Reviews for Woolpack Inn
Review 1:The bed was very uncomfortable and squeaked loudly when you turned over and the shower ran out of water halfway through!
Review 2:Good location, staff wonderful food and drink fine!
Review 3:My husband and I came to stay for a night after walking Scafell Pike. This must be the friendliest establishment I have ever visited. The wood fired pizzas were great and the newly refurbished bar area has a great vibe, I will definitely recommend this place to all my friends.
Review 4:Nothing to dislike
Review 5:Very welcoming ,relaxed atmosphere ,friendly staff. Defanatly stay again .very well presented and tasty food .homemade pizza yummy after a few beers
Review 6:Shower did not work.
Review 7:Location: nice atmosphere: great choice of food and lovely local beers! We had a relaxed stay in an outstanding area of natural beauty.
Review 8:Fantastic hotel and bar. We stayed two nights and everyone was friendly and welcoming. We'd ordered online and in order to make our stay more comfortable(we have 2 under 2's) they moved us to a bigger and more costly room FOC. Totally customer focused.
Review 9:Noise from the bar kept us awake. Shared bathroom wasn't ideal but can't complain about that really.
Review 10:Nice bar, good food. Rooms aren't anything special but was fine for what we wanted.
Review 11:Wifi sketchy but understandable in the middle of nowhere. Thin wall to next room, heard every word of big brother till 23-00.
Review 12:The food The location Breakfast..homemade yoghurt and jams
Review 13:I found the room rather warm and the bed on the small side for a double.
Review 14:I loved the fact that you could roll up soaking wet from a hike in the fells and it didnt matter. The food is excellent and the choice of ales was good. Breakfasts were hearty as befits a B&B in the fells. Showers were good. There is also a good craic in the pub associated with the B&B Would go there again.
Review 15:Thw woolpack inn is an old pub in 2 halves. One half is the b&b the other half has been renovated to a low standard to try and modernise it. The attention to detail leaves something to be desired, our room had thread bear carpet a hole in the wall from the door handle , a bed with springs coming through the matress, and a shower that the water hardly dribbled out of the shower head. The cleanliness and overall apearance needs major attention. There are brown damp staining patches on the dining room ceiling and from the skylight on your way up the stairs to the rooms. The staff are all young students apart from a couple and seem more interested in talking to each other than serving and looking after thier customers. At £100 a night with breakfast i would not return to the woolpack inn and would sugest you look at ambleside or windermere etc as i think you would get a better class of b&b for this ammount of money .
Review 16:The setting
Review 17:Breakfast way over-priced and breakfast ingredients were poor. Fruit was damaged, bread and pancakes were stale.
Review 18:Staff were friendly and helpful. Beer and evening food were great. Room was nice with a good sized bath for a post walk soak! Footpaths into the hills close by. Wi-Fi
Review 19:The breakfast was not upto much based on it's price and after booking on Booking.com did not realise that the price was for room only and then had to pay a further £10 per head per night for breakfast. It would have been cheaper to have booked it direct .
Review 20:The woolpack is ideally situated in the Eskdale valley for walking and offers a friendly relaxed atmosphere for chilling out after a day's walk. The pub is very dog friendly and you must try the homemade pizzas !!
Review 21:The room itself was a bit shabby and I had assumed that breakfast was included in the price, however it was an extra £10 per person. The menu was limited, pizzas, burgers fish and chips etc but as its the only place around they have a captive audience and their high prices reflect this. Its a shame that it was mainly the weather that made our stay enjoyable at the Woolpack.
Review 22:The room was quiet, the bed was very comfortable and the television was huge. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the sticky toffee pudding was fabulous.. We stayed here as we wanted to do some specific walks and as the weather was great we had a lovely couple of days
Review 23:The bath!

Review 35:Access to the rest of the lakes is via two narrow and twisty passes
Review 36:Good Value and useful for access to Wasdale and Eskdale
Review 37:Not enough places to dry things out if you have had a wet day in the lakes.
Review 38:Friendly place. Wonderfully isolated
Review 39:Room was a bit small and noisy until the bar closed but I booked late and there are quite a few rooms available
Review 40:Great location and a brilliant pub with a great choice real ale and an excellent food menu
Review 41:being charged £10 for a "hearty breakfast". Could get quite busy especially with alot of children, but when it was quiet it was great and you could get talking with the staff
Review 42:wonderful surroundings, excellent walks pizza's were awesome room was nice good beer kept the bar open for as long as you wanted Good showers. Rooms were always tidied every day
Review 43:Room was in poor, poor repair.....towel rack, shower, tap water was brown......paint chipping ....all furniture worn past the point of being comfortable
Review 44:Great staff. Rustic charm.
Review 45:Perfect location for some beautiful lake district walks including Scafell pike. Brilliant for exploring Hardknott fort and Harter fell. Its a fantastic place to chill out.
Review 46:Not much!
Review 47:Great location and staff. Problem with ensuite unfortunately meant a shared bathroom but staff responded in the right way with apologies and unsolicited compensation.
Review 48:there is nothing negative I can say about our visit. everything was above what we had expected.
Review 49:we were very happy with the first impressions on arrival and over the couple of nights we stayed the more impressed we got. paddington and dave made our trip and stay very relaxed and enjoyable. the staff are more than happy to help, it is extremely clean and the food is lovely. we will definitely be going back to the Lake District and the woolpack inn will be where we will be staying :0)
Review 50:Nothing to dislike. We chose not to take one of the ensuite rooms and used a shared bathroom. The bathroom had recently been re-tiled to a high standard and it looked great. The grotty shower curtain took away from this a bit. Minor issue but after doing such a good job of the bathroom, the final touches let it down a bit
Review 51:Great welcome and hospitality. Fresh well cooked food (great pizza), great real ales which are obviously very well kept. Lovely breakfast and a spectacular secluded location. Amazing value
Review 52:I love Eskdale and come in every year. Usually stay at Stanley but was full so booked Woolpack which we also knew for food/drink. Really enjoyed our stay, staff were great and good value for money. See you in August. Thanks x
Review 53:I loved the inclusion of the full English breakfast. And the staff were incredible. One of our party was injured hiking and the staff went above and beyond to help us make sure she hadn't broken anything and even allowed us a later check-out the next day due to the circumstances. Wonderful place to holiday!
Review 54:Only thing to improve would be drying facilities. We were walking and drying room was inadequate and heater not switched on.
Review 55:Very friendly staff. Lovely mix between old style charm and modern stylish comfort. Food was excellent.
Review 56:the big screen TV in the main bar , but its needde for the sport I guess to attract trade
