Reviews for Hotel Saint Julien

Review 1:It was a hotel made in heaven ... wonderful staff, wonderful decor, wonderful breakfast ... Perhaps the most memorable place we stayed in during two months of traveling through the region. Pure delight!

Review 2:Slightly pricy, but such is Biarritz! Italian showers are nice, except when the bathroom is small and there is little to protect it from getting all soaked.

Review 3:Great accessibility to everything in Biarritz center, including the bus lines to the train station and airport. Great views from the third floor (with elevator).

Review 4:Everything was better than we expected from a 3 star! We didn't reserve a car spot, but they found a way to workouts in to the lot! Nice family with good friendly staff run this small house/hotel

Review 5:Wooden floors were a bit noisy when other guests were walking about. Tea and coffee making facilities would have been a bonus.

Review 6:Very nice room. Tastefully decorated, fabulously comfortable bed. Excellent bathroom very modern and clean. Staff were very helpful and so pleasant. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Review 7:Hotel was located up a steep hill. Expensive for a 3 star.

Review 8:Stayed in a family room it was lovely, very clean. Bathroom was impressive. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 9:Very friendly owners and lovely breakfast, they also gave fantastic recommendations to eat and drink locally. The room was large and comfortable. Easy to walk to anywhere in the city centre.

Review 10:No complains at all. Everything was perfect.

Review 11:Perfect hotel almost in center of Biaritz. Private parking, wi-fi, clean, spaceous and comfortable room, 5 min walk to plage and restaurants. Very kind andf helpfull staff.

Review 12:The room ath were generally very clean but the tile grout needs a good scrubbing with bleach

Review 13:The owners and staff were wonderful. The property was like a private home - very charming. The breakfast and the coffee were first rate. The bed wAs comfortable. The TV received 3 major English speaking stations. The location was excellent and the neighborhood quiet. As a single traveler I felt welcome

Review 14:Did not like separate toilet much but this is very minor compared to the plusses

Review 15:Family run Hotel, very helpful suggesting restaurants etc. Good parking. Freshly cooked breakfasts

Review 16:We had the larger room, very comfortable bed ,great linens, nice modern bath . Nicely furnished room , modernized but kept the charm of the old house. Staff very sweet and breakfast excellent, including organic eggs cooked as you like, fruit, organic yogurt and wondefrful breads and patries, cheese and ham. Great location for walking to town and beach.

Review 17:Nothing bad here.

Review 18:Everything was of a very high quality - furnishings, service and breakfast. The owners were very helpful with restaurant suggestions etc.

Review 19:No tea or coffee maker in the room

Review 20:the location is excellent. Close to everything but in a quiet street. Staff were very helpfull, polite and accommodating. Beach towels provided.

Review 21:The shower really needs a shower curtain or proper screen, as you get the bathroom soaking wet (although this seems normal in France). The wifi quality was very intermittent - it kept dropping in and out, which was very annoying.

Review 22:Really lovely hotel in nice old building in a great spot on a quiet road, but close to the surfing beach and the market area. Staff very helpful and friendly. Lovely room. Car park on-site very helpful, as the street parking and public car parks were all full the whole time. All in, a fantastic experience.

Review 23:Nothing that we didn't like, the room was a little bit small but for few days is more than enough

Review 24:The staff was really kind and helpful Organic Breakfast included a good choice of food

Review 25:Very small room, so small that I could not walk in it once my suitcase was open.

Review 26:Wonderful young owners, who were very engaged ans very helpful. Also, the fact that they had a hot water boiling pot.

Review 27:The couple who own the hotel are lovely and very helpful. The hotel provided beach towels which were a bonus especially for a European hotel. The location is perfect and we would return without hesitation.

Review 28:Nice hotel with excellent location near beaches and restaurants. The staff is very helpful and the room was comfortable. Morever, Biarritz was a hit in the bulls-eye!

