Reviews for Hotel Arlequin
Review 1:Quaint old building near to the old centre, shops, bars and restaurants. Parking on the road nearby free from 7pm to 9am. Good buffet breakfast. Very friendly staff. No lift but we were able to manage the stairs to the 3rd floor.
Review 2:The hotel was out of expectation, very traditional beautiful apartment, and the madam there was very helpful and kind. We had a very pleasant stay here!
Review 3:Excellent customer service. My daughter lost her I-phone, but the hotel were very helpful in locating it and sending it back to us free of charge. Very helpful and generous - beyond the call of duty.
Review 4:Downside is that the hotel does not have any car parking facilities and you have to be lucky to find a public one nearby. (hassle for the luggage)
Review 5:Extremly friendly recepionist who was very helpfuI. The hotel is also located in the center of town, which is very convenient if one wants to tour through this beautiful and interesting city. The rooms were quiet and we slept well. The confort was obviously according to a 2 star hotel.but it was very clean, which is rather important to us. Also the breakfast buffet was good and tasteful and made you feel good with a friendly waiter. We would reconsider to sojourn if we went back in the same area
Review 6:Nothing
Review 7:Very central location close to the town centre. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Lot of decent restaurants within a 5 minute walk. would definitely recommend.
Review 8:Central in the old part of town, with reasonable access to historical buildings. The room was a good size. The hotel directed me to a free parking area!
Review 9:Extremely noisy at night, people on the street below the window of our room were talking so loud even after midnight so basically I could not sleep almost for the entire night. We were staying in the room for four just above the entrance of the hotel at 2F. To sum up, don't think the room worth for a price of 98 euros per night.
Review 10:The staff were friendly and the room is ok. Plus there is street parking just next to the hotel. And it is free from 19:00 to 7:00 next morning, which is good for those who come here by car.
Review 11:The free wifi was very weak providing little or no connection. Bathrooms were a little out dated, showers weren't great but certainly clean and adequate for our purposes.
Review 12:Very friendly staff. The two rooms were connected so great for us as a family. Nice traditional feel to the hotel.
Review 13:Lovely room with real charm that had ample space, wish we had spent more than one night. Beds really comfy and heard no noise from outside or in. Perfect.
Review 14:Due to a delay I missed my connecting train and so would be arriving in Troyes after the hotel reception had closed. I rang the hotel to explain this and the receptionist could not have been more helpful; providing me with the code to gain entry into the hotel and assuring me that my room would be unlocked and the keys on the table in the room.
Review 15:Some insects were to be found inside our room. WiFi did not work with Apple products though worked with a Nokia.
Review 16:The hotel seemed old but not weary. Not right in the city centre but close enough. The staff were friendly and helpful. Really good value.
Review 17:The bed was a bit hard for my liking.
Review 18:Great location and nice room, with air conditioning which was important on a very hot night. Excellent French breakfast.
Review 19:The corridors up to room and stairs looked a little shabby so wasn't expecting the room to be up to much but it was lovely.
Review 20:Lady on reception was very helpful, friendly and efficient. Room was a great size, clean and well equipped. Location was fantastic. Same lady served us at breakfast and again very helpful.
Review 21:Hotel was perfectly placed to explore the town and parking was readily available nearby and free overnight. We were only staying one night on the way further south but wished we had longer! Family room was large and comfortable and decorated in true French shabby chic! Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend.
Review 22:Dirty, scruffy, smelled of Febreze, fabric chair was old and stained, beds smelled horrible, dirty walls. Wifi did not work, asked reception to help they said it probably wouldn't get through the walls! Thought we'd paid on Booking.com and were chased up the street obviously went back, apologised and paid.
Review 23:Nothing negative for our stay although stairs might be difficult for some travelers. There is no elevator so carrying large luggage may be difficult.
Review 24:Convenient location. Easy walk to town center and lots of cafes and restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Friendly and helpful staff. Room size was superb and very spacious with an updated bathroom.
