Reviews for Miami Hotel

Review 1:We loved the comfy beds, room was ready on arrival although we arrived early. Staff were very pleasant, breakfast was big and well presented and everthing nice and clean.

Review 2:I really like The Miami, this is my third visit here, the staff are friendly as are some locals that call in to use the bar. The rooms here are comfortable and well appointed. The bar snack food is also very good and breakfast here is also a good standard.

Review 3:Room decor was very tired & dated especially in the reception, bar & restaurant. Not a pleasing place to spend the evening. Poor service at breakfast & in the bar.

Review 4:Location

Review 5:I get that the hotel isn't the ritz or trying to be and that its price market aims at a certain price point but still it is very dated as far as things go

Review 6:The complimentary biscuits

Review 7:The bar / reception staff were ok.. but I didn't like the way they were laughing about one of the residents in the bar behind his back... not very professional imo.. The breakfast staff were terrible. Our waitress was "loitering" at our table until we ordered. We were also moved from our initial table in case they got busy. Hot food was served in around a minute of ordering. So obviously already plated...

Review 8:I was there for a course and the toilets were in a terrible state. They were not cleaned over the two days and were often blocked because they didn't flush well. The toilet paper also wasn't replenished. I stayed overnight and had to change rooms. The first room had such an overpowering smell of sewage it made you gag upon entry. There were thick cobwebs in the corners of the room which had been there for sometime and had built up in layers. The second room was much cleaner, however, when you put the bathroom fan on the smell of sewage filtered into the room again (although not as strong as in the other room) so I kept this off the whole time.

Review 9:The staff were friendly and polite.

Review 10:The place could do with a bit of modernising.

Review 11:Lovely receptionist, who was extremely helpful, making mine and my friends short stay smooth and comfortable.

Review 12:The hotel need a complete renovation and internet conection

Review 13:The location amd the hotel is fine for a few days trip. Is outside the city center and you have a big Tesco next door

Review 14:The reception staff were ok, but could have been a little more "cheerie" when leaving, "thank you for your stay" would have been nice instead of bye! and a welcoming smile at breakfast wouldn't have gone a miss!

Review 15:Location for me is great, bed comfortable, room clean

Review 16:Nothing

Review 17:Lovely staff. Retro decor! Very 70's - which of course is now very fashionable! Not shabby and very clean. Lovely comfortable bed in a spacious room with a lovely clean bathroom with no mouldy grout! Also great dinner and breakfast.

Review 18:Shower wasn't powerful at all took about half an hour to attempt a quick shower.

Review 19:Extra blankets and pillows provided. Couldn't really hear traffic. Staff where very welcoming

Review 20:Bed very small even though a double ? Towels very small lighting poor

Review 21:Very warm hotel breakfast good but economical portions but addressed when requested

Review 22:The tv signal was terrible - no Ariel The wifi signal was also poor Too old fashioned Rubbish hair dryer Small cramped shower Uncomfy beds Loud busy traffic

Review 23:The hotel was comfortable but unfortunately it seems rather tired and in need of a face lift.

Review 24:I only had breakfast which I enjoyed. It was well cooked and well served (apart from the marmalade and butter which were in nasty small plastic containers but this seems usual these days). The room was comfortable and had all I required.

Review 25:Could be more bar staff available and had to find a waitress to serve me at breakfast but overall the staff are very helpful and friendly.

Review 26:Rooms are always very clean.

Review 27:Nothing all perfect for my budget and what I needed.

Review 28:Friendly staff, easy location for what I needed and value for money. Excellent freshly cooked breakfast included n the price. Was quoted for a single room and ended up with a bungalow with double bed hitch was nice.

Review 29:We had to go out early evening & the main menu wasnt avaibale till 6.30 so the only item we could order was a sandwhich, would have liked something more substantial

Review 30:Staff were very helpful, the rooms were a bit old fashioned, even had a trouser press but were clean & comfortable,

Review 31:Maybe breakfast time could be extended till 11am as many people have been out the night before and on a saturday that would be a great to have till that time on a Sunday!.

Review 32:I liked the overall stay not much I could not find fault with. Would recommend the hotel. friendly staff and a comfortable stay...

