Reviews for Le Grand Chalet des Pistes
Review 1:Think there should be a rubbish collection in the hotel. Had to walk across the street to dispose of rubbish. Shame you did not have a restaurant for evenings.
Review 2:Friendly staff, especially the bar staff. Convenient location
Review 3:It was a fair walk into meribel centre where most of the pubs/restaurants were. The bed is a fold out sofa.
Review 4:Well situated close to rond point ski run, convenient if you're skiing/boarding. Great view. We really enjoyed the steam room/sauna
Review 5:The room we had was a bit cramped for the 4 of us, it would have been ideal for 2. But having had more than a few holidays in this resort it is pretty standard.
Review 6:Great location for ski/in ski/out and good lift access at Rond Point and only a short ski to all major lifts at Chaudanne. Initially we were a little disappointed with the room they had reserved for us. But after we had pointed this out the staff were very helpful in finding us a more suitable room.
Review 7:We were trapped in lift for an hour (not their fault), but the only member of staff on duty when this happened at 10pm went home leaving us distressed and waiting alone for 50mins for the fire brigade. Next day another staff member accused us of having more than 6 in the lift (maximum in lift was 6, we had 6) and said it was our fault (for putting too many people in lift despite finally conceding we were within the rules) Zero sympathy, terrible service in a supposedly customer focussed industry.
Review 8:Location right by slopes and the rond point pub perfect for après ski
Review 9:Difficult attitude of receptionist concerning friend's parking. I didn't find the main person very helpful although the other person tried and apologised. Late access to room on arrival (5pm) very unhelpful and attitude not very accommodating.
Review 10:very helpful friendly bar staff
Review 11:Laura the bar staff was VERY unhelpful and doesn't know the meaning of customer Service! Unmanned reception so that when fire alarm went off no one to help
Review 12:Great location Amazing views Helpful, reception staff
Review 13:Room 16, studio is noisy, as next to reception. A fire alarm was triggered, and sorted - except the closed reception area had a small alarm beep going all night - persistent and sleep-depriving. No-one to turn it off, no number to call, no help. And no apology at all from management. Not even a sorry.
Review 14:Location, location, location. Near good restaurants (walking distance). Ski piste 20m away.
Review 15:The day to code of wifi , then when you did log on the reception and service was poor , our room wasn't made at all during our stay , or cleaned
Review 16:Great location of hotel , plenty of snow helped
Review 17:Getting luggage in and out of the apartment was a bit cumbersome.
Review 18:Location for access to ski slopes; good restaurants within walking distance; good, reasonably priced parking.
Review 19:Difficult communication prior to arrival, staff kept expecting me to know things I had never been told.
Review 20:The faculties were much better then I expected and I chose this spot as its right next to Rond Point where you find the best après
Review 21:rooms a little cramped but thats ski chalets not the most comfortable beds
Review 22:right across from Rond Point Apres Bar which has great bands 5-7pm 40m from wet room to slopes not in the village its up form the village but almost ski in ski out and free bus makes it a great location friendly and helpful staff could ski back at night and only walk 40m to wet room
Review 23:The studio room was quite small and we found it cramped at times for 3 of us, it would be uncomfortable with 4 people.
Review 24:Excellent location, the room contained everything you need for a self catering holiday and the optional breakfast (€12.50) was excellent
Review 25:- No WIFI even after we were told it was fixed. - Checkout is not very flexible if you need to leave early - Snow is not cleared from car park until mid morning, making it difficult for early leavers
Review 26:- Excellent Location - Clean rooms - Enough space for 3 young kids - Decent facilities
Review 27:You could stay here and self cater to make a reasonably priced holiday in a premium location. We had a minor problem with the room and it was dealt with immediately and with apologies.
Review 28:No washing machine available in the chalet (there's a laundry in the center). No clothes line to dry your clothes at the end of a rainy day (Meribel is usually quite sunny but we have had a lot of rain during our stay...). Many sport shops in Meribel are closed in summer. They mostly offer skiing equipment and accessories. Great to get those discounted skiing shoes, but much less choice in summer equipment (go to Pralognan, next to Courchevel, for really a great choice of summer equipment at very good prices).
