Reviews for Churchill Court Hotel
Review 1:Poor location, address said main road woodstock but it was about 4 mile away in long Hanborough on the end of an industrial estate!
Review 2:great room, lovely big bathroom, bed very comfy
Review 3:Had to keep window closed because of noise from a busy road. Single rooms often in less good position.
Review 4:Staff very helpful, friendly & efficient. Everything I needed for a short stay.
Review 5:windows need adjusting as they didn't shut properly and traffic noise in at night but not didn't disturb sleep too much. basin took long time to drain
Review 6:the young ladies dealing with breakfast were very pleasant and cheerful. the breakfast was really good, the scrambled eggs were the best i have tasted in a long time. the couple of little negatives are more than outweighed by the way we were treated by the staff
Review 7:Hotel needs better advertising on main road ..sign was covered by an ice cream advert so went passed twice ..eventually found it , after asking in local Co.Op
Review 8:Staff very helpful ...! Good breakfast ..! Met Owner Very pleasant and helpful ..good knowledge of the area ..Would use the hotel again ..!
Review 9:Not so much a dislike, just an observation. Evening meals are not served, but then it tells you that when booking.
Review 10:Easy if you arrive after hours. Very straightforward. Very clean and comfortable.
Review 11:We liked everything about our stay. One tiny observation was that the room was quite small compared to others I've stayed in - I travel quite a bit for business. But generally no complaints at all!
Review 12:Very helpful staff; excellent breakfast; comfortable bed; good location - only one stop on the train to Oxford and the station is literally yards from the hotel. Be sure to check out the Transport Museum in Hanborough which is also within walking distance. George & Dragon pub just down the road is also great for a bite to eat!
Review 13:Housekeeping poor. Have to book an ironing board. Insufficient tea and often no sugar left for us. Cups not washed. No lighting above safe. Cobwebs on ceiling. No lift and no assistance to upstairs room with luggage. HK opened window (we found it open when we got back at midnight). HK put TV on (we found it on when arrived back at midnight.)
Review 14:Location and staff
Review 15:The shower was very dirty & mouldy, the hotel was located next to an industrial estate & 'wine bar' was almost non existent
Review 16:Good spacious rooms,
Review 17:Cannot fault the hotel or staff.
Review 18:We were really impressed with the hotel. It is presented very well, with old charm of the building on the outside and modern clean facilities inside. We were given a free upgrade so it was better value for money. Staff were really friendly and helpful too.
Review 19:It is roughly a 2.5 to 3 mile walk to Woodstock and if walking back in the evening I would suggest taking a torch but that is nothing to do with the hotel.
Review 20:The staff were very helpful and accommodating.
Review 21:We were upgraded to a suite which was excellent value for money. It was clean and comfortable. Lovely and quiet. The staff were very helpful. It was easy to catch the train to Oxford. 5 min walk. 10 min train journey.
Review 22:Disappointed to come back and find that the bath towels which we had left on the bathroom floor to indicate we wanted them changed, had been rehung on the radiator
Review 23:Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Room was very good and clean
Review 24:The cleaner walking in without knocking. It seems she was anxious to see us on our way
Review 25:We upgraded and found the room to be larger and very comfortable
Review 26:Would have been good to have the bar open at some point so we could use it or indeed purchase food or drink other than at breakfast time.
Review 27:Staff very helpful and accommodating with any requests, we chose here for access by train to a festival however they were on strike that particular weekend and there was no bus service so were somewhat stranded.
Review 28:Being really picky...refreshment tray milk had been forgotten ,no one on duty to ask !!!
Review 29:Location excellent for our needs, room was huge,!...breakfast good choice, big car park , would stay again....
Review 30:. Would have preferred a bath but that is personal view. Slightly awkward getting in on Sunday evening as no reception then. Cooked breakfast I would rate as adequate.
Review 31:large comfortable room and bed. Quiet room considering it was near a busy commuter road. Also near good rail link (five minutes walk) to Oxford and London, but did not hear it. Free wifi. Helpful staff.
Review 32:Location was just perfect for our stay around Oxford, we planned a day visit Blenheim, and a day trip into Oxford, we booked for an extra nights stay, as it was so good we decided to make it our base for an extra day. We were able to walk to the train station for a ten minute ride directly into Oxford, super, and around 20% cheaper than a stay in Woodstock, I would very highly recommend this accommodation to anyone wanting to do a few days around the Oxford area, as it is so convenient and very good value, staff were also very helpful, and room spotless and comfortable.
Review 33:The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean had everything needed for a weekend break with a good sized bathroom. The location, near the station and Blenhiem Palace, was very good. There is a pub doing good food only 5-10 minutes walk away.
