Reviews for Chambres d'Hôtes - La Villa De La Paix

Review 1:Lovely rooms with character. Friendly helpful owners and staff. Easy 5 minutes walk from old town. Our booked room had a plumbing problem, and they made sure Booking.com contacted us to give us advance warning on our way there. We were put in another (more expensive) room. Excellent customer service.

Review 2:All good

Review 3:Beautiful house and decor , lovely breakfast crockery, lots of space in all the rooms. Friendly hosts. This is the second time we have stayed here and will be booking again for March .

Review 4:The hotel is charming but the room does not match its standard - we took the suite which was spacious but a bit basic for its category: only a small shower, old fashion curtains (as well as the decoration overall), no bodymilk, no slippers... correct overal but not impressive.

Review 5:Very nice hotel, charming on the oustside especially with its terrace and private parking included. Good breakfast and nice location: walking distance from the center. Nice to know: champagne available glasses at the bar, super cosy living room open to the public.

Review 6:The location is less than five minutes walk from Troyes centre and has private parking. The hotel is more like a mini chateau, thoughtfully and comfortably furnished, and the owners are friendly and hospitable.

Review 7:There is nothing to dislike.

Review 8:Fabulous, staff friendly and helpful. Large well equipped rooms. Beautiful property. Breakfast was great. Fabulous location for exploring Troyes.

Review 9:In fact: nothing. Highly recommend this place!

Review 10:Very cozy, beautifully restored and clean guest house in a nice, peaceful location yet not far from the heart of Troyes. Our room was nicely warm in a very cold weather. Good beds and toilet facilities. Beautiful breakfast room, nice sofas in the living room. Lovely staff, too.

Review 11:I would have liked more fresh fruit for breakfast but generally excellent

Review 12:Beautiful house; lovely couple; excellent value for money; large comfortable room

Review 13:Even though we were staying 2 nights the maid threw away partly consumed water, emptied the kettle and rearrranged everything as on arrival. This is trivial but still annoying.

Review 14:Excellent location a short walk from the town centre. Very elegant decoration. Free parking and good WiFi.

Review 15:Hot water runs short in the morning shower.

Review 16:Big beautiful two rooms plus bath. Great location, good secure easy parking, very good breakfast, friendly and supportive owners. Heating system worked well, bed was very comfortable, large rooms to unpack and spread out. Good place to stay and relax. Hard to ask for anything more.

Review 17:Nothing

Review 18:Position for exploring Troyes was very good. Wonderful building and furnished to a very high standard. Secure parking. Excellent breakfast served by pleasant staff.

Review 19:no negative points to this hotel

Review 20:the whole hotel was high quality, from the decor to the breakfast, exceptional value, great experience, recommend it to anyone.

Review 21:5pm is rather late to check in after a long drive - I think they should rethink this

Review 22:Great location close to the centre, secure parking with no extra charge, beautiful house and rooms, pleasant, helpful staff, good breakfast.

Review 23:Nothing to dislike.

Review 24:Wonderfully warm welcome. Beautiful, elegant and exquisitely furnished house. Huge room with fantastic fixtures and fittings. Great breakfast. Just a few minutes' walk from Troyes centre.

Review 25:Floor surfaces were creaky which meant visiting the loo overnight couldn't be done discretely! A minor issue though.

Review 26:Good secure parking. Pleasant room. Plentiful breakfast. Very chic style room. Very close into Troyes centre and all it has to offer

Review 27:A great location with easy access to sights and restaurants while tucked away. We also liked the set up for parking via a gated entrance. Excellent customer service and room exceeded our expectation.

Review 28:Small bathroom. On a noisy road however that's the price you pay for being in a city.

Review 29:Lovely old house just a short walk from the heart of Troyes. Spacious room and free parking.

Review 30:Pretty helpful young lady welcomed us showed us the room and gave us information on the town. The room was spacious with plenty of character. Young Man at breakfast was very pleasant and the breakfast itself was lovely.

Review 31:A beautiful townhouse very close to the centre of town. Comfortable and spacious room. Good breakfast included in the price. Also free, secure parking.and wifi.

Review 32:our only quibble - not being able to sign in until 5pm

Review 33:everything about it good location - calm but near town centre. charming staff, excellent accommodation, our room for three people had separate bathroom with bath and overhead shower, separate loo, unusual but charming decor etc. private parking much appreciated. Value for money

Review 34:no bad experience.

