Reviews for The Wellington Cromer

Review 1:As yoou will have guessed its the parking problem and I don't see how one gets round this. Even thoiugh we were on an upper floor the stairs weren 't a problemComfortable, enjoyable

Review 2:Thoughtful and helpful staff at all times - including the dining facility. A great effort had been made to transform an older sound structure into a modern B and B facility with real success

Review 3:Nothing to specifically dislike -the accommodation was adequate for our need.

Review 4:Very close to the sea, the town and easy access to thursford via car (the purpose of our trip)

Review 5:Breakfast was good, but not available until 9:00 am which makes it a late start to get on the Weaver's Way trail (or Norfolk Coast Path if you were walking in the other direction).

Review 6:Super friendly staff. Great location.

Review 7:the building it's self was very old so we had to walk up a few winding stairs to get to our room.

Review 8:This place was right near the sea and the pavilion theatre which was the reason I book it as I was seeing a Michael Jackson tribute act there so it was only a few minutes walk away

Review 9:The shower. The water pressure was so weak. There is no on-site parking space. We parked ours at nearby long-stay parking lot (£5 for 24 hours).

Review 10:We loved their breakfast! Also it was so conveniently located for all the restaurants and to the beach. People were very friendly too.

Review 11:Excellent location, just above the pier. So a perfect place to stay if you've come for the show. Staff were friendly and competent and the breakfasts were splendid. We had a very pleasant couple of nights stay.

Review 12:The breakfast was disappointing. Tea was not available. Filter coffee took 30 minutes to make because of poor equipment. Asked for a full English Breakfast without baked beans but arrived without several other items.

Review 13:Bar staff very accommodating and helpful. Room and premises extremely clean. Everyone we dealt with was cheerful. Man serving breakfast was really helpful and tried hard to make us feel catered for.

Review 14:Stairs a bit steep and narrow going up for us old 'uns only because of weight of suitcase.

Review 15:Really friendly and lovely staff. Comfy and spotless bedroom. Food good, top notch breakfast and dinner.

Review 16:Only thing that lets it down slightly is that there is no parking.

Review 17:I booked this hotel for my sons birthday. I asked for a bottle of champagne to be put in his room for when he got there & the kind staff went the extra mile & put a ballon in his room too without me asking. My son returned from his stay here full of praise. He told me that room he stayed in was spacious & very clean. Staff were so helpful & welcoming. This hotel is in a great location. The food here was fantastic.

Review 18:There is a slightly strange notice in the en-suite bathroom saying the WC is mechanical and noting if misused it will flood... then a sentence saying something like, 'Revenge may be sweet, but it will be very unpleasant to get your own back'. I found this rather odd and even a bit offensive. (I can only think some of their customers have behaved badly in the past...) Small point, but a bit unsettling.

Review 19:Location very convenient; friendly staff who were very helpful. Breakfast service nice & quick as well. Car parking a couple of minutes walk away, easy to find; you can drop luggage off first at the hotel.

Review 20:kept waiting for breakfast ten minutes then had to ask for cups, then bread to make toast, then plates to put toast on then coffee ran out. When breakfast did arrive it was quite good. Cook explained that he didn't know we were here because he finished the morning before prior to us booking.and nobody has informed him.

Review 21:The room was very clean although the furniture was very old and dated.

Review 22:The Pillows were good but the mattresses were quite lumpy and didn't provide much support. Woke up with a bit of a stiff back. Other than that the room was perfect and nicely decorated.

Review 23:Excellent Breakfast, very friendly staff and the best location we could of hoped for! Nice decor too,

Review 24:Lots of stairs to climb, no mention in details when booking.

Review 25:Lovely room, nice food including breakfast, good choice of drinks in the bar. wifi available but not mentioned in hotel details.

Review 26:No parking nearby. Had to park half a mile away in a local authority car park (£5 for 24 hours). Traffic very busy (gridlock) on our arrival.

Review 27:Friendly staff. Nice room. Comfy beds. Water in the room. Restaurant on site provided good food for breakfast (included) and evening meal (extra) -Try the local crab.

