Reviews for Hotel de la Gare Troyes Centre

Review 1:We booked the underground car park for 7 euros and the spaces were very small and surrounded by concrete pillars and were difficult to access. We intended to leave early the following morning to catch a ferry home, only to discover that on Mondays the reception didn't open until 8am and the entrance to the car park was locked which caused us a major delay in our departure. The hotel premises was in a block of derelict buildings which did nothing to enhance the experience. I don't think we would stay there again.

Review 2:The room was comfortable and clean and the staff were friendly and as helpful as they could be.

Review 3:No lift. Unfortunately we were on the 2nd floor which, in bike leathers and boots, was hard work to carry luggage up to our room. Narrow staircase with funny shaped steps round the corners.

Review 4:Great location for old town where there is a great choice of restaurants. Underground carpark was good, 7 euros a night. There's a 10 minute dropping off layby outside the hotel, you check in and then drive round to the carpark at the back, very secure.

Review 5:We booked very late and the receptionist rang to make sure we would be able to enter the hotel without any hassle. The room was so spacious and the bed nice and big. Lovely decor throughout the hotel.

Review 6:We were given a dark room (just a window facing a narrow corridor). The staff kindly offered an alternative room after having complained about the situation, but the new room was located on the first floor. We preferred to stay downstairs in our dark room since there is no lift in the hotel (and we were traveling with a baby

Review 7:Clean and comfortable.

Review 8:No air con and small bed for a 6ft 15 year old. The breakfast was pretty poor compared to other places we have stayed.

Review 9:The room was comfy and did not have the aroma of stale smoke like other places in France.

Review 10:Room little small, but stay ruined by Booking.com and their failure to notify us of check in time and now being made worse by their attempts to lie about it being the fault of the hotel!

Review 11:Good location, clean room

Review 12:Not a dislike but a comment Tea coffee kettle etc in room would have been great

Review 13:Handy for train station Comfortable facilities however new hair dryers would be good !!

Review 14:On our return trip we were relocated to family room. The decor was dated with several bulbs not working, there was no AC so it was very warm. With the windows open it was so noisy all night, plus outside lights going on and off. Terrible night, no sleep, wasn't very happy.

Review 15:The double and triple rooms were very nicely decorated and fresh, with great air conditioning. Superb night's sleep.

Review 16:Breakfast was busy and tight for space around the buffet serving area.

Review 17:Good location for exploring city centre. Free parking opposite hotel on Sundays. Quiet and comfortable room, nicely decorated but limited view from window.

Review 18:The shower was not so clean or at least it did not look clean, black between the tiles, they should do something about that.

Review 19:The Receptionist on our arrival was very nice and very helpful. She gave us a map of the town and showed us on the map where the restaurants were and which one not to use which is good to know.

Review 20:there was no air-conditioner in the rear part of the building and wifi-did not work in that block either

Review 21:location close to the station, comfortable with the luggage, no need for transportation

Review 22:this is not a dislike but a comment. must be a UK thing but a kettle with tea/coffee facilities in room would have been brilliant also a "real " hairdryer would have been better

Review 23:Doors locks a bit stiff, not really a big deal. We requested to buy some coffee to take back to our room I the morning only to be told no take away. Mc D's 5 euro gain and the hotels loss.

Review 24:Good location, good welcome, good value, for a stop off it was perfect.

Review 25:Room looked out to narrow passageway and wall of adjacent building. No aircon made it uncomfortable in July heat.

Review 26:Good location nearby parking and pleasant walk to town centre.Reception and breakfast room were pleasant areas.

Review 27:Staff very efficient and helpful. Rooms not tremendously large, but the most is made of the space with modern fixtures and fittings. Breakfast staff very efficient at restocking items as they were close to running out. Great value!

Review 28:Very helpful staff. We were delayed (unavoidably) and phoned ahead. The receptionist was very helpful and gave instructions for our arrival should it be after 10 pm. As it happened we arrived earlier and she gave helpful directions to a local wine bar. It really was a good recommendation. Hotel well placed for seeing this beautiful old town. We were there for less than 24 hours , but thoroughly enjoyed it .