Review 34:Some noise from the road outside.
Review 35:The information given about arrival was very thorough, staff gave clear instructions and came to check on us despite reception having closed for the day. Breakfast delicious!
Review 36:Misled about location, it IS NOT in Woodstock at all! Facilities are poor, owner unaproachable, Distances and taxi fares quoted to nearby facilities are blatant lies.
Review 37:clean room
Review 38:This hotel is not in Woodstock, as it tries to make out. The quality of rooms and other facilities is akin to a standard European budget hotel, but it is not priced accordingly.
Review 39:Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 40:The Courtyard Hotel at Woodstock did not have telephone in the bedrooms. We were allowed to receive calls but had to take the call in the cafe downstairs on the staff phone. Which we found archaic.
Review 41:Countryside drives and closeness to Blenheim Palace, local pub and staff were very friendly.
Review 42:Bathroom was really small. I checked in late and no one around which sort of reminded me like a hostel. No facilities at evening/night time i.e no bar no food and for out of area people who do not know the area that is not good.
Review 43:I liked the comfortable room
Review 44:This hotel is NOT in Woodstock and was very isolated - we wanted to use the facilities in Woodstock in the evening etc - this was not possible by walking - no evening facilities no bar which meant very very quiet evenings if you did not wish to drive anywhere - a little more honesty would have been appreciated over the location then we would have been prepared,
Review 45:The room was rather dusty such as skirting boards and top of wardrobe.
Review 46:Friendly staff, well furnished with a good atmosphere. A good breakfast selection.
Review 47:You just need to know there is a 10 min walk to most excellent pub for evening meal. Not a problem.
Review 48:Large bedroom with wonderful shower room. Great facilities, fridge, kitchen area, coffee/tea etc Altogether very well appointed. I would stay again if in this area.
Review 49:Road noise a bit of a problem. Views of the industrial estate not great. No facilities for afternoon or evening refreshments.
Review 50:The room was small but comfortable. Very clean. Staff were friendly & helpfull. Breakfast was good.
Review 51:No evening restaurant and a bit of a hike to nearby pub.
Review 52:A really spacious and comfortable suite. Very short walk to the station. Good value, especially compared to Woodstock, on the other side of Blenheim Park.
Review 53:Although the room was fairly small, it was laid out well & had nice matching furniture. Shower was good. Breakfast was great. Short distance from Blenhiem Palace too.
Review 54:Having a burgular alarm go off at 3am in the business park which was right by our room. Also no check-in desk & not having the facility of evening meals.
Review 55:Quality in standard & cleanliness of room. Also breakfast excellent selection of food & cooked well
Review 56:Wish there was a bar/snug room/ or restaurant open in eve with some staff. As we had young children we were stuck and could go not go out once they were asleep. Prob need to make it very clear on website that the winstons cafe does not open after 7pm as I thought it did. Other than that really lovely and very happy.
Review 57:Fantastic room very well equipped, they had set up sofa bed for my two young children which they loved. Very clean hotel our room was spotless and very comfortable bed! Staff very friendly. Fantastic breakfast.
Review 58:The size of the room was a great surprise, in addition to the very comfortable bed there was a lovely large leather sofa with coffee table. The bathroom was a great size too. Both the bedroom and bathroom were spotless.
Review 59:No food or drink service available in the evening.
Review 60:Clean and comfortable hotel. Good selection of food available for breakfast. Train station approx 5 min walk away for trains into Oxford (journey time 10 mins).
Review 61:Located on an extremely busy road and our room backed on to a business park with HGV lorries reversing in and out before 7am even at weekends. At least Travelodges tell you about noise!
Review 62:The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. Less than 5 minute walk to train station for trains to Oxford.
Review 63:Good quality accommodation. need to be aware that the accommodation is not manned in the evening and therefore access codes to key boxes are needed to gain entrance to the room.
Review 64:Room very small No fried eggs at breakfast and poached eggs really hard
Review 65:Room and bathroom very good standard Very friendly and helpful staff Good carparking
Review 66:Wifi made a big difference for the kids when they woke early. Breakfast was great and they went the extra mile for the kids. Very welcoming. 10/10
Review 67:Quite noisy (traffic) despite double-glazed windows. Curtains didn't keep out the light, so I woke up very early both mornings. Fire alarm went off around 7pm and we(guests) had to telephone for a staff-member after going outside, as no-one appeared to be on site. Fire brigade did not arrive at all, and staff-member arrived after 10 or 15 mins. (Guests had worked out by then that steam from the shower in one of the rooms had set off the alarm.)