Review 28:That you had to go through the customers that were drinking in the pub downstairs as they were outside smoking it using outside area to sit if it was nice. Should be a separate area for guests staying upstairs.

Review 29:Staff were very friendly and were really good with our little boy. Loved breakfast time and the lady who worked in there was amazing. Thank you.

Review 30:The young boys at breakfast could have explained that you helped yourself to tea etc. and they would come and take your order for breadfast. A little unorganised.

Review 31:Friendly staff on arrival, clean pleasant bedroom

Review 32:WiFi via "The Cloud" was a little clunky.

Review 33:A lovely big room (the "Family" room) with super-comfortable bed and solid furniture. Friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Quiet at night even though right in the centre of town. Delicious breakfast included and super restaurant attached.

Review 34:There is no parking and had to tour the side streets to get as close as possible

Review 35:The family room was ideal for me, my wife and the 2 dogs. The pub is in an excellent central location

Review 36:Nothing to complain about regarding hotel. A pain finding somewhere to park.

Review 37:The friendliness and helpfulness by all members of staff. Food in restaurant very good including breakfast.

Review 38:The room though large was very dark and the dark furniture and doors didn't help with this. Would have liked a bit more choice for breakfast like fruit and croissants.

Review 39:The staff were wonderful and the evening meal we had in the Courtyard restaurant was one of the best I've had :-)

Review 40:Only complaint would be that the breakfast was not very nice - but it wouldn't put me off staying again

Review 41:Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Location excellent.

Review 42:Would have liked the room to be replenished with water, shampoo and conditioner..

Review 43:Was in an ideal spot for looking around Cromer.. only a short walk from where we could leave the car overnight.

Review 44:You have to park in one of the local car parks about 5 min walk

Review 45:This is a locals Pub/Hotel, with good size rooms and a good bed, the food in the Restaurant was fresh cooked and a good price, and a big breakfast.

Review 46:Excellent night away with our dog. Right in the heart of Cromer in a beautiful room in a very nicely presented guest quaters of a traditional pub. The room was quiet, the facilities immaculate and delicious breakfast of locally sourced ingredients.

Review 47:not so much a bad experience but as a lone female i didnt feel i could go in the bar as it seemed like a predominately male clientele. However dinner in the restaurant was very good and i felt comfortable enough to relax and enjoy a last glass of wine before retiring to bed

Review 48:was pleasantly surprised when i was shown to my room .liked the dark furniture and matching wooden blinds. the bathroom was clean and adequate the staff were helpful and friendly

Review 49:Lack of parking means you have to carry your things a short distance

Review 50:Situated centrally in the town the Wellington Hotel is convieniently placed for all town facilties and attractions. Comfortable room with lots of character and a great breakfast using fresh and local produce.

Review 51:Disappointed with the lack of toiletries provided. We only had hand wash in the bathroom. No shower gel, shampoo, or conditioner as expected.

Review 52:Phil, the restaurant manager, was extremely helpful, great to chat with and an all round nice guy.

Review 53:Nothing. They tell you in advance that there is no parking but there is a car park just up the road that you can park in alnight for a 5ver. THis does not cause problems .

Review 54:Everything but especially the staff who could not have been more helpful and friendly (this is the second time we have stayed here) The breakfasts are great and dinner in the Courtyard excellent.

Review 55:no problems-do be aware that parking can be a challenge in Cromer though

Review 56:friendly staff, location near sea front, breakfast and the fact there was wifi despite them contacting me to say there wasn't

Review 57:Checking in at the pub bar. A little noisy. But nothing that would put me off staying there again.

Review 58:Great location very close to the pier. Lovely breakfast included. Liked that you could come and go through a side door rather than through the pub once you had checked in. Tea & coffee facilities in the room.

Review 59:Nothing

Review 60:Friendly,helpful staff. Ideal position. Lovely room with character, recently decorated.Excellent restaurant. Good breakfast. We had a brilliant time!

