Reviews for La Bastide de Vaison
Review 1:Owner did not seem friendly when we first arrived but was more welcoming later. Rooms very small and a bit tatty.
Review 2:Outdoor area was good. Nice pool. Value for money
Review 3:Misleading indication on booking.com as to how far it was from the town centre. And I was told that cash was the only method of payment when my booking confirmation said they accepted credit cards.
Review 4:Lovely place with a great swimming pool
Review 5:having to leave for the UK and its poor weather...
Review 6:Great weekend away sampling Mont Ventoux and the cycling around the area, staff were friendly amenities were adequate and comfortable, we will go back...
Review 7:Hotel is a short drive into Vaison-la-Romaine which is a lovely little town. The Hotel has a swimming pool and the staff were friendly. Fine for a stop over hotel.
Review 8:- Breakfast - if you have an option, then do not take the breakfast in the hotel (not good value for money, one of the worst breakfasts I have ever had in the French hôtels) - it is better to go to the centre instead for a breakfast in one of the cafes- behaviour of the staff - lady at desk was a bit rude, making some strange comments that our reservation is the one coming from booking.com, she also does not seem to speak English at all - we stayed in the standard double room, which (we learnt then) is considered as the worst and the cheapest one (65 EUR per night), and she treats you accordingly - bathroom deserves renovation - parking - the access road is not maintained, so be careful if you have a low chassis - location - it is placed in the middle of nowhere, around 7 min drive from the centre
Review 9:The property is really charming - in provencal styleswimming pool
Review 10:Room could have been cleaner - bed remade but floor not cleaned or bin emptied. B'fast is not good value same cost as eating in the square but not so good. Rooms at front will be noisy due to nearness of the road. Wifi very intermittent. Owner kept turning off heating during the day (in March) and had to be reminded to turn it back on.
Review 11:Location is good near Vaison.
Review 12:No elevator. Breakfast seemed an afterthought with warmed over croissants. The host does not speak English.
Review 13:Beautiful old farmhouse with a view of the vineyards. Quiet, comfortable room.
Review 14:The mattresses are very old in the large suite for family of 4. My wife and kids received terrible bed bugs bites from sleeping there. We noticed the beds were old because when we slept in them, they would creak and the master bed was lop-sided. We were itchy and swollen for a whole week after and when we reported this to La-Bastide with photos and all, nothing was done about it. Not even an apology email. Very disappointed.
Review 15:Quaint hotel with lovely grounds. Clean, refreshing pool. We found the hotel very comfortable, quiet and a great value. We didn't have the breakfast. The hotel is not within walking distance of Vaison-La-Romaine due to unsafe walking conditions. The drive into town was easy and plenty of free parking. We would love to stay here again!
Review 16:Staff was extremely friendly. Very historic and rural! Breakfast was excellent!
Review 17:Room small for 3 people.
Review 18:Lovely courtyard for breakfast.
Review 19:Parking
Review 20:The swimming pool
Review 21:the rooms on the road are noisy, walls between rooms are too thin so you can hear your neighbors speak, decoration is outdated and charmless, carpet on the walls are very bad for people with dust allergies.
Review 22:the old building with stones is beautiful
Review 23:on road with a little noisy traffic; staff/woman at desk could have been more friendly
Review 24:felt like in a Provencal house; good value for money; small bathroom with "mini" shower
Review 25:Loved the setting- charming ambience of country "chateau" with modern conveniences. Pool was a welcome relief after a hot day biking the beautiful countryside. Loved the breakfasts in the outdoor courtyard. Conveniently located.
Review 26:The pool looked beautiful in the pictures on booking.com which was whywe booked. It turned out to be very run down with large black antseverywhere and very old tatty sun loungers. The bedroom was very darkand the bed was uncomfortable. I understand that the place was supposedto offer Provencal charm but it looked more run down and unloved thanshabby chic. The owner or manager who greeted us was very unfriendly andunhelpful with any information about the area.
Review 27:Not a lot to be honest. It looks quite pretty from the outside.
Review 28:The room was quite small and could need refurbishing. Bed mattrace also. The bathroom was very old fashioned and the shower was only hanging over tap which made showering very difficult. It is a good place for a 1 night crash, but if you are planning to stay longer you may want to go elsewhere where room standard is higher.
Review 29:The exterior and set up of the hotel - very special and charming. It also has a swimming pool for relatively low room price. The pool was not prepared yet when we stayed but anyways it was too cold. Hotel is easily accessible by car and within 5min drive to the Roman old town.
Review 30:Rude staff (proprietors?) and poor service. Spartan room.
Review 31:Lovely old building.
Review 32:Arrogancy of the owners.
Review 33:Nicely restored villa
Review 34:The ambiance was excellent. Terrific setting. The inn keeper was kind and charming. The breakfast was a delight!
Review 35:The Lat. Long. directions took me to the cemetary!
Review 36:Delightful breakfast location outside
Review 37:Breakfast was good. Could be more imaginative. eg: Local produce. Good bread.
Review 38:Friendly welcome. Useful local information.
