Reviews for Pontins - Prestatyn Sands Holiday Park

Review 1:No food facilities apart from the fried chicken and shop, no where to get a proper meal, our ceiling started leaking! Also all guests took there own drinks and food into the fun factory no one was at the bar and tables were reserved from 9am!

Review 2:Entertainment , right on the beach

Review 3:There's not much I don't like apart from the beds in the chalets! They need replacing also the bed settee in the lounge! It is not comfortable to sit on or sleep on. There is only 1 plug socket in the kitchen that you can use which makes it difficult if your cooking and won't to use the toaster, microwave or the kettle at the same time. The shower is ok but you have to keep pressing a button to keep the water running. The only issue I have had is lack of information before booking and not being told if captain croc and the crew entertainment is not on the entertainment programme for the weekend I booked. Make sure you ask before you book if there is a Gala on which was Adult darts and Adult pool competitions which took over the whole of pontins and left my children with just 1 hour of captain croc's beach party for the 2 nights I stayed. My children was bored at night time. We couldn't even use the Lunars Bar as that room was being used for giving out trophy. The fun factory had rows of dart boards taking up that room. What makes it worse is I only booked to go as a last minute treat for my son's 5th birthday as he loves the Croc crew and he wonted to see them and watch the croc's entertainment that's usually on every evening. When i complained to the reception at pontins they didn't won't to know as I had booked this through booking.com. I was told to speak to booking.com as pontins stated because I booked through booking.com they was responsible for my complaint.which wasn't resolved. My 5 year old son was left really upset and bored which ruined his birthday.

Review 4:I like pontins for my younger children as it has different activities for them to do from, playing mini golf, to go karts, trampolines which you need to purchase tokens for. Swimming and crocs adventure land what is like a mini play centre. My children love watching the croc's crew shows and dancing with the blue coats. I like the different adult shows that is on also.

Review 5:The accommodation was very poor quality. Wasnt much to do with little one apart from play area as swimming was closed most of time and out door he was too young for.

Review 6:Staff was fab, play area was great, bar was ok priced. Price on booking.com was fantastic.

Review 7:should notifier you when booking that they have party over 350 cheer leaders in that weekend as very nosy late at night till 3am so keep us awake and not any room there

Review 8:Things for kids and food ok

Review 9:room smelt funny, oven didn't work properly, fridge had mould inside (I had to bleach the fridge before I put any thing inside) £5 electric lasted 4 hours!l and there was £1 debt already on the meter! no sound proofing at all, children were outside at midnight making a racket! Not in a hurry to go back in fact we paid for 2 nights and left after 1.

Review 10:Hard to describe something I liked. It was ok for what we needed

Review 11:Postcode took us to a gated entrance which we couldn't enter - floors were dirty and sofa bed had mold on - very uncomfortable to sleep on. I had to use wipes to clean floors - not great for young babies.

Review 12:Not being told at time of booking that everything would be closed. Even the pub closed at 9 pm leaving no option but to sit in the chalet with poor lighting not enough to read by.

Review 13:on the last night of my break i got back to my accommodation to find an entire family in bed in my room!! i had to change rooms in the early hours , NOT GOOD AT ALL!

Review 14:the entertainment was very good , the staff were very pleasant and helpful

Review 15:Trying to find room. No bedding had to go back to reception. No electric on arrival at night could not see what we was doing. electric went off before leaving room for 10am

Review 16:Was not on the site only for sleeping.

Review 17:no staff on hand on arrival and no one around on duty main room smelly dirty carpets and chairs full of stains and sticky public toilets smelly nappy bins over flowing not cleaned enough no choice of food for under 5 supermarket too expensive very little entertantment for under 5

Review 18:the chalet was good and plenty of room and good facilities childrens outside play areas ok

Review 19:didn't like the fact that you had to buy bedding sheets separate would advise people to bring their own

Review 20:the all you can eat breakfast was good and the activities and things to do was excellent

Review 21:no water in bathroom . electric dosnt last a night. parking is terrible . people letting off fireworks. not enough pillows. not enough seating in ball room.

