Reviews for Malt Lodge

Review 1:£65 NOT INCLUDING BREAKFAST IS REALLY . .TO MUCH FOR WHAT WAS AN OLD FASHION B AND B . WITH RUGS AROUND THE TOILET T.V FITTED TO WALL UNABLE TO VIEW FROM 2ND SINGLE BED.BREAKFAST NOT OFFERED PRICE UNKNOWN

Review 2:Unfortunately the bed was a very small double, so our feet hung over the end. We found the breakfast poor. Very simple pre-packaged options. There was also no fresh coffee and strangely the milk for cereal was heated?

Review 3:Lovely cosy room with views of the high street and a glimpse of the sea. Everything was very clean and tidy.

Review 4:We liked location. First time using room only and liked the freedom it gave us. Property very very nice. Surprisingly quiet location. 8 minute walk from my brothers home. Down for two family occasions so the price was good value for us. We will definately book there when in Hythe for family occasions.

Review 5:Nothing

Review 6:Superb location at top of town high street, very clean and excellent value for money, great for a weekend or overnight stay. Hythe is a little gem for a weekend break summer or winter

Review 7:Only thing was the bar at the end of the bed, I am tall and kept hitting my feet.

Review 8:It was a really good stay, great value for money. Nice pleasant owner, perfect location.

Review 9:Bed was very soft & uncomfortable so we didn't get any sleep. Breakfast wasn't included, which for £70 I thought wasn't great.

Review 10:Good location, free wifi, lovely host

Review 11:I wish I could have stayed longer!

Review 12:Richard is a very lovely host, very accommodating and friendly. Although I didn't meet his wife, she did a fabulous job of preparing our room.

Review 13:We checked in quite early as we wouldn't be around later on, which was fine. We were able to come back in quite late and we were surprised about how nice the room was, especially the bathroom. There is a choice of tea too, which is always a good thing.

Review 14:No cooked breakfast available

Review 15:We're taking channel crossing early next day Very convenient Goid food available in pubs etc almost next door so ideal

Review 16:No one on site. Had to pre agree a fixed time to check in. Room small and no lounge or other room to use.

Review 17:Hythe pretty and B&B walking distance to restaurants.

Review 18:Room had a slightly unpleasant smell - I suspect the previous occupants may have been smoking in the bathroom and this may be unique to our stay. Neither my partner or I could connect to any wifi. Shower in room (4) was handheld. Lovely bathroom if you prefer baths!!

Review 19:Comfortable, good value, spacious. Lovely attention to detail with water and fresh fruit provided, selection of books in the room. Very friendly and helpful greeting.

Review 20:Very hot in our 2nd floor room despite the weather not being so hot. We did not get the room I booked it seems

Review 21:Well located, near the centre and within walking distance of the sea

Review 22:The very loud seagulls which tend to cry all night long from the nearby rooftops!

Review 23:Richard the owner is very pleasant and professional; bedroom and bathroom spotless and very comfortable. Location is perfect at the end of the High St; pay to park lot nearby or we park in the High St after 6pm free.

Review 24:At £60 per night for a single guest it was overpriced. I had a twin room and the TVwas fixed to the wall in such a way that it could only comfortably be viewed from one bed. The room was overpriced as breakfast is not included, a simple uncooked breakfast was offered for an additional £5, which itself seemed expensive as the local Tesco provided 4 slices of toast and a coffee for less than half the price. The fact that there is no parking on site and that before 6pm and after 8 am the nearby car park charges challenges the offer of free parking nearby. The wifi, which was advertised as available throughout had a very poor signal and was not always usable in the room. Yes it has a nice aspect and the room was ok but I left with a sense that the cost for one person was not good value.

Review 25:The location is central in Hythe, the room was nicely appointed and comfortable .

Review 26:I asked about breakfast, but was informed we hadn't booked the room with breakfast. Fair enough, of course, but the proprietor failed to mention that breakfast was available for an extra charge, which we might have considered. We only found out about this when we left to walk to a breakfast restaurant and saw room service dishes outside the doors of other rooms. One would think a proprietor would want to increase his trade by making the offer.

