Reviews for Hostellerie Le Beffroi

Review 1:Arriving in the medievel town by car is not easy it isn't brilliantly signposted and you have to pass through very tight gateways and streets with the car to get up to the hotel.

Review 2:The hostellerie is in a stuning location in the medievel town and has a charm which is not easy to find. There are many features which create a fanatastic character and atmosphere, the gardens are beautiful and the location is just incredible. Parking is available in front of the hotel, wi fi connection is good and the rooms are clean. There is a great òlittle tea house that serves wine and beer as well called Te chez moi just down the road which is great.

Review 3:Of course because the building is old it is not so comfortable. The stair cases are awkward the room and bathroom feel old. We have stayed in older hotels before but usually they can update the room keeping the charm but adding comfort. The bed gave us back pain because the matras was uncomfortable. Breakfast was overpriced.

Review 4:The location is nice and it is pretty neat to be in a building that is so old. The staff was very friendly.

Review 5:We loved the charm of the hotel and the amazing location - at the highest point of the town, in the medieval section. The building is from the 16th century and is beautifully restored and furnished. We loved the various eateries and ate breakfast, lunch and dinner there! Lunch on the outdoor terrace was a particular delight. A perfect place to spend our last night in Provence.

Review 6:Every aspect of this hotel was chosen to enhance and reflect the beauty, and history, of the building itself. It was the most charming hotel I've ever had the good fortune of staying in! The staff of the hotel and restaurant were very nice and helpful. And they gave us a room with AMAZING views!

Review 7:Very old rooms and tiny bathrooms, hard beds, difficult to access rooms on treacherous stairs.

Review 8:Location was ok, located in the old town with a nice garden overlooking the newer town

Review 9:The hotel was in a beatiful setting in a 14 th century building. It had a swimming pool and lovely gardens. Also parking right outside despite being in the old part of town. The staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Review 10:If you have anything other than a small car it is difficult to drive to the hotel -- most GPS systems lead you the wrong way and the streets in the upper town are very narrow -- so we had to carry our bags for about 150 metres and then park down the hill.

Review 11:Friendly staff, nice room, the pool, the easy walk in the lower town

Review 12:Incredibly dissapointed that despite booking 3 months ago - and clearly requesting a specific room - and asking for a response to confirm - our room was not even in the main hotel! Our room was perfectly ok but not very special and as such not the treat we were looking forward to : I assumed ( stupidly!) that as I had booked so far ahead & had heard nothing all would be as requested.

Review 13:Beautiful main hotel and charming staff

Review 14:Our room felt like the maids quarters. Very small and cramped. It also had windows right above the garden where breakfast preparation started at 7:00 which woke us up.

Review 15:Location in the older part of Vaison. The swimming pool was wonderful.

Review 16:It's a challenge to access the hotel parking the narrow streets problematic for larger vehicles.

Review 17:Most staff very knowledgable and helpful particularly in the restaurant. The food was exceptional good, and the wine list reasonably priced, comprehensive Rhone & Burgundy represented. The room and bathroom clean and neat.

Review 18:No Complaints!!

Review 19:The location in the old city and history of the area. The hotel has a beautiful ambience, the restaurant serves very good food and very good local wine selection and a romantic courtyard to dine in.

Review 20:Access to restricted hotel grounds for (double) parking far from easy with large vehicle.

Review 21:Friendly and helpful staff in hotel and restaurant. Location and view are great.

Review 22:Nothing. Beware of the steep hilltop access if you are driving a manual car.

Review 23:the hotel is an old school grand hotel. It is very sophisticated and has lots of charm. The rooms are classic but a little outdated. We really enjoyed walking up the ancient spiral staircase to our room in the bell tower. We ate an excellent dinner at the hotel.

Review 24:Bad staff and they charged 5 euros for 1 cup of coffee. There very expensive breakfast was bare bones. The staff also didn't speak any English so hard for tourists

Review 25:Location

Review 26:Arrived to sound of creek and the smiles from the staff, had a wonderful dinner. The morning was picturesque with chickens and peacocks and a wonderful breakfast.

Review 27:Couldn't find a problem, but would have preferred to stay in main building as our room was in an adjoining building. We felt a little detached from the facilities. Not a big issue really.

Review 28:Views over Historical town, Wonderful period decor, Parking & very welcoming host & staff.

Review 29:I had the lovely fortune of obtaining the corne room with a balcony and view of the valley. It was absolutely stunning. The restaurant served delicious dinners and a nice continental breakfast. And the hotel owner is charming and very helpful, as were the rest of the staff. The Tuesday AM market was also really great!

Review 30:My only constructive suggestion is to encourage your dining staff to smile. Their formality is not warranted for such an informal ambiance.

Review 31:First, Natalie was the best first impression we could ever have. Everyone was very war and so helpful. Your town is delightful. We would definitely return!

Review 32:Its inaccessibility. Up a hill, through an arch, narrow street. Parking is very limited and driving from main town to hotel is scary and difficult. Walking up steep incline with suitcases very challenging for older people.

