Reviews for Regency Hotel & Leisure Club
Review 1:Heating in the room: not efficient, based on air conditioning machines that starts to flow in the midle of the night, enough noisy to wake you up. The bath furnitures: very old, fixed shower, pipes stuffy, not draining the water from the bathtube... Spa, even excelent and well equipped, outside of the hotel, with public access. Thus, crowdy sometimes and not comfortable for guests...
Review 2:The entire personnel; very warm, clam, friendly and ready to solve any of your problems... The breakfast: rich and diverse. The restaurant: excellent food, nice atmosphere.
Review 3:recepionist was really nice and helpful, very satisfied with a room facilities (hairdryer and kettle...) comfortable bed and nice and warm temperature of a room
Review 4:Bit run down (my bath taps broke and had to be fixed) Noise from a downstairs function until about 1am on a Tuesday night
Review 5:Location Wifi Bath and Bed
Review 6:There was a droning fan nose in our room each day starting at 8am and went on til 10pm. It sounded like the kitchen extractor fan and as the hotel was fully booked there was no other rooms for us to move to
Review 7:The leisure facilities were great, but the bar food needs abit of a revamp.
Review 8:Breakfast was a bit slow but I think that was maybe due to the time we went down for it.
Review 9:Friendly staff who always helped us whenever we needed anything. Great room, really clean. Really enjoyed the access to the spa facilities.
Review 10:City centre was too far to walk to, but good public transport.
Review 11:Excellent value for money! Can't believe we didn't need to pay extra for the spa
Review 12:None so far....
Review 13:The location ,the room , very comfy bed and the excellent pool, sauna and beauty salon facilities. The evening staff are always kind and helpful as usual. I usually stay in this hotel whenever I visit Dublin.
Review 14:a direct access to the spa from the hotel would have been nice. so one does not have to step outside to get there and back. It is however only a very minor complaint.
Review 15:I especially enjoyed the swimming/sauna facillities. The staff was helpfull and friendly at all times. I also like the fact that the location was reasonably quiet at night and still close to town
Review 16:Bar was closed early in the evening and there was no staff to assist us after 9:30.No heating on in the room woke up by the cold in the morning.
Review 17:Room was nice and clean. Good value for money.
Review 18:The leisure centre and the hotel are separate: we get wet going and leaving... The whole place is shabby and the lighting horrendous in halls corridors and rooms. The overall hotel is in a derelict state. The air conditioning not working properly. the bed was hard. I was sent to the 5th floor: no lift from the 4th!! had to carry my luggage on narrow stairs. Yet the hotel was virtually empty! The staff was condescending. No wonder the price was discounted. A horrible experience.
Review 19:I had no towels in the room and asked for some, when brought to the room they were frayed and torn, had to take them to reception and get replaced. We also found the girl (that was cleaning the room) when we were leaving stated we should have been out by 11, this was 11.20 and we were leaving so what was gained by saying that to us
Review 20:I liked the location
Review 21:To think an adult can eat a breakfast of a side plate is reduculas It's fine as much as you can eat but to keep getting up just to fill your side plate things getting cold unable to eat properly Very poor
Review 22:Comfy bed
Review 23:The room was basic bathroom not clean, tv was very small, no air con and the room was very very noisy from tracfic at the front and other guests in there rooms partying etc.. Had to buy drinks in bar carry through to another room where food was being served one menu of just buffet style no off the menu ordering. I asked for upgrade room but told they don't do this? Pool and spa was out side down the street and was a separate private gym that the hotel guests can use.
Review 24:The pool and spa
Review 25:We had a great time. Nothing really to complain about
Review 26:It was close to the city centre and easy to get to via the bus which came every 10-15 mins. Room was big and bed was comfortable.
Review 27:I thought the car park was a little far from the hotel. I think it could have been free for residents.
Review 28:I liked the pool and spa facilities, and i enjoyed the food.
Review 29:Nice quiet location away from traffic. Clean, modern and relaxing. Friendly, helpful and smiling staff who greeted me on arrival Supermarket next door
Review 30:We arrived and checked into wrong room, people already in there, next night no running water whatsoever, couldn't even brush our teeth, nothing done, no water bottles brought to room, nothing. This was an18th birthday treat for my daughter, we had never been to Ireland, our first visit very disappointing.
Review 31:Duty manager on Sunday was very helpful, was very understanding and tried to make the remainder of our stay pleasurable
Review 32:in our first room the toilet did not work. We were moved to another room which was at the back of the hotel and which was very noisy from the air conditioning/ventilation system.
