Inn For all seasons

Inn For all seasons descritpion
This unspoiled 16th-century coaching inn overlooks the rolling countryside and offers a warm welcome and good food in a relaxed, traditional setting between Oxford and Cheltenham.
The Inn for All Seasons has been in the Sharp family for over 20 years and is now managed by Heather and her husband Matthew, a classically trained chef.
Matthew creates menus that feature seasonal local produce. The Inn also specializes in fresh fish and shellfish, all delivered daily, direct from Devon and Cornwall.
The rooms with private bathrooms and the four-poster room are all different, and have nice views.
Inn for All Seasons is 3 miles west of Burford - the gateway to the Cotswolds. Bibury, Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold, Cirencester and Chipping Norton are all within a 20-minute drive.
Nearby National Trust properties include Sherborne Estate & Lodge Park, and Chedworth Roman Villa.

Reviews for Inn For all seasons
Review 1:the location & facilities were perfect for our 1 night stay. unfortunately we had to move on the next day due to prior commitments. the menu & food were perfect, especially the oysters. we will definitely stay again when we are in the area.
Review 2:Shame that there wasn't a proper shower! The Inn is situated close to the A40 so there was a bit of traffic noise (then I live in rural highlands in the middle of no where with no passing traffic). Inn is a beautiful building in need of some upgrading but that wouldn't put me off staying there again at the price I paid.
Review 3:Very welcoming staff (David Blakemore standing in for owner). Great menu of fresh fish from Brixton market, opted for a home made game terrine which was excellent and a rib-eye with usual trimmings, tender and tasty. Nice breakfast with pot of coffee kept warm with a tea light (like the indian restaurants) great as I appreciate hot coffee.
Review 4:Service at both meals were excellent at first and seemed to forget about me towards the end of the meal........i gave up waiting to be offered a choice of dessert or coffee......or toast in the morning with breakfast! The rest of the meal was excellent.
Review 5:Excellent welcome, food and facilities
Review 6:Taxis here are a pain. Car/keen walking ability is a must for exploring surrounding area.
Review 7:Lovely staff, feel like you're one of the family, great atmosphere at the inn, bar's big armchairs and fire, delicious food, perfect chill-out experience with a great new years eve party as well. Will be going again.
Review 8:The smell and hygen of the room was horrible towels, beds were not clean and the carpets were sol old not clean and there was a smell in the room
Review 9:Staff was good and friendly
Review 10:The double bedroom would have been too small for a couple but was fine for one. The bedroom was too warm for me. The radiator would have been better controlled with a thermostatic valve. I had too resort to my car tool kit to adjust to a better setting. This was reported and received a promise of future action.
Review 11:The cosyness of the bar / restaurant area The quality of the food
Review 12:No lights on arrival on my first night, due to pub not open?, actually drove past, road is very busy and badly lit. Will be ok next time now I know lay out of car park entrances etc.
Review 13:Meals and breakfast are excellent, staff efficient and polite, reasonable Wi-fi, and comfy room.
Review 14:Rooms were tired, carpet has never seen a vacuum cleaner, more hair on the floor than on my head , bathrooms were very dirty and the showers unpredictably drizzled hot and cold ! , furniture was dusty, linen was stained ! Bath mat was totally thread bare .On the upside , the serving staff were efficient and friendly, the chef delivered some lovely dishes .
Review 15:Bathroom extremely dated in desperate need of upgrading. Tiny 17" TV set
Review 16:Lovely country house Hotel. Full of character. Excellent Restaurant with a great wine list. Beautifull cooked Breakfast. Family run.
Review 17:They're in the process of refurbishing some things, so the bath / shower is a little basic, but I wanted to stay in an old Coaching Inn rather than a modern holiday inn, so it was functional, comfortable, and relaxing.
Review 18:Super food, lovely location and beautiful old building. Real charm. The staff were wonderful throughout.
Review 19:Lovely old inn just outside Burford, staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. Cosy rooms with comfy beds. Accommodated our little dog perfectly. Nice little pub/bar area. I read some of the other reviews and the negative aspects. Honestly?. Those people need to get real, they want/expect the Ritz and it's just not that kind of place. It was everything we expected which was quaint and friendly. I recommend it!! Well done Inn for all seasons!!!