Review 33:I liked the decor, the age, the size of room, the view, its position in an old village

Review 34:My wife, who is an avid cook/baker, asked for the recipe for their creme brulee and was graciously accomodated. Excellent dinner and accomadations.

Review 35:A tricky drive up a very narrow street or, alternatively, a steep walk from the main car park in Vaison - shoes with good grips essential!

Review 36:The hotel is lovely once you get there and we couldn't have wished for a better view. Our room was well equipped and comfortable.

Review 37:Nothing!

Review 38:What a find! Our say was in the old Roman part of the town. The courtyard for dinner was wonderful and so was the terrace overlooking the town where we ate breakfast in the garden. The rooms were quaint but a great size. We would thoroughly recommend this great privately owned hotel.

Review 39:There wasn't anything we didn't like about this hotel

Review 40:Our room at the Beffroi was not huge but had the advantage of three windows overlooking the old town, a comfortable bed and a nice table and chairs - we loved the period furniture. It was quite a hike up to hotel in the evenings into the old town but well worth it. The hotel swimming pool is fantastic with stunning views of the town from the terrace. Good breakfasts and very friendly English speaking receptionists.

Review 41:The preservation of the buildings is admirable. The hotel is able to offer modern amenities and comforts while retaining everything historic that tells the story of the buildings and their surrounds. What a wonderful blend. Spotless rooms, comfortable beds, great common areas, friendly staff. Not a single complaint or concern.

Review 42:The old city area is pretty quiet at night. Very hard to get wifi access. We resorted to using our own 3G which was costly.

Review 43:Excellent location with its own car-parking for about 10 cars. Access to the hotel was very tight on a narrow medieval cobbled street so you have to drive cautiously -- and don't drive the wrong direction on this one-way street as I did!! Dinner, served in the courtyard, was excellent and very well presented. This hotel is made up of a few different buildings (formerly individual houses) and with their own separate front doors. We were in the one that had the hotel's swimming pool. Bedroom was old-world style in decor and very attractive.

Review 44:Many stairs to reach our room. Very narrow streets to reach the hotel by car.

Review 45:Friendly staff. Fantastic views from garden and swimmingpool. Charming rooms.

Review 46:Some bathrooms a bit small but functional and clean. Coffee at breakfast is average otherwise good buffet with standard ham, cheese, cereal, yoghurt and bread basket.

Review 47:Great location, garden and view. Charming rooms. We have come back several times. Staff very nice.

Review 48:The bed was not so comfortable and i had some real troubles with it, but my husband didn't have any problems with it. Maybe I'm more sensible than he is. The wifi did not work for more than 1 connected device. Nothing too much to complain about really, this is a nice place.

Review 49:Location and building are unique. The pool is quite lovely. The staff was helpful and all nice. The room was clean and spacious.

Review 50:Not enough hand rails to help aged up difficult stairs

Review 51:Charming, helpful staff- No problem too difficult- helped with suitcase as I am elderly-Wonderful view from terrace with excellent salad bar

Review 52:Access to the hotel by car and the private parking outside could be a challenge for the faint of heart - or just a thrill to others !

Review 53:This hotel is located in the hillside of the medieval part of the town. The view is great from most rooms and from the charming little garden that serves as breakfast area and supplies fresh herbs to the superb hotel restaurant. The hotel and the whole area, with narrow cobbled streets, have a lot of charm. Our room was very nice but the bed was of the narrower kind. Most staff was very welcoming and helpful.

Review 54:I would advise people to take the main road up the side of the old town - not through it. There is some parking below the fete hotel, with 150yrd walk to the hotel (easy), much safer for hire cars than the narrow streets of the old town. it's not a dislike - it is just part of the environment!!!

Review 55:Lovely location - great pool area with view. Good restaurant. Lovely and friendly staff. More expensive than the fete up the road, however, better pool area, better value restaurant, and lovely breakfast area and gardens overlooking the town....giving an heart to the hotel.

Review 56:Small bathroom

Review 57:Charm, location, staff, breakfast

Review 58:Superb location in centre of Old Town

Review 59:Wonderful very old building, beautifully decorated, great breakfast, friendly, helpful staff.

Review 60:Evrything in that hotel!!!

Review 61:Pillows not so comfortable

Review 62:Excellent location, great service, terrace with a view. Old style, XVth century architecture.

Review 63:LOCATION and friendly staff

Review 64:Wifi was down for part of our stay.

Review 65:Staff made recommendations for restaurant and made reservations for us.

Review 66:Nothing

Review 67:Charming room, friendly staff, the hotel surrounding area resembling a medieval town

Review 68:beds not very comfortable; could do with new mattresses.

Review 69:Location, staff, setting, furnishings, atmosphere.

Review 70:Hotel located in medieval, hilltop part of Vaison Building full of character Fab pool Views from bedroom were stunning

Review 71:Bed bugs

Review 72:Location Restaurant Staff Ambiance Room was large and comfortable Swimming pool with a great view

Review 73:Breakfast too expensive for what you got.

