. Everything is extra, Bread should be complimentary.
Review 34:Location/ surroundings
Review 35:Got there at 10.30pm lovely receptionist (Kirsty?) welcomed me and sorted out room service for me. Lovely ham and cheese sandwich! Lovely lady on reception in the morning - she served me the last time I visited and my first experience was so good I choose this as my hotel of choice when working in Bangor :)
Review 36:Rooms were too warm Couldn't open the window No water provided in the room or option to purchase from mini bar.
Review 37:Lovely staff at breakfast and lunch
Review 38:We think the cleanliness of the bathroom and carpet was under par considering that the Clandeboye is expensive.
Review 39:The staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful. Food was excellent. Beautiful location and grounds.
Review 40:The entrance and communal areas have obviously recently undergone refurbishment which is beautiful. However the rooms could do with the same and then the hotel would literally be perfect
Review 41:The staff were absolutely amazing as was the breakfast. Beautiful setting and would recommend
Review 42:Not one thing to report as a negative
Review 43:Superb place all round. Was there for brothers wedding and could not have asked for any thing more as best man. Darren who looked after us all day was a credit to the hotel and deserves all plaudits he received on the day.
Review 44:The in-bath shower has no tray to hold soap or other items so as the bath is very narrow with no useful edge showering became unsatisfactory.
Review 45:I liked the public rooms very much and they suited my needs to entertain friends. Breakfast had a good ambiance - a good start to the day. The gardens were lovely
Review 46:We booked a Standard Room and An Executive room..we were very dissapointed with the Executive room as the standard room was exactly the same only the Standard Room bed was twice the size of the Executive room...which wasnt worth paying the extra money for.
Review 47:Food Lovely. Beautiful Area.
Review 48:Righthand side of bed wasn't very comfortable...and I kept falling into the middle gap...possibly a mattress topper would have helped.
Review 49:Room was a great size....quiet location and room...good breakfast selection...friendly staff...nespresso machine was fantastic!!
Review 50:We were attending our niece's wedding and celebrating my wife's 74th birthday. I booked an Executive Room which was accepted. At 8-30 pm the day before the wedding we received a telephone call from the Hotel to tell us that the room was not available but we could have a Standard Room which we had to accept.
Review 51:The whole day was brilliant, setting. meal and entertainment. The room was adequate, comfortable but lacked the extra luxury I had booked.
Review 52:No bad experience but the cooked breakfast was served before we had finished our fruit/cereal. Overall excellent hotel
Review 53:Quiet comfortable room- courteous staff - excellent venue for the wedding we were attending
Review 54:I was staying over for a wedding. Couldn't fault the service , the food or the cleanliness .'the only issue was my smoke free room smelt of smoke. Other than that I had a faultless atay
Review 55:Wakened in the middle of the night (2/3am) by other guests in the corridor who had been drinking.
Review 56:Immaculately clean room- more than enough complimentary items!!! (Only thing missing was toothpaste!) Lovely, friendly staff. Great breakfast all included in price!
Review 57:Extra charges at breakfast, B&B rates are high enough. £3.50 for porridge ridiculous.
Review 58:Very good room, clean and facilities ie: wi-fi tea/coffee good. Staff excellent, great dinner, steak cooked to perfection.Wine list vgood.
Review 59:Tiles in bathroom cracked and grouping needed redone making it look dirty. Breakfast was not great. some guests appeared to get better breakfast than others and tea/coffee not very warm.
Review 60:Rooms fair size and bed comfortable, evening meal good.
Review 61:Nothing
Review 62:The hotel is beautiful and the staff were warm friendly and very helpfull and could not have done more to make the wedding and the guest enjoy the visit
Review 63:You could not have a bad experience at this hotel. We would highly recommend staying here to anyone.
Review 64:We loved everything during our stay. The staff could not do enough for you. They were so helpful and friendly. The room was lovely and we felt so comfortable. Our meals were first class.
Review 65:We had a very old uncomfortable mattress with noisy springs, there were stains on the carpets and seating in the room and around the hotel. The shower side was not good enough to stop water from leaking onto the bathroom floor. We did complain about the bed and whilst we understood that with a fully booked hotel there were no room moves available, there were no spare mattresses and we were advised the mattresses were all the same. The hotel did give a discount for the inconvenience.
Review 66:The rooms are spacious with great showers and all the facilities you would expect from a 4 star hotel. Staff were very friendly. Good function suite.
Review 67:nothing really, wifi didn't work consitently but it was free, scottish breakfast would be bigger than the irish one, and sorry but cheap toilet paper
Review 68:size of room, comfort, setting, staff very friendly even at midnight
Review 69:The extractor fan in the bathroom ran on for to long after turning off lights .
Review 70:We liked the setting the comfort and cleanliness and friendly polite and efficient staff at all levels . Well done.
Review 71:Hard to find if you've never been there before so don't rely on sat nav it will get you close but look for Coq and Bull restaurant (that's the hotel) Clandyboye not well signposted and is the same thing basically.
