Reviews for Le Pavillon Saint-Martin
Review 1:Non-European drivers will find it a bit difficult to get in and out of the parking area.
Review 2:The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are spacious and well appointed, and the breakfast is very nice. We enjoyed our time here.
Review 3:Not much choice for eating out in Souillac in November
Review 4:We stayed in November, so air con was not a problem. The setting in the ancient square was fantastic, as was the welcome by the English speaking proprietor, who was very helpful with directions, advice etc.. The breakfast was one of the best we have ever enjoyed in a French hotel. Very high recommendation.
Review 5:Loved it all.
Review 6:Great location on a small square Full of character and very quirky. We had a comfortable room facing the square. Wonderful breakfast with great crockery and table decor. We loved this place. Had a good value delicious meal at the Grand Hotel just up the road.
Review 7:We didn't like the decor of our room but we peeped in others and they were very nice rooms.
Review 8:Nicely situated hotel, clean an comfortable. The owner is friendly and eager to help and to make your stay pleasant. We were upgraded to a large suite. Good breakfast i, nicely set in an old whine cellar, unique!
Review 9:The free private parking can only be parked maximum by 6 cars.
Review 10:The owners are very helpful and kindness, the room is clean, the beds are comfortable, the breakfast is very well served, the hotel is well located that can be used as a base camp to visit the touristic places.
Review 11:Hotel, marvellous mixture of old tastefully intertwined with new. Staff were excellent, want to learn how to decorate a hotel, serve breakfast and welcome guests, learn here! Good location, wi fi etc.
Review 12:It was easier to use a public car park than the small area allotted to residents
Review 13:Many of the best Dordogne visitor attractions are within a 20 mile radius.
Review 14:Characterful building, room decor very pleasing, excellent breakfast in lovely barrel vaulted cellar and very pleasant attentive owners. Excellent overnight stop on our journey north.
Review 15:The Wi Fi did not work in the room. There is not a hotel in France that understands what to serve for breakfast.
Review 16:The proprietors, the location and the decor of the room.
Review 17:No air-conditioning! Noise from the square in the nighttime, of course!
Review 18:The owner couple are very nice and helpful. Staff are welcoming and polite. The hotel is located right in the center, but they have private parking, which is really convenient for those who drive. The Friday Market is just in front of the hotel! Really interesting!
Review 19:Not a very welcoming reception from the front desk
Review 20:Room was small, but adequately appointed. We were at the front of the building, facing the square, so it was a bit noisy...but fun to see the action
Review 21:No complaints at all about the hotel. We were a bit disappointed with the lack of good restaurants nearby and those nearby didn't offer much variation.
Review 22:Eric and staff very kind and extremely helpful. Room comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was wonderful, far more than we expected and great value for money.
Review 23:- Souillac is a "one horse town" with a deserted old town (what a shame), but very conveniently located near the motorway. - As being in a very old building, the walls are paper thin. So, if you're unlucky (as we were) noisy neighbours can rob your sleep. - Wifi was cutting out when we were in our room
Review 24:+ Nice room overlooking the square + Great breakfast + Very friendly hosts + Free & private parking is provided nearby
Review 25:The hotel has historic charm. The view of the bell tower outside our window was great. We enjoyed the Friday morning market in the square in front of the hotel.
Review 26:It can be a bit noisy very early Friday mornings! There is no bar or lounge to relax in within the hotel.
Review 27:Charming hosts who provided advice on where to go and what to see. The parking was not too far and generally available. Plenty of bars and restaurants close by and we particularly enjoyed La Vieille Auberge. Busy market on a Friday morning.
Review 28:Nothing to dislike
Review 29:Friendly and helpful people, location right in the heart of this attractive small town, yet can walk down to the Dordogne, great breakfast, interesting old building
Review 30:Wonderful location, right on the plaza - walked out in the morning into the middle of the market stalls! Lovely character building, friendly staff, excellent breakfast.
Review 31:We stayed on our way to South West France. This was very convenient as it was only a few minutes off the main A20. The owners are very welcoming and the town is worth a visit.
Review 32:Nothing
Review 33:Lovely character building in the centre of town. Good welcome on arrival and help with bags etc. Great breakfast. Nice to have parking close by.