Review 61:Rooms are located above the Wellington Pub so it's get noisy sometimes. There is only cold water in the washbasin. The shower water flow is very weak. Apparently the heating is programmed to turn off every day around 6pm and it stays off for whole night. The room gets very cold. They serve breakfast (included in price) between 9am and 10am only. If you need or want to go somewhere between 9am you will have to buy a breakfast elsewhere.

Review 62:Good location, close to the train station and the Cromer pier.

Review 63:Difficult to book in over a busy locals bar, Wanted the out standing money for room immediately, Could not order a drink on the room and pay later, We arrived at the restaurant to find it closes at 8.30pm in winter we were not informed of that and so had to eat elsewhere.

Review 64:Location, Room value for money, Very good breakfast and helpful gentleman serving.

Review 65:NO CHAIRS IN ROOM A COMMON MISTAKE THAT HOTELS MAKE WHY WHY WHY DOES ANY BODY NO.

Review 66:ALMOST EVERYTHING AND THANK YOU FOR BOTTLE OF WATER AND BISCUTES YOURS LESLEY/GORDON

Review 67:The shower lacked power and the head delivered a limited spray.

Review 68:The location was perfect, the promenade and beach being within less than two minutes walking distance. ALL the staff made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Our dog could not have been made more welcome and was even given dog treats by the staff! Our room though not over large was nicely presented and furnished with a small modern en-suite bathroom. The bed was very comfortable indeed. We really liked the bar which was lively and clearly popular with the very friendly locals we chatted with. Breakfast was good and we really enjoyed the meal on New Year's Eve.

Review 69:The lack of a proper opeingin window in the room - not a problem in winter but would not be good in summer

Review 70:Liked the warm welcome and being taken in early as I was freezing from the swim!

Review 71:Pub was rather noisy as football being screened - however I was aware it's a sports bar before I booked..

Review 72:Excellent cooked breakfast - would have liked option of fresh fruit...

Review 73:Nothing.

Review 74:The quietness of our room which surprised us as the pub part was very busy. The room was very clean and comfortable.Breakfast was excellent.Would def book again.

Review 75:Bed so comfortable...room on the front next to road, but surprisingly & pleasantly quiet.Excellent breakfast.....nothing to complain about...would definitely return.

Review 76:Good restaurant with local food, helpfull staff, didn't try the pub but I guess is good too. Cromer is a fantastic place for hiking but also for those who want to have a 'different' week-end in a beautiful welcoming english town facing the north sea.

Review 77:Stayed for three nights with a young family windows can not open the windows so the room does become a little condensated and I would have liked the fresh sea air.

Review 78:Large Room perfect location clean and although above a pub did not hear any noise

Review 79:No food served on Sunday evening , so had to eat elsewhere, disappointing as the menu looked good.

Review 80:Excellent location, good accommodation. Really good breakfast.

Review 81:Not a single thing disappointed us. We enjoyed our time staying there and travelling in North Yorkshire.

Review 82:The food was outstanding, both dinner (Cromer crab gratin) and excellent breakfasts. The staff were friendly and helpful, and our dog was very welcome and enjoyed himself a lot.

Review 83:A new bottle of water was not provided for the second night. Knowing that one of the residents was on a gluten free diet it would have been nice if suitable biscuits had been provided to enjoy with the hot drinks.

Review 84:The room was comfortable and well appointed. The noise levels were fine bearing in mind it was a public house. Close to the local amenities which was more than useful.

Review 85:A small shelf is needed in the family bathroom, also a collection of toiltries in our bathroom , there was a conditioner, and body lotion, no much use, otherwise towels lovely and white and soft,I also thought there should be room freshner,

Review 86:The location , also the owner was very chatty and helpful, nothing was to much trouble.

Review 87:I am used to sleeping above a bar as I am a publican myself but Friday night really noisy, seemed to be a party going on upstairs,

Review 88:Really comfortable room, well decorated and spotless

Review 89:I know this is a pub and we stayed on a Saturday night, but the band was a bit loud (we are not that young!!) but it would not put me off staying again.

