Reviews for Le Champ Des Oiseaux

Review 1:The heating & hot water stopped working but once reported to the staff was repaired quickly & efficiently.

Review 2:It was all wonderful. The hotel is tasteful & elegant with amazing food & attentive staff. With a complimentary upgrade to a beautiful suite all was perfect.

Review 3:Room seemed slightly overpriced compared to others we have enjoyed. Restaurant was closed. Wine list pricey (but delicious). Swimming pool tiny.

Review 4:Great location, nicely designed, romantic setting. Staff very helpful.

Review 5:Needs showers installing as spray head in bath is irritating. Also please provide kettle and tea tray in room.

Review 6:Lovely place. Friendly helpful staff. Late breakfast service is a welcome luxury.

Review 7:Poor customer care. We had a problem with water pouring through ceiling into our first room. We had to move rooms twice. There was no acknowledgment that this was disruptive to us. Wi-fi dreadful.

Review 8:We stayed for 2 nights and experienced 3 rooms in that time - all had good facilities and were attractive. Location near the cathedral is good.

Review 9:NO air conditioning!, and in May it wasn't that hot yet, what it must be in the Summer at the top floor, right under the roof, with the sun beating down on it and through the windows. The windows were closed, so no air had been allowed in: no wonder, NO MOSQUITOES NETTING, so easy to instal and would avoid other problems. They are also "tight" in providing with the little luxuries that other hotels offer: slippers, and other amenities, under the pretext to save the planet...... Staff was just not interested in hearing it.

Review 10:The old bldg is amazing and now that they have joined with La Maison de Rhodes (where we stayed some years ago) it makes it a little heaven in the centre of the city.

Review 11:I could not fault Le Champ.

Review 12:Lovely old building with courtyards, large, comfortable rooms and very friendly staff. We arrived much later than planned but we're still able to get room service.

Review 13:Internal isolation in terms of noise could be better.

Review 14:Great historical character of the hotel, beautifully decorated, staff welcoming. We had dinner in the hotel, which was delicious. We also highly recommend the breakfast.

Review 15:The architecture, style and design of the hotel are a perfect backdrop for the delicious food. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff completed a delightful visit.

Review 16:spiral staircase to rooms in main reception area; noisy creeky and narrow steps; I fell down and landing on the marble floor was very painful - luckily no breaks just badly bruised. Would still go back though!

Review 17:Courteous, helpful staff, beautiful rooms, spacious, immaculately clean and well supplied with soft dressing gowns plus all the usual but good quality. Food fantastic !!

Review 18:Th price was too high for the very small size, and to add insult to injury, they charged us for breakfast. We knew it was an upmarket hôtel, but to charge for breakfast was a bit on the greedy side.

Review 19:Everything but the price.

Review 20:No shower only a bath Restaurant not open Quite expensive but was a treat

Review 21:Beautiful view of the gardens ,very spacious room huge Bathroom Quiet area of the town

Review 22:a. Dinner menu a little restricted though v good!

Review 23:A. Staff welcome and helpfulness b. Location (parking outside) and spectacular building c. Breakfast d. Comfort and cleanliness of rooma

Review 24:Food & wine rather expensive particularly breakfast as price the same as other hotels in the area but selection much more limited.

Review 25:Beautiful building, lovely decor and furnishing.

Review 26:A little bit expensive but you have to consider the structure and beauty

Review 27:Location is great to get to coast. Nicest town I have visited. Hotel is stunning throughout. Food is basic but good.

Review 28:The dinner was lovely but I would call it very accomplished home cooking and as such the prices seem rather steep. We enjoyed it hugely nonetheless.

Review 29:Stunning buildings beautfully restored, a lovely spacious bedroom, gorgeous toiletries, beautiful gardens to have a drink or breakfast in, a small pool (which we regret not trying), really kind staff. A truly luxurious experience.

Review 30:Bit expensive, especially the food. Very poor television channel choice, no English speaking channels available.

Review 31:Location, room was great and very comfortable

Review 32:Very limited secure parking and the on-road parking is in a very narrow street but seemed to work OK.

Review 33:The staff were extremely helpful. The location was excellent and the hotel good in all aspects.

Review 34:Despite the size and comfort of the rooms, the shower was just a flexible spray on the bath, for which you had to sit or kneel in the bath. Not acceptable for the price. The food, while an excellent example of Burgundian style cooking, was very heavy on the stomach. It would be good to have one or two lighter options for those of us who aren't used to the richness and fat content. Breakfast in the courtyard was lovely.

Review 35:The building is excellent and dining in the courtyard is another world. A great stopover and very relaxing. Staff are friendly, rooms are fascinating, luxurious and comfy (except for the shower). Overall an experience not to be missed.

Review 36:I like the old beams in the bedroom, and the window shutters, it's very French. A and the character of the place, it's very romantic. The breakfast is lovely too. And the town is pretty.

Review 37:Our room was near and under a set of stairs. The sound of people using these stairs was disruptive both late at night and early in the morning. A dinner suggestion sent us to a tourist trap that was quite disappointing.

Review 38:Quaint and cozy design, large clean bathroom and comfortable reading nooks in lobby, garden and interior patio.

Review 39:Breakfast was very overpriced and very little choice offered

Review 40:Beautiful historic surroundings, very helpful and attentive staff, within walking distance of historic centre and restaurants.

