Review 1：Don't let the outside put you off. Once inside, you're in a nice cosy hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them.

Review 4：The very basic décor (breakfast-room walls stripped down for redecoration, no lounge, and 'private bath' meant just that - no shower, power or otherwise) meant the room rate was a bit steep, in my experience anyway. Also, I was at the top of the guesthouse, no lift, and whilst this was thankfully no problem to me, for many people my age it would have been, but I was never asked when I phoned them with enquiries. Admittedly I booked at short notice, but last summer I got an okay single room, okay shared facilities, in Hollyhead at even shorter notice and for only £30. Also, no proper map of the town available, tho' they were free at the nearby folk museum.
Review 5：Good location (opposite train station, near only large store). No parking, which didn't apply to me, but drivers mightn't be pleased. That said, it being a small time there may well have been ample parking nearby, and as most of the guests I saw were business (and probably staying for days at a time) this may well have been the case. The TV worked first time, a bonus.
Review 6：There was no shower in my en suite - perhaps a handheld one could be added in the bath, to rinse hair.
Review 7：The Cambridge, and its proprietors, John and Joy, are very warm and welcoming, and I felt quite at home. They gave me good tips on necessities like getting my hair cut and my car fixed. The hotel has a relaxed vibe and is well priced. There is a generous choice at breakfast. The town centre and main roads to the Lakes and the coast are very nearby. I would definitely stay again.
