Reviews for Moss Grove Organic
Review 1:Not sure about the glass "door" to the bathroom which didn't fully fit the opening!!
Review 2:Very nicely decorated and excellently located in the centre of Grasmere. We had an executive double room which was very large and had a seating area as well as an extremely large ensuite bathroom. Excellent choice of DVD's to borrow if you wished which was a nice touch.
Review 3:Only dining one table in the lounge, 11 rooms, = 22 guests, one 8 seater dining table in the lounge. A couple of small tables available, people had to eat breakfast on their knee. This not acceptable. Another dining table ior more tables required.
Review 4:Excellent central location, comfortable clean rooms.
Review 5:Nothing
Review 6:Fabulous hotel, comfortable spacious bedroom and bathroom. The organic breakfast was perfect for long days on the hills even without full English breakfast as an option. Hugely diverse top quality choice of food, with homemade breads. May not be everyone's cup of tea but it beats any other hotel breakfast we've had. Relaxed lounge very comfortable.
Review 7:The occupants of the room below sounded like they were having a rave all night... Plus the rooms were very warm
Review 8:Nice big bed, also the room was very spacious
Review 9:Very small bathroom and bedroom even though it was a superior room.
Review 10:The breakfast was lovely and thoughtful. Nice room to relax in whilst eating. Friendly manager.
Review 11:An amazing getaway for a couple! Splendid facilities and service for those discerning types who have environmental issues at heart. Comfortable and relaxing (spa bath in all rooms!), what more could you ask for but the beautiful village of Grasmere and stunning lake land views seeped in romance? Fab organic breakfasts..yum!
Review 12:The staff and hotel were excellent. Very different from regular hotels that I have stayed in with a help yourself organic breakfast. Loved it!! We will stay again!!!!
Review 13:Was a little hot on the top floor even with all radiators turned off - Would have just opened a window if the fire escape didn't run right up to it. Other than that, no complaints, beautiful and well kept property I would still recommend .
Review 14:Perfect location and loved the cosy, homely atmosphere.
Review 15:Parking was diffficult because of limited space - but other than that everything was fabulous
Review 16:Excellent breakfast - very different experience due to the Mediterranean slant -would visit again and recommend. Lovely bedroom with huge bed, well apointed spacious bathroom - with heated floor
Review 17:superior room ? in attic ,awkward low sealing and im only 5'8, paint work shabby all over ,scuff marks everywhere, needs decorating, going up the stairs is so unwelcoming too. bed lumpy mattress. This hotel had the charm of a b and b trying too hard without the effort ,has been graded high because of being organic? Not sure . breakfast okay ,good variety of mishmash food types, but breakfast room bit quiet ,random seating uncomfy and having to clear your own plates from breakfast is a big no no .Poor ! 5 star not !
Review 18:nice bathroom
Review 19:I didn't like the fact we were woken up by a barking dog in next room and a crying baby in the room above. I know this can't be managed by the hotel, however we had paid a higher price for some luxury and a peaceful night :(
Review 20:The location of the hotel is excellent. I liked the idea of helping yourself to breakfast and there was a lovely selection of organic foods.
Review 21:Room was noisy, being close to the lobby / reception area & cafe next to the rear courtyard limited the time to relax in the hot tub.
Review 22:Clean,comfortable & spacious room. Good choice of organic food for breakfast.
Review 23:We had booked the suite, the room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub, and the little patio where we would have breakfast in the mornings. The hotel breakfasts were lovely. Hotel was close to restaurants coffee shops and walking routes. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Review 24:The breakfast experience involves either eating off trays on your knee or stooping over low-level coffee tables in the lounge area as there is only one dining table. This isn't a major issue but worth noting if you have mobility issues or prefer to eat seated at a table.
Review 25:Excellent location right in the heart of Grasmere with off-road parking; comfy beds; luxurious bathrooms; and every need catered for. The spa bath in particular is well-worth booking for - the perfect way to unwind after a busy day in the Lakes.