Review 72:Rooms and general ambiance of the hotel
Review 73:Not much to do in the immediate surrounding area if you do not have transport. This hotel specialises in Wedding venues and on the Saturday night I stayed the wedding party went on well into the early hours of Sunday morning. The continual banging doors and people talking in the corridors made it impossible to get to sleep. My wife was kept awake until after 3 o'clock in the morning.
Review 74:Good room and good food. Friendly bar area with music on the Friday night I stayed.
Review 75:Was not happy with the layout of the dining area tables to close to each other lost a bit of the privacy. The layout/seating doesn't take into account the excellent views of the garden.
Review 76:It was an ideal location for our needs.
Review 77:Missing an exercise area. Hotel stairwells were a bit dusty and dirty.
Review 78:Close to Belfast in a quiet country location with a large estate. Nicely restored old property with a good restaurant and nice wedding/party facility but missing some amenities.
Review 79:Everything fell short of the mark. It was all just okay. The breakfast staff where overall poor and unhelpful. It seemed that the mission statement of the hotel, was that we will do things that suit us rather than the customer.
Review 80:Some of the staff are very friendly.
Review 81:The first morning the shower was only offering luke warm water and the signal for wifi or mobiles generally is poor, neither really affected our stay.
Review 82:The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the night time receptionist who I rang whilst in bangor town unable to get a taxi, he (I think his name was suresh?) very kindly rang the taxi office to book it for us and then rang me back and guided us to the office where a taxi had been arranged, such a lovely kind man, an asset to the hotel.
Review 83:The window in our room was broken and wouldn't close properly and the heating had to be turned on my reception which was then turned off at 8 o clock again, the bathroom was small and the bed uncomfortable, there were no spare pillows in the room, we were on the ground floor which was very noisy! Breakfast portions are very small!
Review 84:Hotel was easy to get to
Review 85:There was no hot water coming through the shower so was unable to get a shower. Coffee machine wasn't working. Breakfast running out so was minimal and staff where not sure what was happening and not very friendly.
Review 86:Location and comfort great size room and bed got a room last minute and the reception was very helpful and bar staff where quick with orders.
Review 87:we were in room 301 bed was really uncomfortable could do with new mattress I think.
Review 88:we were there for a wedding - couldn't fault the hotel staff were fantastic couldn't do enough to help us - will def be back for a relaxing weekend soon.
Review 89:Check out time is early. Breakfast portions are quite small for the price being paid for room and breakfast included
Review 90:The room was perfect. Bed was comfy to sleep in, the bathroom and room itself was clean and tidy.
Review 91:Arrived at the hotel from the Ferry at 8 .40pm on the Sunday was told restaurant and room service was closed only sandwiches available. Returned from work on Monday at 9.30pm on the Monday again no room service except drinks and sandwiches - after two nights I could not stand the sight of any more bread - but no restaurants within reasonable reach of the hotel.
Review 92:Good beds, quiet room
Review 93:Breakfast was good but I thought the portion size wasn't very generous and the quality of the sausage let down the other items.
Review 94:Beautiful location, good sized rooms with excellent facilities. Had the best steak I have had for many years!
Review 95:The rooms are very spacious with very comfortable beds! Great hot shower and the free Wifi was quick and easy to connect to. We ate in the restaurant too one night and had a brilliant meal in a lovely setting. The breakfast has a great selection with freshly cooked breakfast. Staff are extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for you.
Review 96:Far too expensive, room was c.30% dearer than I would expect based on small room size & lack facilities (no mini-bar, no pay movies, etc..) Additional touches I would expect for 4* not there, for ecample function suite and main building not joined up but no umbrella's available for guests moving between the two Drinks were also far too expensive, London prices in the Bangor countryside. As an example, a single vodka and red bull is £7.30. For 2 of us at a wedding, and not big drinkers nor drunken at the end of the night, bar bill was £130 Breakfast was not great, cook breakfast was very dry and very small portions, continential breakfast options limited to fruit, toast and cereal. Also took 2 goes to get coffee delivered to the table
Review 97:Great staff Very Clean Evening meal- food very tasty
Review 98:The breakfast, compared to a real irish fry it is quite small, I like the main part of my breakfast to fill me. But that's just me.
Review 99:Almost everything
Review 100:The bed was a bit uncomfortable, woke with a sore back thinks mattress was too soft for us.
Review 101:Staff were excellent and very warming towards us, hospitality was good everything was perfect.
Review 102:Room wasn't ready when we got there. Breakfast was cold and my husband got a drink with a chip out of the glass. The view was awful from our room.Would not go back.
Review 103:The staff were friendly.