Review 22:very well laid out site. all staff are happy to help. entertainment is outstanding.

Review 23:We really enjoyed our break away although it was only for a couple of nights the entertainment was top notch even though it was out of season the staff were helpful & friendly all facilities were available will certainly be going again

Review 24:Cleanliness was not good chalet floor was dirty and cooker was just rusty and made a right mess.

Review 25:Location was near to beach and town. Plenty of entertainment.

Review 26:Canteen very dangerous how it's set out. No trays to carry plates on I had to balance two plates to let my own food and my children's and it was dropped twice on the floor. Cups were very flimsy so drinks were splashing out when I carried them. Floors were wet and slippy. I nearly got scolded by the got water machine due to a man who couldn't wait to get a drink the machines were too close together and by the queue for the food.

Review 27:Swimming pool, outdoor facilties for children.

Review 28:I was not happy about being woken up al 5.30 am by morris dancers practising. I think if you have a competition like this on that they should all be placed in the same part of the resort as it is unfair to other paying customers to be woken up at that time of the morning.

Review 29:My children enjoyed the activities available

Review 30:Pool was dirty

Review 31:Room was basic but value for money. The reviews ive read put me off but found it to be above my expectations. Staff superb and breakfast.

Review 32:Everything, room was like a prison and filthy, staff all rude, place like a giant council estate, food disgusting, suitable for those on remand only

Review 33:Checking out There is nothing good at all about this place. The room and communal areas are terrible.

Review 34:The cleanliness of the chalet we occupied left a lot to be desired,if I had to give a score out of 10 it would have to be 2.

Review 35:The evening entertainment especially for our 5 year old grandson was very good, kept him focused on enjoying every minute of his time there.

Review 36:The pull out sofa bed was the most uncomfortable nights sleep my husband and i have ever had. we are both still in pain with bad backs.the blocks of chalets were very dated but i felt an effort had been made to modernise them inside.

Review 37:I couldnt fault friendliness of staff and helpfulness. thought the main facilities were very good, clean, new looking well maintained. Breakfast was excellent quality and plenty provided.

Review 38:Major problem is the very, very, very uncomfortable sofa bed! Even with a matress topper we brought it'a nearly impossible to sleep on. It's my only real negative experience.

Review 39:Great location for a little break fun atmosphere.

Review 40:Beds a little uncomfortable, but we didn't expect five star luxury.

Review 41:Staff very friendly and helpful, we went half board and the food was excellent and plentiful. Prestatyn a lovely little town, children loved pontins and can't wait to return, excellent value for money.

Review 42:Little things really. Like the arcade machines are ticket based so the kids are excited to get loads of them. But the shop to exchange tickets for prizes shuts at odd times. We ended up going home with 3 upset kids because it was closed. I would definatley recommend taking your own food because the food that's available is vile.

Review 43:For the kids, it's excellent. Loads to do, lots going on. Indoor pool is heated. Play areas nice and clean. Rooms are good size, ideal for self catering.

Review 44:The sofa bed was not comfortable for a pregnant woman to sleep on n it's was a single sofa bed not gd for two adults

Review 45:The children enjoyed there stay had lots to do

Review 46:It is clearly dated but we went fully expecting what we got. It could do with modernising but there is loads for kids to do. Appreciate if would've spent more I would've expected more but I was pleasently surprised and it was good value for money.

Review 47:We only stayed one night but there is pretty much everything you would need for a family holiday on-site, although would maybe go a bit stir-crazy if spent a full week on-site! The beach is about 2 minutes walk, Prestatyn town about 10 minutes walk, I love North Wales and it is an excellent position from which to explore Welsh Wales.

Review 48:The staff should inform us if we have to provide any thing for our slelves

Review 49:I loved the entertainment at night and loved the activities that's was provide at the place

Review 50:beds very hard, sofa bed difficult to pull out and hard, had to sleep in sofa mode so not a very good nights sleep, but executable for 1 night.

Review 51:room size

Review 52:The bed was a hard but you can't exspect a luxary bed for the price you pay

Review 53:The entertainment was brilliant for the kids. and lots of activities for the famly and good facilities for all ages

Review 54:The room hadn't been sorted out and the cleanliness was extremely poor. Very disappointed. Even at £40 for one night, I felt over charged!!

