Reviews for Bull Hotel
Review 1:Had to move room after first night due to noise. Minimum storage place, ok if you are only staying for one night, not ok if staying for three nights or more
Review 2:location was very good
Review 3:I had a very disturbing smell of "fryed" food in my room.
Review 4:Very central location, staff very professionnal and helpfull. The room was very confortable and the bathroom was clean and well sized. Restaurant was also very good, with good wine.
Review 5:Wifi didn't work in my room and staff were not willing to try and resolve this. The room as booked was not an executive double room which I had paid for.
Review 6:Nothing
Review 7:There was a party going on in the hotel(Christmas time!) and it finished late plus some noisy party revellers at about 01:30 - 02:00. Then early morning traffic and hotel deliveries.
Review 8:The room we had was very small and noisy outside. The bin men emptied the bottle bins several times in the early hours which was not nice.
Review 9:We love the hotel and the location
Review 10:Despite thé hôtels central location in a busy shopping street and well used bar and restaurants thé room was very quiet and I was able to enjoy a good nights sleep. About ten minute walk from both rail and bus stations, and right across thé street from thé Westgate shopping centre. Plenty choices for breakfast served by numerous attentive and very youthful staff.
Review 11:No draught bitter. May not of booked if I had known. Was told the two hand pumps had been off for some time. Also, the restaurant had shoulder of lamb on menu. Received two lamb burgers & a small amount of potato for £18??
Review 12:Clean & comfortable..
Review 13:Breakfast too busy with queues and no bacon available. Promised bacon never served. Tea and toast was forgotten. Table was cleared when we went to queue for breakfast! Had to start again!
Review 14:Lovely room.
Review 15:We had room (No 193) at the front with no double glazing + noisy revellers on a Saturday night is not a good combination!
Review 16:Great location for town & large free car park
Review 17:Nothig
Review 18:The lady on reception during our stay, was excellent. She was helpful courteous and welcomed us in such a friendly manner. I didn't get her name but she was fabulous. Thank you
Review 19:The parking was terrible couldn't find a car park space !! Don't understand why the barriers let you in when theres no spaces left!!
Review 20:The room was lovely and clean comfortable
Review 21:Room and bed were small and whilst expensive did not include breakfast. Breakfast was buffet style and lukewarm at a cost of £13.00. No free upgrade was offered despite them not being fully booked. This was not a 4* experience at £117.40 per night (inc breakfast)
Review 22:Great location
Review 23:Shannon on reception was amazing and helped me arrange a night for my partner of 9 years. We had a very nice stay and will be back for sure. Thank you to everyone who helped make the night special.
Review 24:All staff were helpful and friendly and the hotel is located just right for shopping .if I had to find a fault it was a little noisey on Saturday night but I did open myy window both my wife and I had a lovely stay.
Review 25:I arrived at 9.15 pm after a long journey went to the bar to find I only had 1 minute to order bar food as they closed at 9.30 And I was too late for the restaurant I ordered a sandwich which took 30 minutes to arrive the bread was dry and cost £6.50
Review 26:It was a lovely old building but facilities were modern
Review 27:Hotel was decorated for Christmas and had a warm friendly feel through-out. The Bar area is very comfortable and has a lovely atmosphere. Staff always there to help but not overbearing. No pretentiousness. Very near to shops.
Review 28:Uncomfortable bed and hard pillows made for an uncomfortable night's sleep. Car park amazingly hard to find: why not have a notice at the front of the hotel and directions on their website?
Review 29:The location. Excellent dinner in the restaurant.
Review 30:being a listed building, no lift and too many level changes with steps. Bar mot sufficiently staffed early evening to cope with both food and alcohol
Review 31:Pleasant and mainly helpful staff. Comfortable and spotless room.
Review 32:Everyone was having difficulty with the swipe entrance cards (as did we), the bathroom was dated - bath stained near the plug hole and water drained slowly. The marketing in the hotel cheapened a lovely building
Review 33:The staff were warm and welcoming. It's an elegant place with a festive feel. Room was a good size. Great to have secure parking. Perfect location
Review 34:The information provided to reach the hotel was poor. The car park though free is also let to others. Finding a suitable space difficult. Reception staff and waiting staff, so young and with little real interest in there work.
Review 35:The executive room was very good in general. The servicing was done well and promptly
Review 36:My only issue was that the hotel building was over heated and stifling.
Review 37:It's location was excellent. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful when needed. If I was in Peterborough again I'd stay here without thought.