Review 33:Clean and comfortable.
Review 34:On arrival our reception was rushed, little was explained (e.g. which floor our room was on, where breakfast was served and how to get a voucher, where the leisure centre was etc.). These seemed very basic things to run through and we felt we were not the priority of the staff member. However, all encounters with other members of staff were helpful and friendly.
Review 35:Lovely hotel, nice furnishings and room efficiently cleaned each day to a high standard. Well connected by bus to both town and airport.
Review 36:It was hard to sleep at night from outside noise. At two points left without any water.
Review 37:The hotel staff were friendly and the room was up to a high standard
Review 38:The gentleman on reception when we checked in on Thursday night was not friendly or welcoming in any way. As this is the first point of contact when arriving at the hotel after travelling,a pleasant welcome would be Important. On checkout the lady was pleasant.
Review 39:Clean and comfortable rooms, good size and facilities.
Review 40:The staff in the bar were extremely rude. I've never had such poor service in my life! The food left a lot to be desired and was over priced for the flavourless lump that it was. The breakfast was appalling, we ate the yogurt and got food on the way to our destination.
Review 41:The hotel is beautiful inside! Leaves a lot to be desired from the outside, but its absolutely lovely inside.
Review 42:The food in the bar was not good we ordered lamb one medium and one well done. There was no difference they were both too well done
Review 43:Location is excellent staff are lovely
Review 44:Door lock to our room was faulty. Had to be let into our room by staff with a passkey. Reported the fault 5 times. Still not fixed. We were moved to another room with an upgrade. The majority of the staff had not embraced the concept of Irish Hospitity and did not look happy in their work.
Review 45:Location of the hotel.Good bar food.
Review 46:The man on the reception who checked us in was so rude and had no customer service skills. He was also rude to a young couple before us which i brought to his attention , he did not answer me back so i asked him did you hear what i said , he then replied "i did not feel that i was rude" , for 160 euro for 1 night i would never stay again.
Review 47:we liked that it was quiet.
Review 48:Plasterboard ceiling knocked and creaked all night if the window was open. The wind coming in and out caused the ceiling to make really loud creaking noises until the window was closed, in which, the room was then too warm. We hardly slept due to this. We also booked breakfast and paid for it in advance, only to be (Very embarrassingly) turned away at the breakfast que, so we then had to go to the reception with out receipt to verify our breakfast. However the breakfast was terrible, ive had better in hospitals, the orange juice was sharp and very warm, the fry was just pure rotten. Id advise eating elsewhere. Paying €10 for a night parking was extortionate too. €4 tops would be acceptable, and realistically, its not a city centre hotel, and parking should be free.
Review 49:Use of the spa facilities
Review 50:Bar staff were on their mobile phones and also the manager didn't seem to care about the staff manners.
Review 51:the rooms were very nice and Bar food very nice the waiter was very nice as well
Review 52:Nothing in it for the amount of money paid
Review 53:Nothing was pathetic no breakfast and staff not helper ignored us Car park pay full 24 hours on. U should be ashamed
Review 54:This property is a metaphor for modern Ireland. Promises much, delivers little. Top whack prices, poor product. If you want food in the bar accept the fact that drinkers have priority. I tried twice - I gave up after 30 minutes waiting for someone to take my order. Bristling with CCTV cameras internally and externally I have been at insurgent detention centres in the Middle East with less IR kit onsite. The Coup de Grâce was on the morning of my checkout I called reception at 7.30am to notify them of my intention of taking the late checkout option which my status on booking.com allows. I had rang reception the previous evening on 6 occasions to inform them, without getting an answer. I was then treated to a lecture on the hotel Ts & Cs and also told that I had not called the previous evening. I attach pics of my "view" and the "flat screen" TV (which is angled away from the bed on an unadjustable stand - which is fine if you like your optimal TV viewing position to be in the door of the bathroom).
Review 55:The room was clean. The gym is top class but is outside the main hotel property. There is plenty of parking and at EUR9 per day it is reasonably priced.
Review 56:Bathroom was small, some chipping of paint on chairs in room could easily be remedied.
Review 57:Leisure Centre, nice sized pool, didn't use sauna or steamroom but husband enjoyed them, I got a great swim, changing rooms well maintained. Beds in executive room extremely comfy and cosy, pleasant view of city from room, pub and pub grub relaxing and tasty, waiter service attentive and personable, helpful, cheery receptionists. New decor was very attractive, shower very good, general friendliness, breakfast area, food and service very good.