Review 20:First room no 9 wasn't good, as close to kitchen and noise from kitchen ventilation and very warm. Changed to different and much nicer room 7 for second night
Review 21:Friendly staff and excellent breakfast
Review 22:The shower was either too hot or too cold, gravity fed, the Wifi seemed to disappear and there is then no connection as the area has a poor mobile reception
Review 23:Location was spot on
Review 24:Getting back on the road was tricky. Traffic comes around a bushy corner very fast. Did not have a way to accept a credit card without a chip.
Review 25:Great room. Best night's sleep in a very long time. Great proximity to the Cotswolds. Gas station with excellent prices next door.
Review 26:Staff Room Dog poo all over the car park Aggressive sounding dogs but where suppobably fine
Review 27:Terrible. Facilities where shocking. No shower. Spent the weekend hoovering ok the bath trying to wash myself with cold water The fog also came home with fleas. Staff member when we arrived was extremely rude. And given shouted at my friend.
Review 28:The traffic passing by was invasive to sleeping, this was unexpected. Our room was very dusty.
Review 29:We loved the ambience and hospitality of the Inn, the food was great. There was a great sense of history.
Review 30:The location is deceiving. It is nowhere near Burford not even walking distance. A £20 taxi ride one way. It is not even in Oxfordshire let alone Burford. On a very busy rode. Near nowhere. Wifi worked only in the bedroom. Bathroom extremely dated and bedroom decor very tired and needing attention. No hot water one morning and half a bath full the next day. On the Saturday evening forced to go to bed. No owners in sight. Staff said at 22.15 "if you are good we will let you have a carry out drinks". Not even open normal pub hours and nowhere to walk to. Staff rude ! Member of staff stated he was on a two day trial after a skype interview from Oz and would find out today if he had the job. Pleasant staff but most lived in quarters at back of Inn and looked tired a lot of the time. No dress code at all for staff in the restaurant. Kitchen was open to an entrance of the entrance corridor with two dogs freely wandering around and lots of people wandering in and out.
Review 31:The food was of good quality and the owners were very accommodating with giving us a lift when we didn't realise we were so far out and isolated.
Review 32:The fact that it was like staying with friends in their home. Very friendly and relaxed. Very clean. Restaurant excellent both from aspect of good food and also traditional heavy wooden tables with beams above.Tranquil well tended gardens offset the proximity of the A40 road very well.
Review 33:A little bit more attention to cleanliness in bedroom/bathroom (cobwebs, dust etc.) would make this an excellent hotel.
Review 34:Food is varied and excellent, both at breakfast and in the evening. Great atmosphere. Welcoming hosts.Friendly, well behaved dogs. Great location for touring Cotswolds.
Review 35:We felt that chips would look better if dished up in a ceramic bowl rather than an enamel one. Too far away from nearest town for a gentle stroll in lthe evening.
Review 36:Friendliness of all the staff and management. Able to get 3 night booking at short notice, to enable me to celebrate 70th birthday away from home. My orginal plan to do such on the Queen Victoria had to be scuppered at last minute........... on doctors' orders.
Review 37:Poor reception - no-one in charge, willing but worried staff. Owner/manager emerged for payment but didn't engage with us.
Review 38:Quiet, despite roadside position
Review 39:The room was shabby, bathroom mat dirty & we missed not having a proper shower as there was only a bath with shower attachment. We also felt the kitchen was too open as we had to pass it to get to our room & didn't always want to hear bad language & staff being told off!
Review 40:Good central location, lovely evening meal.
Review 41:No serious criticism is warranted
Review 42:The charm of a traditional English Country Hotel as run by a second generation of the previous owner, but backed by a long tradition.
Review 43:Access onto main road a bit tricky at busy times, but would not stop us returning.
Review 44:Everyone very friendly and helpful.Great food.Dog friendly and and amusing banter in the bar.
Review 45:Although the building was old, which we didn't have a problem with, there was no excuse for the poor standard of cleanliness of the rooms and bathrooms. There needs to be a complete overhaul of these suits of rooms.
Review 46:Food was good
Review 47:Horrible, pretentious staff. Actually left my evening meal as was treated so offensively. Was supposed to stay for 2 nights but left as soon as could without breakfast after 1st. Grotty rooms. Totally ripped off.