Review 34:The hotel was great, the only minor thing to mention is that at night the corridor and stairs were quite dark until we found the timed light switch! Some might not like the mix of modern and traditional decor but we loved it.
Review 35:Secure garage for parking our motorcycles, Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Although no restaurant there are plenty to choose from and the partner restaurant is literally just outside the hotel door and the food choice and quality was excellent. The Hotel has plenty of character and our room was lovely and clean and had a great view of the Belfroi tower.
Review 36:nothing
Review 37:Everything--the breakfast was outstanding-- served in the converted cellar by the owners, who were very friendly and helpful during our 2 nights stay. We tried both of their recommended restaurants and had a super meal each time Will return on our next visit to Soulliac.
Review 38:we had some difficulties while visiting france this year and would have been utterly lost without the great generosity and assistance provided by Veronique
Review 39:There was nothing to dislike
Review 40:Everything, we only stayed one night on our way south, but wouldn't hesitate to stay longer. Easy access from the motorway lovely town plenty of restaurants.
Review 41:Very very noisy rooms, expensive basic breakfast, basic facilities.
Review 42:A nice period hotel set within a small square with close by restaurants and bars (not noisy) we arrived by motorbike and after being shown to our relativity small room I was shown to a small courtyard and given a parking space inside the owners garage very safe and secure, we had breakfast on the first morning but it was perhaps a little expensive (11.50 euros each) Our room was probably not the best with no tea making facilities, a very smelly wardrobe with a broken mirror, the room was very very noisy from next door and above to the point that we could hear people using the loo. an ok hotel if you are exploring the area but not for much else.....
Review 43:Dirty towels from previous customer were left in linen basket.
Review 44:Surroundings were superb. Hotel and its services were faultless. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Review 45:Nothing really, but be aware you may be woken early by the market being set up just outside. All part of the local character
Review 46:Our room looked right our into the small market square. The house dates back to the 16th C and is full of character, with rooms prepared to a high standard. Friendly owner & staff and a good breakfast. Private parking (but be aware the access streets are very narrow!)
Review 47:We had such a great time in the hotel which is very comfortable andclean!! The breakfast is delicious, probably the best we had in france. The owners are so nice and kind. They give each guest its personalattention. Highly reccomended :)
Review 48:We arrived fairly late but within the time given to find we could not park the car, and had to initially leave it on the street… and then move it late on the night. There was also a jazz festival going on the two days we stayed, which went on to 23:30 right outside the window, and to make things worse, a market set up outside our window at 7:00 next day!
Review 49:On a positive note, the hotel is nice, clean and well run. Just check if there is anything on the days you stay!
Review 50:Nothing, but note that you need to pop by office to find out where parking is located. it is a block away but all luggage can be dropped off in front....and there is an elevator.
Review 51:Very kind, knowledgeable owners who have created uniquely decorated country chic rooms and know everything about the area (owner was a vice-mayor in town for a while). The hotel faces the 12th century "beffroi" and a small central plaza where there is a Wednesay night locally-sourced market and where we ate at the affordable, delicious outdoor Couleur Cafe where you could have a full meal with locally sourced cheese, veggies and more for 10-15 euros. SOuillac is a good option as slightly less overrun with tourists than all other spots. It was about a half hour drive from all big tourist spots. Note: family room # 12 with 2 twin beds and large parent bed ( separated by large curtain) had absolutely lovely linens and decor and a view of all the happenings outside. Merci aux proprietaires pour toute votre aide et votre accueil chaleureux!
Review 52:The rooms were very hot at night. Although once i requested a fan one was put in my room. The breakfast, although very nice, was very over priced.
Review 53:The hotel itself is a lovely old building with beautiful features. The rooms are small but comfortable. The owners are lovely and cannot do enough for guests. They were very friendly and helpful.
Review 54:Front of the building over looking a lively market is noisy. Have to accept that a 500 year old manor house has many limitations: no air conditioning, so hot in summer.
Review 55:Location and character of 15th century old building.
Review 56:The room was a bit warm.
Review 57:The building is right in the gorgeous old centre of Souillac and is beautiful itself. The owners where lovely and the breakfastbuffet was great.
