Reviews for Fern Lodge Bed and Breakfast
Review 1:We would have liked to see the pet policy online prior to the booking. This did not cause us a problem, but pets in beds is discouraged, so those with lap dogs may be surprised.
Review 2:Peter was a very kind host with friendly stories to share; a pleasant experience.
Review 3:Friendly welcome, nothing too much trouble. Very comfortable and spacious room with all the facilities we could want, super breakfast including catering for our special dietary needs, great advice on where to eat out, and private parking on-site.
Review 4:Wifi receive bad, central heating was turned off in the evening, small room with small bed (1,40m), hardly any water coming out of the shower head, in general cheap finishing in relation to the room price.
Review 5:We received an excellent breakfast. Our room was clean and we could make cups of tea in our room.
Review 6:Welcoming and helpful owners who gave great restaurant recommendation for our evening meal. Comfortable rooms with all the facilities you need. Lovely breakfast and convenient location for the Eurotunnel terminal.
Review 7:Unfortunately the bed didn't agree with my back. Parking is on the drive which is a steep hill and when tried to reverse on the gravel my tires wouldn't grip.
Review 8:Clean and tidy, breakfast was lovely, nice sea view.
Review 9:The bed was very uncomfortable, the room was a bit tired and could have done with dust and cobwebs removing from the bathroom.
Review 10:friendly people and the breakfast was very nice
Review 11:Nothing, except a longer stay would have been preferable !
Review 12:Greatly attentive and accommodating hosts. Amazing breakfast with every conceivable menu items, well prepared, cooked and presented. Extremely clean and comfortable.
Review 13:The room was poky & inadequately furnished. The en-suit old worn out & tiny. This along with a worn out bed is not of acceptable standard & bad advert for English standards.
Review 14:The proprietors were friendly & property well presented.
Review 15:The FRIENDLIEST staff, so very welcoming with a great sense of humour. They really went the extra mile to ensure out stay was comfortable and the breakfast in the morning was top notch!!! Highly recommend :)
Review 16:Very warm welcome, lovely bright, spacious room for three adults with sea view. On booking, the host took it upon himself to find us alternative accommodation for the previous night as Fern Lodge was fully occupied, very helpful! Breakfast was delicious.
Review 17:Lovely hosts who make you feel at home away frrom home; very good location; nice and friendly very clean room; delicious breakfast; very useful recommendations as to where to go and eat.
Review 18:Really nice traditional bed & breakfast with friendly owners who welcomed you warmly. Good base for exploring local area, Hythe is really nice or for calling to or from the ferry/tunnel.

Review 20:Very friendly and helpful host. Excellent breakfast cooked to order. Nothing too much trouble. On good bus route to surrounding towns and attractions.
Review 21:The wifi was a bit hit & miss but we were only there for one night so it wasn't too annoying.

Review 23:Comfortable room very clean, breakfast delicious...you always could choose, very, very friendly owners, beautiful classic music when we had breakfast,
Review 24:I would have liked a little more flexibility in arrival and departure times. Arrival after 5pm and leave by 10.30am can make getting ready to go out or to leave a bit rushed. However we will definitely go back. The
Review 25:We only stayed for a night whilst visiting a friend but the experience was very nice. The lounge is comfortable with an honesty fridge and snacks which was well stocked. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was well equipped. The breakfast was very nice and there was a good variety of extras to choose from alongside the lovely English breakfast. We will definitely go again.
Review 26:Sloping gravel drive not great for motorcycles. Had to wait for hot water to become available, as had been depleted by another guest. Large cobweb in shower cubicle.
Review 27:Convenient for Eurotunnel. Comfortable rooms. Good breakfast
Review 28:Although we arrived in Hythe much later than estimated the owners were still awaiting us giving a warm welcome in a wonderful family home. We - dog Holly included - were happily installed in a bright and cosy room. Breakfast truly was an experience, catering for vegetarian needs on the one hand, serving an overwhelming "british" breakfast on the other only topped by the kindness of the owners.
Review 29:Everything. We were treated like the only guests (we weren't of course). Francis had our room ready for us early and telephoned to say it was ready. She found out taxi prices, cooked a lovely fresh breakfast and didn't rush us at all. Very recommended!

Review 36:Lovely location near to the sea front and canal, perfect for walking the dog. The proprietor was very helpful and friendly. The room was super, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and good quality ingredients, cooked to perfection. I would definately stay here again if I use the Eurotunnel.

Review 45:Water pressure in en suite for basin and shower very poor.
Review 46:Off road car parking. Friendly reception and advice regarding the area. Very good and substantial breakfast. Comfortable bed. Property set well back from a busy road in spacious grounds.
Review 47:Road noise (with window open), At least a mile to walk to the nearest pub/restaurant, single bed mattress could do with renewing in family room. All minor points though, we'd stay again.
Review 48:Hosts, Parking, Breakfast, Clean, Pet Friendly, Near Channel Tunnel, Excellent free Wi-Fi.
Review 49:We felt instantly welcome and greeted by kind and friendly staff and of course what made our stay even more pleasurable, was we had Hector our lil puppy with us and even he felt like he was home from home !! We even had an offer to puppy-sit him while we were at the wedding !! We will definitely be returning as the location is perfect - along a beautiful walk opposite and an unspoilt and un-busy beach just the otherside - perfect!! Would definitely be returning and would sell as a Travel Agent to my clients x

Review 57:My only problem was controling the shower temporature, but a small problem and did not detract from a good stay, though brief as I was only in the area 1 night.
Review 58:Great breakfast and quiet at night.
Review 59:The shower cubicle in the room was very small but functional and ok for a night or two.
Review 60:Motor Bike was able to be parked around the back away from sight. Ideal for the Chunnel as only minutes away. A mile to the town which has plenty of places to eat with a decent pub. Excellent full english quality breakfast with plenty of coffee etc. Would definitely use again as in a far nicer location than Folkestone!
Review 61:Tried to give us a room without en suite facilities upon arrival even though we had booked en suite but rectified to en suite room after being shown the on-line booking confirmation. No wardrobe in room only rail with 6 coat hangers. Sea view very distant.
Review 62:Breakfast choice very good and service. Bed comfortable. Nice modern en suite facilities (after initial "mistake" rectified). Room No 2