Review 74:Loved the location and pool. Staff were very nice and helpful.

Review 75:The room, views, pool, food, building, location -- all delightful.

Review 76:We really enjoyed our stay at Le Beffroi. The room was spacious and the bed most comfortable, with really good pillows. The bathroom was large enough and very clean and the garden view from the two windows was charming and restful. All staff were so friendly and really helpful, with good suggestions about where to eat in the evenings. I would certainly recommend this hostellerie.

Review 77:The parking! Really really narrow streets( breathe in) and tight parking......the downside of an old town!

Review 78:Lovely room in a hotel full of character( in the old town). Very friendly and helpful lady ( Liz) greeted us . Nice terrace with good views. Restaurant had a lovely outdoor courtyard where we ate one night. Had a lovely meal with excellent service in a great location

Review 79:Location in the Cite Medievale, the character and age of the hotel - it's wonderful to be in such an old building inside the walled city. Room charming.

Review 80:This is our second time back within 1 week. Everything about this place makes it a home away from home. The staff especially Natalie ,and Monsieur Christianson made the stay most welcomed. The setting is fantastic and the breakfast was excellent. A place where we will return !!

Review 81:The drive in the rental was scary to get to the car park, but that couldn't be helped.

Review 82:We loved the setting and the view.It was fun being in the older part of the town. The staff was gracious and it was unique being in such an old building.

Review 83:Beautiful room was on the third floor with no elevator. It was worth the walk, but might not be for someone with difficulties with stairs, or a lot of luggage. Because of the time of year, restaurant (and pool) were not available.

Review 84:Location in the Medieval City Beautifully furnished room Outstanding breakfast On-site parking - we did not use it because we had read how difficult it was to drive in the medieval city, but my husband would have had no problems.

Review 85:Just was not exceptional - breakfast just okay for the price; parking byhotel but we chose to park farther away as street narrow; would notreturn though I liked the pottery they had for sale!

Review 86:Staff very friendly for the most part; in medieval part of town butshort walk to bridge - overall okay

Review 87:Difficult to negotiate the spiral stairs to rooms - with or without luggage. Auto access is difficult through the extremely narrow midieval streets

Review 88:A lovely historic hotel in a charming medieval hilltop village with a good restaurant. For the agile afoot and the careful driver it's a winner!

Review 89:One of the rooms we have need some TLC. The carpet looks dirty and old. The internet signal is only at the door step. This room feels a bit like a dungeon. The other room is in much better shape with nicer furniture.

Review 90:You can immense yourself in a medieval setting and yet enjoy some of the modern comfort. Swimming pool is gorgeous and has a great view of city. The hotel is an attraction itself.

Review 91:I would not park in the hotel's parking area because it requires driving through the "ruelleas" of the old town, i.e. very narrow streets. I parked in the free parking area at the bottom of the hill and found that easy since there was an easy path up without any stairs, so not a problem with luggage.

Review 92:Beautiful building in the medeival town of Vaison-la-Romaine. There is a great pool you have access to as a hotel guest; I recommend taking advantage of it. The breakfast in the garden was very nice. The evening hotel staff when I arrived was particularly nice and helpful.

Review 93:Very nice medieval location and views. Friendly staff, especially the helpful young lady during weekends. If driving through stone paved extremely narrow allys is not your "cup-of-cake" then there is a convinient public parking just outside the village.

Review 94:A lovely old building right next to the town belltower (Beffroi). The bells don't work so it's quiet. Beautiful views over Vaison, an excellent base for exploring. Excellent meals in the restaurant.

Review 95:Bathroom a little small but functional. Windy staircase makes carrying bags up quite difficult. Difficult access by car- road very narrow.

Review 96:Beautiful 16 th century hotel, lots of atmosphere. Walking distance to all of old city and short walk to bridge across to new town. Nicely decorated rooms. Good heating , friendly helpful staff with good eating out recommendations.

Review 97:Location was amazing, staff were really helpful and put themselves out

Review 98:Great location, exceptional character, good food.

Review 99:Location, location, location. Plus it's a beautiful medieval building. Adjacent parking which is a surprising bonus in an old town such as this.

Review 100:Beautiful location in the middle of the Medieval town. Very good position to visit Vaison's main attractions. Romantic and clean rooms.

Review 101:Parking Uncomfortable beds

Review 102:The location, history and experience was amazing

Review 103:Difficult to get to with a medium sized car as roads in the old city are very narrow.

Review 104:Atmosphere and location, excellent service and room.

Review 105:Beautiful old hotel located in medieval part of town. Lovely terrace overlooking town, ideal for evening aperos! Very helpful staff.

Review 106:Parking limited!

Review 107:Location in old part of city so quirky room lay out eg stairs to bathroom.

Review 108:The hotel was very well located, staff very friendly and facilities excellent

Review 109:It's a cool place that is fun to explore and very restful.

Review 110:Walk on ancient cobblestone streets when it rains.

Review 111:The setting in a medieval town. The location with its beautiful views.