Review 29:Great location with nice chalets in wood and stone, no ugly blocks of flats; that's why we find Meribel much more attractive than Courchevel or Les Menuires. An apartment for 8 persons, ground floor, with reasonable space. Well equipped kitchen. Two bathrooms + separate wc, free toiletries. Nice view of mountains from the sitting room. Well-known skiing domain but the pistes don't really spoil the view. Free bus service in the Meribel valley - you can easily get around without a car, 30min interval. Lift system interconnecting the Three Valleys (Courchevel-Meribel-Menuires) also available in summer (Courchevel-Meribel via Saulire, Meribel-Menuires via Tougnete). Info evening about guided walks etc given on Sunday, with free tasting of local products. Lovely ice cream sundae (not free :)) Indoor (paid) and outdoor (free) games - badminton, table tennis, archery, jeu de boules and many more. Swimming pool and ice rink just under the hill; discount pass available (better rates when bought via the accommodation). Great cheese shop (Cooperative Laitiere = directly from the producers, lower prices) down in Meribel just next to the Spar supermarket. Free wi-fi available in the chalet (slow at some moments but still usable). Free (open) parking place next to the chalet, free (in summer) covered car park just on the other side of the street. No cleaning fee if you do the cleaning yourself. We loved our stay!

Review 31:Amazing location
Review 32:Expensive for what it is
Review 33:Good location, good condition. Staff helpful and friendly. Good bar downstairs.
Review 34:Nothing
Review 35:Value for money
Review 36:Nothing it was a fabulous trip and I'd certainly stay here again
Review 37:Great location, fabulous staff and great value for money as I booked late.
Review 38:The hotel is really close to the nursery slopes so it's the perfect place to stay with young children or anyone who is learning to ski.
Review 39:Staff very friendly and efficient.
Review 40:nothing
Review 41:we loved it, location in front of the ski slopes. breakfast can be booked. easy parking. friendly staff.
Review 42:wifi
Review 43:location
Review 44:the bedroom is too small for 4 beds, it is very crowded.
Review 45:Elevators are very small especially when carrying luggage.
Review 46:Very convenient location . Apartment was well equipped with good sized bathroom .
Review 47:Location, location, location...couldn't get better!
Review 48:Small rooms, there was no kitchen detergent or dishwasher powder. Can't check in until after 5 pm
Review 49:Location, clean rooms.
Review 50:Outdated wifi
Review 51:Location
Review 52:Single beds with blankets Missed the 'balcony' option when booking (didn't know my room had no balcony) Bad WiFi in the room
Review 53:At the slopes Nice bathroom Bar and terrace Parking Friendly staff
Review 54:The prices could include the sauna and hammam as well. The wifi signals didn't reach the room exactly, I had to stand in the doorway to use in the multiple occassions.
Review 55:The apartment was fully equipped, we were able to cook and eat. Our apartment was a little small however it was cozy. The location is perfect, right across the pistes and rond point. The rond point has one of the best bars in Meribel. Although, it states that wifi is in only public areas, they had wifi in the rooms which is perfect.
Review 56:Size of rooms. The 6 person room was a bit crammed with 6 people!
Review 57:Stayed here with a group of 10. We stayed in a 6 room and a 4 room. Found the staff friendly and the apartments were clean. Would recommend. Location is about 20 mins walk from village but free bus stop next to hotel. Perfect location for rond point bar for après ski :)
Review 58:Location is great - easy ride down from Folie Douce and opposite "Ronnie" (good pub with Live Music) Great deal - the place was really nice and just happened to be cheap Bus service very close and regular going into the village.
Review 59:No oven in the kitchenet.
Review 60:Good mountain access, good car park, easy room access, very clean, good ski/snowboard storage and access, a nice place to stay.
Review 61:Rooms are on the small side but still fine. Bit of a trek to town but the bus service is great anyway so no issues.
Review 62:The location is amazing... Opposite the rond point (best bar in the three valleys!!!!) and straight onto the piste. Good facilities and excellent price.
Review 63:Nothing negative to say.
Review 64:A fantastic location next to the piste, the excellent Aprés Ski Rond Point bar and bus stop. There are good restaurants nearby. We got a last minute deal which was excellent value for money.
