Reviews for Northrepps Cottage Country Hotel
Review 1:Loved the setting of this Country hotel just outside Cromer in peaceful, pretty surroundings. The accommodation, food and service were all excellent. Ample, safe parking. Would definitely spend time here again.
Review 2:Good warm room, although a function was on that night the food and service to us was exceptional. it was our 40th wedding aniversary so a very special stay.
Review 3:very difficult to find! It was dark when we arrived and apart form one signpost pointing in the general direction there were no more along the long road to the hotel. At one point we turned round as we thought we must have passed it! When we eventually found the hotel - we loved it!
Review 4:quiet location, excellent service, staff very friendly and helpful. Bedrooms small but very comfortable.
Review 5:Room was overstated online and a disappointment when arrived as no desk which it stated and only one relaxing chair and not 2. Menu for evening looked ok but the food was very salty and in the morning the eggs were undercooked
Review 6:Location of hotel
Review 7:The fact that, if we had decided to eat dinner there, to give a specific time of when "in case the menu changes". Duvet far too thick for time of year, giving uncomfortable sleeping. 'Full English breakfast' EXTREMELY disappointing. Upon checking out, was not even asked if we had been satisfied with our stay.
Review 8:Location. Peaceful and relaxing
Review 9:Wonderful peaceful location, staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the hotel itself is packed with character, charm and yet also all modern comforts.
Review 10:Unfortunately, the hair dryer in the room did not work. However, the staff were very apologetic and sorted it out.
Review 11:The staff were friendly and the rooms were clean. The food was excellent.
Review 12:We did have some backache after two nights sleeping there, but perhaps our age had something to do with that!
Review 13:The setting and relaxed feel of the place, the unhurried but smooth service and the lovely decor everywhere. The excellence of the evening meal, in terms of choice and presentation.
Review 14:Pre booked dinner table left waiting over 30 mins!! Guest seemed to to be left waiting while non guest were eating in restaurant!!
Review 15:Staff friendly!! Nice room and good garden!!
Review 16:Staff were extremely friendly, polite and helpful, the hotel was nicely secluded too. The room was clean and comfortable, the bath was great and the food in the restaurant was absolutely fantastic, would thoroughly recommend it.
Review 17:the website said we could ask to book in early so asked for 12-1pm. there was no answer to our request.... got there at 1.50pm and there was no response to our calling out for assistance. eventually a very stern looking lady came and we asked if we could book in. she didn't seem too pleased at this and was a bit offish. she gave us our key but never asked if we needed help with our bags. the room was nice but a bit small and rather disappointing as we paid £130 per night. the bathroom was large and contained a very large roll top bath but overall it was rather grubby. the blind was very dirty....in fact I wrote 'please clean me' in the dust. the toilet seat had seen better days and the toilet brush doubled up as a toilet roll holder. the wardrobe was very narrow. we were there for 3 nights so needed far more space. there was loads of drawer space but how much underwear and sox can you bring for 3 nights. we had to asked twice for the tea tray to be replenished. the bed was only tidied up and not made properly. one day we were picked up by friends who had travelled 40 miles to see us. we asked them to our room for coffee and they were flabbergasted at the room being so expensive. so...... very sorry....but we would not come again a we will not be recommending.
Review 18:the breakfast was nice but we asked is there any plain yoghurt.. still waiting for the answer. had to ask for more tea, sauces etc. waitress not very attentive I'm afraid
Review 19:I really recommend this cottage to have a leisure break. The Elizabeth Fry room was amazingly decorated and up to the detail. The dinner and breakfast were superb. We didn't expect such a great experience and definitely surprised us.
Review 20:Lovely setting and helpful charming staff The rooms were comfortable , well designed and beautifully decorated Breakfast was a delicious treat not to be missed!
Review 21:Only negative I felt was at breakfast, I have never been anywhere before where we were not offered more tea/coffee or toast. Saying this the quality of produce used for breakfast was acceptable
Review 22:Nice quiet location, scenic and well presented clean rooms.
Review 23:Not too easy to find, at least from the directions we followed.
Review 24:Small hotel set in lovely grounds. We stayed in the Elizabeth Fry room which has a charming period feel. The public areas are more contemporary. We enjoyed the food and the overall experience.
Review 25:No negatives at all.
Review 26:Very friendly helpful staff. Great location and excellent for touring the local area. Our evening meal was of a very high standard and an affordable wine list. Breakfast superb
Review 27:Nothing, I loved it all.
Review 28:Attentive staff, isolated situation but with plenty of walks and towns nearby; excellent food, excellent room, all in all a great experience.
Review 29:Carpet in bedroom grubby. Wardrobe only half height so no good to hang dresses. Even though description said free WiFi in all areas it was only possible in one area in the bar. No phone signal at all in the hotel.