Review 104:The Breakfast was a disappointment some of the staff not to nice, carpet in room dirty, overall not impressed
Review 105:I was travelling with my Husband for our Anniversary on 7th Feb on arrival we were giving our room we paid for an Executive Room, the Throw at the bottom of the Bed was dirty so the lady on Reception named Susan was so helpful and gave me another Room. The Executive Rooms to me are very disappointing they have all the extras eg. Fruit, coffee machine, bottled water. but the Carpet was dirty and the Bedding wasn't great, overall I would not recommend this Hotel. the only good thing going for the Hotel is Susan she is a very helpful and friendly.
Review 106:Some noisy guests but hotel dealt with them well.
Review 107:Excellent staff, service and food. Great hotel; staff were friendly snd nothing was too much trouble. Good value for money.
Review 108:Whether it was bringing complimentary shortbread to our room; serving a late night drink in the bar; or taking out order over breakfast the staff were consistently enthusiastic, friendly and helpful. We dearly wished to stay longer and will go back at a moment's notice.
Review 109:We were staying over night after our wedding which we had at the clandeboye lodge. We had an amazing day and the service was excellent. We have had many comments about the food being great also. Lovely stay in the bridal suite-luxury! Will hope to stay again some day!
Review 110:Windows seemed dangerous. Poor phone and Internet signal.
Review 111:Love the atmosphere. Food is always 10/10 love that you sell tennents, tv worked great entertainment with fusion is great and we go every year.
Review 112:The grout in the baths a bit grubby and behind bathroom door when closed. The bedroom we couldn't fault
Review 113:The food was delicious divine tasty what else can I say.the staff friendly and professional. Breakfast was so tasty. Will be back...
Review 114:location and ambience excellent.staff friendly and efficient.room well equipped and comfortable. excellent evening bar snack and super freshly cooked breakfast.a 5 star stay
Review 115:Early booking out 12 would be better. Breakfast finish at 10 could be extended to 10.30 especially at weekends.
Review 116:My favourite room number is 303. Second time to stay in it. Perfect.
Review 117:Staff very friendly and went out of their way to ensure our stay was a very pleasant one. Although there was a 3.00pm check in we were able to get into our room by noon.
Review 118:No sky tv !
Review 119:The staff are excellent. Polite, helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The breakfasts are great, with plenty of options. A very enjoyable week.
Review 120:Went to my room at 12.30a.m. , after wedding, notice my heat wasn't on n after looking at it was told to phone reception. He said he would look into it, I phoned half an hour later to b told he couldn't find anything wrong n maybe I should check it n just press a button! It worked but I was so upset that I could have just done this in the first place!! Didn't sleep cos bed was to soft n could hardly walk nxt day.
Review 121:Lovely wedding
Review 122:The bathroom was not anywhere as nice as it was in the pictures, I was excited for a modern suit and I got put in an older room. I would not have booked if I'd known that room was a possibility. There was also only 1 working plug other than the television plug in the room.
Review 123:The dinner was good, decor in the public areas was very nice. It was quite and clean.
Review 124:Only real tiny thing for me personally was the bed was extremely firm, way too firm for me but that's just my pure preference and lots of people like a nice firm bed!!!
Review 125:Lovely big modern and immaculate ensuite room with TV, complimentary Wifi / Toiletries / Tea / Coffee and they even give you a tea pot & a cafetière to use! Food in the restaurant was delicious and there's a lovely bar, lobby and lounging area by reception, staff were very welcoming and friendly and theres plenty of free on site parking!
Review 126:Music from a wedding party vibrated in our room. The following is just a suggestion - I feel it would be better to have a separate breakfast room for wedding party guests.
Review 127:staff were very professional, helpful.
Review 128:The purpose of our stay was to attend a wedding. First impressions Claire on reception was extremely helpful we were able to access our room earlier than anticipated making it much easier to get dressed and organised to attend the ceremony also being held in the Clandeboye Lodge. The meal served at the reception was outstanding and the fact that the food was served on hot plates gets particular high marks. Room was excellent and the breakfast served next morning was superb. Service very fast. The surroundings were so peaceful and relaxed and will definitely be back very soon.
Review 129:The friendly reception from all the staff we met. The tranquil setting and beautiful mature trees in the garden. The first class food we enjoyed and also the super breakfast.
Review 130:No real negatives would definitely stay again.
Review 131:Excellent location, quiet yet close to local facilities. Great accomodation and the food was very good. Rooms very comfortable.
Review 132:We stayed in the hotel for 10 days and was very impressed with the location, facilities, food and friendly staff. Car parking and free WIFI was an added bonus. The rooms cater for all and we will definitely use this hotel again.
Review 133:On my first night the guests in the room next to me were very noisy until 4.30am. I reported this to reception and was told they would have a word or offer to move me to another room. Later the same day I was told the only other room available would be directly below them, so there was not really much point. I was told, if there were any more noise issues to report these to the night manager. You can imagine my despair when at 2.30am the following morning the Night manager rapped on their door to announce room service then a brief conversation and the rattle of drinks on a tray.
Review 134:The food was exceptional
The Fine Print
