Reviews for Ennislare Guest House

Review 1:I had a lot of trouble trying to check in. The staff had contacted me early afternoon asking for an estimated arrival time, which I provided. When I arrived (at the specified time), no one was available to let me in, and there was no response to the reception buzzer. The staff had posted a contact number on the door, but given that my phone wouldn't call internationally, I had to walk to find a pay phone to contact them.

Review 2:Room was comfortable and reasonably clean, toiletries were provided.

Review 3:The en suite shower lacked pressure on the night we were there.

Review 4:Pleasant family accommodation with big bay window overlooking the town, super breakfast, welcoming, friendly people. Enjoyable night in Bangor with the kids, who loved it.

Review 5:Bed was not comfortable and the room was so tiny! Wasn't expecting to have such a small room for my stay ?

Review 6:Owners were lovely. Breakfast was great!

Review 7:There's nothing I would change

Review 8:It was a very friendly relaxed atmosphere. Very comfortable bed & room. Everyone was very welcoming & I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. It's location is excellent.

Review 9:There was nothing to dislike about my stay at Ennislare House!

Review 10:Very relaxed & friendly atmosphere. Ann is a lovely, warm lady who made me feel very much at home. Guests have the use of a kitchen if they don't want to eat out.

Review 11:We phoned to say we would be there after 4pm as Anne said she was going out, we got there at 4:45 and no one was there to let us in. The room had not been cleaned when we got there and went up to the room, Anne stated that some one had used the room and she did not know about that and it did seem like a genuine mistake. However (as Anne said to us) there had not been a guest in the room for 6 or 7 days so you would think it would be checked before our arrival just in-case there was a leaking pipe or to give the room an airing? Other than that it was all fine apart from the noise from the street, but this is normal in a big town on a Saturday night.

Review 12:The breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice, lots of tea and toast, lovely marmalade and nice hot food. The location is very handy for the town and the water front, just a short walk down the road Lots of pubs and a few restaurants

Review 13:No-one there to greet us on arrival, phoned a number to be told where key had been "hidden", I could understand if this was later at night - but it was teatime. Also, our room was nothing like confirmation email has stated - double bed, views over Bangor, casual seating area. We got two singles, a room at the back of property you couldn't swing a cat in, two windows with views to a whitewashed brick wall and one seat outside shower cubicle - casual seating area? We have stayed here for many years now but found the service and owner have been getting more disappointing each stay. Need to start looking for a new B & B ..

Review 14:Location. Breakfast.

Review 15:Poor WiFi connection in my room but I was right in the eaves so might be why :) they were very helpful when I told them

Review 16:Wonderful host and AMAZING location right within walking distance of lots of tourist attractions, harbour and railway

Review 17:I loved everything about this place. The location, the owner, the room, the view from my window. It felt like being a guest in a friend's house, not a client among hundreds in an impersonal hotel. The only regret I have about this beautiful place is that I didn't spend more time around.

Review 18:It was peaceful and quite yet very central to the harbour & the busy main shopping area. The hosts were just wonderful and greeted me on arrival and were there each evening on returns for a chat, they were also there each morning to help serve with the breakfast even though there was separate person there to do the cooking and serve the breakfast. The rooms were spotless and everything was just top class, it was equally as good as hotels standard.

Review 19:n/a

Review 20:The owners were very welcoming. We arrived a bit later in the evening and they recommended a restaurant for us to eat at and happily delayed our check-in so we didn't miss dinner that night. The accommodations were as they were described in the posting.

Review 21:had bedroom 6 ,not ideal as I had to negotiate5 sets of stairs room small but comfy.as I am late 70,sit was not ideal.

Review 22:ann and barney were excellent hosts nothing was too much trouble.i was made very welcome.brill breakfast.

Review 23:Wi fi not working and the facility to pay by card also not working (our host did explain it was out of his control and had spent some time trying to have the problem fixed). Also Bangor is very hilly and the walk to the marina from the guest house is quiet tiring for those not so fit.

Review 24:Our host and hostess were very friendly and helpful

Review 25:No dislikes.

