Reviews for Elafonisos Mare

Review 1:We paid 160 euro per night for two people including breakfast 1. No bar/pool bar or any kind of service after the breakfast. This made it impossible for us to hang out in the pool and gave the impression that we are on rooms to lent not a expensive hotel 2. The owner was rude to his employees. Bosing around with a snobish behaviour. He did not welcome us nor spoke to us upon the check in and check out (even though he was standing next to us) 3. The pool is not properly cleaned. Dead bees and sand were there during the three days we stayed. 4.The breakfast was awful. Cheap/low quality food and no variety at all. That was a great suprise given the nightly cost 5. The bathroom has an bad smell. We had to close the door and open the windows to avoid it 6. The Jacuzzi was not available and gave me the impression that is never used even though it's stated in the hotel amenities 7. The room had stains on the walls and in the power sockets. Not properly cleaned (probably because the hotel is under-staffed in order to increase the profits)

Review 2:The view is excellent

Review 3:Didn't like the general attitude of staff and the owner in particular who makes some of his customers feel uncomfortable and unwelcome; the owner treats his own staff with disrespect which his customers do not appreciate at all, probably the staff is underpaid for the things they do

Review 4:Location, seaview

Review 5:Breakfast is very minimal and the hotel management could be friendlier. The rest of the staff was extremely nice.

Review 6:The rooms are nice and there is a great view.

Review 7:The owner of this hotel. He's an arrogant peasant that treats his personnel, which are all immigrants, like they're not humans. That was very annoying.

Review 8:The room was spacious and with nice view.

Review 9:Worst breakfast ever due to Extremely limited variety. No room service. No phone in room to contact reception even for an extra towel. Staff and management were preoccupied with themselves and their friends than the customers of the hotels.

Review 10:Nice new big room with sea view. Breakfast area was nice outdoor with beautiful view.

Review 11:There wasn't any time we didn't like we regret that we couldn't stay longer

Review 12:Tranquil surroundings relaxing personalised friendly and accommodating service beautiful decor in suite. Excellent views

Review 13:Elafonissos Mare is a perfect combination between elegance and simple Greek atmosphere. I definitely suggest such resort for a relaxing and comfortable holiday

Review 14:This is the second time round we are visiting Elafonisos Mare travelling all the way from London to the south part of Peloponese. The location of the hotel is conveniently situated near all the restaurants and shops but it is also secluded and offers a very relaxing and peaceful stay at all times away from the noise of the centre. The sunset from every spot within the premises is truly captivating and unforgettable. The hotel has a lovely pool with a nicely arranged sitting area around it.The room we had both times was a very spacious split level family room that has an amazing balcony. The wifi works great and that was really handy as we needed to catch up with emails etc and never had an issue with the connection. One of the things that have improved dramatically since our first visit was the breakfast which now consists of lovely scrambled eggs (or you can even ask for fried eggs the lovely lady that cooks), freshly baked croissants, bread, cereals, fresh fruits, cakes and a selection of cheese and ham.The service is of an excellent standard and everyone made the best to make us feel like a VIP and enjoy the most of our staying there. Especially the manager of the hotel Mr Babis Aronis was amazing and knows exactly how to treat the customers of the hotel so that they have everything they need. He was incredibly polite, smiley and proactive and made sure that we had everything we needed. He also recommended the best places to eat, booked us seize longs for the Simos beach and was great with our son as well. We have travelled a lot around the world and we know how to spot a great hotel but most importantly how to understand an excellent level of services and this place definitely deserved an excellent review! The island has the most amazing beach (Simos) that can only be compared to the Caribean so to have a great hotel to stay as well is a blessing! A little heaven on Earth!

Review 15:During my arriving nobody was in reception and never been informed from the staff about hotel facilities (eg for breakfast, use of pool etc). Very expensive. It is not value for money.

Review 16:Cockerels waking me up. Aircon was underpowered so room was too hot. Exposed wiring in the room. No information booklet in room. When I went to pay they had already charged my card.

Review 17:Pool and pool area.

Review 18:Management & Staff very helpful, accommodatiing and friendly. Good breakfast and a superb view. Easy access to the town having numerous restaurants and supermarkets. Highly recomendable.

Review 19:You couldn't buy a beer or something to drink, that's a pity. The rooms were nicely furnished but not so practically designed. We didn't have a rubbish bin, nowhere to put small things (like drawers).

Review 20:Nice balcony with a very nice view! Close to the tavernas in the village of Elafonnisos, easy to walk there. The staff was kind and helpful.

Review 21:Poor breakfast considering price of the room, plastic outdoor pool, quite expensive for the services and facilities provided!

Review 22:Very nice view, new and elegant pool furniture. Very good housekeeping service!

Review 23:The location is ideal and the rooms are very comfortable. The owner and the staff are very hospitable and very friendly. We highly recommend it and will definitely come back. Overall, good value for money.

Review 24:Nothing to dislike everything was excellent!

Review 33:Nice design

Review 34:The location is ideal, fantastic views from the rooms and the breakfast area. Within walking distance to the town/port The owner has hands on is very hospitable and accommodating. We highly recommend it and will definately come back to enjoy the unique sandy beach and the crystal turquoise waters of Simos beach which is only 5 minutes drive from the hotel Spyros-Spyridoula fish tavern in town..excellent food and should not be missed

Review 35:Wi-Fi was not working The breakfast area was really close to my room so I could hear people taking their breakfast.

Review 36:The hotel is very nice, small with a lot of charm. Very nice view on the sea with a swimming-pool and very quiet so perfect to relax. It was a very nice hotel, I would recommend to stay there.

Review 37:We were very disappointed with our "deluxe" room. Having been travelling around the Peleponnese and staying in some superb places, the Elefonisos Mare was, at €110, very expensive in comparison and below the standard we had expected. The bedroom was spacious, with a comfortable-looking bed, but there was little storage space. The balcony was in full sun, after mid-day, with no shade whatsoever. The bathroom was awful. Very small and (apparently) done in an ancient Mycenean style. This consisted of a brown stone trough with faux ancient taps, for a sink. The shower was also in a brown stone trough with mock "ancient" taps. It reminded us of a Troglodite dwelling!! The toilet was OK, but there was nowhere to put any of our toiletries. We found it hard to believe it was the "deluxe" we had booked and complained to the owner. He showed us to a suite, which would have been €180! We declined. He then showed us to a 2-storey maisonette which we negotiated for the same price we had paid. It was spacious and with good views, but climbing up and down the spiral staircase to the bedroom was inconvenient. The breakfast was very poor for a place charging €110. The juice tasted like the old powdered orange drink of years ago! There were no eggs and no toaster. Our previous apartment had cost €65 and the breakfast was a banquet with freshly squeezed juice and fruit, cooked eggs and bacon etc. The wasps made it impossible to sit outside and we had to retreat back to our room to eat.

Review 38:The view back over the incredibly turquoise sea to the mainland, and the sunsets.

Review 39:Ambience of the place, friendly and available ar any time staff, variety of breakfast choices, unforgetable experience, the only residence in Elafonisos worth spending quality holidays

Review 40:Breakfast

Review 41:Too many family couples with children.

Review 42:Small cosy hotel with friendly staff plus wonderful room that we got (a2).
