Reviews for La Roseraie Hôtel Restaurant
Review 1:Stately building with charm. Lots of different common areas. Views of beautiful medieval town. Food was amazing! The restaurant is elegant. Breakfast set us up for each day. Didn't want to leave! Great location central to many sights in the Dordogne.
Review 2:This was an absolutely delightful hotel conveniently located in the picturesque town of Montignac in the Dordogne. The experience was greatly enhanced by the lovely caretakers of the hotel. We hope to return!
Review 3:Our hosts were so friendly and helpful, couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. We opted for the breakfast and it was absolutely delicious, the best of French cuisine. We also loved our room, it was old world charm in all its opulence. Can't recommend highly enough.
Review 4:We had a thoroughly excellent stay at La Rosearie! Wine on the lovely terrace looking at the garden; a comfortable room, a delicious, beautifully prepared dinner in the hotel restaurant, and breakfast in a lovely conservatory! Our host was very friendly and welcoming!
Review 5:I never used the room safe as it was only secured to a wardrobe by twosmall bokts
Review 6:Authentication french with lovely gardens. Good attention to detail.
Review 7:Beautiful hotel in a superb location with friendly, helpful owners. Food in the restaurant was delicious. Lovely pool area. Montignac is a great base for exploring nearby towns and attractions
Review 8:Nothing. Everything was lovely.
Review 9:Everything! Absolutely charming little hotel in an absolutely charming little square in the old town, by the river. Very friendly owner/hostess, even the "standard" room is a good size; full size bath, queen size bed, air conditioning, fast wifi. Worth every cent!
Review 10:The room was very small and view uninteresting. The Internet connection in room was poor.
Review 11:Beautiful setting by the river. Friendly helpful staff who made us feel very welcome. Would book again but for a bigger, better room with a view of the river. Enjoyed an evening meal in the wonderful garden. Lovely character building, nice pool area.
Review 12:Excellent hotel, breakfast and dinners very good. Nothing is too much bother for owners and staff. Not the least bit pretentious and very friendly. All in all our stay of 8 days was a most pleasurable experience. In it's price range it is really good value.
Review 13:Staff very helpful. The food was very good It would 8 out of 10 but certainly above the level we expected. Situated in a beautiful quiet square by the river. We will go back.
Review 14:The hosts were very friendly and were able to offer suggestions for daily activities and in some cases booked an activity for us. The swimming pool was lovely. We found the hotel central to the town and different restaurants.
Review 15:Great room with a nice view A very good breakfast with a good selection of food Location was great with easy access to the local shops markets and attractions WE found the staff very helpful and willing to go that little bit extra when nedded
Review 16:The only very minor point was that an excellent breakfast was let down by coffee from a machine.
Review 17:Friendly efficient staff, lovingly restored old building and good food. Lovely pool and garden to relax in and a welcome for our dog. First class. Also, Montignac is a quiet and interesting place away from the crowds.
Review 18:Two small criticisms: 1: The cold tap in our bathroom produced water that was too warm, and the hot tap was extremely hot. This might have been because of the exceptionally hot weather conditions, and not typical. 2: We would have appreciated more vegetarian options on the supper menu.
Review 19:We greatly enjoyed the hotel's character and atmosphere, not to mention the beautiful peaceful rose garden and the pool. The room was quiet and well insulated, and the air conditioning worked well. The staff were exceptionally helpful and thoughtful of guests' needs. Definitely one of our favourite hotels
Review 20:A Charming Manor House style environment with modern facilities. Rose garden has both a Swimming pool, and "Wild Pool" complete with singing Frog. Despite attempts to kiss it my Wife failed in her attempt to "awake the prince", and had to settle for Husband in the "Don Juan" Bedroom complete with 4 Person Bed!
Review 21:Wifi not consistent in room- but plenty of common lounge areas to use it.
Review 22:Our smaller room with view of town was comfortable to have a rest day from our busy travels.Initially difficult to find, hotel was excellently located within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants. Garden and pool would be excellent in warmer weather after a day of touring.Great breakfast -fresh produce, good variety.Very friendly helpful staff-excellent knowledge of local tourist attractions
Review 23:Heavy footed neighbours in the room above
Review 24:I was made to feel so welcome by the hosts, very homely feel, sweet room, all the facilities I could have wished for. Delicious breakfast, great location, easy parking, would definitely stay here again.
Review 25:The limited (but excellent) menu did not change much in the week we were there, which was a shame as we really enjoyed the evening meal we did have.
Review 26:This is a very nice hotel with friendly staff and easy parking. We had a very comfortable 1 week stay.
Review 27:I felt I found the perfect little Hotel in a small original historic village. The staff were fabulous. I stayed 2 nights and would have stayed longer if I didn't have bookings elsewhere
Review 28:The WIFI did not work in our room and the bed was beautiful and comfortable but too small if you're used to superking size at home.
Review 29:The building has a great location, plenty of character and has been sympathetically restored and brought up to modern comfort standards. The decor adds some charm and stays away from the overfussy, reproduction furniture store feel that these places can have. Very friendly service that was flexible in dealing with requests. The walnut bread in the breakfast buffet was out of this world.
Review 30:All good!
