Reviews for Stanley House

Review 1:I had paid for the total accommodation in cash on my departure date after the staff said that deposit was taken as the card was only acting as security. But I have just found that a charge of $214.87 was taken from my credit card. As such I have paid a lot more for this accommodation. After the incident with the previous booking, I am very unhappy with booking.com. I demand a return of the amount taken from my credit card.

Review 2:The operating staff was very pleasant.

Review 3:The drive through hardknott pass to get to it but we were told there is an alternative route so we would like to come back. Do not use your sat nav!

Review 4:The way they added a special touch to our honeymoon by putting hand picked rose petals on the bed and a bottle of prosseco on the side for arrival.

Review 5:The wifi is fine but you need to move around the room to find a hotspot up stairs.

Review 6:Friendly and welcoming staff, lovely suite of rooms with spacious bathroom, and fantastic location with beautiful gardens.

Review 7:No staff at Stanley House - 1st staff member had to apologise for hot water not on , tea making facilities (which he fixed) and breakfast not included which for the price it should have . Otherwise once we got used to the knowing there was no-one else staying there , we liked the quiet and had b/fast at the Woolpack Inn - next time we would stay at the Inn . Honest opinion is Stanley house is not quite ready for guests yet - needs a few things cleaned up and made more presentable.

Review 8:Quiet location - fabulous & stunning local scenery the best we've seen

Review 9:Through we had Sat Nav, would have been nice if a sign post or two were placed as one might think twice as the drive in to the facility is about 45min, to give some assurance, since mobile connectivity is not available on this route.

Review 10:Wonderful, location by the stream, clean unpolluted environment.Good breakfast. Nice two bed roomed family unit was clean and comfortable. Will definitely want to go back and spend more days. Through the drive to the location was narrow, the terrain and environment was beautiful and the the drive is worth it. If one is not too adventurous one could also take the coach route to Stanley House.

Review 11:We loved the place, location and the relaxed atmosphere. We especially liked being able to take the dog with us rather than leaving him in the car overnight. All in all a very chilled place.

Review 12:Lovely location, a real mix if good and bad. Furnishings very dated. Many cobwebs, however comfy beds lovely kitchen and breakfast area. Friendly staff.

Review 33:Superb! Lovely hotel off the beaten trail. Friendly welcome on arrival and tour of the house. Very clean and comfortable, with good facilities. Plenty of parking at the front of the hotel. Excellent wifi throughout (if you just can't switch off) and good speed considering the location. Lots of local walks with stunning untouched scenery.

Review 34:somehow our dinner order at the Woolpack must have got lost. Over an hour before any food arrived and then looked (compared to what we'd seen come out of the kitchen) to have been cooked in haste, But apart from that it was a wonderful weekend.

Review 35:staff were main highlight, and that it was animal-friendly (although we don't have one. Felt at home. Great idea to be able to make lunches and snacks. Breakfast very good and excellent supply of coffee. We had two bedroom with one bathroom and this worked very well, Very quiet at night and comfortable beds. Idea of linking with pub is good, but we were disappointed with the food there. But, able to do any number of walks from the front door and railway also on doorstep

Review 36:Room and en suite quite small, fine for an overnight stay but wouldn't like such a small room for a longer stay.

Review 37:Setting by the river and the garden and trees. Very friendly feel with the staff all open and welcoming. Open kitchen policy so you can make yourself a picnic or snack.

Review 38:We were there only for three days :(

Review 39:Friendly staff, room was comfortable, great view on the garden and river. We could take whatever we liked for our packed lunch. Good choice of breakfast varieties.

Review 40:Staff not always immediately available Overpriced compared to other establishments Didn't have enough bath towels on arrival

Review 41:Location Breakfasts - although could have more fresh fruit on offer Narrow gauge railway stop opposite the road Easy walking distance to pubs Good walks suitable for younger children

Review 42:rooms not cleaned daily, and you were charged extra if you wanted clean towels daily. seems like a side line to their main business, the pub down the road. no one to meet us when we arrived, had to call up. had to ask for toilet rolls. not well organised at breakfast, waiting for staff to turn up. running out of bread and cereal. felt it was over priced for what it was

Review 43:staff were very friendly

Review 44:Absence of a member of staff on our arrival and departure, perhaps due to being early in the season. An explanation of procedure at time of booking would have helped.

Review 45:Country house living without the formality.

Review 46:Great location. Friendly welcome and made to feel at home throughout our stay.

Review 47:i love this room so much. gave me great time when i stay with my boyfriend. i will strong suggestion to my friends。