Review 26:Quite Centrally located. Friendly. Clean and Comfortable. Fairly Quiet. Nice Breakfast. (Wi-fi worked well.). Will definately be back! :-)

Review 27:I would have appreciated a few more towels

Review 28:Warmth and helpfulness of owners. Breakfast including good coffee, access to a kitchen and amenities such as an iron

Review 29:The shower was hard to figure out until we noticed the little pull cord hanging from the ceiling, very interesting! We loved it

Review 30:The hosts were most gracious and helpful!

Review 31:Owners didn't receive additional information re arrival times / request re room with easy access for an older relative with my booking which caused a lot of confusion! But they coped with it well & soon sorted everything out for us. A little more organisation would make this a truly excellent experience

Review 32:Lovely clean rooms. Very busy but friendly husband & wife team that couldn't do enough for us! Lovely breakfast

Review 33:Asked a few weeks in advance of arrival for a lower floor room as I have a bad knee but didn't get it. Very tired on arrival due to early start, so decided not to argue about it but this is the main reason I'm not giving it a higher rating

Review 34:Good Location, room clean and comfortable, good breakfast

Review 35:There was nothing I didn't like.

Review 36:The staff were friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, with a distinct Northern Irish addition of soda bread and potato bread, as an option with the cooked breakfast.

Review 37:Going back home after such a great weekend!

Review 38:We all enjoyed our stay/ breakfast. We felt very welcomed by Ann. Great B&B! We'll definately be staying here again

Review 39:rooms were spotless, staf were great, couldn't be more pleasant. Bed was really comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent. Highly recommended.

Review 40:Landlady is generally not there after breakfast. Permanent msg on door to ring a number in her absence. I had trouble with my mobile credit and took a long time before I could get my credit put on to phone and tell her I had been there one hour and was very fatigued and hungry and had headache after travelling all day from Tipperary. Couldn't go anywhere to eat as had my luggage. No taxi cards out and she was to leave some but didn't so had a long walk to the station to order one and had an important school reunion and was late and tired when I got there. Was overcharged for taxi too apparently. Next to my room - every morning noisy sounds of water tank heating up.

Review 41:Breakfast excellent. Best ever. Landlady pleasant. Girls working there were good.

Review 42:This is a Guesthouse run by extremely friendly and helpful people. The decor is a little tired, however my bedroom was adequate and excellent value for money. The breakfast which is included in the price was excellent.

Review 43:The best part would have to be the lovely food served in the morning for breakfast. Staff were extremely helpful and would thoroughly recommend this B & B.

Review 44:I had an overnight stay with my cousin and we were made to feel welcome from the minute we stepped through the front door. The staff were all lovely and I would definitely recommend it to friends and I'd stay again.

Review 45:A warm welcome from the outset that continued throughout our stay. Comfy beds with great pillows ensured a good night's sleep. Good choice for breakfast in the morning, you can be healthy or have the cooked breakfast. Parking on site and the centre of Bangor is a short walk away.

Review 46:In a country full of friendly places to stay, this place still manages to stand out! I had a great stay and the breakfast was awesome! Positively career boosting.

Review 47:Good location close to harbour and restaurants. Breakfast was lovely. Room a bit small but fine for a short stay. Friendly owner and staff. Easy parking.

Review 48:Having to get out of bed with a hangover this morning to leave :( Everything else was perfect :)

Review 49:My fiancée and myself stayed here last night for a short break. Very clean and well looked after little guesthouse and the rooms and beds were very comfortable and cosy.My fiancée loved it because she said it felt like a wee home away from home and the staff were so welcoming and helpful.Very close to the train station and everything in Bangor is walking distance away but the guesthouse is just hidden enough for a perfect relaxing wee break. Breakfast was great and served with a smile and the general atmosphere of this wee place was more friendly than anywhere else we have stayed. I would recommend ennislare to anyone and it really is fantastic value for money. We will definitely be back in the future :)

Review 50:I was in town recently from Canada to attend a funeral. Anne was incredibly welcoming, and greeted me with a cup of tea and then showed me to my room. I had the sweetest room for 1 (single bed) and it suited my circumstances perfectly. Breakfast was great too!

Review 51:I had a bit of a problem with a weak signal on the WiFi on my mobile but that was a minor inconvenience.