Review 58:The breakfast was awful, the place is depressing, the hot food stops at 10.30, asked for a chicken and salad sandwich but room service eventually brought 2 white bread sandwiches, one of chicken and mustard (!) and one of a watery salad. The staff are indifferent (apart form the bar staff who were great). The much vaunted spa is not in the hotel. The fire doors were propped open at night. Awful
Review 59:The food in the bar was good,
Review 60:We, unfortunately, experienced Dublin in the two recent storms. The windows of the hotel are quite old and the rattled all night with the wind and were drafty. The heavy set curtains did help a bit, but each morning the Windows would be full of condensation and we would have to wipe the window ledges free of water.
Review 61:Parking was great. Staff on front desk were very helpful, especially with information on the toll roads etc.
Review 62:had a couple of nights where there was a lot of shouting because of to much to drink on our floor and the last night we stayed their was young men running on all floors and singing loudly till 4 am till they were asked to leave by police and banned from the hotel.
Review 63:staff very helpful in every department, all staff talked to everyone in a happy maner, and was very polite.food was very good ,Elaine in the spa is very good at her job .room very clean and tidy.
Review 64:Receptionist when I arrived wouldn't have been the most helpful. I do understand that city hotels are very busy however I don't think it costs anything to be pleasant and nice, infact I find it takes far less effort to be nice.
Review 65:The staff wasn't too nice unfortunately and the hotel its own is sort of the old one so it depends on what you will get.
Review 66:It is a traditional hotel kind so if you are staying for a couple of nights, will be grand
Review 67:When we arrived we requested a late check out till 12pm and the woman said that was no problem, the next morning the cleaner was knocking at the door at 10.30 and again at 10.45 both times I didn't answer as we were in bed. At 11.00 another woman came and opened our door and shouted in asking were we ready to leave! Very very unhappy, that is a complete disgrace opening the door to our room when we had been told we could check out at 12pm. Disturbed 3 times!! Violateing our privacy completely.
Review 68:I am really disappointed with the "indoor" pool because it isn't indoor!! You have to walk 150meters out of the hotel in order to get to the pool. Moreover, the staff on the reception were unfriendly and also the value for money is really law!! We will never go back there again!!
Review 69:I like only the food and the staff in the resturant.
Review 70:The hotel is quite dated and needs a refurbishment. one room was great, the other had a faulty door and a loose handle in the shower which was quite dangerous.
Review 71:The location The amenities The room size
Review 72:-
Review 73:I like the hotel and I am impressed with the quietness and peaceful environment. The staff are very polite and welcoming. The swimming area with the sauna makes the place very cool.
Review 74:Leisure spa facilities outside of the main building. Sauna and hammam closed with no info of it. Changing room cold and dirty. Extra fee for car park not included. Little choice variety for the breakfast and not fresh.
Review 75:nice full view on Dublin by night on the 4th floor
Review 76:Breakfast selection could be better. Kettle in the room needs to be cleaned out properly. (Limescale.)
Review 77:Location is conveniently reachable by public transport. Spa facilities are great and easy to access. Room is clean and comfortable.
Review 78:I emailed the hotel prior to arrival to ask if it was possible if they could print my boarding pass for return journey as i was unable to and this was not done and had to do it myself at last minuite.the room was really noisy as it was above a funtion room and. Both nights we stayed we hardly got any sleep and one of the windows in the room was missing . this did not affect the heating but it did affect the noise. We used the pool which was great we booked this hotel only because of the facilities however, we was disappointed that the sauna and steam room was not available and we was told we had to pay 3 euros each for a swimming cap and a further 5 euros for a padlock deposit .we wouldnt visit this hotel again
Review 79:Our room was nice and spacious but the ceiling had damp stains all over it and the shower was extremely hard to regulate. Lady serving our food in front bar wasn't friendly in any way and was complaining how busy it was as there was a poker game on so a lot of people around waiting for food
Review 80:The entertainment in the front bar at night
Review 81:To gain access to the pool/lea sure centre you have to leave hotel and to go building next door. I like to throw on a dressing gown and walk down to the pool and you have the comfort of dressing and undressing in your own room. Advise for other guests bring a track suit as it is easier to be pulling it on and off.