Review 29:Had to upgrade to superior as the comfort double was boiling hot with no real ventilation. Superior room was small but cool & fresh but no assistance getting bags up to 2nd floor

Review 30:Good bathroom

Review 31:Very close to centre of town good value easy to find if driving into Troyes. ( follow signs to 'Gare' ) good parking opp hotel Clean comfortable rooms

Review 32:One of the reception satff can not speak in English, It was defficult to talk with her.The supperor double room on the 3rd floor is very small, and I could no stand up in the room and could not sit up straight on the bed. It was not the same room as that room photo in the booking website. The reception staff chould not explain and said "no possible change room today, change room only tormorow". Although they have changed my room on the 2nd day,I am very disappointed.

Review 33:location

Review 34:Slightly corporate feel to it - more of a business hotel and therefore less characterful for the tourist.

Review 35:Clean and efficient. Pretty good breakfast. Very friendly front desk staff, who were helpful. Useful to have use of the underground carpark, but would be very convenient if you were coming by train.

Review 36:Not much to dislike other than the parking. It is in a public square and not clear about where we were allowed to park. Small issue!

Review 37:Very helpful staff. We were on a long journey fro UK to Valencia and we're running late. We phoned ahead for the access code and were answered in English! Keys left out and all worked well.

Review 38:3 flights of stairs to carry your own luggage. The room at the top has sloping ceilings so look out you don't collect a bump on your head. The room was tiny and given the head room on one side was non existent they should let this as a single room only. I was very disappointed.

Review 39:The breakfast at €9 was ok but nothing special. It's close to the train so would be convenient for train travellers. Walking distance to the old town which is beautiful

Review 40:The bathroom was a bit small.

Review 41:The hotel is close to the railway station and 5-10 minutes walking from the historic centre. The staff were friendly. The room was clean and quiet. Wifi working fine. We did not use the hotel's parking but we parked just across the street and as it was a holiday, we did not pay anything.

Review 42:There were noises coming from an ajdacent room for a few minutes, so we assumed the walls were not sound proofed, but thankfully they stopped after a few minutes.

Review 43:Very clean and comfortable and the hotel is in a good location.

Review 44:Car parking in the hotels garage space was a chore. It was some distance away and on leaving you had to return to the hotel to drop off the door opener.

Review 45:Newly decorated room. Comfy bed. Helpful staff. Breakfast was worth having.

Review 46:The reception area was smart, warm and welcoming on a cold wet night. The room was very comfortable with good bed and modern facilites that all worked. I didn't try the wi-fi. Good choice of restaurants nearby. I was just passing through and the weather was poor but I'll definitely visit Troyes again and stay at this hotel.

Review 47:Staff friendly and the family room was large and comfortable. When I rang to request a cot I was told that the room was on the third floor and there was no lift, so was able to plan accordingly. I was worried about the parking but there is lots of parking across the road at just €3 for 4 hours and free overnight, so we didn't bother with the hotel parking.

Review 48:Hotel parking facilities is bit tough. Only a few spots and it's not easy to access the garage. You also have choice to park across the street or nearby if space available. (It's free over night until next morning)

Review 49:Good location within a few minutes walk to the center. Simple breakfast but it's ok. Staffs are friendly and try to help.

Review 50:newly refurbished in a very cavalier manner; very small room; shower a death trap with slippery incline and vicious thermostat (you end up either burnt or frozen). Poor air circulation.

Review 51:easy to find, parking easily available. reasonably close o centre

Review 52:No elevator - had to lug a heavy suitcase up two flights of stairs. Location was good because of closeness to train station, but the area was unappealing.

Review 53:The room I had was huge and quiet. Staff was very helpful.

Review 54:No space in bedroom and no storage in bath room ( no shelf )

Review 55:Location is excellent , staff very friendly and helpful , good parking across the road.Room well done but a tad small for more than 1 or 2 nights

Review 56:There are four car parking places with hotel at 7 euro's per day. However, to get to the hotels underground car park, you have to drive through other underground car parks. Although clearly directed, the spaces are very small (2 normal width, 2 very narrow) trying to get your car into the right angle to park is difficult. It's not worth the hassle. There are plenty of roadside parking spaces opposite the hotel.

Review 57:Excellent location for exploring this beautiful town.

Review 58:Room smelt a bit funny.

Review 59:Good location, close to city centre and restaurants. Convenient stop en route to our final destination. Spacious room. Breakfast was enjoyable and buffet well organised.