Review 41:We didn't get a dinner reservation as they were fully booked but it smelt great, the swimming pool was small but nice and clean and big enough for short lengths. Shame we couldn't stay longer.

Review 42:Wonderful hotel, such a beautifully restored building, lovely staff at breakfast, warmed milk for coffee etc. Great view of the museum of art out the window, right in the centre of town, the cathedral at the back.

Review 43:No air conditioning( appreciate it is an old building) so had windows open but overlooked the narrow road outside so a little noisy. Breakfast good but could have been a little more generous.

Review 44:Loved the building, fantastic renovation project, pleasant staff , excellent position, free parking in surrounding area, well signposted directions around the city so easy to find despite being tucked away near the Cathedral.

Review 45:The restaurant was very poor and relatively expensive, food was far below the price point and definitively not recommended. Service was good and wine list excellent. Must try much harder if the restaurant was to match the hotel...

Review 46:It is a fantastic building restored to a very high standard with the very best bathroom we have ever seen. Location is quiet but close to the town center, all together a great hotel for accommodation and location... Avoid the restaurant...

Review 47:Nothing!

Review 48:Brilliant location in the old quarter. The staff were very helpful, and upgraded our room to improve the physical access. The personal attention of the chef proprietor.

Review 107:The price, but you get what you pay for

Review 108:The building, the rooms and the food. Wonderful. Thank you.

Review 109:No tea/coffee making facilities in room. No satellite TV stations (BBC etc..) Room very dark - not much window area. Toilet in the alcove (cramped !) Expensive hotel but not exceptional quality.

Review 110:Friendly helpful staff. breakfast in the courtyard.

Review 111:Was just a bit shocked when the bill came and it was 40 euros for the two of us, although it was nice it was far to expensive in my opinion.

Review 112:Service, staff, design, atmosphere and breakfast are all excellent, would happily recommend to others

Review 113:Having to leave!

Review 114:Everything. It's one of the most beautiful hotels we've ever stayed in. The staff are wonderful and the food in the restaurant exquisite.

Review 115:fantastic place, we had a very good stay. The place and the staff were above our expectations. I strongly recommend the place and the local restaurant .

Review 116:We stayed consecutive Friday nights on our way to and from another part of France and found the already very small menu had not changed at all from one week to the next. Food, however, was good and service excellent.

Review 117:The hotel is in a beautiful old building that has been sensitively restored and decorated. The staff could not have been more helpful and the atmosphere was very homely and welcoming. Fantastic breakfast, very comfortable room and pretty bathroom. Easy walk into town but far enough away to be lovely and quiet at night

Review 118:Room was small, a little cramped, as was the good quality bed (queen size), my husbands 6'3"! The wi-fi wasn't working which caused a major problem as we needed to book a Eurotunnel and do some work as we were on business trip...the huge spotlights mounted outside below our room, shone upwards! so we couldn't open the shutters or windows without being lit-up. they were turned off at midnight thankfully. Not sure if it was really worth €200....

Review 119:Beautiful building, decor & interiors, cleanliness, everything smelt lovely! Staff were most attentive.

Review 120:Breakfast was not included, we were unaware of this until we paid thebill. We felt a little bit mislead, it was somewhat pricey too.

Review 121:Room was big and spacious, huge bathroom, very clean! We were able topark right in front of the hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 122:A rather ordinary breakfast was extraordinarily expensive!! This is an expensive hotel and at the prices charged I feel they would generate a lot of good will/extra bookings/return custom by including it in the rate! The toiletries were sadly lacking and some broken lightbulbs - more attention to housekeeping needed!

Review 123:Great location and very beautiful old building in the medieval town of Troyes. Very comfortable beds and spacious room and bathroom.

Review 124:We loved our stay at Le Champ Des Oiseaux in beautiful and charming Troyes. The hotel was so historical but beautifully restored and very comfortable. We stayed in a room on the top floor and although there was a steep staircase to climb it was amazing and the view over the art museum next door was superb. We had dinner in their restuarant and it too was amazing. In an intimate rustic setting the chef Rene made us feel as if we were having our own private dinner party ( for 6) although there were others dining too! The food was a gourmet treat and worth every euro spent as it was so special. The breakfast next morning was also excellent. The staff were all very efficient and friendly. The city of Troyes also has a huge factory outlet on the outskirt of town for all the designer brands so shopping was fantastic. It was also very good in the city centre which is an easy stroll from the hotel. Also it is a quiet area so we could sleep with our window open and hear the bells next morning.

Review 125:Dinner menu poor and overpriced.

Review 126:Fantastic conversion of an old building with beautiful peaceful courtyards and lovely beamed rooms. Friendly attentive staff. Parking outside. Superb breakfast served at your table.

Review 127:Your description of 'beautiful room'. I felt this was confusing. It was a perfectly nice room but not quite beautiful. I was expecting something better than your suites, which are really lovely

Review 128:I like the location. The beautiful building, and interior design. The food prepared by your very special chef, his personal touch and enthusiasm is enjoyed when eating his daily sourced fare.

Review 129:The vine draped courtyard. The wonderful restoration of a medieval house. Very comfortable beds and quality bed linens. Delicious breakfast in the courtyard. The swimming pool - an unexpected treat. the location - in the heart of the medieval town within walking distance of great cafes. The helpful and accommodating staff. Parking!