Review 25:Nothing to complain.
Review 26:Excellent location. The staff (both receptionist and breakfast boy) were very friendly and helpful. This hotel has a soul. Room is spacious and clean. Efficient air conditioning.
Review 27:Very nice and colorful hotel with friendly staff at the margin of the historical center. Our family room was very big and delicious with a curved walls and 3 windows on the street. Receptionist spontaneosuly recommended free parking areas.
Review 28:No complaints really but note there is no lift. Staircase is a bit shabby but adds to the authentic feel of the place.
Review 29:Stayed in 310, the family room. Has two bedrooms and a bathroom. Really nice room, clean and well laid out with A/C too. Staff were really lovely and breakfast was breads, croissants and cereals - fresh and filling. Overall fantastic value for money.
Review 30:Great location. Great value. Comfortable bed. Perfect stop off on our journey to the south.
Review 31:Perfect location close to restaurants and cafes. Nice and quiet and a lovely big bed.
Review 32:We used this hotel for a stop-over on a trip to the South. We were stunned with the staff's performance and flexibility, the brilliant breakfast and the general atmosphere of the hotel! For sure a recommendation; a stop-over like this blows any highway hotel out of the water...
Review 33:No elevator. Luckily we had a very light suitcase this time.We cannnot recommand this hotel to elderly people nor to handicapped persons.
Review 34:The beautiful bedroom, painting, linen, furniture etc. The moderne and clean bathroom. The cosy dining room. Receptionnists are very kind. We are charged at the departure which is rare now. I feel that they trust us.
Review 35:I LIKE OLD HOTELS EVEN THOUGH THEY MAY NOT HAVE ALL THE COMFORTS YOU FIND IN NEWER ONES. THIS ONE HAD A LOT OF CHARME AND WAS PERFECTLY LOCATED IN BEAUTIFUL TROYES.
Review 36:Nothing particularly. It is a very traditional French 'old-style' hotel, but we found it adds to it's charm. Our third stopover here.
Review 37:Good location for parking/wining & dining.
Review 38:Simple but excellent value for money. Air conditioning welcomed as very hot in Troyes during or stay. Free parking nearby and able to park outside hotel to unload.
Review 39:Nothing!
Review 40:Hotel was very easy to find and the room was huge with unique features. Love that "la salle de bains" looked like part of the wall. The staff were lovely and air conditioning worked perfectly, even if it did have an intermittent hum.
Review 41:The price of the breakfast.
Review 42:Our second stay. Ideal accommodation close to old town. Clean and comfortable rooms . Public parking was available a short distance away. The quirky nature of the hotel fits in with the old buildings of the town, A tall thin traditional Troyes building with odd shaped rooms and a narrow spiral staircase which gives it its charm. Delightful patisserie next door.
Review 43:the public areas (staircase in particular) were a bit grubby and v run down but room and bathroom fine
Review 44:nice size room and aircon bathroom clean and ok
Review 45:Location - close to centre of the town, bed very comfortable, air conditioning in room on very hot night. Breakfast good selection and tasty. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Review 46:Be aware no lift - my case was fat too heavy.
Review 47:Balcony room. On the edge to the old town but still in quiet area. Basic but good - clean, comfy, friendly, affordable. A lovely old air of faded glamour.
Review 48:They hotel is directly opposite a bar which seemed to be a biker bar. The bikers were outside revving the engines and showing off their bikes. These were no ordinary bikes and sounded like aeroplanes. This is not an exaggeration. They didn't leave until 3/4 am and we hardly slept a wink. I don't know if this is a one off or a regular occurrence.
Review 49:City centre position.
Review 50:The bathroom had a bit of a funny smell that we were able to fix by opening the windows to air it out. It was strange that we we told not to enter or exit the hotel through what appeared to be the main lobby entrance, though the door was not blocked off.