Review 26:THIS IS NOT A HOTEL - ITS A B&B staff, whilst not overtly rude, didn't seem to want us there Advertised as a hotel, but no bar or hotel facilities
Review 27:Location
Review 28:On arrival the man greeting us seemed rushed and disinterested - We felt we were an inconvenience. Not a good 'front of house' person. Some low level music in the dining room/lounge would give this place a more warm and welcoming feeling. Better if staff were there til 10 rather than 9
Review 29:Excellent location in the village Great room & comfy bed. (Superior room) Fab spa bath Stylish and clean overall Breakfast, nice easy going style
Review 30:The spa bath was clean until switched on where upon it filled with all sorts of dirt, debris and hair which was not very pleasant at all and put a dampner on the night away.
Review 31:Location is really good. Grasmere is absolutely fantastic. Breakfast was nice. Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 32:The bed was rock hard and neither of us slept well. I was awake six times as I kept trying to find a comfy place.
Review 33:The room was beautiful, big and well furnished. The bathroom was amazing. The breakfast was the best I've ever had at any hotel and the staff were wonderful. Very clean.
Review 34:We enjoyed everything about our stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean, well decorated, quiet and comfortable room, with nice bed linen, tasty breakfast in a great location. A very relaxing stay.
Review 35:Great location, nice breakfast could imagine the room to eat in could get busy in peak season. Pillows too soft, Bose stereo didn't work very well for the radio. Lovely place but slightly overpriced as you have to serve yourself for breakfast more like a luxury b & b than a hotel.
Review 36:There were 2 guys running the show one was jolly the other could have seemed a little more pleased to see paying guests to be honest. The terrace with the hot tub needs better screening up for privacy from the chefs in the adjacent hotel. Basically the can see you in the hot tub as they pass by which is often. This would be an inexpensive development and really would improve the hot tub experience! :-)
Review 37:The room was excellent!! The breakfast was awesome!! The location is second to none!!
Review 38:Did not like having to go into the kitchen to get my breakfast and then having to clear up after ourselves.
Review 39:Excellent location in centre of village, good breakfast.
Review 40:Arrived after 21H00 Had to call a mobile several times to check in Nothing to eat in the village after 21H00 had to go to Ambleside and only just found one restaurant a 21H55 sill open. Hotel is clean and well presented, but beds are really uncomfortable, and limited furnishing in the room. Not enough parking spaces If you are going walking every day, eat early and go bed early and don't suffer form a bad back you'll probably enjoy it. If not you wont. No sense of service !
Review 41:Breakfast was good, although inconvenient, not enough chairs/tables in living room.
Review 42:The beds are made of granite, sufferred 2 nights then had to cut our stay short, a real shame. Breakfast a bit odd, one large communal dining table unless you want to sit side saddle in the lounge area. A bar facility would be nice and no evening meal available
Review 43:Fabulous location, great hotel and really helpful staff
Review 44:Luxurious and Eco-friendly! The food was organic and nearly always locally sourced - with plenty of variety and always delicious. Accommodation was high quality, well appointed and very comfortable. Staff were friendly, helpful and very accommodating!
Review 45:It's just a shame about the restrictive parking spaces. Although the large slate rocks outside look good. They can add to what's already very tight parking sometimes.
Review 46:Fantastic place, large comfy beds, very friendly staff. This is our 4th time at Moss Grove and we envisage many more visits.
Review 47:Small car park
Review 48:Rooms, beds, breakfasts. We liked the "hands-off " low key approach to staffing - not everyone's preference but perfect for us.
Review 49:I didn't enjoy the breakfast. There was an excellent choice of food available but I prefer a more formal style setting with cooked breakfast served in a dining room.
Review 50:Car parking tricky but that's to be expected in centre of this village.
Review 51:No hotel stuffiness Friendly staff Fantastic location Clean Personal attention - we asked for breakfast early and were really happy with the outcome. Access to lovely kitchen for tea and snacks and DVD collections
Review 52:No bad experience, the Bose system only works with IPhone 4 and below & I was a little disappointed with this as I have 4s so couldn't use it. Jets in the hot tub weren't very powerful.
Review 53:Spa bath, dressing gowns & slippers, breakfast, lovely & spacious room, I really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.
Review 54:Not a massive fan of the self serve breakfast in the kitchen. Think it'd be better to select your brekkie in the main lounge. Maybe offer an alternative breakfast service to the rooms at an additional charge
Review 55:Rooms are fabulous and the location is central to Grasmere
Review 56:The spa bath had dirty, yellowy splodges on so we didn't use it and the two tvs were rubbish! Poor channel selection considering it's satellite (literally a handful of channels, 10 or so) and the picture quality was terrible!
