Reviews for Best Western Atlantic Hotel
Review 1:DIRTY, used carpet in corridors, rude staff, told we could upgrade to better room, moved our stuff in then told its been double booked ! Total disaster , especially for a new years eve overnight stay.....
Review 2:The bar area was ok... and the 2 cleaning staff who worked there socks off cleaning.
Review 3:hotel being decorated I was put next door to a room being painted and opposite another room being painted, therefore I inhaled paint fumes all night. The room was cold, I could hear traffic noise from outside, there was a hole in the net curtain, the television reception was appalling. the communal carpets were filthy. I will not be coming back
Review 4:Room was not properly cleaned, with toothpaste marks in the bathroom, a hair clip on the floor in the bedroom and hair on the desk (I am completely bald, so was definitely not mine) also some marks on the quilt cover. Booking.com mentioned the access to a fitness centre but Best Western's own website made no mention to the affiliation with a fitness centre.
Review 5:Very tasty breakfast
Review 6:Reception staff unfriendly, a smile would have gone a long way. We to blame for going six minutes over our checkout time, but did we really need the ...get out of the room phone call ? stayed at many hotels in my time and have never experienced this before.
Review 7:Room spotless and a very comfy bed ?
Review 8:Hotel lobby freezing cold Had to be moved to another room as air conditioning unit not working Again freezing room Heater unit noisy and not fit for purpose Toilets next to bar area and restaurant
Review 9:Large room
Review 10:There was a bulb blown in our room, so we were really lacking a lot of light! Also there was a fire alarm that sounded in our room very early. Only once but it did wake me up startled!
Review 11:The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly.
Review 12:The bed was not comfortable enough. The double glazing must be poor as can hear traffic all night . I had time to relax after breakfast to try make up for lost sleep before meeting but the fire alarm went off three times , when I mentioned it to the receptionist she just shrugged and said at least we know it works !!! I appreciate they need to test equipment but a warning would have been appreciated
Review 13:The restaurant and staff in there v sweet and helpful the food is good not brilliant but good enough
Review 14:The only comment we had to make was that the toilet was not operating correctly, this was reported to the reception on leaving.
Review 15:We only used the room and bar, and can only say that all the staff we encountered were well presented and polite
Review 16:The service in the restaurant was terrible:- No one bothered to show us to a table - just pointed and said "over there" - we waited 20 mins for an order to be taken then 40mins for the starter to arrive - absolutely infuriating, especially as there weren't many people dining.
Review 17:The food was poor. The bacon at breakfast tasted as though it had been boiled rather than grilled or fried. I was woken a couple of times in the night by noisy students (I assume) walking back from town. Obviously this is beyond the hotel's control, but it is not a good feature of its location.
Review 18:The restaurant staff, both at dinner and at breakfast, were very welcoming and attentive.
Review 19:Neither of the bedside lamps worked but on the up side one of the staff members made several trips with various bulbs until the problem was resolved. Don't seem to have enough staff on at breakfast but we managed to sort ourselves out. Just also be aware there is no lift if you struggle with stairs.
Review 20:Bed was comfortable and the place was clean. Handy location for where we were going. Despite other peope's comments to the contrary we found the staff to be very helpful.
Review 21:It was Friday night and so noisy outside with people shouting. The hotel is very close to the road and the traffic is noisy. The worst thing was the rooms are not sound-proofed at all, my neighbours had their tv on late at night and I could hear everything. I asked to move but the other two available rooms were just as bad. None of my colleagues got any sleep either.
Review 22:The staff are very friendly and it was quite clean. I was able to leave my car in the car park the following day after checking out which was really helpful.
Review 23:Lovely clean and modern Hotel. Situated a stones throw from the city centre. The staff were very accommodating and pleasant. Would highly recommend it .
Review 24:Not crazy about the area. Wouldn't have liked to walk back from city centre on my own at night.
Review 25:Liked free car park & wifi. Also staff very pleasant and helpful.