Review 60:No mention of lack of lift prior to arrival. Luckily our room was on 1st floor ... ( we are now in our 80s & not as agile as we were!! )

Review 61:It's central location easy to find with local parking

Review 62:This hotel was perfect! 3 minutes from the main train station with close walking distance to the old centre, very clean and modern, helpful staff that offered suggestions on the city and spoke excellent English, willingly. Thank you to this hotel for an unexpectedly great stay at Troy!

Review 63:Even if we had requested much in advance a crib for baby in the room, it was not there when we arrived. The receptionist had to help us to unfold and install it. The hotel has no lift, and it was quite a challenge to go upstairs and downstairs with kids and luggage. The deco shows signs of decay.

Review 64:The location of the hotel.

Review 65:There was no air conditioning so the rooms got very hot in the night. You could hear a lot of noise coming from the stairwell, other guests, during the night.

Review 66:The staff were very helpful and friendly and recommended some lovely restaurants. Lovely big rooms.

Review 67:Underground Car park spaces very tight.

Review 68:Good for city centre. Lots of choice of eating places within easy walking distance. Reasonable parking opposite hotel.

Review 69:The breakfast area was cramped making it difficult to walk around the centre isle were the self service breakfast was, without bumping into chairs or other people. The breakfast itself was good though.

Review 70:Immaculately clean, plentiful supply of clean, soft white towels and several toilet rolls. Comfortable bed. Very quiet room, seemed like it was sound proofed. Nice cool temperature, with cosy warm duvets, so not stuffy and no noisy air con. Good parking opposite hotel.

Review 71:The organisation during breakfast is terrible. They are a bit understaffed so you often had to wait for refill of the buffé. The buffé is around a pillar in the middle so you have to almost climb over each other because the room is to small.

Review 72:This is the second time we stayed here. Last year we stayed during renovation, this year it was finished. Easy to find parking across the street. Staff is nice.

Review 73:The lighting in the room was very poor. We hadn't booked a Triple roo - but that s what we got - at a hgher price - but there was no room for change. Need to be more vigilnt beforehand. Coffee rather weak for France!

Review 74:It's location. Room very quiet. Wifi was very good. Shower good. The breakfast was well stocked with a good variety.

Review 75:Room was very small for 2 people. Breakfast was ok and location perfect for seeing the city. Overpriced for what you get but France is overpriced with everything you buy.

Review 76:Room not that well ventilated. Breakfast room a bit of a tight squeeze.

Review 77:Close, convenient parking, comfortable beds, walking distance to busy town centre.

Review 78:Good size rooms, with good facilities and free WiFi is always a bonus. Parking opposite the hotel was a bit tricky to negotiate at first but was fine once we were there.

Review 79:Nothing really.

Review 80:Traveling with young children, just a playground opposite the hotel. My kids love it. Public car park just opposite the hotel. Hotel no lift but no problem for us. Very satisfied with the hotel.

Review 81:View from the bedroom Building next door is run down

Review 82:Comfortable beds Fantastic bathroom & shower 5 minutes walk from the city centre Excellent breakfast Helpful & friendly staff Secure parking Great value

Review 83:The only change I would make is to upgrade the bathroom toiletries to match the overall hotel upgrade. A small bar of soap is provided, but some shower gel/shampoo and some hand/body lotion would also be much appreciated.

Review 84:This hotel has had major general refurbishment recently and is now very worthy of its three star rating. It is located 2-3 minutes' walk from both the train station and the closest restaurant (Asian) or snack bar (Turkish). They do have a parking area, but there is also public parking just across the road and also around the corner (outside the station). The staff is friendly and very helpful. The rooms are nicely appointed (note that the new matrasses are very firm) and the continental breakfast buffet is small but very nice. They serve a limited evening menu if you do not want to go out and they also have a small bar. We had a nice 2-night stay. This was not our first stay at this hotel and it won't be our last. Good job!!

Review 85:Nothing all good.

Review 86:Friendly staff, fantastic location ( 8 to 10 mins walk to the town centre) great atmosphere in the town square loads of restaurants to chose from, hotel parking, fantastic breakfast.

Review 92:convenient for city

Review 93:Clean. Helpful staff.

Review 94:The price was higher than the room's quality deserved

Review 95:Location

Review 96:The desk was only open after 4pm.

Review 97:Would of liked access to our room or hotel before 4pm as a very hot day.

Review 98:The receptionist was very helpful.

Review 99:No air conditioning

Review 100:Very helpful staff we were very late and they gave us the door code and left our key on the desk

Review 101:Breakfast was terrible.