Review 57:The room was fantastic! We stayed in room 2, which was the one with the lounge, patio garden and hot tub! Lovely spacious rooms with all that you could need. The bed was amazing, and wider than I am tall. The staff were lovely, giving us a tour on arrival and showing us how to work everything.
Review 58:Beds were not comfortable.
Review 59:Spacious and bright rooms,a wide array of breakfast options, lovely nearby dining options, everything within walking distance.
Review 60:The customer service apeard poor seemed very rushed, got the impression he wasn't very welcoming, breakfast was poor nice bread tho .
Review 61:Was here for our 2 year anniversary so chose the hot tub suite that made it really special was so relaxing and peaceful and romantic and the bed was amazing and comfy definitely on the look out for bedding and pillows like them! The surrounding area is really pretty and nice places to eat and drink , cute little shops too , had to buy a cuddly sheep or too they seem to be lakes mascot.
Review 62:Unfortunately my husband found the bed uncomfortable and was able to feel springs underneath him. I think the bathroom needed a few tweaks... nowhere to put tooth brushes, no shelf (other than above the loo... not great for contact lenses or anything that needs to remain super hygienic). Lack of hooks and places to put toiletries in bathroom.
Review 63:Breakfast buffet set up to allow you to take it back to bed was excellent!
Review 64:The car park could only fit 6 cars, for 2 nights I had to park at a nearby hotel with the risk of being clamped....also, you could hear the neighbours in the room below very clearly, drunken arguments and very loud surround sound til late
Review 65:The views and surroundings in grasmere are amazing, very peaceful little village
Review 66:As a couple in our 70's, found the quirky poster bed, although comfortable, somewhat high off the ground........ Very poor Continental Breakfast. Small, totally inadequate serving area that gets chaotic with more than two or three guests. For such a highly priced B&B this is not value for money. And although we enjoyed our stay there. Would not do so again. . .
Review 67:Great Location in Village. Great room overlooking the village square. Very clean and comfortable. Staff excellent. Most helpful and very friendly..
Review 68:It's not a ' bad' comment but it took us a little whilegetting used to having no bathroom door- just us and our ways I suppose! But not a complaint
Review 69:Everything! Lovely room, freedom to come and go whenever wewanted, fantastic organic breakfast which was served in a very informalmanner- very homely and welcoming.
Review 70:Parking families aren't adequate & it means being disturbed or disturbing someone else to get in or out. Breakfast wasn't the best
Review 71:Room was superb, large comfortable & modern. Hot tub was relaxing
Review 72:The owners have certainly pulled out all the stops to give you a truly organic experience here ! Stayed for 1 night in Room 2 with outside Hot Tub - Great touch with Organic Toiletrues in bathroom, King Size Bed with natural cotton bedding and great pillows! Bose music system. Hotel in situated in the centre of Grasmere and to the left of hotel is Green's Grasmere (Veggie) Restaurant although it was closed on Sunday to our disappointment but right of the hotel and a lovely short walk is The Jumble Room Restaurant. (Hotel made the reservation for us). Really friendly staff and organic breakfast was delicious with lots of choice. Will definately be returning !!!!
Review 73:The en-suit door was a bit ropey - It didn't fill the space of the doorframe and creaked loudly.
Review 74:The location was spot on, the staff were both friendly and useful, the room was clean and comfortable with a great view.
Review 75:Loved the comfortable spacious room, and dining/living area. The organic toiletries, and the organic buffet breakfast that was a change from the usual english breakfast.
Review 76:No bad experiences, but very uncomfortable to sit up in bed (more pillows) Please can we have grab handles in the showers (this a general complaint from a 75-year old)
Review 77:Breakfast, ambience.
Review 78:Would have liked more privacy In the bathroom.i:e a closed bathroom door. Also the wooden slated window blinds were a problem.
Review 79:Relaxed friendly atmosphere Staff very helpful Very comfortable stay.
Review 80:Bed was awful wouldn't expect that from a 5⭐️hotel, one thing is if I go to the toilet I don't want my partner watching me take a dump. No door on the bathroom which was a little odd. Needs a bit of tidying up ie painting and carpets. Car parking was a little tight
Review 81:Hotel is lovey nice big room bathroom was lovely. Must say good choice for breakfast and a nice place to sit and eat.