Review 52:I stayed at the Ennislare for 2 nights in January 2015. I was totally happy with my stay, the room was good and the breakfast was excellent. The staff were very friendly, provided an excellent service and helped in any way they could. The location is very good, approx 5 mins walk to the marina and to the train station. If I visit Bangor in the future I would definitely stay here again.

Review 53:We stayed here just before xmas.We had our daughter with us. We really enjoyed the stay the staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and was great value for money

Review 54:Cant think of a single thing I didn't like

Review 55:Good location central to town, within easy walking distance, good food friendly and helpful staff, value for money.

Review 56:The guest house is about 10 minutes from the train/bus station, with fantastic and cheap access to Belfast and all the places in between. We had a superb view from our en suite room, looking out towards the marina, which was lovely. The breakfast was outstanding and the owners were incredibly friendly.

Review 57:Heating not on in room on arrival. Was promptly put on and efficient.

Review 58:Very comfortable stay with friendly service. Good quality breakfast cooked to order. Excellent value for money

Review 59:We arrived early but couldnt get in but we knew arrivel time was 2pm but thought we would get in an hour early at least like most places if the room had been turned over..room was cold when we came(heating wasn't on but was working in our friends rooms) and we had to shower/change when cold but was warm in the morning.could hear the folk next door snoring most the night..maybe supply ear plugs be an idea.

Review 60:Was near to the harbour front and 5 main walk from the main Street. easy got to..staff friendly. Breakfast was nice..

Review 61:The shower didn't have enough water pressure. Heating was switched off during the night and it became quite cold.

Review 62:The personal touch that a B&B brings compared to large hotels. Quiet location but close enough to walk into town.

Review 63:The break was too short!

Review 64:The staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The family room was spacious with four proper beds, no sofa beds. Breakfast was excellent and, whilst they had a menu, any requests were taken without any fuss.

Review 65:There wasn't anything that I did not like

Review 66:1. Good location to the Town Centre 2. Friendliness of Patron. 3. Excellent choice of type of breakfast

Review 67:Quiet, comfortable and the owners were lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was lovely and no complaints about the room. All in all if I am travelling that way again I will be sure to rebook

Review 68:Nothing.

Review 69:Given room on 1st floor s requested.Early breakfast so we could get to show on time. Good room and excellent en suite. Owner very helpful. Able to park at front of house.

Review 70:They had filled the majority of the rooms with owners with dogs. Labradors, Alsatians, mixed with creaky Victorian floorboards, owners who took them out at 11pm and up again at 4.30am meant very little sleep. Not to mention hearing the dog being sick above us about 4am one morning and then hearing the owners scrubbing the carpet. If this wasn't enough unfortunately I had a family death whilst there and had to return to England as soon as possible. The landlady heard our complaints about the dogs and gave very fake apologies was more interested in getting the money she was owed whether we were leaving early or not. For an extra £10-£20 a night book a hotel rather than this guesthouse. Not the usual irish welcome and friendly people I usually encounter when over.

Review 71:Room was nice and the lady who assists the lady in charge was lovely. Even went out and got me gluton free bread

Review 72:There was nothing we didn't like rooms were spotless food excellent thought we were in 5 star hotel

Review 73:The comfort was great as for the staff they went over and beyond their duties. I had a meal in the town and took ill Jenny and Anne looked after myself and my partner first class they were both real Florence Nightingale's nothing was to much trouble for them even going and getting me a prescription from a local hospital . I can't thank them enough

Review 74:There was nothing that warrants a mention.

Review 75:The friendly home from home comforts, our two dogs were made most welcome and it was enjoyable to walk them along the the lovely marina area.

Review 76:lack of parking but that was because when we returned on the Saturday evening the car park was full, including 2 vans so we had to park up the road. Was ok on the Sunday evening.

Review 77:Breakfast was great, large choice. We were cold on the first night, mentioned this the next morning and that evening the heating was put on for a while, plus the next morning which was just what we needed.

Review 78:Too far to walk to restaurants with an 80 year old mother. Nothing else to complain, we did not know at time of booking.