Review 33:Breakfast was fine but unfortunately I cant say the same about the lady who served us, , she seemed very unfriendly and I have yet to see her smile, was like she didn't want to be there. The shower door was in a poor condition making it difficult to open and close, our checkout time was 1 o clock yet the cleaner opened the door to our room at 10.15 and again at 11.15 as she had not been informed we had paid for late checkout, yet even if we had to leave on time it was 11 o clock checkout so why open the door at 10.15,my husband and I were not dressed and therefore found this quite uncomfortable and embarrassing.

Review 34:when we first arrived we were given a warm welcome by the gentleman on reception and again in the morning by a female receptionist. We paid extra for late checkout but unfortunately our room card wasn't changed therefore when loading our car we were locked out and had to disturb the cleaner to let us back in who reassured us it was fine and she was happy to help.

Review 35:Arrived on Friday night room was very damp smelling so went to Tesco's for some can's of air freshner. Noisy air conditioning unit with water stains above it probably leaking so turned that off and the tinest shower cubicle ever with very poor water pressure. That said for the price and armed with cans of air freshner I was prepared to let these complaints go until on at 2.00am Sunday morning we woken up by stupid idiots in a stag party hammering on our door, laughing and running off into their rooms. They then continued to bang shut their doors, open them and shut them again, laughing and making noise until 4.00 am I would have hoped that someone from Management would come up to deal with the situation but as the noise continued it was obvious no one in the hotel gave a dam, could hear anything, or see anything which was very strange given that CCTV is on site and the reception desk is at the bottom of the stairwell. Felt very threatened and uncomfortable that in order to get some respite from these antics that I would have to confront these idiots. In the end I rang reception at 4.15 am on their outside line to get a response from anyone. The banging of doors stopped but someone was still talking on their mobile in the communal area outside our room. Very unhelpful Manager who tried to tell me that all this noise was because members of the stag party could not find they way to their rooms. What a rubbish excuse as they were having no trouble using their room keys to open and bang shut the doors so they were well aware of where their rooms were. Said I wanted a full refund for our second nights stay and he refused on the grounds that we used their services and had breakfast. Well we could hardly leave the premises at 5.00 am !!! Ungraciously refunded £28 which was a bitter pill to swallow and made to feel that my complaint and request for full nights refund was unjustifiable when we had spent £170 for two nights!!!

Review 36:Noisy doors slamming. No lift. Noisy water bubbling in ceiling.

Review 37:Room and food good good. Would like serve yourself of all food and more variety of cereals.

Review 38:The staff for Sunday breakfast were not on the ball. We were not offeredbaked beans as we were on Saturday, and when we asked for some the girlforgot and they didn't come until we had finished our meal. She wasnot bothered. Not a good advert for the Hotel.

Review 39:An excellent room only a few yards from rear door.

Review 40:I like this hotel as it has very good and attentive staff and has some character about it, a sort of eighties feel. I have now stayed here 3 times.

Review 41:Room was very dated with a cracked handbasin and mouldy shower fittings, plus my room door didnt lock properly from the inside. There was a strange smell in the room - like dust off an electric heater - but I couldn't find out where it came from, and noise travels between rooms so I was kept awake until 2am by loud TV from the room next door.

Review 42:Staff were friendly and helpful, restaurant area was clean and service good.

Review 43:The toilet in the room smelt of stale urine we reported it to the man on the desk but the toilet still did not get cleaned properly

Review 44:Good location. Friendly helpful staff in bar and restaurant Food was very good.

Review 45:Nothing.

Review 46:The staff were excellent very friendly and very helpful as we had car trouble they got us a different car with Thrifty they were also funny. And our problems with Hertz went away

Review 47:Noise from the boy racers in Tesco car park Not something that the Miami can do anything about

Review 48:Great family run hotel Big on suite Excellent breakfast Handy for everywhere in the area and London

Review 49:Pipes mad a noise all night could not get any sleep .thought the shelves that held the kettle and cups tea a milk could have done with a wipe over.also more then 2 tea satchels would have been nice.

Review 50:Shower was poor, dated and lacked pressure. Television had poor reception and three random channels. Decor was very dated and much in need of updating.

Review 51:Location is good, staff are decent and the price is fair.

Review 52:The shower had very little power, the hotel was very dated, some of staff rude , lady in bar Saturday night very nice and helpful, teabag taken out of pot so was like water.

Review 53:That it was easy to find and near party we were going to, breakfast nice and hot just very small.