Review 27:Easy walk to the town centre. Friendly proprietor. Comfortable room with well equipped en-suite.

Review 28:Paid £85 for room and breakfast was not included

Review 29:Location was good for old town and railway. Tea/coffee/fruit/water provided in room. Quiet and clean.

Review 30:The only downside was the smell of smoking which sat in the room. As a non smoker I was possibly over sensitive to it but it was definitely there.

Review 31:Easy booking, freedom to come and go, fruit in the room as well as tea and coffee. We would go again.

Review 32:The only thing that wasn't perfect was no shower curtain in the bath which meant an awkward shower in the morning.

Review 33:We loved the whole place- it exceeded our expectations by far. We only needed a room for a nearby wedding and it was easy to get to - there's a car park right next to it too.

Review 34:We found the bed to be a little hard, but that is a personal preference.

Review 35:The location of the hotel is very central with free parking available nearby. The price of the room was more than fair and the owner was very welcoming. The size of room, and cleanliness, was good and the room amenities, such as free chilled water, fruit, hairdryer and toiletries were great.

Review 36:My friend and I stayed here overnight due to attending a work function nearby. The host was very welcoming and also sent a nice informative text on the day of arrival. The room and B&B was very well presented, clean and felt very homely. Both my friend and I had a really good stay and good night sleep and would definitely stay again. Thank you.

Review 37:Venue advertised as B&B but booking was actually room only. Fortunately I double checked before arrival so was able to bring in my own breakfast. (Cereal breakfast can be provided). Check-out very anonymous - just leave keys on window-sill before departing (effificent though).

Review 38:Close to main street, National coach stop and local bus stop in Hythe. Double room, single occupancy - excellent attention to detail in provision of tea and coffee making facilities, mini-fridge, water, toiletries. Also books and magazines. Bed comfortable, bedroom and large bathroom spotlessly clean. Touch-sensitive bedside lights, large wardrobe. Booking procedure easy, access good.

Review 39:Paying for parking at public car park. Would still go back.

Review 40:Could not fault from the moment we arrived. Very friendly welcome and accomodating host. Very cosy and clean. Would stay again when we revisit France.

Review 41:I didn't get to stay there :)

Review 42:I booked this on behalf of my parents who came to spend the weekend with their granddaughter and me. The rooms were very clean and tidy and the beds were very comfortable. Richard (who owns the property) was very welcoming and made my parents feel at ease.

Review 43:Nothing.

Review 44:Really nice room, well presented and clean. 3 comfortable beds. Fridge, microwave, bowl of fruit, complementary water, hairdryer in drawer, nice bathroom, lots of towels. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that.

Review 45:Very small, only 5 rooms. No breakfast. Expensive for what it is. Thin walls!!

Review 46:Location. Clean rooms and friendly staff.

Review 47:We appreciated the complimentary chocolates! And also the geniality of the host who had responded promptly to an email I sent prior to our stay.

Review 66:No free wifi

Review 68:Spotlessly clean. Very comfortable. Really friendly welcome.

Review 69:A bit of a climb to the top of the house but otherwise great

Review 70:Comfy beds huge bathroom. Just great overall facility. We would use it again.

Review 71:Breakfast would have been nice, though we found breakfast elsewhere.

Review 72:Very nice room well presented.

Review 73:We were not offered the use of a lounge to relax nor were we offered breakfast.

Review 74:Location was central.

Review 75:No breakfast. Think for the price this would've been good. Otherwise fine. Clean, comfortable, friendly, nice location.

Review 76:All was just fine and relaxed ,no fuss no pressure. We assembled there to start a motorcycling tour in Europe. Exactly what we needed.

Review 77:Fridge, fruit and complimentary water. Comfy beds and very warm welcome. Perfect for a stay as we were heading onto channel tunnel

Review 78:Extremely clean B&B in a lovely area and would definitely stay again.

Review 79:Clean, spacious, very comfortable, and with excellent links to local transport. Very easy to find as well.

Review 80:Great location

Review 81:Local to shops, pubs and restaurants. Nice walks along canal Superb location, no need to use car if didn't want to.