Review 26:Always a bit noisy, especially from the university next door, partying almost every evening throughout the week. But with ear plugs, things are OK again .-)
Review 27:Friendly staff, good location for business in Essex
Review 28:The smell of cigarettes in the corridor and the noise from other guests on the same corridor and outside - and the fact there was no lift having a baby and luggage made it difficult
Review 29:It was a lovely room, clean and comfortable
Review 30:At 3 o'clock in the morning we got woken up by a group of drunken men banging on our door trying to break in shouting room service! They then went to their room which was next to ours by the sounds of it and started shouting and arguing with each other throwing heavy things around the room and banging the walls this carried on for over an hour!! They was then at it again at 7 in the morning!
Review 31:Beautiful hotel and lovely staff
Review 32:Nothing comes to mind.
Review 33:Staff were welcoming and helpful, room had all the necessary facilities. We did not use other facilities due to our attending an event at The Ivy Hill, Margaretting.
Review 34:There was nothing we didn't like but I wouldn't want the ground floor bedroom near the entrance - the poor occupants had to put a notice in their window saying please be quiet.
Review 35:I thought the bed was really comfy - had a lovely duvet which allowed your body to breathe. I have stayed at many hotels where the duvet feels ok, but you just sweat in it.
Review 36:Room was spacious, modern and clean. Very much liked the artwork around the hotel, made it feel different to the generic hotels previously stayed in.
Review 37:Only problem i had was some boys running up and down the hall making noise in the early hours
Review 38:The Room was Wonderful and spacious with trendy wall art and good facilities
Review 39:The outside doesn't look as comforting as inside, we thought it was an old peoples home, we didn't know where the reception was only from where people was heading. But the inside was very posh, staff was lovely food was delicious and the hotel room was comfortable and clean it was perfect.
Review 40:the inside was lovely and posh, staff was lovely and the food was delicious
Review 41:Poor lighting in room. Bathroom small and requires a refurbishment. Not up to "executive" standard we paid for.
Review 42:Excellent location close to station and town centre. Ample free car parking.
Review 43:The only complaint was the lack of sleep. Due to single sex groups milling around the hotel and generally making noise from 03.00 to 06.00 due to room changing etc during these hours. We probably won't be staying at the hotel again, if you want to have a great sleep, find another hotel or b & b.
Review 44:Stayed at this hotel last year and enjoyed everything. This was night of my daughter's wedding.
Review 45:If I book a double room I expect a double bed not 2 single beds pushed together.
Review 46:The breakfast food was very nice and the area was well presented and managed.
Review 47:1. Breach of your rights of privacy - they will just throw your possessions out of the room while you are away, despite holding a deposit. 2. Smell of the dead mouse in corridor. 3. Dust in a corners. 4. Lying, rude staff. 5. Price for such a service and quality - never coming back to this hotel.
Review 48:the breakfasts prepared by Flora.....really first class. Also, in the opinion of a Scotswoman, Floras porridge is excellent! The team of girls cleaning the bedrooms worked very well and the rooms were always spotless. The present receptionists better than in previous years.
Review 49:Bathroom had no natural light/ventilation. Room seemed a bit "musty" and window couldn't be left partly open for night ventilation. Slightly "run down" area
Review 50:Friendly staff, good size room, free parking
Review 51:Room 109 was adjacent room to 110. I returned to the room with a friend and we were talking with normal voice about the following day's plan. We heard the voice from 110 and minute later when the friend was leaving for his room, the night receptionist came to the door and said, "you guys need to keep it down, the neighbour is complaining!" As if we were having a party or something. The friend stayed for five minutes tops! The ventilation in the bathroom was not working, entire room was wet with steam from quick shower. The carpet and bed were damp. Never had such experience elsewhere!
Review 52:The two day-time receptionists were friendly and helpful.