Review 82:Parking can be problematic in the small area available --get in early and it's no problem!
Review 83:This is an excellent small hotel in the beautiful village of Grasmere It is centrally located ,well appointed and has friendly helpful staff We were en route back home after visiting family in London , a stop in Grasmere is always welcome and none better than at Moss Grove
Review 84:Facilities very poor. Marks on carpets. Cracked tiles in bathroom. Staff generally ok. Breakfast very average. Organic hotels ? DefinItaly not the future. Certainly won't be going back.
Review 85:Location, rooms spacious & tidy.
Review 86:Nothing really
Review 87:Front room with balcony. Very confortable although the access to the 4 poster bed was a challenge. Small steps would help. Great breakfast buffet. We also loved the toiletries and bought some for home.
Review 88:we loved the beautifully decorated and furnished rooms, the large bathroom, the walk-in wardrobe. The friendly staff and the unstuffiness of it all. Definitely stay again.
Review 89:Sat nav takes you to a garden centre nearby! Bed although huge was super firm, not what we are used to but got used to it in the end
Review 90:From welcome to leaving we were looked after by friendly staff in a luvly hotel, buffet breakfast plentiful, can recommend the sausages!
Review 91:Some ceilings and doorways are rather low. Also (not the hotel's fault) the many, excellent restaurants available within easy walking distance can get full at busy times, so it is advisable to book in advance.
Review 92:Located centrally in the village. Lovely walks possible without the use of transport. Large, comfortable bedroom. High quality, largely ecologically-friendly furnishings and fittings. Excellent breakfast. A relaxed atmosphere and charming, accommodating staff,
Review 93:Only one niggle. Parking very tight. Would benefit from removing the huge slate stones to create more access on & off the parking area. That said. The staff are excellent as they allow you to leave your car parked there even after you've checked out so you can have one last bimble around Grasmere.
Review 94:Location, size & comfort of beds, breakfast, friendly staff, noise levels.
Review 95:At the price charged ave £170 per night no internet connection is poor. Bit sterile at breakfast perhaps a radio on would of helped
Review 96:Great location , friendly relaxed staff allowed to drink your own wine in the public lounge even though they sell it
Review 97:Everything was fine - no complaints
Review 98:Good size room with a fabulous bed - big and quirky and made out of old timbers, but stylish and very comfortable too. Slightly retro contemporary styling. Quiet and relaxed, made to feel very welcome, staff helpful. Breakfast - good selection of organic foods. Modern spacious bathroom with a fully functioning spa bath. Oh and a Bose sound system too and the wi-fi was reliable. And of course it's right in the middle of Grasmere. Restaurants and shops near at hand and walk on to the fells from the door. Very nice place to stay.
Review 99:The only complaint I would have and it isn't really a complaint is that the bed was a bit hard for my liking so was quite achy in the morning. I enjoyed breakfast and the 'help yourself from the kitchen' approach although my husband wasn't that carried away with what he had.
Review 100:The room was lovely and spacious and had a very generous bathroom with spa bath which was great! The place hotel itself is done really well with nice decor throughout.
Review 101:The only thing which was off putting was the man who checked us in wasn't friendly at all thought maybe he was having a bad day but then again at breakfast same again which was a shame because it lets the hotel down maybe he's in the wrong job
Review 102:Loved the room and breakfast I would defo come back and stay again only stayed for 1 night wish we had stayed for 2 night beautiful set up they have beautiful place
Review 103:Location is perfect, room was nice and spacious with solid wood furniture, bathroom with spa bath, underfloor heating, free toiletries, breakfast with lots of choices. We had perfect relaxing stay. Definitely will come back again.
Review 104:No bad experience.
Review 105:Situation of hotel was excellent for exploring Grassmere coffee shops, restaurants and surrounding countryside. Comfortable bed and clean bathroom with organic features, breakfast food and toiletries an added bonus!
Review 106:Mattress a little firm for our liking & could have done with a couple more pillows.
Review 107:Extremely friendly, comfortable stay. Jacuzzi bath & giant bed great fun & elicited much laughter. Excellent breakfast spread, much more than anticipated. Everything you need for a lovely evening dinner right outside the door. Would definitely go back.