Review 82:Clean comfortable close to city centre
Review 83:The bed was rock hard also we paid an extra £27 for an excecutive suite it was no difference at all from the standard double room my daughter and so inlaw where in. We stayed the same night.
Review 84:The staff where very helpfull and very pleasant.
Review 85:Room was incredibly warm and more staff needed on check in desk when stags and coaches are checking in
Review 86:View from the room of the city at night was nice
Review 87:No breakfast included in reservation. No minibar in room.
Review 88:Free access for customers in a great gym and swimming pool. Good daily cleaning service of the room. Even if the hotel is not in city center you can move easily (reach the streets of downtown and come back in hotel) with high frequency bus service (nr 1, 16, 33, 41, 41b, 41c, 44). From hotel you will be in airport in 20 minutes with bus (nr 16) that you can take just outside the hotel. You can buy the ticket from the driver of the bus! but be sure to have the exact amount of ticket price. Great supermarket near the hotel.
Review 89:The Hotel is under refurbishment. Heating system some night did not work well. Because this is an hotel near the airport the breakfast should include continental items such as croissant and cheese
Review 90:Best view of Dublin city and gardens The hotel is classic and has atmosphere. Complement that a great swimming pool in the leisure center, a comfortable pub that serve very good , home-made food. Staff are very helpful and kind. The view from the fourth floor is fantastic.
Review 91:Asked for a single occupancy room but was given a 2-bed room (one double bed, one single bed). Because of this, the room was a bit too short in space. Some drunk people near the entrance caused some noise. The location is not great unless if you are driving.
Review 92:Good staff, had problems with Wifi but didn't bother as I also had 3G on my phone. The building is a bit old.
Review 93:The manager and hotel staff were rude. The pictures of this hotel are very deceiving, the rooms are awful and dirty. Every time a cab driver picked us up he would say "I've heard that place has gone downhill" he was right. The manager screamed at us for eating pizza in the lobby after being told by two other members of staff this was okay. DO NOT STAY HERE. There are lots of other lovely hotels in Dublin
Review 94:The Spa was good
Review 95:It was a convenient location for us as my daughter was starting college in Marino and the staff were very helpful. The triple room We had was very clean and comfortable and the perfect accommodation for our family.
Review 96:Beds were awful. It was like sleeping on the box spring. Wifi did not reach the room had to go into the hall or lobby to use it
Review 97:Had a great spa. Good location
Review 98:Nothing
Review 99:I have stayed here several times,,,, its a good location on the north side of city,,,yet a quiet location,,, a big friendly hotel, on this occassion I had to alter my booking at the very last minute and even thought I had made the booking through booking,.com the staff both at my very late check in and check out were most helpful and acccommodating, Debbie in particular working on reception at 8.30 on Fri 16th Oct went over and above the call of duty, Many thanks, I will return,
Review 100:Poor wifi in rooms Far from city centre it needs a transport method
Review 101:Location is good in peace enviroment Good receptionist convenient, clean and spacious room. Near national botaniq garden
Review 102:Decor a wee bit tired. Children's menu expensive. Would like to see more healthy options for kids.
Review 103:Lovely meal in bar and super pool facilities. Staff pleasant and efficient and breakfast was tasty.
Review 104:Nothing i didnt like
Review 105:Really enjoyed my stay there i am Coming back on 4th march with friends but there is no availability i would love to stay there at your property and would like you to contact me if there are any cancellation
Review 106:Staff member at check in was neither polite or helpful. The room was ok but rough round the edges with a view of the hotels flat roof and pipework. Towels were not left after room was made up, we had to call and ask for more towels. The leisure club changing rooms were disgusting. And you had to wear a cap in the pool. This would be ok if pre-warning was given to avoid the 3 euro charge.
Review 107:The bar staff were very good and attentive. Room cleaning was of a good standard
Review 108:Tv didnt work for nearly a full day but was working the nxt day. Wifi kept going off and on in the room.
Review 109:Very comfortable and spacious room. The swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna were brilliant! Great location
Review 110:Only grumble would be we returned from being out n were looking forward to relaxing and watching tv only to find no signal. I rang reception who said they would report it to the Duty Manager and have it reset but it never came back and no-one came back to us. It was still gone in the morning :(
Review 111:We have stayed here numerous times due to its convenient location for us, sometimes it is very overpriced due to demand, other times reasonable enough. The reception staff can be hit or miss too but this time we got a nice chap who was very helpful. I didn't catch his name but thanks to him we had a comfortable quiet room as there were alot of parties there for the weekend. The Bar staff however always give first class customer service and this time was no different and we thoroughly enjoyed the food.