Review 53:Noise from adjacent room and hall was high. Also could hear passing traffic on the road
Review 54:Reasonable standard rooms with a free car park. Friendly staff Good restaurant
Review 55:There was no menu on the breakfast table and the waitress did not offer up any advice about what was available. Staff need to be more proactive in alerting guests to what is available or have printed menus
Review 56:I read in my room that smoked salmon and egg was available at a supplement. When in the dining room I observed the portion size which was too much for me so ordered half size which was perfect and very tasty. I was not charged which was also a plus as if I had been after only having a bowl of cereal I would have been very angry as it would have been an expensive breakfast.
Review 57:Bathroom fixings were very poor quality and in bad repair. Shower screen seal was mouldy and needed cleaning (a common problem in UK)
Review 58:Location (centre of town). Secure parking. Bright and spacious. Reasonably priced
Review 59:We had previously contacted to ask about early book in or an opportunity to change somewhere as we we're going to a wedding. The booking manager said he could accommodate this. However the best we could be given was a smelly disabled toilet. An unready room for ten minutes would of been more helpful.
Review 60:The room was nice and clean, well set out. The breakfast was lovely and filled me up for the day.
Review 61:Lovely friendly and helpful staff. We had a lovely meal in the Italian in house restaurant, superb food and service, we would certainly recommend both to friends and family.
Review 62:The hotel was bare and uninspiring. Room was dark, especially the bathroom where the lighting wasn't sufficient.
Review 63:The hotel was practical for our purpose and the staff dealt adequately with our requests.
Review 64:Noisy guests arriving back at 3am. Not the hotel's fault, just people with no thought for fellow guests staying there.
Review 65:Friendly staff, comfy bed, excellent shower. Hotel is well located, just on edge of city centre.
Review 66:The rooms were noisy- I could hear the person next door in the bathroom; and the floor coverings in the corridors and bedrooms were old and shabby.
Review 67:The reception staff were friendly and efficient
Review 68:Only downside of what is a good 3 star hotel is that the rooms can be a bit cold. They have a air con unit / heater but it's not very effective and it's noisy. Also the beds are quite hard. Okay for one night but might prove an issue for multiple.
Review 69:Hotel is a good location just outside of the city centre. I've stayed there a number of times when I've been on a night out with friends. I've never had a problem with the cleanliness of the rooms and the facilities (kettle, tv)have always been good.
Review 70:Room a little tired, TV needed to be fiddled with to enable to work, cleanliness mediocre , chips and room could have done with redecorating,, bath rusty. For £90 a night premier inn up the road, hugely better value.
Review 71:Breakfast Excellent
Review 72:The cooked breakfast was truly disgusting. Everything tasted of old fat. The scrambled egg made me heave. It too tasted of old fat and yet was runny and uncooked in parts. Truly the worst meal I have ever tried to eat. Three of us could not eat more than a few mouthfuls each. I felt sick all day
Review 73:Couldn't get any picture on the telly was just sound. The bed was two singles pushed together BUT was still very comfortable
Review 74:Staff were excellent!
Review 75:Not really a bad experience but would have been nice if there was a bar open throughout the day but that's all
Review 76:It doesn't look much outside but inside looks clean and modern, staff were very cheerful and helpful
Review 77:Breakfast : - Coffee was cold, toast was only done on one side, (never seen that before)we asked for mustard and ketchup (which was not offered) and got brown and red ketchup, the music was horrible, just a man shouting in a foreign language, we shall not return.
Review 78:The bed, we were given the room at 13:00 and the guy at reception was good.
Review 79:Finding our way in! Satnav directed us to road opposite but there were no signs saying Atlantic car park THIS WAY. Had to phone relative to get directions.
Review 80:Simple layout, clean comfortable room, good heater, helpful friendly staff.
Review 81:There was no cutlery on the table at breakfast until we asked for it. It was a longer walk into town then we had originally thought.
Review 82:Big room, comfortable bed, great on-suite, large TV, and tea & coffee. The facilities were clean, and the in-room adjustable electric heater kept it exceptionally warm there was no noise. There is not one thing I could complain of here.