Review 90:Room lovely and clean, very comfortable beds, en suite equally spotless. Staff very helpful, breakfast excellent. The location was great too, only two minutes from the sea!!

Review 91:As to the accommodation! Oh dear! Getting to the rooms was like climbing the north face of the Eiger! You need Oxygen at the top.. As for the room. Bare floor boards, that loudly creak when walked on, bed mattresses made of concrete, and very noisy from the street until after 1.oo AM (OK not the fault of the management, but the room got far too hot of you closed the window) Suggest you close the B & B side and concentrate on the restaurant, (Only 4 rooms won't pay anyway)

Review 92:Staff. Couldn't do enough for you. V. G. Food. Very good; Breakfasts cooked while you wait, and well worth eating. The same for the evening restaurant, the food excellent and the two young ladies worked hard to made it a memorable meal, to both sets of staff. Very Well Done!

Review 93:Parking - but knew that before booking, can get parked a few mins away in side street £FOC.

Review 94:Very close to promenade front by pier. Pub not noisy, breakfast 1st class, defo recommend & would stay again. Cromer great place for all age groups.

Review 95:Lack of parking but once we found the nearest 24 hour parking, which was not far away this would not be a problem.

Review 96:We liked the location best of all. The room was spacious and clean. The food served in the pub was excellent at reasonable price. Breakfast very good.

Review 97:Parking nearby was difficult. We had a room on third floor, it was difficult getting up to room with luggage, narrow stairs. Tiny shower room - adequate, but only an electric shower. Two single beds, one was fine, the one near the window had springs gone in the mattress...

Review 98:Location Friendly & helpful staff Great food....plenty of choice at breakfast Good atmosphere.

Review 99:some flaking paintwork internally but that's being picky.

Review 100:Breakfast was excellent and owner very friendly. Great base for a golfing break - played Hunstanton and Sherringham both very good. Good variety of beers, including hand pump and friendly staff. Good atmosphere. Would recommend.

Review 101:Plumbing was exceptional noisy in the room we were in.

Review 102:nice friendly helpful staff, good quality food, noisy location as you would expect right in the town centre but close to beach, pier and all facilities.

Review 103:Bit noisy on the street, but it's a pub for goodness sake, so it stops around 12midnight. Nice place, nice people, nice food. It's well worth a visit.

Review 104:Close to Cromer Beach and good food in the restaurant.

Review 105:Gents toilets in the pub were rather smelly, mechanical toilet in our room didn't work very well and shower was a bit cramped but nothing that would spoil the stay. Our TV wouldn't work, had to fix the cable ourselves which was disappointing but in fairness we didn't report it either.

Review 106:We loved the very comfortable beds, the staff were exceptionally helpful (allowed us to park our Harley in their courtyard) and friendly, the English Breakfast was included in the price and very well cooked and presented - no road side cafe culture here! Room was well laid out and furniture was lovely. Bathroom nicely supplied with toiletries and lovely clean white towels.

Review 107:No car park, Lots of stairs to room with suitcases, a staff member did help me carry one case to the room on arrival as I also had my partners case while he went to find a parking space.

Review 108:Room nicely decorated. Tea/coffee tray, water, etc Very clean Nice helpful staff Overall a good stay & I would return.

Review 109:Although we didn't hear anything from the pub after 11pm, whoever was in one of the rooms above us were extremely drunk and were talking incredibly loudly as well as crashing about all night. We woke at 2.45am and could not get back to sleep. We saw the two men leave, carrying pint glasses, at 4.30am. An otherwise lovely stay was completely spoilt by this. I'm afraid we will not return.

Review 110:The room was comfortable and nicely decorated. The bottle of water and stick of rock were nice touches.

Review 111:Room was located over pool room, which was extremely noisy until past 11pm each night.

Review 112:Lovely breakfast in friendly restaurant.

Review 113:Comfortable and attractive room, friendly welcome, great location.

Review 114:Everything - breakfast too early so lovely staff made a pack up breakfast