Review 35:This is a place that should be kept secret. Otherwise so many people will discover a wonderful place to stay and we will not get a room. The room was tastefully decorated as was the lounge, hall and bereakfast room. Breakfast was first class, and served superbly by the young man , the nephew of the proprietor. He was friendly, pleasant and most welcoming. The house is a small, town chateaux and is situated close to the old town. Well worth a stay and a very pleasant experience.

Review 36:A brilliant first night stay on our two week tour of Europe! Wonderfully close to town with all amenities in a beautiful old house. Secure parking, good breakfast and decent nights sleep - and at a very reasonable price indeed.

Review 37:Room was large but had a cheap feel to the decoration. It was trying to be a "boudoir" but ended up being a bit tacky. The red shower effect curtain to give the impression of curtains around the bed did not work. Bathroom and shower a bit tired. Not enough towels.

Review 38:Good location, free secure parking. Nice property with pleasant patio/garden. Breakfast included but was quite limited.

Review 39:We were made very welcome with tea/ coffee in our room. The house is beautiful and interesting. Location to town, restaurants and shopping is within easy walking distance. Breakfast was lovely.

Review 40:Kettle plug didn't reach wall socket from table so had to boil it on floor.

Review 41:Ideal location to make the most of our visit. Was a very hot day so the fan in the room was well used!

Review 42:No flexibility with 5pm check in. Reversing out of car park difficult due to post near side wall. Restricts reversing distance.

Review 43:Excellent location to city centre where restaurants, shops and tourist sights located. Information on the sights and map of centre ville provided upon arrival. Breakfast provided, with a smile, at an early check out. On site parking g a bonus.

Review 44:Couldn't get onto internet. But then hardly ever can and it could be because we are a a "mature" couple. :( No air conditioning and it was exceptionally hot when we visited. Fan provided was only just adequate and somewhat noisy. No shower only an attachment over a slightly odd corner bath/tub arrangement (which we saw elsewhere in France on this trip too.)

Review 45:Troyes is a lovely place which continues to improve the way it exploits its amazing heritage. This hotel is just far enough away from bustle of town for us. Others may prefer more central. Friendly staff. Secure off street parking.

Review 46:Breakfast could be better. Given how excellent breakfast is in France, we were somewhat disappointed

Review 47:Beautiful place, great service, great location. Excellent value for money.

Review 48:There are stairs up to the property and the rooms. We had to unpack our large suitcase into a smaller one to get it into the hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who had difficulty lifting suitcases. We can usually manage but this is quite difficult.

Review 49:An unusual hotel close to the centre of Troyes Secure parking was excellent and well controlled. The room was comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was very good.

Review 50:Room in attic far too hot, WIFI didn't work, late check-in (5pm), terrace and sitting room all shut by time we got back at 10pm.

Review 51:Beautiful house, friendly staff, great location.

Review 52:The location of this hotel is perfect - just 2 minutes walk from the city centre with guest parking. First floor rooms have high ceilings and good views - second floor are a bit "under the rafters" but fine for an overnight stop.

Review 53:Aircondition might be usefull during a hot summer like we had. Size of the shower in the Suite room is a bit small.

Review 54:Top location, direct access to the centre of the city. A very nice building. Breakfast was top.

Review 55:The home made croissant are not so good... Should get them from the local bakery

Review 56:This is a great hotel, best value in Troyes... Friendly and comfortable with a great location... A character property with plenty of features including a fabulous breakfast...

Review 57:On the top floor, 40.degrees outside. 50 in the room, only 1 fan which was like a blow torch. At breakfast, joined a table of 2 others. Had to ask for croissants as none left in bread basket!

Review 58:Location with secure parking. Superb.

Review 59:We were welcomed with open arms by our hosts and what a beautiful home & B&B they have. The room with facilities were faultless and the breakfast all products locally sourced was exceptional. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. We loved it here.

Review 60:Excellent location for exploring Troyes, beautiful old building furnished quirkily but appropriately. Excellent breakfast. Would definitely stay again.

Review 61:Nothing at all to dislike!

Review 62:Fabulous! Location just a few minutes from the town centre. Staff couldn't be more helpful, especially the guy who served the breakfast. He was so friendly and gave us a lot of information about the town. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. Thank you Alain!

Review 63:Liked it all

Review 64:Grandiose decor, beautiful superbly maintained building in a city we only visited as a stop over en route to the Ardèche. Troyes is a beautiful place to visit and we'll hopefully visit again and would stay at this b and b again. Lovely breakfast. Large room.Private free parking.