Review 51:We had a very spacious room (a triple, though we were just two) with high ceilings and a comfortable bed. We liked the location which was a 6 minute walk to the center square of Troyes nearby all the lovely half-timbered buildings. Good to have the outlets near each bedside table for charging phones. All in all it was a good value for the money.
Review 52:The receptionist was charming, and told us where to park for free (fyi: Ave. Pierre Brossolette, Pass. de l'Esplanade de Belgique). Cool, clean room. Very near to the old town, which is fascinating.
Review 53:We were in room 108 and wifi did not quite reach. Had to sit in corridor to get good signal
Review 54:Great value for money, large rooms and good continental breakfast. Short walk to old town and cathedral. Staff extremely helpful.
Review 55:The stairs were not a problem for us but an elderly person may have difficulty and should maybe request a room on the first floor.
Review 56:Great location, friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms with filling continental breakfast. I would definitely stay here again.
Review 57:breakfast did not have any salty cold cuts (ham, cheese) available (French breakfast with jams)
Review 58:cosy & calm room, excellent bed, good bathroom, very clean, friendly staff, very close to city center, easy paid parking available next to hotel
Review 59:Décor in bedroom!!!
Review 60:The Arlequin has charming staff and all the facilities we needed, wifi, tv, shower etc and all was very clean and worked well. The staff were excellent and the breakfast was delicious. The breakfast room had pleasant and fresh décor, but the room and shower room had ghastly décor. However we would still rate this as a very good place to stay as it is so near the centre, no problem with parking and all the facilities worked very well.
Review 61:I'm not sure how to describe the breakfast. There's a contradiction between beautiful setting, lovely service and a cold packed cheese, yoghurt and jams. However mind that it's only us being a family with huge food awareness. There is an option not to choose the breakfast for 8EUR.
Review 62:Troyes is a beautiful town undervalued and even ignored by the Internet revues. We weren't there for outlet shopping, but came to see the old town which is so amazing! The hotel is right on the edge of the old town part with a lot of free parking 200m walk. The receptionist spoke English and was very helpful on our arrival. There wasn't a kettle in the room and we wanted to have a tea so the staff has kindly gave us a kettle to take to the room. Clean room, new bathroom and toilet although the building itself is old, which adds character. I don't understand why it's only 2 stars! Def will be back again!
Review 65:The bedroom door locks are very quirky/difficult to master; time to replace carpet in rooms.
Review 66:Central location, easy (payable) parking very close, bathroom recently replaced. Welcoming, friendly and helpful staff.
Review 67:First room I was given had no wifi access even though I had requested strong wifi. They seemed reluctant to move me but eventually did to a better room. Bit noisy from the street but nice enough room and very close to the centre of town. Plenty of street parking available close by.
Review 68:Being in the town centre we experienced some problems due largely to a circus occupying the lagest free car park in the town. Normally I would expect this would be less of a problem.
Review 69:Part of the old town centre. The moment you walk out of the door you are in the old town. Great restaurants and shops.Interesting buildings and architecture.
Review 70:The hotel was in a lovely location, walking distance to places to eat. The staff were really friendly and helpful. They recommended somewhere to eat and even booked a table for us.
Review 71:I couldn't get the free WiFi to work - could have been user error I suppose???? Not easy to park if arriving on Saturday evening as hotel is located in a popular part of town for eating out.
Review 72:Great staff. Delicious and generous breakfast. Good location, either for visiting the lovely town or as a stopover en route down the country.
Review 73:Stayed here on two occasions. The second room was much better than the first so a bit of a lottery. Annoying drip on the ceiling kept me awake. Good staff but gone after 9pm.
Review 74:Good location, near the old town and not too far from the station.
Review 75:Paid Parking limited maximum stay
Review 76:The staff were very helpful and freindly the room was clean and the bed very comfortable Wifi was good and hotel im a great location nexy to the centre of troyes easy walking distance Only slight drawback is paid parking is nearby but limited to length of stay
Review 77:Tea and coffee facilities in the room would be great but this is a small issue in an otherwise great little hotel.