Review 38:Room 286, road noise from revellers all night especially at 3am-5am horrendous easy a 24hr subway almost underneath. After 5am the road sweater. Sach windows that allow you hear everything going on at street level, we went home to have a sleep. Please ask for a back from street room as no sleep when you have paid good money for a room is in my book quite important, well very actually, your whole stay hinges on getting a good night sleep. Thought the room and hotel is very nice, just keep away from room 286 unless you have had a skin full, which we didn't.
Review 39:The bedroom was nice but could do with a mini bar or atleast complementary water
Review 40:Wall paper peeling off over wardrobe. Rust line from taps down bath to plug but worse was the nails under sink. I cut myself on that. Told reception at checkout and was told oh...ok...ill let housekeeping know....doubt we will come back to be honest
Review 41:Location and staff
Review 42:The bar had a sewerage smell about it which I've not come across before... The bed in our room seemed smaller than other rooms we had stayed in too
Review 43:Stayed here several times now and it has such a nice atmosphere and location is great for city centre.
Review 44:Long corridors to reach bedroom. No lift to any floor. No view apart from brick wall 1 meter away
Review 45:Excellent beds. As comfortable as at home. Room well furnished with comfortable chairs
Review 46:No mirror for hair drying, No case rack in room, no drawers, robes meant no room to hang clothes, poor wifi, overpriced. My room at front noisy at times. Poor attention to detail.
Review 47:Good central location, good sized room, helpful staff
Review 48:No lift to upper ground rooms Very noisy throughout the night due to ?laundry machinery or air conditioning unit outside our room. No view only onto the carpark
Review 49:Location and parking very good.Comfortable bed. Could do with a bit of a face lift
Review 50:I have arthritis and struggle with stairs, the lack of a lift caused pain
Review 51:The food was very good in the restaurant, but the long que to be served for breakfast was a little tiresome
Review 52:PARKING IS NOT FREE. Went to leave in the morning to find I needed to pay £6 for parking, didn't have any coins on me so I queried in the hotel, only to be told that parking is indeed not free (definitely says it is on here?!) and that we needed to pay. When I replied with "the website says parking is free" was met with a response of "I'm sure it did". Then had to mess around at 10am finding an open shop to change a note to coins to get out the car park. We arrived at 7pm the night before and it was £6, if anyone arrives at check in time of 3pm it could be even higher! Average room for the price.
Review 53:Decent location right near the clubs/pubs.
Review 54:I thought it was a bit expensive as you had to pay £13 extra per person for breakfast. Our bed was a bit lumpy. We did mention this to reception and they would let us change rooms but it wasn't as nice as ours so stayed put.
Review 55:The Bull is located in the middle of Peterborough and is a really good location if you want to shop or I went to the Library to research family history. Our room was large with big wardrobes. Very nice. The staff very helpful. We arrived very early and they let us into our room even though arrival was for 2pm. It had kept its historic history.
Review 56:Walls in the room paper thin heard the lady talking at 6am in the room next door which woke me up ,tiles in the bathroom cracked
Review 57:Friendly helpful staff excellent location
Review 58:The family room was smalLer than expected. The breakfast was very pricy even for kids. The entrence had a strong smell of eggs/off meat. No lift for buggy/luggage had to keep it down stair in a closet. Heating wasn't working at first but sorted it out later. Taxi had to drop us off at a corner one way street. Not great shampoo/ body wash. Cheap stuff. No antibacterial soap for hand washing in the bathroom. Hair dryer old fashion. Iron board flimsy. Carpet could use another hoover. No view just concrete walls. Heater fan makes noise at night.
Review 59:I liked the location right in the center of shops and cafes. Kind workers patient with my young kids. They kept taking the mints from the restaurant. Clean and a lot of towels.I would come again despite the cons. The cafes such as Starbucks and pretty manager ate walking distance including NANDOS and Mcdonalds. Beautiful seating area good WiFi speed. A lot of tasty biscuits near the coffee and tea. Kids loved them. I do recommend 7/10.
Review 60:Room had a view of a brick wall and was dark. It was also overheated to the point of discomfort with no obvious way of turning the heat down - the radiator wasn't even on so I think the sauna like conditions were due to the heated towel rail. There was also a continuous noise of running water.
Review 61:Convenient for city centre and station. Hotel clean and bed comfortable.
Review 62:Lack of drawer space in the room - single bedside drawers only provided - one virtually taken up by the Gideons Bible !! Reception made aware on check-out !
Review 63:Convenience to Peterboro' centre
Review 64:Information about what is available to do locally would be helpful for leisure visitors would be useful. Car park post code is different to the hotel.
Review 65:Good location for city centre. Friendly welcoming staff. Restaurant service was excellent.
Review 66:Location of room could have been slightly better. Views were of behind building looked onto lots of mechanical units and pigeon mess
Review 67:My daughter aged 10 And I stayed for one night for a shopping trip. Everything was excellent. Will want to return.