Review 54:Woken up very early by the noise of doors of the next room banging on three consequetive mornings. Asked if there was an alternative room available but staff were not very helpful. Not a nice place for a woman travelling on her own to stay. No wifi in bedrooms

Review 55:Being right next to the main road meant earplugs at night time-triple glazing would make all the difference. A waitress also snapped at a guest for having the temerity to politely ask for coffee and toast whilst walking past after clearing a table; she backtracked immediately but in this day and age of customer service that was embarrassingly poor.

Review 56:Food was actually very good and speedily delivered to table, and the inclusive breakfast was also rather tasty. The fact the hotel smelled likes your grandma's house and was decorated as such was quietly comforting :)

Review 57:Very noisy, took a lot of effort to get Reception to deal with noisyguests satisfactorily. Room was dated and in great need ofrefurbishment. Hot water tank ran cold by 9.00am. Shower cubicle base inpoor state of repair. No interest by receptionist as to how our stay waswhen we checked out.

Review 58:Breakfast served quickly, hot, acceptable quality of ingredients

Review 59:It was a bit pricey for the hotel's quality. Need a bit more variety for breakfast eg some hot croissants, pain au chocolat, some nice delicatessen etc (Tesco is only next door). Need some quiet background music at breakfast and entertainment evening time.

Review 60:We like the welcoming of the staff specially David I think he was David (please check the name as he was on duty on that night), who made us a good cup of coffee as we arrived after midnight after the celebration of our daughter's wedding with a group of friends. I looked for him to thank him but he already left. Please thank him for me.

Review 61:WiFi only available in conference rooms. Very hot and no air conditioning. Menu short and expensive. The place seemed like a throwback to the seventies. Noisy workman in room next door. Room key needed jiggling to unlock door.

Review 62:Not a lot.

Review 63:not a bad experience at all just the shower in our room was not very good

Review 64:the friendliness of the staff if we at up your way again we would stay with you again

Review 65:It was like going back 20 years but with 2015 prices. Dated decoration and facilities, no wifi in room.

Review 66:We were allowed an early check-in when we arrived early.

Review 67:Finding a Stanley knife blade on the carpet in the bedroom. Needing to point out the bathroom light fitting which was falling off the ceiling.

Review 68:The reception staff were friendly & helpful.

Review 69:We were not informed of breakfast times or if it was included in our room price, no mention of wifi. Furniture was all different and dated, was like walking into something you'd see in faulty towers, sofa had a ripped arm....the place just needs updating and brought back to life. Cleaning staff woke us at 9.30am to see if we were ready for the room to be cleaned when check out isn't until 11am....ridiculous! We then went to the bar area around 10.30am to see if we could get something to eat, sat at a table looking at a menu and not one member of staff asked if we needed anything or even a good morning. When checking out we were not even questioned about our thoughts on our stay just a mumbled thank you as if they didn't have time for us.

Review 70:Plenty of parking!

Review 71:The bed was very uncomfortable, soft and spongy. Bathroom not very good, a bit tired and perhaps in need of upgrade.

Review 72:Reception was friendly upon arrival. Generally the hotel was clean. Staff were good.

Review 73:Very poor shower and general condition of room. Basin was not cleaned prior to our stay or while we were there. Nothing was done about the shower even though it was reported just after our arrival.

Review 74:One night very disturbed by noise (shouting, screaming et. al.) This was blamed on "Travellers" who had come in. .However, I tend to distrust this kind of stereotyping and scapegoating but recognise that it could have been true.

Review 75:Good sized room , decent breakfast .and helpful staff.

Review 76:At 2am on a Monday night the hotel was run amok with out of control guests (I believe approximately 30) who had no regard at all for the sleeping guests. The hotel had no way of controlling them and would not call the police (I wish I had) or get back up staff in to take control of the situation. What is equally bad is that I received no apology, acknowledgement or discount from the hotel for what was a pretty terrible experience.

Review 77:It was close to where I was working.

Review 78:The hotel as a whole is a bit dated. on the website it says free wifi but we didn't get any in the rooms bars or restaurant. the poor staff were rushing around at breakfast in fairness it was probably unusually busy for them but they knew that had a function there should have been extras to make up for it instead of relying on 1 member of staff that then every one else had to come in and help leaving the reception empty. the water pressure of the shower was none existent i specifically booked a shower because i knew we was gonna be in the sun all day and would like to wash up before bed and the TV only had 4 channels 2 of which were only live after 7pm (BBC3 BBC4) this wouldnt have been so bad if there had been the wifi as advertised. we;ve have stayed in more looked after hotels in higher priced areas for Less than what we paid

Review 79:The Staff were very nice and helpfull nice to talk to. the room was clean and tidy.