Review 48:Potentially decent food. Might have enjoyed it if I could stomach it with the service...
Review 49:Difficulties watching a small TV Would have like a small fridge Heavy footsteps in room above mine.
Review 50:Nice and pleasant establishment Staff very helpful and friendly Compliments to the chef enjoyed the food
Review 51:Situated on main road a40. Need cot in room but could only provide for one night of our two night stay due to only one cot. Cot grubby used our own. One breakfast time could not get high chair as only 2 in the hotel and one broken? Toilet 'dirty' on arrival, bed made on day one but room not cleaned...
Review 52:Nice owners, very helpful. Dinner was reasonable and breakfast superb! Nice walk from back of hotel around countryside and quaint villages...
Review 53:The breakfast menu was excellent, everything cooked to order and very efficient staff & friendly staff. We didn't have an evening meal as felt it was quite expensive, but the menu looked very interesting and different. The Inn is very old and has got lots of quirky features which makes it quite unique. Would definitely stay again
Review 54:The shower in the bathroom was not fit for purpose and dangerous because there was no grab rail or slip mat, I did not risk using it. The bathroom and bedrooms were grubby with dead insects in the shades of the lighting. A large dog was allowed in the kitchen and there was dog mess all over the gravel car park. Not enough space for a full review!
Review 55:A meal at "The Lamb" in Burford. A young man in training was very polite and helpful.
Review 56:door to room is glass panels with no curtains, so lights outside in the hall, ( very bright ) on all night, couldn't sleep, ruined our stay.
Review 57:the ambience of the hotel
Review 58:The only issue I had was that they'd put two single beds together which makes sleeping quite uncomfortable if you're not the sort of couple that sleep on opposite ends of the bed. But we did ask for an early check-in so I can only assume that was the only room available that they could offer us that early in the day. At the end of the day - we were only staying for one night, so it didn't seem worth complaining about. I would still recommend this hotel.
Review 59:The breakfast was incredible - I had my first taste of black pudding and I don't understand why people dislike it so much! Eggs were cooked to perfection! The room itself was clean and very spacious. Staff were friendly and smiley - which is always great as we were in a rush to get out to a friend's wedding nearby and very stressed out!
Review 60:What we didn't like was the beds were uncomfortable and the rooms need a little investment to make the hotel up to the standard of the bar below.
Review 61:They welcomed us into there hotel along with our dog. Friend and made us enjoy the stay
Review 62:No disabled facilities for my husband so anyone who has mobility problems needs to check carefully before booking. My husband was just about able to get upstairs to bed, luckily there is a gents on the ground floor for the bar and restaurant but could not wash properly and struggled even to shave as the access to sink was very narrow,
Review 63:Fantastic bed, very comfortable and big as was the room. The food was fantastic and a very convenient location for exploring the Cotswolds.
Review 64:Maybe my fault for not checking breakfast hours, but for a business traveler, starting at 8 is no good, when you have meetings starting at 0830hrs. Most establishments I've stayed at start earlier in the week. Arrived after a long journey as well to a mouthful of abuse by a local bumpkin who had too many at the bar. Worst 3 nights sleep I've had. Situated right on the A40 (about 20yds) to Oxford. My room at the front with no double glazing & trucks/cars rolling by all night. Take ear plugs. Second night I asked if I could just have some cereal in the morning,as the 'big guy' chef had obliged me the first morning & she said yes, but found the restaurant locked the next morning. Best avoid.
Review 65:Some of the staff could not understand English very well which was difficult when ordering your meal. The Building was old but could have done with some updating in the room as a little tired.
Review 66:Friendly owner, good breakfast
Review 67:room was adjacent to extractor - therefore noisy scrambled eggs at breakfast too runny
Review 68:Dinner - fish menu excellent nice comfortable bar not too busy not rushed
Review 69:Phoned my mobile to say my room had been taken (their internet down apparently),booked me into Cotswold Gateway in Burford instead, but cost more money. Please investigate & explain.
Review 70:Ambience, interesting interior, very handy for roads, motorways etc Beautifully prepared and cooked breakfast. Comfortable room. Friendly and helpful people.
Review 71:No curtain at bathroom window. Entrance to residents parking area not easy to see on a very dark night when driving in from Burford.
