Reviews for Dolgun Uchaf
Review 1:The room that we booked online wasn't what we got when we arrived which was very disappointing. The staff were very friendly and apologetic and even offered the room we stayed in at a discount price but unfortunately we were misled by the images on booking.com.
Review 2:Great location, comfortable apartment.
Review 3:The kitchen could have been slightly better equipped with newer pots and pans. Supplies of dishwashing tablet were also not adequate for the duration of our stay.
Review 4:The easy to find location within snowdonia national park, spacious living area, friendly staff and excellent cooked breakfasts.
Review 5:The difficulty was personal. There was a spiral staircase to upstairs to access the bathroom, and I was recovering from a broken hip at the time. However I managed, and there was also a l out couch in the downstairs area if I had chosen to use it.
Review 6:the accommodation, food and sleeping arrangements were all excellent.
Review 7:Situated just off the main road and signposted so easy to find. Despite its location no traffic noise and enjoyed a good night sleep from the comfortable bed. Friendly staff and a better experience than I expected as it was one of the cheaper options.Bike wash onsite if you are in the area for mountain biking.
Review 8:The weather, but I suppose they can't do much about that!
Review 9:Friendly staff who were prepared to serve breakfast at 6am. Very helpful in sourcing Diesel when all petrol stations in the area had closed by 7.30pm on a Saturday night!
Review 10:The room was excellent. Super king bed. Walk in shower. Very clean. Staff couldn't do enough. They brought us tea and coffee when we arrived and because we had a dog they even brought us breakfast across the yard to our room in the middle of a gale!
Review 11:Very small room considering we had a dog, radiator in bathroom didn't work, no blind fitted in bathroom window.... sofelt a little exposed.
Review 12:Nice area, staff friendly.
Review 13:Great location with beautiful views. Superbly clean, with a warm welcome and with great service. Excellent breakfast served in the morning. Would recommend to anyone.
Review 14:Need a bigger sign by the main road
Review 15:This is one of the nicest b&bs we have ever stayed at. It was a little hard to find, mind you we were traveling after dark and missed the sign. There are beautiful views, you can have tea in the garden, gorgeous horses as well. I'm a little OCD about cleanliness when we are traveling and this place was GREAT!
Review 16:Not bad, but the accomodation is some way out of the heart of the township, and parking is difficult in the centre of town. Not within walking dinstance.
Review 17:Very friendly, nice large room, and very good breakfast. Nice environment. Able to park there.
Review 18:The room was not as expected wit bears. Flat roof made it feel like we were in a former garage. Bulbs in bathroom and outside were blown. View was like a scrap yard with old containers.
Review 19:The staff were very welcoming. The room was comfortable. The full English breakfast was very nice. Nothing was too much trouble.
Review 20:I was only for one night, without food there, but place and house is just lovely. Really nice, sweet, very 'original' room (family room, three person), with kitchen, I would come back there if I had occasion for longer.. price..hard to say,but ok for the UK.
Review 21:Beautiful location nestled in the Welsh Snowdonia national park. We stayed in a lovely two bedroom apartment with a private drive and parking. Lovely views of the Welsh landscape dotted with grazing sheep. The apartment attached to a 500 year old farmhouse. A little difficult to find because the car GPS couldn't locate the address, but was in Google maps.
Review 22:Not bad but the pet sheep kept us awake on our first night
Review 23:Friendly people, great information, tho not as good as location wise as stated for us , thought it near Snowdonia
Review 24:Usually with a b&b I would expect a warm reception from the owners of the establishment, not from maids. Felt more like a hotel than a b&b - misty because the breakfast isn't actually included in the price.
Review 25:Fantastic location
Review 26:Could have blinds in the bathroom....felt a ''bit exposed' with the light on at night. Need mirror in the room ( next to elec point for hairdryer/ straighteners, had to take them into bathroom ....not sure how safe that is! ( room7))
Review 27:welcome tea/coffee and cake! Very clean accommodation, relaxed atmosphere. Secure parking. great views. Very high quality breakfast. Friendly staff.
Review 28:No opening window in our rather too small room, only double glassFrench doors affording no privacy as they looked out onto pathway used by other guests.
Review 29:Beautiful location.
Review 30:Wifi poor probably due to surrounding area.
Review 31:Lovely warm welcome , tour of accomodation and tea and Welsh cake available on arrival. Apartment was lovely.