Review 79:We were happy they changed our elderly mothers room down to only one set of stairs. Cooked breakky, comfortable bed, warm shower. Parking off the street and free wifi.

Review 80:I have stayed here twice for work purposes and highly recommend it! The owner is so hospitable and accommodating to me on each visit. Extremely clean and comfortable. Highly recommended

Review 81:I usually stay in Belfast. The price was great. The fantastic breakfast set me and my son up for the day. Location excellent to all amenities. Staff very friendly.

Review 82:Owners and staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast were wonderful. Two-hundred year old dwelling, kept in excellent shape. Free Internet use. Couldn't have been any nicer.

Review 83:Room requested not available which meant we had spend first night in one room and then move next night. It could have been a lot cleaner.

Review 84:Location good, staff very friendly, breakfast excellant

Review 85:The room was a tiny single bed, the mattress was hard and worn. The TV didn't tilt down so you could see it in bed. The photo shown of the rooms were not the one I stayed in.

Review 86:The manager was very friendly and helpful. She knew everyone by name, which was a really nice personal touch. Breakfast was excellent. Everything was very clean.

Review 87:Only option for breakfast was between 8:30 and 9 when we checked in. Just a little early if on a relaxing break. Our bin was a bit dirty and had coffee stains.

Review 88:The house was in a great location. Very nice host and very comfortable bed with pristine sheets. Very clean towels and really nice to have shampoo and conditioner provided in the bathroom. Lovely big room with big windows.

Review 89:No one was there when we arrived mid-afternoon. We waited an hour and got voicemail when we called the phone # posted on the door. So we left and returned in the evening. When we did arrive, our check-in felt rushed.

Review 90:Nice room and breakfast. Cook provided breakfast on a tray for our son who had slept in.

Review 91:there was nothing to dislike

Review 92:We stayed here with our 10yr old grandson for 2 nights. We had a family room it had 3 beds and an en-suite shower room. It was spotless It also had a sea view. We all enjoyed our breakfast on both mornings and would stay here again if in Bangor

Review 93:Staff were really friendly and helpful. Great nights sleep, great food, beautiful room, had booked a single but ended up with a double at no extra cost! Good facilities, close to town but still quiet at night so good sleep. Loving the Ulster fry in the mornin!

Review 94:The room had nothing to do with te pictures. You could hear perfectly the next room kids srceaming.

Review 95:The breakfast was really good, clean and the little staff was very kind and willing to help.

Review 96:- great location - staff very friendly - there was a kitchen we could use to cook which is really helpful with young children - there was a lounge downstairs with sky tv - the breakfast was lovely - very child friendly

Review 97:The Guest House is well positioned, clean and comfortable. We felt looked after by the friendly staff, especially as we arrived a little early due to a wedding and they very kindly prepared our room. Very yummy breakfast and good value for money throughout.

Review 98:The bed was very uncomfortable and there were no shelves in the bathroom by the basin.

Review 99:The Staff were very pleasant and the breakfast was excellent. Very pleasant room which was nice and clean. Well located in Bangor and easy to find.

Review 100:Beds not made freshly every day. Some Beds were essentially planks of wood with mattress added and a headboard. Quality of food. Told salmon must come with scrambled eggs as it comes ready made in pack like that. Poor quality sausages, black pudding. Even soda & potato bread were not what Ulster food is famed for. Tiny dining room with no room at all for comfort.

Review 101:Not sure. Proximity to better seaside towns than Bangor.

Review 102:The 'attic rooms' are too small, for a solo traveller with even only one suitcase! Twin rooms are great, though, (eg;1&3) with a great big ,bright bathroom.

Review 103:Location, value for money & excellent breakfast.

Review 104:Could not get hot water during the day.

Review 105:Very clean comfortable and a great location. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Location was great as it was just out of the main part of town but everything was within easy walking distance .

Review 106:Very good breakfast!

Review 107:The shower was not powerful room was too warm but apart from that everything was fine

Review 108:Comfortable bed food was good

Review 109:Wifi very poor

Review 110:Calm location

Review 111:Everything

Review 112:Excellent hospitality

Review 113:Lovely hosts, cosy comfortable accommodation, excellent breakfast.