Review 65:This is an old building, so there is little or no sound insulation. We could hear the ablutions from next door - and they could probably hear ours! No air conditioning.

Review 66:Great location for exploring the centre of Troyes. Less than 5 minutes walk to historic buildings, restaurants etc. Large rooms. Good breakfast.

Review 67:Nothing to dislike. Only hotel on our tour through France that had lovely soft towels.

Review 68:The location was wonderful, just a short walk to the old town with its lovely buildings. A little oasis with nice garden. The owner was very welcoming and wanting to please. Large comfortable bedroom.

Review 69:The position is perfect to visit Troyes. The car park is free and secure. The room was beautifully decorated and the staff could not do enough to help.

Review 70:The Villa is in a superb location within a short stroll of the medieval centre of the town. Staff were very friendly and helpful lending us a parapluie to shelter from the rain when we went out for a meal in the evening! Rooms beautifully furnished in a modern yet period style and spotlessly clean - no hesitation in recommending this stopover.

Review 71:Slightly noisy on Saturday night as near junction with main road.

Review 72:Lovely spacious, light and airy room, friendly owner, great breakfast, very central location, comfortable bed. Good bathroom. Very clean and comfortable, nice sitting room and garden.

Review 73:Great stop off on our,way south. Secure parking, beautiful room, very comfy bed, all the little extras water, speciality teas, toiletries. Nice breakfast It was a fabulous guesthouse and great value for money

Review 74:Wifi was unreliable and is the obvious opportunity for improvement. The large TV in our room was old and difficult to operate.

Review 75:Good location. Secure parking a bonus. Overall a very comfortable stay.

Review 76:We liked everything about this hotel. It is a grand old house with spacious high ceiling rooms and a beautiful oak staircase. Car parking was free within the grounds. We received a warm welcome. Our rooms were very spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and staff sociable and attentive. Access to town facilities within walking distance. A very enjoyable visit.

Review 77:That we weren't there longer!

Review 78:This B&B was just the best. Lovely building with a big, comfortable room and its own parking lot! We stayed here our last night before flying out from Paris and my wife commented that she wished we could have stayed in places like this one the entire time. Though we had very few complaints about the rest of our accommodations, this definitely stood out as the best.

Review 79:I liked everything.

Review 80:A beautiful house. Luxurious, airy room. Hosts very friendly and helpful. Wonderful breakfast and parking on site. A short walk to the town centre.

Review 81:Breakfast was lacking, only options for cereal were kids varieties and no toaster. Could be easily improved with muesli/granola and better fruit selection. Sani-flo type toilet noisy and bit smelly.

Review 82:Great value for money, free parking and wifi. Lovely large old rooms with high ceiling-bags of character.

Review 83:only drawback was the two flights of stairs we had to climb as there was no lift. We did have help with our luggage though which was a plus.....our knees are not what they used to be!!

Review 84:We stayed in the "Romantique " room which was beautifully decorated....Classic French with a modern twist.....very large room with flat screen tv and availability to make our own tea/coffee in the room. Complimentary water..

Review 85:Beautiful old building. Very expensive and quirky styled. Lovely warm welcome from the owners. Good breakfast, good shower and a comfortable bed in a beautiful room. What more can you ask for? Recommended.

Review 86:The hotel offers great quality spacious rooms with comfortable beds, quirky decor and all very clean. The owners and staff exceptionally helpful and friendly. The only downside for us was that no one spoke any English but you might argue it adds charm to the place.

Review 87:The shower in our room was not quite to the standard of the rest of the accommodation but this minor negative did not spoil our experience.

Review 88:Our hosts were very welcoming, friendly and helpful and the interesting building is full of character with lovely rooms. An excellent continental type breakfast with particularly good coffee. A quiet location with good parking and a close walk to a great choice of restaurants, shops and a great food market and to the old city centre of Troyes which has lots of great half timbered buildings. Altogether a really enjoyable stopover on our way back from the French Alps.

Review 89:They only open at 5 pm. After a long drive and arriving early you cannot get to your room before that time.

Review 90:Secure location. The breakfast is very good.

Review 91:none at all!

Review 92:The staff and owner were so accommodating! We had a flat battery when we woke up and the owner tried to start us using jump leads but the terminals were too short on his car to get the clips on - no problem, he phoned a friend and within minutes he arrived and got us on our way :) Great breakfast and lovely room (we were in the red room) Highly recommended!