Review 78:Location fantastic. A stones throw to city centre but on a quiet street. Staff were very friendly and tried to help us despite speaking little English (and us no French). Breakfast was continental for 8 euro and well worth it with a range of fruit, cheese, bread, cereal, yoghurt etc on hand. The room was nice with a comfortable bed and wifi was fast enough. Basically, this was a quaint little place that perfectly suited its location.
Review 79:The creaking floor and jamming door made it hard to be quiet when walking around.
Review 80:Clean, colourful and cosy room; Very nice breakfast with plenty of choices; Perfect location in the centre of the city; Public parking in the street free from 19:00 to 09:00.
Review 81:This place is right at the edge of the old town. A short walk brings you to great restaurants and medieval style buildings and churches. A great location.
Review 82:A group of young people were drunk and shouting and fighting all night! We couldn't sleep for one moment! Troyes is not a plesent place to walk on the street at the evening because of violent pepole. I'll never go back there, it was terrible.
Review 83:Nothing!!
Review 84:WIFi not reliable. Breakfast is pricy for what you get.
Review 85:Big comfy rooms. Excellent location. Very Close to town center and a short walking distance from the train station. Friendly staff. Very clean.
Review 86:As has been mentioned before, there are a lot of stairs which are narrow and winding so not suitable for the less able. Breakfast was very expensive for what it was, very basic and not worth 8 + euros
Review 87:Located very close to the centre of Troyes, five minutes stroll to reach a variety of restuarants and bars. Rooms are comfortable if a little dated, however, the linen was spotless and the bed very comfortable. Do not expect luxury at this price but the L'Arlequin is a typical french "no frills" hotel
Review 88:There was nothing I disliked. Some people might prefer a lift to stairs, we were on the third floor. But even the staircase was lovely so it didn't matter to me.
Review 89:A very large room with a large double and single. Nice furniture, not at all corporate. Good bathroom and breakfast plentiful and unhurried. Staff very friendly and helpful and stored our bikes. Excellent hotel.
Review 90:The hotel is in the town centre but is also very quiet. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Breakfast for 8€ was basic but fine. We would definitely go back.
Review 91:A quirky, very French feel to this friendly hotel in the old town. Nothing was too much trouble. Great breakfast - really warm welcome and good service.
Review 92:Being a townhouse on the edge of the medieval town centre, car parking is availablewithin 100 metres but on the meter. Meter parking is free between 7pm and 9am. 1.20 euros will be you a couple of hours parking so cheap as chips.
Review 93:Traditional French townhouse hotel with tall ceilings and windows, individual decor reflecting the individual flair of this family owned hotel. Owner and staff very friendly and accommodating.
Review 94:Room was small and outdated; very noisy throughout the night with outside noise and it felt like people walking past the room were inside the room! Door very hard to close, lock and open - could do with some maintenance.
Review 95:Great location in town centre with free parking nearby; clean, nice toiletries; key to front door for 24 hour entry
Review 96:Quaint old hotel, literally on the edge of the old town centre. Close to many restaurants and attractions. Easy access within the town, ample street parking.
Review 97:Breakfast was rather poor for 8.30 euros. Beware of visiting Troyes on aSunday, the town is closed except the bars and restuarants.