Review 29:Our stay was wonderful, very friendly family ran business. The location is a 5min walk away from the center of the village. I would book again anytime!

Review 30:AC was not working at all, neither did it work on the rest of the 3rd floor when talking to people in neighbouring rooms. We did get a big fan and had windows opened all the time which made it bearable since it was not extremely hot these days. Another minus was not having a fridge in the room but the hotel sells cold beverages in the lobby though for reasonable prices.

Review 31:Excellent location. Very friendly & helpful staff. Clean.

Review 32:this is a great little boutique hotel, with tastefully designed & comfortable rooms, in a great location for the beaches and restaurants. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Review 33:The hotel is run by a charming, young couple with a couple of young children who live on the premises. They were ever so helpful - nothing was a problem for them. When it came to breakfast, it has been the only hotel so far that offered cooked eggs and style except poached.

Review 34:Great breakfast buffet - personal service and nice garden Parking in connection with the hotel. Newly renovated and clean rooms - eco style bedlinnen shows attention to detail. The nice couple running the place ! Wish we had stayed longer ...

Review 35:We booked the hotel for the air conditioning, however when we got there it was still on winter settings and so only produced heat. It was the first week in June and the temperature out side ranged from 21 to 25 degrees Celsius. It was very disappointing

Review 36:The owner were on site and tried to do there best to make our stay a good one. The hotel has a lovely character and our room was charming..

Review 37:This is in an amazing location and an easy walk to the beach and to the shops. Staff were really welcoming and helpful. Room absolutely met my expectations and had a great view. Would stay here again!

Review 38:Hotel very close to market area which has great bars and restaurants and also the market itself to purchase picnic ingredients. Staff of hotel very friendly and helpful. Delicious breakfasts.

Review 39:15 Euros per night for parking seems too much. It is 19 Euros per night in a 5 star hotel in Toulouse but this includes valet parking!

Review 40:An easy walk to great restaurants and shopping. The room was nicely renovated and the bathroom, in particular, was done with modern flair. The staff were courteous and friendly. Knowing a little bit of French went a long way!

Review 41:It would have been nice to have a fridge and kettle in the room but these are probably not usual for French hotels

Review 42:Great location, lovely staff - very helpful Near town, near beach Lovely bathroom

Review 43:We loved the location, just minutes from the beach and shops. There was a very relaxed, welcoming feel to the hotel. Having parking is a huge bonus in Biarritz.

Review 44:There was no chair with a back in the bedroom.

Review 45:The charming young couple who have recently taken over the hotel are exceedingly welcoming and helpful in every way.

Review 46:Hotel Saint Julien is a excellent choice for your stay in Biarritz. Incredibly close to the ocean and activity of city center. Fantastically maintained building with very stylishly decorated rooms. And the staff is exceptionally friendly/courteous/accommodating. They gave great recommendations for restaurants/entertainment/etc. Really cannot recommend this hotel enough.

Review 47:Good location. Warm welcome. Lovely room with excellent en suite ( the walk in double shower was great). The bed was very comfy and we slept well.

Review 48:The hosts were very kind and helpfull. We stayed in a junior suite which was a large room with a chaise longue. The large bed was extremely comfortable and shower room was spacious.

Review 49:Hotel Saint Julien is a great place to stay in Biarritz. The building is lovely and the rooms are comfortable and simply but tastefully decorated with modern bathrooms. The young couple that has recently taken over the hotel is absolutely lovely and did their best to make sure we had a good experience.

Review 50:Took awhile to check out , but wasn't an issue and would stay again

Review 51:Lovely house and family run hotel helpful and welcoming staff , great rooms with the view of the mountains.

Review 52:When I got home I realised the hotel had charged us both cash on arrival and also charged us on the credit card. Only one person able to access the WiFi at a time.

Review 53:Lovely room in a lovely hotel.

Review 54:Showering w-ithout curtain wasn't half as bad as earlier reports insinuated. Pleasant hotel, attentive staff, reasonable breakfast and, important, parking on site.