Review 93:My son who is 8 loved the huge tv in our room. I thought the décor was beautiful and everywhere felt spacious and elegant. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice ,cereals, breads, meats, cheese, eggs. very good value .We shall definitely book here again as it is a lovely way to start our holiday when we travel to les gets to ski and use Troyes as a stop over point.

Review 94:Wanted a pre-dinner cocktail but bar limited with choices and staff. Also, breakfast can be "richer."

Review 95:Strategic location, nice ambiance, spacious comfortable room and wonderful and helpful staff.

Review 96:A beautifully maintained old bank premises, with period decorations. Very clean & comfortable. Finished to a high standard with very good breakfast.

Review 97:Beautiful traditional french building and a lovely warm welcome from the owners. Good breakfast, good shower and a comfortable bed in a beautiful room. What more can you ask for? Recommended.

Review 98:Warm reception, told all about the location and where to eat, really helpfully. Room was great, we were in the Ruby room very spacious. Next time would book a room with a bath tub.

Review 99:Nothing!

Review 100:Everything! lovely people, clean and comfortable rooms, soft towels, modern showers and good variety of breakfast. The staff were also very flexible agreeing to let us have our breakfast earlier in order to catch a train. close to the town with an abundance of restaurants. Onsite secure parking an added bonus!

Review 101:Lovely manor converted into hotel, with beautiful rooms and attention to detail. Lovely comfy bed. Very good breakfast with French local products, very nice staff. Few minutes away from the centre. A must-stay!

Review 102:Some attention to detail finishes would help but overall the facilities are good

Review 103:Someone has an eye for giving a contemporary facelift to an old traditional French building - and making it work.

Review 104:Had to sit in car from 3.30pm in cold until 5pm as this was the earliest we could book in Not good at all if you are travelling from place to place

Review 105:Place and how close to centre

Review 106:Creaky floor but old villa, so in a way adds to the character

Review 107:Close to town centre Eclectic decore Friendly, welcoming hosts Spotless Nice breakfast

Review 108:We had to leave.

Review 109:The Villa is a fine building, located close to the beautiful, old centre of Troyes. Distinctively decorated in a rather theatrical style it is nonetheless homely and welcoming. We were very well looked after and the breakfast was generous and of top quality. With the added bonuses of free parking on site and good value for money we consider this place to be a real find.

Review 110:Location is excellent for walking in to town. Breakfast was very nice with a good selection on offer. Staff were wonderful ensuring we had everything we needed. Secure car park within the grounds.

Review 111:Nothing....

Review 112:David, the owner's nephew was very helpful and would do anything to make your stay great. We were given directions to a small champagne house to taste. It was grand. Thank you David!

Review 113:Our room was on the top floor. It had all the signs of a room - that was normally in use ie not let out. There was a persistent but small bad smell - almost like a sewage leak.

Review 114:The general location right on the edge of the old city was very convenient. The rooms that we saw (casually) other than ours looked to be quite marvelous - big, airy.grand style, comfortable. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 115:The Wi-Fi system really need improvement, did not reach the room for connection.

Review 116:The rooms were big and very comfortable and very well fitted out. The position to the old town was excellent and without any disturbance from the city life.

Review 117:Just a little worn around the edges.

Review 118:Excellent location, with secure on-site parking and within easy walking distance of the old city. Good sized rooms with drinks facilities, very good breakfasts with a good choice produce. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 119:Nothing. Or perhaps a shower ...

Review 120:Fantastic old villa with modern facilities. Very very big and comfortable room and nice bathroom. Coffee/tea/maker in room. Wonderful breakfast served by one of the nice owners. Interesting furnitures and details in room and breakfast room. Parking in garden. Waking distance to nice bistros and cafés.

Review 121:The room was large. The hosts were very nice & helpful although they didn't speak much English we got over that problem very well. I enjoyed staying there.

Review 122:Nothing really, I planned my arrival for between17:00 and 21:00 and everything was just perfect from there on in.

Review 123:I loved everything about the place, I was a solo motorcyclist and ridden up from Monaco on route to UK. The facilities we excellent but no food served in the evening, no problem though as a great selection of Brasseries were a 2 minute walk away. Secure parking and lovely people there.

Review 124:Nothing to dislike. All very good

Review 125:We have stayed here previously and will definitely stay again. Great little hotel with friendly and very helpful owners.

Review 126:Nothing.

Review 127:The owners were very friendly and helpful, the suite was larger than some of the apartments I'd lived in. Lovely spacious property with only five suites, all different but equally nice. Situated right at the very edge of the historic centre of Troyes - perfect location to explore the beautiful city and the region.