Review 30:Room and bathroom very good. Overall room layout very good. Breakfast excellent
Review 31:This hotel requires investment in the facilities on offer. It could do with a leisure centre, ie pool, sauna, steam room! That aside, excellent.
Review 32:The food, the staff and the feel of the hotel is perfect.
Review 33:Only catering for the youngster. Her meals were served on a massive sized plate. The first night she had a pizza. It had a very thick doe base, not attractive I'm afraid.
Review 34:Granddaughter liked the walk in shower. The location was good. We were satisfied with the short break.
Review 35:Amazing setting. The journey down a picturesque lane had a lovely surprise at the end. Very friendly manager, he was able to answer a variety of questions about the locality. Very comfortable room tastefully decorated - every amenity provided. Great bath - perfect for a bubbly soak. Food exceptional chefs special "lamb dish" just sublime. Would highly recommend.
Review 36:Much difficulty in getting WIFI to work - Executive Room! Television dodgy remote not explained. Local information could have been better and given with a welcome.
Review 37:could have had more food items on full English breakfast, such as beans and hash browns, but food was lovely :)
Review 38:good size room, comfortable bed. overall lovely experience, lovey outside scenery
Review 39:The lady who was in charge on our second night who left a new waitress to look after everything while she spoke to a couple in the bar. The lady who served our second breakfast (we had to ask for everything) and checked us out. Not having the bathrobes as advertised on the websites. (awkward in a room with two unobscured windows overlooking the car park!!)
Review 40:The gentleman who greeted us and served us on our first night. The waitress at our first breakfast. The chef. The evening menu.
Review 41:Room was tired and in need of a good refurb. The mattress needed replacing a few years ago.
Review 42:Nice staff, nice setting and a good base for exploring North Norfolk.
Review 43:No bad experience.
Review 44:Most helpful staff with excellent clean rooms. Food was amazing fine dining level with ample on the plate. Just the best from when we arrived to when we checked out. Perfect location and we certainly will be booking again and again.
Review 45:None
Review 46:All the facilities were first class and spotless. We had an amazing stay at this hotel. Would recommend it to anybody wanting to stay in a relaxing country location by the coast.
Review 47:we didnt like coming home and wished our stay could have been longer,
Review 48:location was lovely, room was tastefully decorated, bed gave us a lovely nights sleep, the shower was the best ive had and we enjoyed breakfast. our room provided everything we needed and made a very enjoyable stay, we will be coming back in the near future.
Review 49:If you love hotel breakfasts like me, and used to Hilton - do not go here. A total disaster. One member of staff, that worked almost every day, was rude, unwilling to help and posessed no customer service skills. Furthermore, their dining experience leaves much to be desired, so really, go there and sleep - nice for that, but eat elsewhere....
Review 50:bed was cozy, very well temperered hotel (24/7)
Review 51:The room was very small with no room to move around. A child's d/table had been cut to size. A 4'6" height single wardrobe had been made to fit. Cheap coolie shades. The Bath was in the bedroom and the ex- tractor over the bath fell in, even tho reported earlier, as being unsafe. No heating in the toilet.
Review 52:Being interested in Military History, we were surprised that the staff had no knowledge of Sqn Leader George Barclay DFC, as his father Cannon Barclay was included in a photo on the lounge wall.
Review 53:Was a little concerned about the constant fly's in Dining/Breakfast areas
Review 54:Apart for the premature sounding of fire alarm in the evening the peace and tranquility of our stay was just what the doctor orderered . Fantastic break Thankyou
Review 55:Nothing to not like. Thank you.
Review 56:Staff are very attentive and helpfull, the food in the onsite restaurant is first class "Great new chef", service was great from all,the location is very quiet. Altogether a very relaxing three day stay we would recommend this hotel.
Review 57:Very little but to nip-pick the tea/coffee tray in the room included a coffee pot but loose instant coffee is cleaner and more convenient.
Review 58:Quiet relaxing and peaceful location. Excellent cuisine, comfortable and clean hotel good friendly staff making for a very enjoyable few days.
Review 59:To be honest there was nothing not to like,we had a lovely stay and will be back sometime soon...
Review 60:A mirror and somewhere to sit and do makeup and hair before going to dinner would a nice needed touch.
Review 61:Nothing whatsoever to complain about!
Review 62:Attention to detail ~ robes, tea/coffee+home-made biscuits! Location ~ beautiful, peaceful & quiet! Comfy beds & bedding! Friendly, helpful staff! Excellent food & presentation! All-round a lovely experience and will definitely stay there again!
Review 63:The pillows were very, very soft, the bottom sheet did not fit the bed.Breakfast was not as stated, but what we had was good. When showering in the wet room, you need to be aware of the water as it would soon come under the door into the bedroom.Room carpet stained.Never seem such a SMALL wardrobe!!!!!!