Review 68:The only downfall was the shaver plug in bathroom did not work, could not charge my toothbrush, but that is it
Review 69:Was made very comfortable , food was good, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, definitely go again
Review 70:Restaurant was very expensive and wasn't impressed with the food or service.
Review 71:As a driver all week it was lovely to find a decent hotel where I could park my car and walk to everything. Close to pubs, eateries, theatre and the impressive Cathedral. Many shops and cafes for everyone's tastes. Staff were polite and helpful. Hotel is clean and full of character.
Review 72:Noisy room, could hear water falling down behind the wall. Couldn't sleep properly because of it. I came to Peterborough to do the half marathon so paying £13 a breakfast and not having any banana available when there is such a running event in town was a bit disappointing.
Review 73:Great staff, very helpful and friendly. Forgot my jacket there, I got it back 2 days later at small cost. Dinner at the restaurant was nice.
Review 74:£13 for breakfast!!!!
Review 75:Lovely hotel, comfortable room. Friendly, helpful staff. The hotel also let us store our bags the next day whilst we were taking part in the half marathon!
Review 76:The only item I would change would be the two twin beds pushed together to make a large double, but the seem was clearly felt.
Review 77:The hotel staff, facilities and location were perfect and an easy walk to everything you could need. The bedding was superbly soft, and everything was quite nice. Much higher standard than expected, and very nice stay.
Review 78:The only negative is that the car park is hard to find.
Review 79:Our bedroom was very clean and nicely decorated. The bar was very pleasant and the food available was good.
Review 80:Had a problem parking on Saturday night as there was an event on. Bed could have been a little more comfortable.
Review 81:Good price for a central Peterborough hotel.
Review 82:The bed/mattress was impossible to sleep on...deep valley, horrible. The bathroom was not spotless. The hotel was too expensive to be such a disappointment.
Review 83:Location was helpful.
Review 84:Part of its charm, but dragging your suitcase upstairs along a corridor, down some stairs, round a corner, up more stairs etc. when you get there the room was small and you could hear the street brawlers during the night. Took half an hour to get out of the car park because the barrier wasn't working.
Review 85:Friendly, clean and great breakfast
Review 86:Unfortunately we had a terrible experience with 'noisy' neighbors - walls were paper thin & everything could be heard.
Review 87:The manager was very sweet & did offer a discount.
Review 88:Car park was full but allowed us to park in disabled space The rooms are nice rooms but we could hear TV in joining room and quite noisy outside.
Review 89:Location was perfect for central Peterborough
Review 90:extremely difficult to find car park and even when you do you have have to then find a way in. Cost me over 1/2 hour and it is a regular problem, met others in the same position. Hotel needs to improve signage and info on the booking.com site Also Trouser press did not work, tissue box only had 3 tissues in and insuffcient toiletries. I was the only guest in a double room so only got 1 small shower gel. Not really good enough for 4* Tried to charge me twice for my breakfast and had some difficulty resolving but got there in the end.
Review 91:Location good, friendly reception staff and bar staff. I forgot something and they assisted me. Helpful
Review 92:the difficulty in finding the entrance to the car park it took us over 40 minutes.
Review 93:the General decor of the Hotel and the Diner menue was exceptional and well presented compliments to the Chefs and resturent staff
Review 94:Cant think of anything not to like about The Bull.
Review 95:My second time at The Bull as it is convenient for my business appointments. Also now that I have found it I wont stay anywhere else. Staff are always friendly and efficient, rooms are comfortable and food is great, especially breakfast.
Review 96:The Fire Alarm went off at 9:15 but it was a false alarm. Breakfast in room arrived an hour early and I was therefore woken up by room service before my alarm.
Review 97:Lovely friendly staff and room was beyond expectations
Review 98:One room good. The second has nothing to do with 4 stars : Window opened on a wall, bed too narrow, not one single shelf... Several staff membres unpleasant. Bad welcomed.
Review 99:Good pub with an excellent staff. Good location but very badly indicated.
Review 100:The Hotel is very well presented and members of staff efficient friendly and welcoming. I liked the fact the hotel was central to the shops etc.
Review 101:Thought the staff were cold and aloof. You're supposed to smile when you meet guests!
Review 102:Location was excellent; rooms were clean and comfortable. Bathroom was good.
Review 103:Upgraded room ,but with small bed. have stayed here for the last five or six years when Burghley is on and some years had problem with parking when function room is being used.
Review 104:Bar area with nice seating. Meal in restaurant was very nice. Probably be back again next year.
Review 105:We had a double room on top floor which was small. The deco was horrible, curtains didn't close properly and I didn't sleep well due to a continuous humming noise (boiler?)