Review 68:Very helpful friendly staff Excellent breakfast Well-appointed ensuite double room.
Review 69:5-10 minute drive to Blenheim Palace and close to Oxford (15 minute drive). Lovely rooms, really friendly staff, quiet location, good breakfast. Good system to accommodate late check in arrivals. Would stay again!
Review 70:lots of noise from doors slamming and people running around and quite close to main road. breakfast was functional (and large portions!) but average food.
Review 71:the staff were fantastic and very welcoming. comfortable rooms and easy late check in.
Review 72:Rooms were a little small Shame Wine Bar didn't offer an evening menu and was basically just for breakfasts
Review 73:Staff were most helpful and accommodating Breakfast was excellent, cooked to order and good choice
Review 74:The hotel is surrounded by an industrial estate. We did not realise it was a lock up .....no staff on the premises at night. Breakfast was poor. Cheap and dirty cutlery.
Review 75:The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable.
Review 76:No bad points.
Review 77:Excellent family room with a kitchenette, essential for travelling with a young family. Room was extremely comfortable, clean and finished to a high standard. Breakfast was excellent with a variety of choice. Staff were very helpful and polite. Location is excellent for Blenheim Palace, Woodstock. Blading, the Cotswolds and nearby Oxford. Only a 4 minute walk to the train station at Hanborough. We would highly recommend this Hotel.
Review 78:Everything was lovely room, food, location and staff. The owner even gave us a lift to an appointment we had when we couldn't get a taxi straight away it was very much appreciated
Review 79:I didn't like the fact that there was nobody on site after 7pm and that you needed a code to get into the building
Review 80:The staff were friendly. The bed was comfortable.
Review 81:Busy road and factory units next door. Only on short stay so did not affect us.
Review 82:Staff very amiable and comfortable room. General upkeep of hotel good.
Review 83:Room was tiny No ITV1 channel on TV A little noisy
Review 84:Power shower twice the usual size Staff happy & friendly Ideal location near station & Blenheim
Review 85:Traffic noise after 7:00 am (but quiet before then)
Review 86:Friendly, good shower, polite, comfortable and very clean. A good breakfast (but no fried egg with the full English - poached egg was a good substitute!)
Review 87:Not much to dislike but I would have preferred having somewhere to eat/drink in the evenings. The information suggested a wine bar but this was not open and the local pub looked really nice but it was a bit of a walk on a cold evening.
Review 88:Staff were friendly, room was clean and ideal for staying just a couple of nights. Breakfast was good too. We visited Blenheim Palace which was only about 5 mins away.
Review 89:Too far out from Woodstock for us as that is where we wanted to be in the evening.
Review 90:Friendly staff and good breakfast provided. We were recommended a taxi firm to get us to Woodstock and they were the friendliest taxi we have ever been in.
Review 91:On arrivals the staff of this hotel were lovely and welcoming ! Hotel was spotless, executive room fabulous & beds comfy ! 3 mins from hunborough train station where we got a train into Oxford for £3.20 return !! We loved The Courtyard and will return
Review 92:Bed too tall & soft, Room bit small, no phone signal,
Review 93:Very clean. nice bathroom well equipped with hairdryer & toiletries, good heating control, nice wardrobe, good tv,
Review 94:Bathroom lights are not switched on in the bathroom which is a mild incovenience, but not the end of the world.
Review 95:Close to rail station. Easy drive to Blenheim. Decent pub 10 mins walk away. Very helpful and friendly staff. Nice breakfast.
Review 96:Unablecto get in at 9.30; wrong code given for door. Heating in the bedroom was ridiculous and poor. Shower settings for flow poor
Review 97:Good breakfast. Clean room and common areas. Parking easy.
Review 98:Nothing
Review 99:Nice modern room. Walk in shower, tea and coffee facilities, comfy bed. Lovely brekfast. Nice pub (George and Dragon) 10 minute walk away for for meals. Nice friendly staff.
Review 100:Nails on sofa, hairs in shower. NOT a full English breakfast, everything microwaved and tasted awfull. What does it take these days to cook a fried egg???
Review 101:nice beds
Review 102:Althought small, the hotel has very large and cosy rooms. The bed were very soft and big. The wifi was available for free in the entire building. Tha breakfast was very good.car park free in front of the hotel.
Review 103:nothing bad just wish hotel did evening meals. There is cake and coffee etc for lunch time and evening meaks only available in local pub.A good take away or delivery service is available from local Chinese and Indian resturants.