Review 55:The staff were helpful, especially in the chip shop.

Review 56:The noise when we went to bed was a joke parties was like club 18-30s we called security at 2.50 so we got to sleep at 3.30 was up at 6 with baby lets just say we won't be returning

Review 57:Good kids facilities, entertainment and the breakfast

Review 58:Chalet not good, after getting in at midnight went to make sofa bed & it collapsed, not happy, always have a bad experience over something everytime we go.

Review 59:Good entertainment at night, characters good for the kids,

Review 60:Entertainment more set for younger (6-12) years. Even the bingo was levelled at younger elements of your customers. Double bed/settee not suitable for disabled customers, ie too low for me to get up from.

Review 61:Plenty of room in the chalet. Good quality bedding.

Review 62:Old looking the carpet in the main hall was filthy

Review 63:The place looks old it needs updating badly it did what we needed for two nights but we didn't stay on site for anything other than to sleep. Nice staff though

Review 64:accomadation wasn't very clean. Requested someone to clean my floor but no one turned up. Had to make sure my children had shoes on at all times.

Review 65:Entaintainment was very good.

Review 66:Very noisy until 1am on a Friday and Saturday night when in the room from other drunk guests in there rooms. Banging and crashing from other rooms. Room very dated, not clean under the sofa bed, sofa bed uncomfortable and broken, Windows filthy, bed liner very poor and have to make the beds yourself, beer cans all over the floor outside room in the morning from other guests. Main hall smelt of sick on Sunday morning,

Review 67:Free for all in dirty restaraunts .... Chalets past their sell by dates ... not much improved since I took my kids there 30 years ago. Still using unacceptable sofa beds and leccy on meters

Review 68:Entertainment is fab

Review 69:Booked a second night after already been there and was charged a ridiculous amount when the camp was completely empty ..complete robbery ..no pans in the chalet two cups for a family and five and no security control on site kids still screaming outside our apartment at 2am disgraceful when you have small kids trying to sleep

Review 70:Location was good and entertainment very good

Review 71:If this Break was free it would have been to much money. The accommodation was poor, uncomfortable, Beds, you might as well sleep on a bed of nails, saw people taking there own blow up beds and sleeping bags in, think they must have been before, beds were old probably as old as the buildings which was built fifty or so years ago. Chalets were so unclean and unhygienic Have asked for management feed back, still waiting........

Review 72:Children's entertainment was good.

Review 73:where ever I walked in the main building or our chalet my shoes stuck to every surface. toilets are discusting, only use toilet in your accommodation !

Review 74:reception staff were very helpful and friendly.

Review 75:the chalets are filthy, the beds are uncomfortable and you have to bring your own sheets pillow cases and towels. not at all impressed. grimm is an understatement !!!!!

Review 76:the bar was ok with resonable prices.

Review 77:sofa bed was a little uncomfortable but other than that a good trip.

Review 78:clean tidy brilliant for kids good value for money plenty of things to do. don't listen to other reviews we had electric and bedding.had to take our own towels but so what. people who give bad reviews shouldn't expect 5 star luxury for 1 star prices.

Review 79:First time at pontins but sorry to say the last time the room was awfull not at all what I was expecting. Sorry to say but the people (guests) were loud and full of alcohol not a place for families in my opinion. I even noticed people walking round at 9am drinking cans of alcohol not what I want my young son to see.

Review 80:the entertainment in the evening was the only good thing.

Review 81:The chalet was filthy, urine in the bath filthy curtains and windows, work tops stained the whole park very dated very rowdy lots of drunks and under aged drinking. Booking.com should take this Park off their website it's a disgrace.