Review 64:The hotel was clean and tidy, staff were friendly and helpful.Plenty of parking with nice surroundings. The breakfast we had was good.
Review 65:I cannot think of anything negative to say about our stay.
Review 66:The friendliness of the staff, the location setting. The food was excellent and the Manager and Chef were easy to approach and listened to suggestions made. We rate this as one of our best ever holidays. The Manager Matt despite being busy with a wedding took time to see us off.
Review 67:No negatives really, couldn't get the TV to work, but I believe it was user error rather than a fault with the TV
Review 68:Excellent room. Very friendly, helpful staff and beautiful location. Decoration, fixtures and fittings excellent, loved the bath in the bedroom :)
Review 69:The food was erratic- my youngest got served raw chicken in a dish which had to be replaced. I made a cafetiere of coffee and on the Saturday and the bag inside was not cleaned out on the two remaining days of our stay there. Not good enough for a hotel of that standard.
Review 70:The location. The rooms
Review 71:Limited phone and WIFI connection ( Great for us.)
Review 72:Location was excellent, staff very helpfull and friendly. The room was clean and very comfortable, the food from the restaurant was excellent. We had a very, very, enjoyable stay.
Review 73:Appeared to be short staffed. Breakfast was awful, not a lot available, poached eggs over cooked & toast underneath soggy. Not really worth the cost of the stay.
Review 74:Clean and comfortable room and evening meal lovely.
Review 75:I can't say we didn't like anything really.
Review 76:The Manager Matt was welcoming and very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. He was attentive to detail and made you feel very special. Excellent service. The food was exceptional, especially the Sea Bass and the puddings were delicious. Everything was beautifully presented.
Review 77:Daily room cleaning needs improvement. Outside lights shining into room all night. En suite bath needs better partitioning in room. No honey or sugar for sprinkling onto breakfast cereal. No phone signal
Review 78:Quiet location, Good food. Friendly staff. Free wifi - made up for lack of phone signal,,, a bit.
Review 79:The bed was very creaky every time we moved. Lack of signal to make phone calls, but they did have wifi so we could at least email.
Review 80:We loved the setting, the decoration and soft furnishings were to a very high standard. Plenty of parking. Great massive bathroom. Lovely duvet.
Review 81:There was not anything I did not like.
Review 82:The location is incredible. The rooms are excellent and the bed was really comfortable. Also the food was superb and good value.
Review 83:Noisey neighbours. 11.00pm loud voices. Noisey crunchie gravel. No loo roll holder. Bath shower too low. No shower curtain. Cost. Modern bar area. Having to book in at the bar.
Review 84:Windows. Bed. Linen. Helpful friendly staff. Breakfast outside on lawn. Nice light coloured room.
Review 85:There was a error in our booking so initially there was no room for us. However, after an initial delay, the hotel sorted that out & gave us a different room for free. one of us had to sleep on a camp bed but they handled their error well given they didn't charge us. Breakfast was nice but the service was slow. They seem to be under-staffed or maybe thrown by a big wedding that was planned for later that day.
Review 86:Room was very nice Location good Handled their error in the booking well - see opposite column
Review 87:Nothing really bit of difficulty getting your phone to work. Although that was no hardship.
Review 88:Calm place , good staffrelaxed with guests. Food was excellent especially the breakfast. Grounds are beautiful. would stay there again without a doubt.
Review 89:we were one of the last to have dinner and felt a little unloved, no one came back after our dessert to see if it was ok or to ask if we wanted coffee. we sat for a good while before giving up on coffee and heading out of the restaurant still not seeing a member of staff.
Review 90:We liked the location of the hotel and thought the room we had was lovely. staff were friendly.
Review 91:Only grumble - finding the place. Some signboards on approach roads would help. We had to ask a lady in her garden the way and she said we were the fourth people to ask!
Review 92:Lovely location, charming room, warm welcome, good food. What more do you want?
Review 93:Executive suite is a misnomer. No curtains, just blinds. Spacial quality lacking. Lounge lacking character that should have represented the architecture of the period.
Review 94:Quiet. Food good. Parking.
Review 95:nothing.
Review 96:very quiet peacefull break. very good staff and good food. good base for touring the north norfolk coast and national trust properties. nice gardens to sit and have a drink or a very nice bar if the weather is unkind. very clean comfortable bedrooms.
Review 97:Nothing!
Review 98:The peace and quiet. The personal service due to having so few rooms. Freshly prepared variety of fruit at breakfast. Comfy bed. Lots of hot water. Very nice coffee. Good evening menu.
Review 99:Evening meals- choice of food on the menu Long wait for food to arrive at the table
