Reviews for Hôtel du Palais
Review 1:Staff over all could be more helpful and more service oriented. We had a great lunch in the main restaurant, but the service was slow and not very attentive, even though the restaurant was empty. Also not great service from the staff at the spa nor the concierge service.
Review 2:The hotel is beautiful, the spa is great. Lovely views over the ocean, very well situated. We had a very lovely meal in the main restaurant.
Review 3:Wi-Fi connection was very unstable in my room.
Review 4:Location is wonderful. Ocean view was absolutely amazing. Imperial atmosphere and chic in every detail. I've truly fallen in love with Biarritz and Hôtel du Palais and wish coming again and again.
Review 5:The cost of the hotel restaurant and refreshments. Are far too high.
Review 6:This hotel does not offer any complimentary water or hot drinks. Its a lot of money. Everything is very expensive. Be prepared to take an extra mortgage. Not value for money.
Review 7:An earlier access to the outside swimming pool or passage to the ocean would have been very welcomed.
Review 8:Superb location, magnificent setting, polite and respectful staff, and a great dinner at "la Villa Eugenie"
Review 9:Horrible service in the Michelin starred restaurant, very expensive breakfast (50 Euros each!), needed to upgrade from beach/ocean view room to actually see the ocean
Review 10:The amazing pool, the perfect location along the beach and close to the center of town, the beautiful classic style of the hotel, the fantastic spa
Review 11:Extremely expensive meals. For example, a rather small piece of salmon 70 Euros.
Review 12:Excellent location for beach goers; beautiful setting. Free ample parking.
Review 13:Limited menu at restaurants if you eat there more than one night. Bathroom could do with modernising.
Review 14:Service was always impeccable and yet personable. Food excellent and accommodation fitting for such an historical building! Long may it continue. One of my bucket list hotel and a great celebration for my husband birthday.
Review 15:You are paying for the location, surroundings and the staff which are all top quality so you expect high prices. However.... 26 euros for a cheese sandwich - at that price you expect more than white bread and processed cheese (that's what it tasted like) with a bit of salad garnish!! 50 euros for buffet breakfast! - try wandering down the promenade about 150 metres and pay 13 euros for a continental breakfast to overlook the same bit of beach The main issue was not being able to have a front line sun bed at the outdoor pool (these beds are in a great position overlooking the beach/promenade - you should try and reserve one if you can figure out how). There appears to be some Napoleonic code known to the chosen few. We were told you need to speak to the Director but he's not here. Others appear to have been told the front line beds are booked for the rest of the week Many 'reserved beds' were unoccupied for most of the day - very frustrating and left you feeling like a second class citizen. This Hotel needs to sort out a clear and transparent system accessible to all guests (what's wrong with first come - first served). I'd advice you to enquire about this at the time of booking However, none of the above would stop us returning.
Review 16:A truly spectacular and opulent interior designed for the elite of the 19th century. A perfect location on the edge of town (everything in walking distance). A multitude of highly trained, helpful and attentive staff. The Imperial Bar is a great place to sit and people watch. Gym was the best we've seen in any 5* hotel. Rooms were spacious and well laid out. Spa and indoor pool looked great. Outdoor pool was lovely. A very memorable and enjoyable stay - we'll be back.
Review 17:The Experience
Review 18:EUR 50 per person for breakfast is an absolute joke (even for a 5* hotel)
Review 19:Excellent location and great hotel
Review 20:Wi Fi was very bad
Review 21:Palace is amazing and restaurants are good
Review 22:The hotel is absolutely first class and the staff are so professional and genuinely nice throughout.
Review 23:Breakfast is outrageously expensive for a normal breakfast. And spa is quite disappointing.
Review 24:Location, view, hotel facilities
Review 25:Absolutely nothing
Review 26:Everything was fabulous. Service and food was up with the best we have had anywhere.
Review 27:- continuous Door Slam Noise due to Old Doors made me wake up - Orange Juice Out of the machine, no caviar, no Pan cakes - Breakfast for €49 Worth €20 compare to Hotel Arts in BCN - Coffee brought to room without any biscuit or little chocolate which is standard today in any good restaurant - €470 too much, rather worth €210
Review 28:+ WiFi + location at the beach + Power-Plate in the gym
Review 29:Nothing.
Review 30:I loved everything!!! The luxury of the hotel, the impeccable service that befits such a grand hotel, the wonderful restaurant with its delectable menu, fine dining ambience and great view, and the attention to details. I am a frequent traveller and have stayed in many hotels. Without a doubt, this is the best hotel in the world!
Review 31:Too crowded swimming pool space... not really comfortable for tanning more for sitting under umbrella... lunch menu kinda poor
Review 32:Nice and relaxed atmosphere... Hight standard of service... Perfect dining option in Michelin stared restaurant...
Review 33:My stay at hotel du palais , biaritz, france, was delightful frombeginning to the end. I loved it all. It is so comfortable and the staffecellent. I will go again. Toni arden
Review 34:Room service food was not as good as we expected (e.g. coffee in the morning wasn't that great, soup ordered the night before was not very as good )
Review 35:spa is amazing. Rooms very comfortable with wonderful beach views. Staff very helpful. Very clean.
Review 36:I had 2 major disappointments. The first one is the simplest detail; complimentary water. I cannot accept not being provided with gratis water from a hotel where the cheapest room is 500 euro/night. Recently hotels all around the world provide their guests with water either on the first night or for the every night of the stay. It is a small, cheap but a very thoughtful gesture. 2nd; the breakfast was an extra 35 Euro/person which again was annoying. However if it had been a very rich buffet with a vast variety of selection we wouldn't nag. For a very standard 4 cheese - 3 ham breakfast buffet the price was disturbing. I don't know if I should blame the hotel or France for their "out of this world" behaviours and customs. Me and my boyfriend travel a lot and we've seen enough hotels, this just seemed like a 60's style "luxury hotel" arrogance.
Review 37:The hotel itself was a beautiful piece of history and the attention to detail in preserving its old grace while maintaining modern comfort was excellent. The staff were attentive without being pushy. The meals were superb.
Review 38:Extremely warm, kind, helpful and professional
Review 39:A dirty mark on the carpet of our room. Bath room could be reformed