Review 82:Checking out one hour after we arrived

Review 83:I travelled with my girlfriend I am 30 and my girlfriend is 22 I thought it would be for familys with children as it was a surprise for my girlfriend , can I just say it was fantastic the pub entertainment and the staff we will be coming back for a whole week very soon

Review 84:Room was very dirty ,sofa bed very uncomfortable bedding didn't even use was like paper ,parking was terrible

Review 85:Location and enough for the children to do

Review 86:Seeing people drunk

Review 87:Watching my little girls dancing in her troop Enjoyed pontins kids enjoyed there time at pontins playing dancing and the games plus the facilities at pontins

Review 88:Meals were basic not much to choose from but great for the kids as they catered for the younger one to plenty of fruit and veg Well worth going half board as cuts down the cost of eating whilst there

Review 89:Fabulous for our 2 young children they loved every minute look forward to going again soon

Review 90:Firstly, the picture is NOT the room you get. What you get is a basic 1960's type room that is worse than a 25 quid a night bed and breakfast. Everything is so dated, food is overpriced as is alcohol as the on site shop. Staff are ok with the exception of a couple notablty Veronica in the chip shop - very rude. Rhyl is dead and hardly anything to do locally. Avoid like the plague!

Review 91:It wasn't too far from home.....

Review 92:It took 5 trips on a 1 way system to find our room as signs were non existent, was on our last try before giving up and leaving, wish I had left now. Guests including children ran amoke until 5am next morning with nobody to tell them off,70+ drunk adults and marauding teenagers who thought it was daytime.

Review 93:The only good thing about our trip was the scenery.

Review 94:Large groups of people .Late night parties {3.30pm} Not good

Review 95:My child's 6th birthday. Staff did him proud . Made him feel special .Thank you so much.

Review 96:Chalet was very dirty, beds need changing very uncomfortable, water pouring in the kitchen onto plugs and microwave I did report this and they said it was the guttering, if they knew shouldn't it be fixed before guest go into the chalet. Glad my grandchildren did not touch the plugs.

Review 97:Swimming pool good, crazy golf good, park and exercising machine good. Saturday evening entertainment good. Food good.

Review 98:The children were allowed to stay in the club house far to late this made it imposible to safely dance on the dance floor.

Review 99:All the staff were very helpful and we'll informed with helpful information for the first time stayers.

Review 100:Broken bed, broken bathroom, dirty pots and pans and cutlery, mattress was good for nothing, blood stained quilts provided and blood stained covers, TV didn't work, heaters were leathal with two kids having no covers to protect them from the heat!!. Rubbish nights sleep due to the massive brawls that were happening every night outside..... Literally like fight club. Hell hole is the best description for this place.

Review 101:Leaving....

Review 102:Customer service was terrible and the whole place needed to be cleaned properly

Review 103:Children's activities and facilities were varied and were in good condition. Location excellent, beautiful views

Review 104:not all food available as described on evening menu, e.g. salad. bowls were depleted. Also selection of sweets not available and custard did not taste like custard. Sofa not comfortable.

Review 105:price for accommodation was good - and it was clean and had everything we needed.

Review 106:We had a couple of teething problems with our room but they sorted it very quickly.

Review 107:Entertainment, location and they placed us next door to each other.also gave me a ground floor for my son with special needs.

Review 108:The floor of the apartment was dirty and sticky on arrival had not been cleaned at all, but no mop or bucket provided.

Review 109:The kids play areas indoor and outdoor absolutely great

Review 110:It was a cheap weekend break costing £120 for three nights stay. Ibelieve more comfort would have been had staying in a B&B forsimilar is not much extra cost. The accommodation (we had a classicchalet) was very basic. The windows did not close properly. There was a1/2" gap under the front door. The bedroom door did not close.Items I would consider basics such as a "bath mat" were notsupplied. There was no net curtain or screening from the walkway outsideany of the chalets (including the "posher" chalets) whichmeant keeping your curtains closed at all times to avoid people peeringin. I requested a late checkout - 10am is ridiculous through Booking.Comand this was confirmed in a e-mail as a special request. However, onchecking with reception, the surly member of staff we spoke to said thiswas not policy and so we had to be out by 10am. The"nightclub" was closed all weekend due to an event - thiscould have been notified about at the time of booking. There was afamily bar called "The Fun Factory" but this was gearedtowards families with young children and the entertainment was a choiceof Bingo or a reject X-Factor act followed by a dismal disco whichdidn't get anyone up and dancing due to the poor choice of musicplayed. There is a "pub" affair on the site called "TheQueens Head" but it closed at 11pm and featured Karaoke both Fridayand Saturday night. It was closed on the Sunday evening. There was nolaundry facilities on the site, which I found odd, so if you had visitedthe beach or needed to launder clothing you had to handwash what youcould and leave it to drip dry over the back of chairs outside yourchalet due to no drying facilities. The supplied duvet and pillows smeltvery musty and we did not feel comfortable using them. Luckily, we hadtaken our own sleeping bags and pillows.