Review 83:Access and entrance almost invisible from road. Tired building. My room smelt of stale cigarette smoke and the bathroom was basic with mouldy grouting and broken fittings.
Review 84:Convenient for University Campus Helpful receptionist
Review 85:Corridors a bit shabby Shower too weak and only just hot enough
Review 86:Good size room Comfortable bed Free wifi in room Free central town parking Tasty breakfast with good choice Breakfast room was pleasant, clean and contemporary
Review 87:The receptionist was most unhelful almost to point of being discourteous and argumentative. Room was not cleaned dailly. No water supplied until we insisted.
Review 88:Restaurant and bar overpriced and poor value. Ground floor room next to busy street was noisy, cold and damp. Bathroom was cold damp mouldy and dirty, with no heating. Bath plug didnt work water running out constantly. Mirror steamed up and poor lighting prevented shaving and make up.
Review 89:Location and car park. Comfortable bed.
Review 90:The noisy party of teenagers who had booked the rooms opposite for a night out in Chelmsford (mind you, we were all young once...)
Review 91:The location, the room, facilities, staff, comfness of the bed
Review 92:Could do with bath/shower grab rails in bathroom as baths quite high to step int.
Review 93:Staff were very helpful, polite, understanding and considerate. Parking facilities very good.
Review 94:The hotel is not very well signposted, especially if there is queuing traffic - can't see where the turn is... Also once at the car park, the barrier would benefit from a sign that states "drive up to barrier for access". Logic made myself & another guest drive past to avoid creating an obstruction, believing there was no access at that point. There was no wi-fi available that weekend.... Not the end of the world, but inconvenient.
Review 95:The rooms were excellent & beds large & comfortable.
Review 96:nothing
Review 97:A nice break and the cleaness was excellent, and the bed was comfortable.and although we couldnt have a walk in shower,we opted for single beds,we had a laugh getting into the bath to have a shower, and at 84 it was a bit dufficult,as you can imagine, but we did with the help of each other ///
Review 98:The receptionist Ashley was very surly and refused to serve us a drink in the bar after our long journey, even though facilities claim this was available to residents
Review 99:The saving grace was the restaurant and good service
Review 100:Noise - noise carries a lot in this hotel, and slamming doors in the middle of a saturday night were not ideal for a restful night sleep
Review 101:Staff were friendly and helpful. Ashley, in particular was an asset to the hotel. Gym facilities were good and the room was clean and comfortable
Review 102:Sandwich shop across the road putting uncooked tomatoes in my bacon and tomato roll. Madness.
Review 103:Check inn was hassle free room clean bed comfy and close to where we needed to be.
Review 104:The bar was very expensive and we wasn't able to have breakfast in the morning, due to a private function which we wasn't told about.
Review 105:Was only a one night break, had a great sleep and the place was clean. Would stay here again.
Review 106:We had lots of noise from the next door room through to the early hours of the morning think it was a young group of men and ladies on a stag/hen do!! Think however a member of staff came to deal with the disruption and all went quiet.
Review 107:Loved the big comfortable bed breakfast was good and we found all the staff friendly and helpful. Would definitely staff again.
Review 108:Although the windows were double-glazed, the traffic noise throughout the night was very loud. The hotel is in the town centre so it was very loud after midnight when party-goers were leaving pubs and clubs and at 2 a.m. several of them arrived in the corridors of the hotel, again being very loud and slamming doors. Worst nights sleep I've had in a long time!
Review 109:The hotel was fine and the room was very spacious and clean. There were no towels in the room but staff were helpful and provided these immediately.