Review 55:Hard to find something: maybe the lack of some type of a luggage stand when you don't want to unpack it all for merely 24h?

Review 56:Recently renovated in a beautiful old house, with super nice staff: you will feel as visiting family!

Review 57:Really friendly, family owned hotel. Excellent location, short walking distances to central Biarritz. Breakfast, small but with a nice mix. Parking on the premises.

Review 58:- Rooms a little small if you have two suitcases.

Review 59:- located a short 5 min walk up the hill from the old town - comfy rooms with a modern bathroom - excellent staff who speak English - on site car parking (extra €10 per day) which is a blessing in Biarritz.

Review 60:Lovely old converted villa which is now a chic small hotel. Fine location, nice decor, friendly helpful staff except for one sour man. A good, stylish place to stay in biarritz

Review 61:Couldn't connect to wifi and when I eventually did, it was v slow. But didn't really matter in the scheme of things

Review 62:Really helpful staff, great location, interestingly designed rooms, amaze brekkie

Review 63:The breakfast costs €12 which is too expensive in my opinion. There is a great market 2 minutes down the road where you can get a great breakfast for half that price. Only wish we discovered it on day one ! The Wi-Fi is good but only one person can access it on their device at a time.

Review 64:Great location. Pleasant staff. Clean room.

Review 65:Car park is small and difficult to use if you have a large car.

Review 66:Location & friendliness are the reasons to choose this hotel. Small family run hotel full of old world charm. Perhaps a little expensive but family have/are clearly investing heavily.

Review 67:Super cute place & great location! walking distance to everything. Staff is very friendly, helpful, and respectful. Beats staying at some chain hotel..Highly recommend this place!!! Good breakfast too

Review 68:Wonderfully located and appointed the building gas been superbly decorated and is chic without being pretentious and is an example many other hoteliers could follow. Frankly one of if not the best hotel I have stayed in. It is worth the trip by itself. Warm honeyed original wooden flooring, modern high grade wet room, great breakfast and most obliging hosts. It is a genuine 3 or 4 minute stroll to the centre and yes we will be returning and bringing our whole family!

Review 69:Wi fi could have been easier to use but this did not spoil our visit.

Review 70:Breakfast. The staff and location of the hotel. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was spotlessly clean. The owners spoke English but did so only as a last resort when our French was not up to scratch. We liked this approach.

Review 71:Great location, close to Biarritz life and beaches but quiet. Utterly charming hotel with beautiful decor and furnishings. Good sized room - light and airy, king size comfy bed, superb bathroom. Wi-fi very fast. And the hosts are lovely. Couldn't fault it!

Review 72:Lack of pool maybe, but that's not really a problem. They do breakfast but not dinner, again no problem with the huge range of great places in the area.

Review 73:Beautiful, characterful interior, brilliant service, great location.

Review 74:Nothing much, the wifi sometimes goes on you for like an hour, but that was a very minor minor thing.

Review 75:The staff were so friendly and very helpful on arrival and departure. I really liked the way the hotel is run by a family. It makes the stay feel very homely. The hotel is beautifully styled and the bedrooms were great. Lovely big windows in our room. The breakfast was excellent ( great selection of choice). I liked the way they supplied beach towels and umbrellas for guests. This is one of the best hotels I've stayed in.

Review 76:Would have been improved with a mini fridge; staff were just a little 'removed', but still friendly.

Review 77:Decor, quality fittings in the rooms, bathroom large, modern and beautifully equipped, view from the window over the courtyard lovely, location excellent - close walk to cafes, market, town centre and beaches, but far enough away to be quiet. Breakfast was good value and the setting superb. I felt very safe and comfortable here as a solo female traveller. I arrived 90 mins early but was able to book in on arrival, and leave bags there for several hours on the day of departure. I would stay there again without a doubt, and recommend to others.