Review 111:The camp is in walking distance of a beautiful beach and the towncentre, which is bigger than expected with a few major stores on the newretail park, great pubs and lots of nice cafes and establishments to eatin. Prestatyn is also a good place to travel to other seaside towns fromsuch as the beautiful Llandudno and Colwyn Bay.

Review 112:That I couldn't check in until 4pm. The waiting around for check in seemed to take forever.

Review 113:That the room size was fantastic for the price I paid. Very happy.

Review 114:The door couldn't be lock so I waited till 1:30am to sort that out. No bed sheets or towels when I arrived, I had to ask so to go back to the reception, walking and it was raining. I went twice because of the door.. Hard to find when you walk from the station also. Really noisy. I stayed one night instead of two.

Review 115:The staff was nice

Review 116:Unfortunately the beds were awful especially the 'sofa bed' in the living room. I would probably not choose to stay here again solely due to our experience on the final night of our stay which consisted of drunken people playing loud music, banging and shouting next door which made me worry about the safety of our children and needless to say did not make for a good nights sleep. It really is a shame because we had a lovely time at pontins during daylight hours!

Review 117:The staff were extremely helpful and the facilities were great for young children. The beach was only a few minutes walk away and was lovely and safe for the children to have a paddle.

Review 118:It was an eye opener. Not stayed in a complex before so having to make our own bed was a bit of a surprise.

Review 119:The location was excellent as near to where my relatives lived and very close to Prestatyn Golf Club

Review 120:the place over all was a bit grubby but in relation to the amount of people and accident prone children that pass through you can understand why. the limited staff that they had cleaning the place seemed to be trying very hard and we did go just after the very busy period of the school hols.

Review 121:the location, staff, entertainment and facilities were excellent.

Review 122:First room already had someone in returned to reception and was told oh sorry that happens sometimes.swimmingpool was closed which was one of the few free activities on offer. Dinner was overcooked and served canteen style akin to school dinners. Even entertainment from blue coats put the place down. Second room still had large bag of rubbish left by cleaners. Linen was handed to you by reception to put on by yourself so I could see state of old tatty pillows and statined matress. Would never go back or recommend. Other activities all came with a price tag.

Review 123:Effort made by blue coats to make a bad location into something to remember.

Review 124:Apart from a reasonably comfortable bed and two of the staff members, there was nothing else that we liked. It was our first experience of this type of accommodation. When we checked in we were not given full information in the pack so did not kbow how things worked. We went back to reception and asked. The apartment had not been properly cleaned. There is no dish liquid, cloth or tea towel supplied in these apartments. The cooker was filthy, the soap dish was filthy and areas of the table were filthy. My wife was bitten during the night and we wondered about fleas or bed bugs. The whole experience was pretty revolting. When we first complained the young woman we spoke with told us that the manager was not available as he was 'busy doing an eviction' (we thought she should have kept this information to herself and wondered about staff training) and we would have to wait if we wished to speak with him. While we were waiting, we heard two other complaints to the reception staff. One related to sub standard cleaning and the other was a young well spoken Chinese family who had not been told or given information regarding how to manage the electricity and had inadvertently used their allocation. They were not offered an apology nor were they offered a complimentary replacement voucher. All in all, a pretty dismal experience.

Review 125:We thought that two of the staff were very concerned and very professional; Megan and duty manager Mark. We complained and showed them photos of our dirty apartment. Mark took our concerns very seriously and offered us a complimentary breakfast. He also suggested that if we returned that we may like a villa. He was very good, so compliments to him.