Review 65:I prefer to have BK included and it didn't seem like a good value as an add on. The beds and sleeping accommodations were not the best we had in Europe because they prioritized the other areas of the room like dinning and having a sofa/kitchen. Great if you are looking to save a bit of money or have more people in your group. I would have preferred less space in my room with a more welcoming public area like we found in Austria and Switzerland.
Review 66:Great location on Piste. The kitchen was great to have after having travelled to many other hotels without.
Review 67:place was great..there were a few reviews that were negative but i found the place to be opposite of what they were saying and for the relative price compared to this region this place is a no brainer if you are on a budget you have to put up with a bit more fuss..if youre not prepared to put up with anything, spend more money to be pampered completely.
Review 68:The potential cleaning cost of the appartment if it wasn't up to their standard.
Review 69:The facilities in the apartment were good compared to some others that we have used in Meribel.
Review 70:The apartments are smoking areas. We arrived in a smoky place and ittook 2 days for the smell to disappear. We had to let the windows openat night. It was very uncomfortable because we are non smokers and noone at reception really cared. You should be able to book a non smokingapartment. We are in 2013 ! Every service is very expensive. Thecleaning is 60 euros but you still have to clean the kitchen before yourdeparture. That's too much when a hour of house cleaning is usually12 euros in Paris. The apartments are far too small. Do not expect toshare a studio with 4 people. You won't be able to breathe. Theapartments are also quite old. They need to be refreshed. The kitchendoes not have windows. It is just a small corridor. The beds are veryuncomfortable and we are not demanding. It is not good value for money, but we went there, because of the great location.
Review 71:The location. It is a mix of an hotel and a residence. You can orderyour breakfast if you want to. You have an easy access to allfacilities; the groceries are very close.
Review 72:Very basic accomodation. You have to fully clean the room (even take outrubbish). If you didn't you were fined 250 euro. The staff come intothe room and count all the cutlery before you leave to ensure youahven't stolen anything! Will never stay here again.
Review 73:Nothing good to say about the hotel. Was too basic for the price paid.
Review 74:I will be making a formal complaint. The owner of the hotel blamed yourpoor communication for what happened at the end of my stay and suggestedthat he will not use your services again. In truth the owner is veryanti English. What happened was that on the last day the receptionattempted to charge me €75 for cleaning services - at no point were weinformed that it was our responsibility to prepare the room as we foundit so that the next tennants could move straight in. It is a fairassumtion that the hotel would provide cleaners upon check out. Howeverwhen expressing this the hotel owner called me a small English manwithout intergrity, sore at me in French and the asked me to get out ofhis hotel and never come back. I would add that the room was left cleanhowever we had obviously not spent hours on our hands and kneesscrubbing the floor. I am never seen such a level of disgusting customerservice in my life. Two English couples watching the argument came toreception to also complain that they were not given any form ofinstruction about check out either (in my defense) and they were alsorudely dismissed. As I was asked to leave the hotel we had no where toleave our luggage - which ruined out last day of skiing. I look forwardto your response.Regards Richard
Review 75:The studio apartment is too small for 4 ! We had to book another room which made it very expensive.
Review 76:Position and helpful staff
Review 77:Lack of après ski ambience.
Review 78:Flexibility to eat out or in and proximity to slopes. Also a good ski in ski out ski locker. People were friendly
Review 79:The room was too small if 4 people had been sharing not happy with no double bed and needed to make the beds up every night
Review 80:Ski in ski out. Rooms well equipped. Good bus service into town. Would stay again.
Review 81:The cleaning fee - just include it all as one fee for the cost of the apartment
Review 82:The location - its right next to the slopes
Review 83:To have to pay for parking
Review 84:Position Ski lockers Standard of furnishings General comfort Bathroom
Review 85:Nothing.
Review 86:Excellent location, staff and facilities. Great views of the mountains and you can be skiing within 2 minutes from leaving the chalet.
Review 87:The food smell on the corridors and a microwave owen missing from the kitchen.
Review 88:Perfect location, quiet and confortable.
Review 89:-Noise from neighbours -Small Room
Review 90:-Location -Friendly staff -Everything what is needed is present in the studio
Review 91:The one bedroom apartment was quite big and excellent for 3 men. Two toilets was particularly handy!
Review 92:Comfortable & friendly environment.