Review 104:Very Friendly Very Clean and i had to work early so hotel offered me take away breakfast very happy
Review 105:Room very cold, had to sit in coats until heating took the cold off the room. Needed low but constant heat, heat only on when card inserted in key holder. Weather very cold outside would have loved to come back to a warm room.
Review 106:Beautiful room, very pleasant staff. Location good for park and ride into oxford. Will return in warmer weather
Review 107:A bit remote apart from proximity to the local railway station. Breakfast was a little average. Breakfast cereals are served in large coffee cups and a fried egg is not possible, because the kitchen is not equipped with a hob!
Review 108:Good location for the local railway station.
Review 109:No evening meal available in the hotel, but there are plenty of other places to eat nearby.
Review 110:Plentiful room size Very friendly staff Very comfy beds Amazing cooked breakfast Good bathroom facilities
Review 111:lack of acess to staff at night, came home had a cuooa and couldn't get any more milk for cuppa tea in morning. they could provide an access code to a stores cupboard or just provide more milk etc in room
Review 112:staff welcome, cleanliness and choice of breakfast
Review 113:nothing
Review 114:Clean lines & modern feel, together with different things than 'english cooked on the menu, although you could have that as well. Excellent place to stay for work or visiting.
Review 115:The hotel is located off the main roads so is quiet at night, but more difficult to find at first. It is very clean and well cared for.Breakfast is buffet style with plenty of choice and a good variety of hot options prepared to order.
Review 116:Breakfast took ages and was limited in quantity and choice and the hotel isn't in a pretty village, Needed a better shower and also better lighting in car park, but generally it was more than 'get what you pay for' it was a good deal.
Review 117:Decent little hotel , much much cheaper than most of the places in the area, Not fancy but easy to stay there, modern sizeable room. Didn't really want fancy, just a decent base for visiting Blenheim and the Cotswolds.
Review 118:There was no obvious desk to check in or out
Review 119:The hotel was clean and fresh and the room was open & spacious. The staff were friendly and made us very welcome.
Review 120:No sleeping late on a weekday due to the removals co. next door (which can also be a good thing as it gets you up and out!).
Review 121:Executive suite and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast cooked to order.
Review 122:The only downside to the hotel was the lack of a restaurant on site. There is a small cafe which serves tea, coffee and light bites all day until 7pm where breakfast is served in the morning. The food is not fantastic, but serves a purpose if you are just after some morning fuel!
Review 123:The rooms were beautiful - recently decorated and immaculately clean. The hotel itself was very quiet and the staff friendly, efficient and helpful. Although there is no restaurant on site, there is a lovely pub just down the road who give 10% off to Courtyard customers, which serves excellent food. A very comfortable, relaxing stay in a lovely hotel. Excellent value for money. We will be happy to return!
Review 124:Nothing Whatsoever.
Review 125:Superb Hospitality from everyone at Motel. Excellent breakfast with modification and/or substitutions as desired if available. Large well equipped bathroom with ample hot water. Large bed-room, flat screen TV, table, desk, couch, ample sink, counter and refrigerator. Good parking off-street in courtyard adjoining entrance. Very short drive to Woodstock, Blenham Castle, Churchill gravesite and several good restaurants.. Five minute walk to train station behind Motel with 13 minute ride to Oxford and about hour and 15 to London. Would not hesitate a return visit. The ready access to rail was a plus if you were traveling to a congested area to tour.
Review 126:The rooms are very spacious and look lovely - they look more expensive than they are. The bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is AMAZING, it's huge and the shower is both modern and again big. We missed the breakfast deadline but the staff were so lovely that they gave us breakfast anyway as well as a friendly chat about the area. Less than 5 minutes walk away from the station, less than 10 minute drive to Witney. Very happy with our stay :)
Review 127:That there was no facility for food - not even snacks and the breakfast was like fast food. Porridge was in the plastic container that it was bought in and the tea was served in a mug with the tea bag in. Not what Im used to!!
Review 128:Close to Woodstock and Blenheim Palace where we were visiting.
Review 129:As I have trouble walking the manager gave me a lift to and from a pub where I had dinner. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I thought the breakfast was very good.
Review 130:Nothing comes to mind.
Review 131:The proximity of the hotel to the railway station at Hanborough which made it very easy to get to Oxford without having to worry about parking the car. The pleasant and helpful staff at the hotel.
Review 132:Air con units outside of the window on a warm night was a pain. A power shower would be have been nice.
Review 133:The room was clean and tidy, everything was as it should be if a little compact.
Review 134:Staff a bit disinterested at breakfast, busy chatting. Weird crockery for breakfast cereals.
Review 135:Spacious room and bathroom. Perfect for small family, lovely big bed.