Review 106:The downstairs is lovely as are the staff, Especially Lauren in the bar who was very hard working and polite.
Review 107:The bed was not great - you could feel the bed springs, mattress must have been pretty old. The toilet didn't flush properly we had to buy a bucket from the supermarket to pour more water in. Wifi didn't work upstairs and we had continual problems with it. Sorry for being picky....
Review 108:Fairly quiet place, the restaurant food was really good. Parking was great, location pretty good. Water pressure in shower was great. Cleaners did a wonderful job daily (fresh sheets and towels every day!). Loved the downstairs area with the old timber beams.
Review 109:The hotel receptionist sent us to the wrong location for our room. We were advised our room was ready, even though we were a little early. When we got to the room the door was open, also there was bed linen on the floor that the maid had put there. we did not eat in the hotel, mainly because we were out most of the time, we do not use wifi. This may mean our score is a little lower than most people.
Review 110:Thought the hotel was in an excellent location. Also very oldy wordly.
Review 111:Staff sorted out single room at no extra cost when it was clear double room could not accommodate the extra bed requested for our son. Rooms cool and comfortable, bar staff good, hotel full of atmosphere.
Review 112:The staff in the restaurant especially in the evening were very rude and ignored me twice when we were waiting for a table. When we were finally taken to a table we were left with no menu to look at and were left for 10 minutes before anybody came with a menu
Review 113:Reception staff very friendly and helpful
Review 114:The room was very hot, then too cold with the air conditioning on. Reception staff were pleasant but unprofessional/inexperienced at check in and check out.
Review 115:Good central location. Clean room
Review 116:We liked the staff who were extremely helpful at all times convenience in the centre of Peterborough (and 24 hour check in), the excellent facilities and comfort that the hotel has to offer.
Review 117:Parking is difficult as its right in town center (and the area seemed a bit rough). There was a wedding on so it was noisey until gone 1am but that was just unlucky, generally the rooms were quite solid and soundproof.
Review 118:Nice bed and bathroom.
Review 119:Lots of noise from outside the hotel. I think this was from another bar as noise was at night and in the morning emptying bottles etc. Also I think £13.00 each for breakfast is a bit pricey. Otherwise a nice hotel
Review 120:clean and tidy room
Review 121:very difficult to find car park at the back of the hotel. Also very poor smoking area. was in the car park, no seats its been like this for years, should have been upgraded by now. wedding party there, smokers, just standing around very bad people standing around entrance smoking gives a bad impression of the hotel, give some thought please to the smokers.
Review 122:The car park was v busy due to wedding, rather a lot of noise at the front of the hotel, where our room was located- at the end of the wedding guests leaving making rather a lot of noise.
Review 123:The location is great, room a reasonable size, good bathroom and tea making facillties. Air conditioning.
Review 124:The hotel is not good value for money - £111 per night is too expensive for room only. The bar area is in need of some tlc and the barman appears to have had a charisma bypass
Review 125:Convenient for shopping
Review 126:Parking was a struggle because of large wedding being held there. Staff also charged me twice for a bottle of wine by accident which is proving a struggle to get back.
Review 127:Good location.
Review 128:It's very difficult to find the car park at the rear of the Hotel, a few signs at ground level would be very helpful.
Review 129:Booking in was made very easy, and the staff made you feel very welcome.
Review 130:The toilet didn't flush properly, the room was so hot because of the heated towel rack in the bathroom and one of the windows did not open so with 3 of us in the room it was extremely stuffy.
Review 131:The hotel was across the road from everything we needed so brilliant location.
Review 132:Why do you put people who have booked a cheap brake that you are offering in rooms at the front of the hotel where there is traffic noise. The hotel was not busy on our stay and we asked to move which was accommodated.
Review 133:The location of the hotel
Review 134:You must Ring hotel to find car park really hard to find and not same address as hotel £13.50 for breakfast? Really? Consisted of Poor cheap produce and weird service - avoid go somewhere else
Review 135:hotel is quite nice good central location
Review 136:We're anti Peel given the wind farm coming to our doorstep. Didn't realise it was a Peel hotel until printing off directions. Wouldn't have booked it othwewise.
Review 137:It was a comfortable hotel in a prime ,location with great parking.
Review 138:noisy room because of next door's shower and noise till midnight. That's terrible. Bed is bended on the center because it is used for long time. I can't understand why the owner or staffs don't care about such complains. I suppose many guests complain about that.
Review 139:Double room booked online was disappointing decor and size so had to upgrade. The alternative rooms offered looked more like a travelodge so ended up taking a suite which was more in keeping with the properties overall character Breakfast closing at 9.30am meant having to negotiate for service
Review 140:Character property