Review 31:This is a charming hotel with plenty of space within the hotel. There is a library and numerous guest setting areas set up for relaxation. It is set within a lovely garden yet just off the main square. In spring when the wisterias and later, the roses are in full bloom, the garden must be spectacular. Staff are friendly and it is family run. Breakfast excellent. An ideal location for basing yourself. There is plenty to see - then enjoy a drink down by the river on return.
Review 32:Booked hotel on bed and breakfast basis but was not aware that there would be no availability for evening meal at the hotel until we arrived. This was due to out of season and hotel quiet. We then had to go out every night and eat. This gave us little choice as most of the restaurants were also closed some nights . If staying out of season this could be an issue.
Review 33:River view from bedroom. Very comfortable stay pleasant bedroom. Breakfast was excellent varied choice. The owners were friendly and helpful. Picturesque setting in lovely square.
Review 34:Price of the room was announced breakfast inclusive, but had to be payed as an extra, which makes it a 20% surprise.
Review 35:Nice building, friendly staff and great breakfast.
Review 36:While not luxurious, the room was comfortable, clean and had a view of the river. A bonus is the various sitting areas which make up for the small rooms. The spacious garden and pool area is also a plus. A good breakfast buffet. The staff were pleasant and courteous. Katia provided us with some good choices for evening meals. No hesitation to stay here again.
Review 37:Nothing
Review 38:Beautiful position in the town, walking distance to the centre. Very helpful hosts, lovely swimming pool, nice breakfast. A lovely French family run hotel.
Review 39:Coffee never hot enough from vacuum flasks.
Review 40:A well thought out hotel in every way. Our room was very good. The breakfast was excellent. Particularly liked all the different lounges, the lovely garden and swimming pool.
Review 41:small thing, but lack of flexibility about any provision for breakfast when we had to go out rather early one morning.
Review 42:Gardens Attractive individual style of decor breakfast position in town and close to the river friendly staff
Review 43:Shower head in bath hard to manipulate; half glass door is movable and awkward; even though we had do not disturb sign on door, the cleaning crew came in every day. It would be nice if the restaurant was open on a regular basis for other than breakfast and served more than cheese and sausage but there are other restaurants nearby.
Review 44:Beautiful hotel facing Vezere River; they have a large elevator; ample breakfasts; helpful staff; comfortable and modern updated rooms; safe in room. Montignac is a lovely town and very convenient to caves, museums and other sights.
Review 45:Location. Opposite the river and easy parking - free. great ground with quiet garden area, rose arbour, pre-dinner outdoor drinks area and a swimming pool that it is a delight to relax around. Our room was big with heeps of space to spread out and overlooked the garden and river. Bathroom spacious too. Breakfast was good and varied. They even provided special bread for my husband. Very nice people run this hotel. It looks quaint and small from the outside but this hotel is far from that. Lots of sitting rooms inside and out. Couldn't recommend it more highly.
Review 46:The owners and the staff were lovely and friendly Food was to die for The hotel and surrounding areas were beautiful and well kept The staff and owners really don't mind you murdering their language and are always willing to help improve your French.
Review 47:Poor breakfast No restaurant Montignac and area was apallingly bad for decent food Would not return to Dordogne La roseraie is a b and b
Review 48:River location
Review 49:Could not fault this hotel in any way
Review 50:This truly an ideal place to stay. The staff are very friendly and the gardens are especially attractive. There is a great swimming pool -perfect to relax in after a day of sightseeing. The hotel is located in quaint square surrounded by half-timbered houses that has plenty of free parking.
Review 51:We loved everything.
Review 52:This has to be the nicest hotel I ever stayed in, old world with a mix of modern, I was immediately sending photos of the beautiful interior and exterior to my family. The owners are very welcoming a d attentive. Montignac is such a pretty town, it has everything, good restaurants by the river, nice little shops (a good brocante, great value down the street from hotel). Unfortunate lately we had only booked 1 night, I wanted to stay by the swimming pool in the relaxing garden. This hotel is perfection at an affordable rate.
Review 53:Everything! The owners are very welcoming and incredibly helpful, lovely building, beautiful bedroom, super grounds, delightful pool, delicious breakfast. We loved it.
Review 54:The fact that we could not stay longer!
Review 55:The whole experience of staying at La Roseraie hotel, the owners were delightful and could not have been more helpful. This family run hotel is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the surrounding area we will return for a longer stay,
Review 56:Friendly owners who had supply of tickets for Lascaux 2, saved a lot of queuing at tourist office, even telephoned and booked English speaking tour for us.
Review 57:Think a little overpriced, especially the bar prices. Also only serves food-(sharing boards) in evening which seems silly as they are perfect for lunch time.
Review 58:Katya and Thierry were lovely. Breakfast plentiful, beautiful location and lovely pool. Hotel was gorgeous.
Review 59:Having to go to another hotel after staying at La Roseraie.
Review 60:Everything! Gorgeous property with rose garden and infinity pool. Rooms with character and comfort. Nice owners. Great breakfast (we didn't dine there). Hated to leave.
Review 61:Poor conditions in bathroom. Impossible shower unless crouching. Leaking water dumping the place whenever tub water was on. Poor draining. Hot water when you wanted cold (and it was summer time). Changing flow of water.
Review 62:The location (river, garden, building). The air conditioning.
Review 63:Nothing to report.
Review 64:Good location close to the river on a large square with ample parking. Good sized comfortable room and bed. Excellent buffet breakfast. First floor library room for guests a nice feature.