Review 80:on arrival was told that only one room was booked(i had luckily bought the written confirmation with me) Receptionist quickly organised another room and ordered us a taxi. Room smelt very strongly of smoke but was otherwise ok.

Review 81:location for what we needed was fine. Breakfast was very good and freshly cooked tea and coffee making facilities

Review 82:The shower was completely useless, a tiny dribble of water which was awful when we were staying for a week. We resorted to taking the head off which didn't help much. The lock was sticky and took a lot of fiddling to get in. It really wasn't worth £85 a night!

Review 83:The location was good for my partner's course. The hotel and car park seemed very secure with 24 hour CCTV. Air con was good if a bit noisy.

Review 84:down side to our stay, no air/con and if you had windows open very noise with traffic

Review 85:staff friendly. we had a meal their friday night and breakfast saturday & sunday excellent Hotel room very clean

Review 86:Dated bathroom, shower trickled out and the bedroom carpet looked unclean. Air con machine (even when switched off) repeatedly 'ran up' all night long.

Review 87:Breakfast was good, when it finally arrived.

Review 88:When I enquired about an early breakfast I was told it started at 7.15am. The guy on reception then proceeded to eat his cooked breakfast in full view. if he can do it for himself he should be willing to do it for everyone..... Also the TV kept pixelating and losing the picture. Hotel is right on top of a busy roundabout

Review 89:They changed my room when I said it was noisy

Review 90:Breakfast very poor Although fruit was on the menu they didn't have any!! The staff weren't even apologetic about this

Review 91:Desperately in need of a thorough clean They don't know where corners are in the bedroom or bathroom!! Nor to notice when a toilet bowl would benefit from a bleach clean!!

Review 92:Bar staff short changed me but may have been a genuine mistake. Couldn't pay in cash without jumping through lots of hoops which was frustrating.

Review 93:Plenty of facilities in the room. Bar was good, a little on the expensive side. Didn't try food but looked nice when brought out to others.

Review 94:None!

Review 95:Online booking - excellent. Reception lady - great, efficient, friendly Room - excellent, just right for 1 person Shower/loo - clean and spacious Bed - firm and very comfortable Breakfast - really excellent, good brisk and polite service. After a very arduous day helping son move out of his house, arrived in a hot, dirty condition at 9pm to find a wonderful oasis in Chelmsford, welcoming and extremely comfortable! Thank you all for helping to make our short stay very enjoyable - and great VFM!

Review 96:Everything else, stained carpets, scuffed walls, cigarette burn in bedroom armchair, hairdryer from the 60's I.e. No power, dirty table cloths, ripped tablecloths, scrambled eggs inedible, fork bounced of them like a sponge, no choice of fruit on poor breakfast buffet, leaky coffee jugs.

Review 97:Staff were excellent

Review 98:The room was not very clean and the bathroom filthy. Although there was a warning re hot water at the sink, it was too hot even to wash your hands under. The shower was very intermittent re temp and would have scalded a child or older person. Only one of the glasses in the bathroom was covered in plastic, does that mean the other one wasn't cleaned? We choose not to use either. I also feel that 2 packets of buscuits could have been provided as to share one seems mean. The heating/ air con system didn't appear working.

Review 99:Staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 100:Room was next to the boiler so as loud as tina turner's final numberat wembley, all night long making a right old racket, shower was eitherboiling hot or ice cold and just dribbled out like a teething baby! Itwas just like my nans, everything needs updating! Premier inn is cheaperand bang up to date!

Review 101:Bar staff

Review 102:Internet connection in back of phone was an old fitting and DIDN'T fit my modern connection, so no internet in my room! Many must have found this. Air conditioning was noisy, kept coming on and off with a drone. Bed springs felt in places - well over time for new mattresses!

Review 103:TV worked well and bedding was very clean and good. Room facilities good for couple of nights.

Review 104:From when I woke at 6 a.m. there was a loud sound of boiling water from outside the room possibly next door. It lasted until at least 8.30 a.m.