Review 110:We were not that taken with the décor and pictures etc - but that is purely a personal choice
Review 111:The staff were extremely attentive and helpful The full English breakfast was wonderful
Review 112:Staff
Review 113:The reception girl was very rude and unhelpful I was paying for my room in cash as dont deal with bank card due to been a epileptic... The girl said I could not check in as I needed a card I had more than enough money to cover a holding fee for breakages if any and to pay my room this girl was so rude and unhelpful I had to call my mum to help with this situation I was then advised that the pre authorisation of my girlfriends card would be 50 pound and woukd not be taken from her account 3 days later this still has not been refunded .... Total annoyed and will not book this hotel again due to the very rude reception and unhelpful of her .... We had travelled 5 hours and did not need this when we arrived
Review 114:Had little luggage on this occasion but would need a lift with heavier bags. Noisy late-comers woke me up at 1.40am.
Review 115:Comfortable bed and pillows. Efficient staff. Good-sized room and bathroom.
Review 116:Some of the rooms missed aircondition. The beds was hard. Noice from the traffic outside, so it was hard to sleep.
Review 117:Not far from high street. Good service.
Review 118:Of the four room we hired, one was an executive room. The differences were not apparent enough. Staff on the desk were rude, unapproachable and not very helpful. Bath mat very dirty. Needed more plug sockets.
Review 119:The rooms were a nice size. Breakfast was lovely and catering staff pleasant. Good location but got lost because I didn't want to ask the desk which way it was to the town centre.
Review 120:The bed was uncomfortable and the bathroom sink didn't drain properly. There was no fridge in the room either. But overall I liked my stay.
Review 121:The hotel had a great location in town, large modern rooms and excellent staff.
Review 122:Hard to find entrance gate to the car park poorly sign posted. Reception was dark and staff unfriendly. Dreadful smell on our corridor the morning we were leaving.
Review 123:The room was a good size and clean. The bed and bed linen were good quality. Air conditioning worked. Tea making facilities in the room
Review 124:Bathroom needed attention- plug didn't work in sink and bath had rust in the bottom so it was a little off putting to say the least. The breakfast was fair but the staff quite abrupt.
Review 125:Bedrooms spacious and comfortable. Reception staff helpful and friendly
Review 126:I very much enjoyed my stay even though it was for only 1 night! Excellent facilities, excellent location for high street Chelmsford or night life. Helpful staff and on site restaurant. Free wifi in room also. I would recommend for 1 night, a week or more.
Review 127:Hotel is very simple in design. Room facilities were poor given the price...cheap biscuits and cheap selection of toiletries compared to similar hotels.
Review 128:Hotel is in a good location, offers value for money, free secure parking, clean and suitably furnished rooms!
Review 129:The area is rather industrial and car parking facilities were not well sign posted. There was no indication that I could get into the car park just by stopping in front of the barrier. There was nowhere to eat or drink in the hotel until the evening.
Review 130:Room was fine and staff excellent.
Review 131:Young, drunken guests running around all over the place. Night time staff very unhelpful in dealing with the situation. We were given a room by a joining hall way door - constant banging at all hours - a nice weekend away turned into a sleepless night! Never again!
Review 132:Location,
Review 133:Value for money, I was expecting a grand hotel for the money, especially with it being in Chelmsford, their prices are similar to that of a hotel in London. The coffee machine had scum in the bottom of the water tank and I had to clean it myself. The staff at reception didn't show us to our room and weren't very friendly when we left.
Review 134:Bed was comfortable, had good features like the ironing board and hair dryer without having to ask for it at the reception
Review 135:Being in adjoining room with my son next door where you could hear everything!!!!
Review 136:Cleanliness, room style, lovely big bed friendly staff and good breakfast
Review 137:Unable to think of anything other than tv reception not very good....
Review 138:location suitable for Broomfield Hospital. Free parking really a bonus and very welcome. Staff very helpful. Room large, clean and very comfortable. Really impressed with free bottles water, especially in present weather conditions. Bed lovely and comfortable
Review 139:I think the road sign could be a little bigger from the road as you have to turn down what looks like an industrial estate to reach the enterance of the car park.
Review 140:Excellent customer service. Rooms a lovely size and well supplied. Very clean & tidy. Parking facilities excellent Perfect location