Review 32:There wasn't enough seating for breakfast but then we didn't have to wait long
Review 33:The room and location. Surrounded by countryside and plenty of fresh air. Greeted by ducks. Food was good
Review 34:Steep and open spiral staircase; wooden treads quite slippery.
Review 35:Great location, very good, clean and well stocked apartment, lovely size, beautiful views. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful, consisted of tasty quality ingredients and was well cooked.
Review 36:Didn't realise on booking that camp site attached. No problem, but wasn't that clear on website as we booked
Review 37:Beautifully located, lots of walking in the area
Review 38:It's a lovely b & b and really close to Dolgellau which is a cute town! It had a really nice garden and a cosy lounge to chill out in. I'd definitely recommend staying here.
Review 39:Blinds on windows inadequate-could see into room. On groundfloor, privacy compromised. No extractor fan next to cooking facilities Hot and cold labelled incorrectly on taps-boyfriend scolded himself Pillows were either hard and bulky or thin and disintegrated Room let limited light in and had no view of scenic area.
Review 40:Tea and Welsh cake on arrival Room was clean Shower was warm and powerful
Review 41:Breakfast wasn't special (fatty) and staff bit distant.
Review 42:Great location and building. Lovely area for relaxation. Welcome coffee was splendid and because it is a little remote, it is lovely to escape the daily stress here.
Review 43:I could not dry my hair with the electric dryer and look in the mirror at the same time. Plug was too far from the mirrow
Review 44:Very friendly efficient staff, helped me carry my bags up to the room. Always difficult when you have case, handbag and laptop.
Review 45:Dirty carpets and steep stairs. Told breakfast was 7 pounds, if she had said it was for both of us we wouldn't have bothered going shopping.
Review 46:Self catering option. Comfortable bed.
Review 47:The rooms were well decorated and clean, friendly staff always willing to help. On arrival, welcomed with a nice pot of tea and welsh cakes, which went down well after a long motorbike ride to get there.
Review 48:The site also includes A caravan and Campsite which was extremely busy over the bank holiday just before we arrived other customers started it was not so good due to the septic tank being full and rubbish bins overflowing. We had a pleasant stay though, Not too busy.
Review 49:Location
Review 50:The location is beautiful and quiet, but very convenient for the main route North to Bala. The room was a reasonable size for the money and everything was perfectly clean and the shower worked well.
Review 51:bed was very comfortable which is important when having a long trip, breakfast was nicely cooked and hot, fast service staff very helpful and friendly.
Review 52:Altgough only B&B, the room was quality and clean, however the only thing that it was missing was a little fridge.
Review 53:The location was excellent. Just on the outside of the Town and also only 15 minutes (10 miles) from beautiful Barmouth beach. Also the breakfast was superb.
Review 54:Kitchen taps hot water burnt me -was dangerously hot. Bad nights sleep as bed do uncomfortable. Skylight windows left open and rain leaked onto bed and floors
Review 55:The space and cleanliness
Review 56:Room 5 toilet seat disgusting ,no toilet roll holder ..no bedside tables or bedside lights.
Review 57:Location and Tom at reception was amazing ,always went the extra mile!
Review 58:Beautiful accommodation and the surroundings were beautiful too!!! Excellent service from the staff and a very warm welcome with tea and cake. Recommend to anyone!!!!
Review 59:Wifi wouldn't work but was nice to switch off from everything
Review 60:We have a lovely stay, started off with a complementary tea on arrival, and ended with a lovely breakfast.
Review 61:Beautiful location, great walking country. Self catering apartment clean, comfortable, and cosy. Friendly staff who welcomed us with a pot of tea and Welsh cakes.
Review 62:Could hear snoring from next door but this is to be expected in a house like that. Lots of happy (noisy) children outside from 7.30am ;)
Review 63:Fine location, house with an atmosphere, lots of garden furniture outside, right next to little stream, duck with ducklings waddling about; we were welcomed with afternoon tea in the garden, great breakfast.
Review 64:Only a very small thing. Squeaky floorboards... And heard next door entering and leaving the room due to the door lock... (Only thing I could think of, and it's only because I'm a light sleeper) my partner heard none of this..
Review 65:The staff were very welcoming! Lovely tea and cake on arrival. The room was cosy, very clean. Wifi worked brilliantly. Location was beautiful. Easy to find. Didn't have breakfast, but smelt amazing!! Would defiantly recomend.