Review 105:The food in the restaurant dinner and breakfast were very good. Staff very friendly

Review 106:I DID'NT REALISE THE ROOM HAD AIR CON TILL THE MORNING, BUT THATS MY FAULT HA HA

Review 107:BREAKFAST AND THE NIGHT GUY WAS FRIENDLY AND AWAKE, GREAT BREAKFAST SERVED BY UPBEAT HAPPY STAFF

Review 108:The bed was dreadful and the bed linen even worse. Unforgivable now. I had very little sleep and my back is still recovering. I could live with the dated décor and even the old very small towels but not the cheap and nasty bed and bed linen.

Review 109:Staff. Location .

Review 110:Rather a way out of Chelmsford centre. Very tired décor and bar area could do with being made more appealing. Breakfast was well cooked but coffee was very odd tasting and no muesli, croissants or offer of brown toast.

Review 111:Clean quiet room with a comfortable bed - the most important needs well met. Reasonable breakfast. Good wi-fi in our rooms, despite being told only accessible in the bar. Plenty of parking. Easy to operate air conditioning which we needed on a hot night.

Review 112:As soon as we arrived we asked about a taxi which the receptionist booked immediately to and from our venue.Friendly staff at the bar which opened till midnight and waiter service at breakfast

Review 113:The sofa in the room was torn and dirty, rather a let down I thought when everything else was good

Review 114:The service received at breakfast as well as the food itself.

Review 115:I was really disappointed that breakfast wasn't served until 8am. I had to check out at 8am so left without having anything to eat despite having paid for breakfast.

Review 116:Other than not being able to have breakfast I was happy with all other aspects of my stay.

Review 117:My initial room allocation was on the front of he hotel and very noisy from traffic for most of the night.

Review 118:Dining room and bar was pleasant and service was reasonably good.

Review 119:For a hotel in this day and age the showers are pathetic and for the price of the hotel you shouldn't have to run around in it to get wet The beer is overpriced

Review 120:The staff are very pleasant The food is ok It was a couple of minutes from where I'm working

Review 121:The shower is old and needs to be replaced with a modern one which does alternate between scalding and freezing. The shower head height cannot be adjusted and is only suitable for a person who is 6 feet tall. The sink was chipped and the toilet handle was stained.

Review 122:Breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.

Review 123:The rooms are very dated. The shower was poor. There is also a distinctive sewage smell when you reach the landing. Some rooms are a good so,e but the TV is small by comparison

Review 124:The lounge and dining area were good offering a good breakfast served by friendly staff

Review 125:top floor room had a constant droning sound like fast running water, shower was so weak that if you had long hair you'd never get the shampoo rinsed out. Room was tired and in need of refurbishment. Wifi didn't reach top floor.

Review 126:breakfast was ok

Review 127:Decor is a bit dated some of the bedroom walls had greasy looking marks on them. The keyring the key came on was huge, not ideal for taking out. Security guard took an age to open the door at 3am which wasn't ideal. We paid £84 for our room, personally I think it would be far better value at around sixty to seventy.

Review 128:Location is only ten mins walk to the centre, we walked there and back twice and it was a decent walk. Breakfast was nice. Bathroom was spacious with decent facilities. Bed was comfortable. Lots of room for parking. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel is situated next to a tescos and petrol station which was very useful.

Review 129:The staff were very nice, polite and welcoming, we stayed here as we attended a wedding not far from here, we needed an early booking the staff was very helpful and made this possible

Review 130:The couple next door were too noisy,in their eyes the party they went to carried on in there room, shouting, singing, and laughing, and the male kept blowing a blow out and they kept banging and thumping around, even though I asked them to keep the noise down.

Review 131:Room comfortable and clean, all staff very nice and helpful.Great breakfast and bar.

Review 132:Needs re-decorating but I think this is being done. Menu needs changing more often.

Review 133:I have been staying at this hotel for several years. Friendly service and nice clean room. Same staff which is a good sign.

Review 134:Shower was a bit weak and bathroom a bit dated

Review 135:Good price for single traveller with good quality breakfast and free parking a mile from edge of town centre.

Review 136:All I have to say is there was mould on the blinds! 'Full English Breakfast' was more like the left overs of everyone else.

Review 137:Location was ideal for the purpose of stay we had. Even though we was right next to the round about and busy streets it didn't keep us awake at night.

Review 138:Shower didn't work in the room, cigarette butt was on the floor of a non smoking room. Reception was quick to change us to another room. A trifle overpriced at 84 pounds

Review 139:Staff were friendly and cheerful. Room was quiet