Review 112:We paid way to much to stay in that hotel it looked nothing like the pictures online the room was disgusting the view was very bad and the noise from out side the window not relaxing at all !!
Review 113:The second room we got put in was nice loads of space and much cleaner then the first one
Review 114:There was a mix up and my son and his friend were initially refused breakfast, which had been paid for, because staff assumed they were part of a group which had booked in the hotel. This was a little offputting as my son is nervous and suffers from Aspergers syndrome.
Review 115:The staff were extremely friendly and helpful at dinner on Saturday night. The room was very comfortable.
Review 116:the breakfast area was quite slow as this was a very busy morning with all Ireland so more staff were needed.
Review 117:our room was very spacious and beds are very comfortable.
Review 118:I had requested a twin room(thru Booking.com) as thought a friend was coming with me. I got a double room and if friend had came with me I would have had to change room.
Review 119:Room was nice and food was good
Review 120:The room did have a terrible smell. We were also allocated a room on the 5th floor which you had to climb & drag cases to which if are heavy is not nice. Put the no disturb sign on door as I did not want room cleaned and I had gone downstairs when I realised I forgot something & had to go back up to see someone cleaning it which I was very upset about. The girl I met on arrival at reception was not very unhelpful.
Review 121:The location & bar staff.
Review 122:A bit of a clean up required outside on the flat roof. Other than that, very clean!
Review 123:The hotel was very nice, clean friendly, quiet relaxing and tidy. The leisure centre was top notch
Review 124:Nothing . Took good
Review 125:Everything . Great staff . Well done . I Travel a lot and this is so nice . Comfortable and clean . Great people . Highly recommend .
Review 126:The breakfast. But if I wanted something better I should have opted for a 4* hotel. The breakfast was basic for vegetarian but in every 3* hotel it is like that so I cannot complain too much. The only actual bad point was that the smoking area was next to the playing room which is bad examples for kids.
Review 127:The leisure center. Staff nice (but actually everyone in Dublin is nice- except bus drivers). Not in the center but 10 minutes in bus from the center (15 minutes when traffic). 3 or 4 buses are going from the hotel to the center so you don't wait more than 5 minutes to get a bus. Not far from the airport neither.
Review 128:The noise. There was an event going on with really loud music and the windows are not sound proof. We had a very early flight to catch and very little sleep thanks to this noise. Not impressed.
Review 129:The room, although it is unusual to have an extra bed in the room.
Review 130:Location isn't great. And 9 euros to park is bit of a cheek.
Review 131:Decent sized room with good shower. Staff were friendly and fairly efficient. Evening meal was better than the breakfast.
Review 132:Focus on providing a better dining option. We wanted to eat there but there wasn't the option if you didn't make breakfast & couldn't wait until lunch. Some simple sandwich / soup / snack options would have made this hotel more appealing.
Review 133:Great location
Review 134:Rooms were warm and the air con was not sufficient. The TV was mounted to the left of the bed and could not be viewed in a comfortable position. The staff were not helpful and on occasion rude. The exterior of the hotel looks awful and not very welcoming.
Review 135:Liked the location as it was right in the middle of the airport and city centre.
Review 136:where to begin? breakfast was the worst i ever had! The room keys didnt work for lots of people, parking was 9 euro a night,TV on too loud in the bar..painting being done,so whole hotel stinks..
Review 137:the location, not far out of town.
Review 138:The wifi wasn't great. It was a bit far out but easily accessible by bus and about a 30 minute walk to the Dublin town centre. Staff seemed to take a long time to clean the floor.
Review 139:The room looked exactly like the pictures. The staff were friendly and ready to assist me in answering questions about transport and shopping. The bed was comfortable. The room was cleaned daily.
Review 140:Noisy. Room next doors bathroom facilities seemed right next to our bedhead and we could hear every conversation in their room and they weren't at all being loud. Hotel is a creaking maze of corridors and not good to hear staff calling out to each other from different rooms during room service or cleaning. Far too expensive for the quality of room that is covered in cracks. The restaurant was GREAT, our male waiter is excellent A+++
Review 141:The photo of the pool.
Review 142:Our room had large window that unfortunately looked onto brick walled part building which made room extremely gloomy and blocked all natural air to room which was sweltering
Review 143:Hotel decor and facilities excellent food was great staff polite and helpful