Review 66:No mobile signal and very poor WiFi performance in our room, No 7.
Review 67:Welcoming staff. Comfortable room. Good shower. Liked the complimentary coffee in the sitting room.
Review 68:Room quite dark, insufficient lighting. Room made up as double, not twin as requested, but quickly remedied.
Review 69:Drying room available for our wet clothes/boots.
Review 70:this place is fine. It's not run by the owners so it's not very homely. The decor is a bit cheap and dated. I wouldn't want to camp here as it's by the main road and noisy (you don't hear that in the rooms)
Review 71:Easy check in/ check out. Breakfast was good. Lounge area was comfy and homely. Our room unexpectedly had a living room area which was good.
Review 72:We stayed in Room 1, which was badly affected by the cooked breakfast smell from the kitchen. The strong smell lingered all day and night - ugh. Also there is a large campsite with no curfew as part of the premises - the revelling campers were shouting and drinking until 3am. Don't stay in Room 1 unless you can sleep through anything!
Review 73:The summer staff were very pleasant.
Review 74:Coffee table feel to bits, when I touched it - but owner was totally cool about the fix clearly hadn't worked!
Review 75:They kindly put us in downstairs room when they saw Dads invalid buggy. Allowed us to recharge the buggy at no charge. The room was an upgrade with a little kitchenette which was very handy.
Review 76:The Internet did not always work which was inconvenient as I needed to check my business email & Skype with family back in the states.
Review 77:Very modern with a nice play area for kids. Beautiful scenery, we took many walks, close to a town. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend the property to others.
Review 78:No complaints whatsoever
Review 79:Quaint and genuine in a Farm yard setting. Rooms small but delightful: clean and comfortable. Breakfast excellent with attentive, most helpful staff. prepared to help and advise.
Review 80:No beside tables or lights. Extra charge if one used the self catering kitchen which we did not request in the first place. Not easy to find and a touch far out of town. 1 below average restaurant in the area.
Review 81:Cooked breakfast good. Nice and quiet area.Laundry facilities at the caravan park.
Review 82:Usual tasteless B and B sausages - otherwise very good breakfast
Review 83:Beautiful traditional Welsh farmhouse tastefully modernised, only 2 kms from charming town of Dolgellau, with lovely views of Snowdonia
Review 84:quiet location, great friendly staff, made to feel very relaxed. We were shocked to find out they had a campsite also at the property which I'm sure now we know about it we will be using as we enjoy camping to
Review 85:Old farm buildings that have been converted into accommodation. Also area for camping and caravans in the middle of farming area. Very peaceful and relaxing.
Review 86:Location of the property is excellent for anyone wanting to enjoy walking / photography in Snowdonia National Park. Accommodation was comfortable and the staff were very friendly & helpful. I would definitely use the property again.
Review 87:nothing to dislike
Review 88:Lovely location, easy to access, good parking, clean room and en-suite. Interesting history to the building re the 'Quaker Trail'
Review 89:The extra beds were very uncomfortable. Visited as 2 couples so the sofa bed wasn't great and the single bed in the master bedroom felt unsafe.
Review 90:The apartment was lovely and modern. Bedroom was very nice. Facilities in the kitchen were all met.
Review 91:Misleading booking as did not include breakfast which we had to pay extra for. Insufficient parking.
Review 92:Friendly staff, clean and comfortable. Lots of birds & animals around.
Review 93:Our only (very minor) complaint was not having dining options for diner within walking distance.
Review 94:The proprietress and staff were VERY friendly for the entire duration of our trip, the room was exceptionally comfortable and well-appointed, and the location was for visiting Snowdonia National Park.
Review 95:Wifi could have been better.
Review 96:Stayed in one of the apartments which had a good sized open plan kitchen/living room, nice bathroom and comfortable beds. Good veranda with beautiful views.
Review 97:Was fine for us.
Review 98:Ideal location as a stop off for touring. Clean and spacious apartment. Spiral staircase so not suitable for anyone with a disability. Quiet location.
Review 99:Shower is on the small side not much room to move freely, in fact my husband who is on the larger side could not even get in the shower
Review 100:The area where located is stunning as is the B & B
Review 101:Nothing really. Wifi signal is not strong except in the breakfast room. No 3/4G network around either.