Review 126:Parking was overcrowded. Shame the Queen Vic was closed on the Saturday night - no access to Chinese/indian food.

Review 127:Good value for money, clean chalet.

Review 128:Cheap and cheerful, can't complain, only went for 1 night costing £44 with the wife and 3 kids, I was bored to death but kids said it was alright, would have shot myself if I stayed any longer, chalets feel like you are in a movie.... The movie being set in South Central, had a "menace 2 society" feel to it, grown men with tracking and crates of beer, stiggy ppl smoking on the door steps, rock and roll bed is leatherette so take a sheet unless you want to wake up glued to it.

Review 129:Cheap

Review 130:Attended an event in Wales which ran over, was due to go home but had tostay another night unfortunately everything in a 30 mile radius wasfully booked so made this booking on booking.com for a hotel - it cameup with this, thought it was a budget hotel rather than an apartment.Needing a last minute stay I had no choice but to come here. I had nobedding or towels with me so had make a dash to the shop to buy some asthe apartment didn't have them. The fish & chip shop on site wasclosed at 8pm on Sat night! The on site shop was half empty. The tv wasawful with lots of interference, chest of drawers broken and roomgenerally not that clean. Furniture could do with looking at. Walls werepaper thin and I had the delights of listening to a screaming toddlermost of the evening.

Review 131:The room was sizeable and would have been good with a young family.

Review 132:Sofa bed in chalet was so hard and uncomfortable. You could feel the wood from underneath the leather digging into your back.....also only one pillow each.had to go tesco and buy extra pillows

Review 133:Entertainment was brilliant. Skate park for the boys was good and Alex the lad who worked there was amazing with the kids

Review 134:The reception lady was not giving full information. Electricity turned off at 1.00 am in the night. Had to go out of bed to get the prepaid card at 1:00 am in the night. NO ONE informed us that the electricity has to be purchased. They had only £5.00 prepaid cards and had not kept the £1.00 cards. So forcing customers to spend more. There were no covers for the bed, pillow and the duvet. the duvet and pillow was stinking dirty. No shower in the bathroom!!! I have travelled to many places and stayed at many places all around the UK. Though the place looks excellent it has left a bad taste in the mouth due to the staff. I would never ever recommend this place.

Review 135:The location near the beach is good.

Review 136:It does look like prison camp first impression but you realise set out to give all apartments grassy area for children and adults to enjoy

Review 137:Family orientated Loved crazy golf Children's play area fun

Review 138:I was pleased to find that the bedding and leisure passes were included in my room price. My daughter enjoyed the evening entertainment and arcades. It was located close to the beach. I also made a mistake with the date on my booking, but I spoke to Booking.Com the staff member was really helpful and corrected the issue, which saved the day for me and my daughter. Thank you so much.

Review 139:The sofa bed very uncomfortable, but on our next visit we will bring matress toppers not too big an issue.

Review 140:Great for the kids, good food pleasant chalet. seen a few negative reviews before booking but decided to take the chance anyway. Before arriving we had low expectations so when he had a good clean room we were very happy.

Review 141:not having bedding supplied and not being issued with details on how breakfast is dealt with, seems like wish you to pay again at time of eating very unclear and can imagine many people would pay and not question it

Review 142:cost for a overnight stay with breakfast

Review 143:When I we got into the chalet floor looked like it hadn't been sweptso I had to do this before I did anything......Beds need updated ie newmattresses need to be purchased didn't have a decent night sleepwhile I was there, curtains in the back bedroom were falling off therails and kept falling off when put back, when taking a shower it waslike being at the swimming baths as the shower couldn't stay on asit was on a timer button so kept going off.....

Review 144:Cheap value for money accommodation for a last minuet booking for myselfand my teenage son only booked a 1 bed chalet and ended up having a 2bed which was nice so no one slept in the living area.....staff werevery helpful and even let us on the snooker tables without having topurchase any tokens.....entertainment was fantastic on the Friday nightit was Stavros Flatley which my Autistic son really enjoyed.....veryclose to the beach around a five min walk if that but please beware wefound some quick sand !!!