Review 108:Parking was difficult as not enough spaces but we all managed and you just double park and write your registration and room number in the guest book
Review 109:After making our booking some of the reviews were off putting but honestly this is a excellent B&B with nice staff and lovely rooms. We had the suite with private hot tub which was out of this world. Very clean and modern with a very tasty breakfast
Review 110:I rang to book the champagne truffles and rose petals and they were not there when I walked into the room with my girlfriend!
Review 111:Breakfast was amazing- very organic and lots of! Spa bath was excellent, Staff very helpful- even booked us a table at a busy restaurant.
Review 112:it did get a bit crowded in the kitchen area during the breakfast rush.
Review 113:We were greeted with a warm welcome and our room was spotless. The breakfast was really tasty and all fresh produce, which was very tasty.
Review 114:It was an amazing room in the best location! The cleanliness and attention to detail was amazing. The bed was so soft you felt like you could melt into it. Underfloor heating, spa bath and we had our own hot tub were the real cherry on top. Food was prepared for breakfast with care and attention to detail with home made choices and organic organic organic! Lovely vilaage and very friendly all round. Without hestitation I would recommend this as a place to stay
Review 115:Breakfast wasn't full English not my type. Could of cleaned around bit better and could do with a touch of fresh paint
Review 116:Hot tub was amazing not best views (buildings) nice suit bit of paint in the bath made it look dirty but was still extremely nice. I would definitely recommend highly.
Review 117:Because we took our pooch we did not have a room choice we had the room which is on the ground floor next to the main door. In the summer I can imagine it being a very noisy room as guests come and go at all hours but at this time of year it was not too bad.
Review 118:This hotel is in a brilliant position to be able to take advantage of the wonderful scenery and the many walks. The room was very large with coffee & tea making facilities, tv with dvd player and a selection of dvd's to borrow a separate shower & a spa bath. Grasmere is a lovely picturesque village with not only plenty of walks around it and a Lake, there are also plenty of shops to mooch in and plenty of places to eat and drink. We love Grasmere it is near to Keswick, Ambleside and Windermere. There is also a regular bus. The breakfast is lovely and a great choice of foods.
Review 119:Other than the cheap mattress witch in turn caused us to have a uncomfortable nights sleep. Very disappointed too say it's a 5star
Review 120:Had the perfect stay. Beautiful in every aspect.
Review 121:I didn't like the reception it was rather grubby and the staff weren't very smartly dressed and the fact that we could see dirty laundrey
Review 122:I liked the room although I really thought it could have done with freshening up with paint and we found rubbish under our bed
Review 123:It's an odd one, but the bathroom door was a pane of frosted glass with a large gap around the edges. Didn't offer much privacy while someone is using the bathroom.
Review 124:Hotel and location was fantastic. Very welcoming, clean and warm.
Review 125:From the start of the weekend until the end. The staff and facilities were excellent. A relaxing weekend walking and chilling was what we both wanted and that's what we had. We will defiantly be going back.
Review 126:Nothing. We'd read some reviews of people who weren't happy with the breakfast but we really liked it and there was plenty of it!
Review 127:We really enjoyed our stay at Moss Grove Organic. It's a really charming place and has a bit of individuality that other, bigger hotels in Grasmere lack in my opinion. Staff were friendly and accommodating and the room was gorgeous, we both slept so soundly in the hugely comfortable bed! I will definitely be back but for longer next time.
Review 128:Couldn`t fault it. Loved the large choice of the buffet breakfast. The rooms were clean with furniture made from reclaimed wood. Very clean. Friendly staff.
Review 129:Only one tv. Need more cushions on sofa. Maybe an extra chair. A reading lamp needed.
Review 130:Lodge layout in general. Welcome package. Modern, clean. Nice toiletries and towels.
Review 131:Lack of basic cleanliness, stressed staff at breakfast, very hot public areas, place needed a good lick of paint and the stair carpets a good clean
Review 132:Generous sized rooms and alternative breakfast.
Review 133:Not full length spa bath in this room so couldn't stretch out but still great. Pillows incredibly soft so flatten on contact.
Review 134:Rm 7 Spa bath, separate shower, bed comfy, quiet at back of hotel, breakfast----good for vegetarians too, locality right in centre of Grasmere.
Review 135:No issues with this hotel.
Review 136:Excellent Breakfast, very varied. Parking available, central location. Good sized bedroom and large bathroom with a nice spa bath, which proved to be useful after the long walks. Very relaxing environment Free WiFi a bonus