Review 102:Very cosy. Good beautiful location close to some good parts of snowdonia. We stayed in the one bed apartment and it was spacious enough for four of us. There is a camp site on the same property, but that is seperated from the apartments well. Very friendly staff.
Review 103:Excellent bed and breakfast which was dog friendly, a very warm welcome from a delightful young man. Good location for the many fabulous walks near Dolgellau.
Review 104:Apart from the lovely Rumanian girl who served us , we were never asked to sign in, or sign anything and dont who were the owners
Review 105:super room with all that anyone could want
Review 106:Inadequate location directions given on Booking.com website. Without SatNav took a little time to locate. (Very well worth the effort in finding it though).
Review 107:Stunning rural location. Beautiful cottage/farmhouse. Superb breakfasts. What more is needed?
Review 108:Really creaky floor Had to tip toe round sleeping baby! But would still recommend positives out weigh negative.
Review 109:Location perfect, converted barn really cosy, lovely staff. Really soft luxurious towels.
Review 110:Having to leave after just one night
Review 111:The B&B itself. The staff, particularly the lady who welcomed us in, and showed us to our room, the location. The whole package made for a most enjoyable stay
Review 112:not really a bad thing but the wifi was a wee slow
Review 113:Lovey Feel to the place with lovey old beams and nicely laid out room, A nice breakfast. Friendly staff. A very pleasant stay. and wish we could have stayed longer
Review 114:A privilege to stay in such a grand old farmhouse in a lovely setting - stunning views, farm animals and more. Our room was in the main original building with oak beams and panels. All mod cons - an en suite, tea coffee, optional wine, hairdryer, free wifi, etc. Great choice of breakfast - continental or full Welsh!
Review 115:Low grade finishes in the family room. For the cost of £105.00 I would expect quality bedding, towels, and furniture, not tatty furniture and cheapest flooring and dated everything. If they just spent a bit of money on the finishes and upgrade some of the fixtures they would warrant the cost.
Review 116:Externally it was beautiful
Review 117:The place said free parking but at the time of easter break thr was bit of confusion about parking. It's more like first come, first serve parking facility.
Review 118:Will visit again.
Review 119:Dolgellau only has 2 taxi drivers if paddy is busy you'll struggle to get back had to rely on a local chef to drop us back from the town which was 1.5 miles away which i wouldn't recommend walking
Review 120:Rooms were very clean, the setting was exactly what we wanted quiet with easy access to other areas of North wales
Review 121:Cottage; TV would dip out of signal now and again much to the kids frustration. No WiFi coverage Double bed was a little on the hard side. Double room; (No 6), double bed was two singles pushed together. Did not expect the previous(?) tenants underwear to greet us in the bathroom!! The cleaners could be a bit more thorough as we also found a used dummy and some rubbish under a cupboard in the cottage. For those with small children be aware that the farm traffic sometimes runs too fast through the site. Room Tip: Rooms with converted stable doors tend to let in more noise..
Review 122:The cottage and room were both spacious with modern facilities throughout. The location is a good base for both Mid and North Wales, Snowdon just an hour away. Disabled guests should find the access to their liking although check door widths as several are converted stable doors. Ample parking and camping facilities on site.
Review 123:Maybe some dog beds would have been nice. And a little bar so we could have mixed with the other guests
Review 124:Comfy beds and our room turned out to be a little apartment with a sofa and kitchen. Very happy.
Review 125:The pillows were very big and did not give at all. My neck hurt so I slept without one which was also uncomfortable. The wardrobes need to be monitored with young children as when the doors are open they tip easily. Could do with attaching to the wall for safety.
Review 126:The apartment was very homely and the views were lovely from the front room.
Review 127:Did not realise breakfast was extra cost to the price quoted.
Review 128:comfortable and in a good location. safe and secure storage for bikes and good bike facilities.
Review 129:Spiral wooden staircase very slippy in socks!. Shower slow to drain away water.
Review 130:Modern interior with stone floors downstairs and luxury bathroom upstairs. Felt truly welcoming by staff who cared. Lovely to be in the Welsh countryside. Peaceful. Will return - thank you!
Review 131:Had a little room to myself with a lounge and kitchen area and shower room and slept like a log on their comfortable bed. Breakfast was great too with very friendly staff
Review 132:Lovely converted cottage, very clean and spacious.Nearby town is only 2 min drive.Would definitely comeback again. Some people said that wi fi didn't work in their apartment but we didn't have any problems.Very happy...shame it was only 1 night