Review 72:The room was comfortable and nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable even though the mattress was firm which I'm not used to. Food was good, breakfast excellent.
Review 73:Room decoration a bit tired - the Inn is along a busy road. Quieter on the back bedrooms. Neither of these comments would ever put us off to stay again.
Review 74:The food was great & varied - staff very welcoming & accommodating - nothing was too much trouble. Rooms clean & comfortable. Dog friendly with easy access to walking them out. A good area stay in close proximity to other small interesting towns.
Review 75:There was nothing not to like.
Review 76:Everything in this hotel was excellent. The staff, the food, and the warmest of welcomes, where nothing was too much trouble. I took my Jack Russell Terrier with me and there was never a moment when I felt the staff didn't want her there. The owners have their own dogs who roam free and never bothered my dog once. I would definitely stay again and would recommend it as a great base to explore the Cotswolds and surrounding areas from.
Review 77:The location of the inn right on the main road .
Review 78:We had a lovely stay staff and service was very good , the food was great and a good choice of different meals , we enjoyed our stay and would go back very friendly atmosphere .
Review 79:Inn for all Seasons is everything you need under one roof - a pub, a B&B, and a restaurant. Great atmosphere, great staff, great food. We didn't want to leave.
Review 80:Breakfasts were fantastic, the food in general was very good. Staff were friendly and helpful. We were pleased that our room was at the back of the property owing to the property being on a busy road. Generally, though, really good value.
Review 81:plumbing in bedroom old fashioned one shower did notvwork and loose knob on bath tap Inevitable noise from A40 just outside bedroom.
Review 82:Friendly staff excellent dinner and breakfast nice atmosphere in public rooms what you want from a Cotswold pub
Review 83:Cleanliness of Bathroom Breakfast started at 8am and would have appreciated an option to have eaten something earlier to meet my work start time. WiFi was free but unreliable.
Review 84:Parking Price Bathroom products.
Review 85:Noisy location, can't sleep with windows open, not easy to open window anyway. No shower. Too many dogs - even in accommodation areas. Too far from Burford - not sensible walking distance.
Review 86:Good food, nice bar, clean room, plenty of character.
Review 87:The room was a bit small and cramped and the shower was a shower head that you had to hold yourself over the bath, you couldn't have a stand up shower.
Review 88:Lovely hotel setting, clean room and neat. Breakfast choice was great, you could order what you wanted and as much. Waitress staff were very polite, come and go whatever times you wanted.
Review 89:I only had one night there !!
Review 90:The building and bar area had plenty of character. The bedroom was very comfortable, spacious and clean. Breakfast and evening meal very good. Best night sleep in along time! Staff lovely and helpful.
Review 91:my room was shabby with discustingly dirty carpets, the shower needs re-tiling,and a good deep cleaning, in fact the whole place needed cleaning
Review 92:staff were the only saving grace for this Inn
Review 93:Noisy road. It was expected since it is the A40!
Review 94:Front of house staff Laura and Lavinia were excellent, friendly and hard working. They made the stay for us. The large garden and woods behind pub were perfect for the dog to stretch his legs.
Review 95:Bit dusty in room ,a few cobwebs and carpet not hoovered during our 3nights
Review 96:Friendly helpful staff, excellent food at breakfast and dinner, good varied choice
Review 97:A very minor grumble - the bath had no grab rail of any sort and was a bit difficult to exit.
Review 98:A historic building with lots of atmosphere. Very comfortable room and delicious food. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would certainly go again.
Review 99:Very poor water pressure in the shower. Had to prop the room window up to keep it open.
Review 100:Excellent food, very high standard. Very dog friendly which is most important to us. Comfortable, spacious room. Friendly, helpful staff.
Review 101:When we walked into the pub, the manager looked very disapproving of us so we sat outside, There was hair in the bed, faeces in the toilet, dirty valance, dirty drawers, one drawer had a broken knob. For the price I was to pay, I didn't feel it was worth it. Sadly disappointed
Review 102:The food, we had sandwiches for lunch and they were very nice
Review 103:Guests lounge room with fire place was great and breakfast was excellent.Staff in this B&B is very friendly and helpful. Nice time spent overall!
Review 104:Staff very efficient, polite and friendly, food great.