Review 98:Centrally located within easy walking distance of Troyes Centre. We havestayed at the L'Alequin three times now and each time it has met ourexpectations. True, there is no lift and the stairs are quite narrow andsteep but this is France and it is what you expect. The room was cleanand the bedding clean and fresh with a comfortable mattress. Bathroomwas modern and clean. Air conditioning worked well and for the price wewere very satisfied with everything
Review 99:close to outlet shopping malls 2 min walking distance from shops and restaurants great value for money friendly staff authentic Frenche atmosphere
Review 100:Shower wasn't the best, but still adequate
Review 101:Great reception from the owner, interesting rooms, brilliant breakfast, central location ti historical streets of Troyes, close to parking (albeit slightly awkward paying times)
Review 102:No lift (this is stated but third floor quite a hike) No kettle
Review 103:Large room for 3 Pleasant, clean bathroom Proximity of car park (free from 6pm until 9am) Proximity to town centre (easy walking distance) Comfortable, clean beds Quiet
Review 104:Not a particularly friendly reception after a long drive, I think it may have been the daughter who was watching TV and not of an age to understand that customer service is important.
Review 105:The location was good for a pleasant walk into town. Large room with plenty of space for four. Very clean. Able to park a large vehicle just across the street. Troyes is lovely.
Review 106:Poor lighting in bedroom.
Review 107:Excellent breakfast, delicious croissants and bread and good coffee. Reception staff kind and supportive. Just 10 minutes to cathedral. Due to such a good walking location to city centre nearest car park 5 minutes walk away behind the station so a compromising attitude required. Would stay there again.
Review 108:Initially I had book a triple room but with notice I changed to a double. The young receptionist present on the 18th August didn't have that information. She was very rude when I told her I wanted a double as it was on my final booking. She was arguing with me saying I was wrong before checking on the system. At the end I was right and she didn't apologise for the misunderstanding.
Review 109:Simple, clean and spacious room. Right in the heart of the city.
Review 110:No lift so not great if you struggle with stairs, better options for breakfast at nearby cafes
Review 111:Staff were friendly and welcoming, rooms (one double, one triple) were a good size and decent value, parking across the road no problem (free overnight), easy walk into the old town.
Review 112:The rooms and reception are basic and in need of updating.
Review 113:We stayed in a family room which was simple but clean and comfortable. This is a no frills hotel but definitely good value. It is right on the edge of the town so a good location.
Review 114:Large interconnecting rooms, all different rather than corporate. Breakfast was good, too. Great location for strolling around Troyes centre - the second time we've stopped over here on our way to southern France. Will be back.
Review 115:Nothing negative
Review 116:Fantastic location in Troyes and a lovely family run feel to this very comfortable hotel. Very friendly staff and good breakfast. Cheap parking available just around the corner (3 euro for the night) Would highly recommend this hotel.
Review 117:Nothing, would recommend this hotel.
Review 118:The hotel is lovely, the owner was very hospitable, and took the time to make us welcome. Family room was huge, and on suite was very clean. Breakfast was great, and served in such a way as to feel like it was all home made.
Review 119:We didn't like leaving.
Review 120:Just the best place to stay. In the middle of the older part of Troyes with a walk to everything restaurants , facilities and shopping. A beautiful breakfast is served if you wish. Wished we had stayed for a week.
Review 121:The pictures of the rooms on the website do not do it justice!
Review 122:Beautiful room with huge window and wooden floor. The bed was confortable. The lady who recieved us was delightful and gave us all we needed in under a minute.
Review 123:There was a young woman at the front desk who acted extremely bored and imposed upon when we checked in and looked at us as though we were idiots when we asked about the internet! The entire morning staff were efficient and welcoming.
Review 124:This hotel occupies a very old & interesting building so if you like to stay in a place with character, this is it!
Review 125:No parking
Review 126:Lived this place and hope to return in the future. Troyes is a great place to visit and the hotel is a perfect location to walk around and enjoy so much.
Review 127:We had a car and because there is no hotel parking we had to park down the street. This wouldn't be too bad for singles/couples without kids, but was a little hard for us with 3 small kids and luggage to take up. Also no lift which similarly is a bit harder with young kids and luggage but not too bad - especially if you were staying for a few nights. Overall though the character and location made up for these downsides.
Review 128:Location was fantastic - really central and in amongst a the really character-full buildings. The hotel itself has a wonderful character. Our top floor room had cute old-style windows looking out at the street.