Review 82:Great location, central yet quiet. Within walking distance of shops and sights. Plenty of excellent restaurants and cafes nearby.

Review 83:No worries about breakfast, a lot of cheap possibilities around Great place!

Review 84:shower head over bath, but not fixed so had to hand hold and very difficult to have a good shower

Review 85:Lamp which doubles up as a fridge - silly The footboard of the bed - your feet can get trapped while asleep!

Review 86:Location Bathroom Finish

Review 87:The wi-fi was not consistently available in the room. It cut in and out.

Review 88:The location, the room, the people were all great.

Review 89:traffic noise first thing in the morning.

Review 90:cleanliness comfort central postion value for money

Review 91:Excellent location and very friendly service

Review 92:No free parking

Review 93:Room size Lots of "toys" (fridge, microwave, water cooler...) Clean

Review 94:The early morning call by the bloody seagulls

Review 95:Comfort and helpfulness of the staff

Review 96:Friendly and helpful welcome from Richard

Review 97:Clean and accommodating

Review 98:The cost

Review 99:Comfortable, clean and homely. We felt welcome.

Review 100:Struggled a little with the way in which the shower has to be be fitted in the barthroom of Room 4 due to sloping ceilings, despite it being a large bathroom.

Review 101:Clean & Quiet. Convenient for the Town Centre and RH&D Light Railway.

Review 102:Showers have to be had sitting (or kneeling) in the bath.

Review 103:Friendly welcome, clean rooms with everything provided, well-located for visiting Hythe and surroundings (eg Lympne Castle).

Review 104:Nothing, car parking would always be a problem in such a location, thiswas explained & the public car park is only meters away.

Review 105:The Malt Lodge was as described, The owner was attentive & made usfeel welcome.

Review 106:We stayed in this b&b for the night as we were attending a wedding nearby. I was concerned that we would not be able to check in before our bus collected us at 1pm to take us to the wedding. So I called ahead and asked if it would be possible to check in early and get ready in the room. The owner said that this would not be a problem, but the room may not have been cleaned it the prevouse attendants had only just checked out. However when we arrived at the b&b, although the room was empty but not yet been cleaned we weren't allowed to get ready in it, so we were shown to a small toilet where we had to get dressed into our wedding attire. We booked through Booking.com which didn't say that the breakfast was cereal, if we had know this we wouldn't have gone for this option as we assumed it was a fried breakfast. The owner was pretty rude an patronising when we said that we no longer wanted breakfast and asked for our money back for this.. There is no parking, the nearest public car park is £1.20 per hour and charges on a Sunday so we had to pay quite alot, and then I had to get up at 8am to put more money in the meter. There is free parking available nut its quite a walk away. The bed was very uncomfortable and very squeeky! I woke up the next morning with a very stiff neck and back. Finally we weren't offered use of the wi-fi. We won't be staying at this B7B again!

Review 107:They gave us a key so we could come and go as we pleased. The location was very convienant. The room and bathroom were very clean and tidy.

Review 108:Very nice stay in a good location. Rooms have everything you need and the owners are helpful, accommodating people. The hotel has a comfortable feel and was perfect for my stay.

Review 109:The bed was too short and the railing at the foot end prevented a decent night/sleep. One must sit in the bath so to be able to use the shower. For elderly people this is absolutily a NO. No mirror above washing sink what is not pleasant when shaving with razorblade. Breakfast is served only in the room (there is no breakfast/dining room at the lodge) and with only one chair and no table/desk available this is a very inconvenient situation for 2 persons. So advice is to go out for breakfast. Free parking as mentioned is NOT located nearby. Payment can not be done with a Mastercard or Visa creditcard, what is in contradiction with information on booking.com. This was an unpleasant surprise.

Review 110:The location is well situated in the centre of Hythe. Room was clean. The owner is a very polite person.

Review 111:Clean and pleasant. We booked the family room which felt like home. Kind owner. Loved the modern shower. I wish I could spend more time in this lovely place.

Review 112:Being left on doorstep with note stating hotelier gone to a wake and having to ring on mobile several time in pouring rain to get owner from pub wake to let us in - shower waste of time consisted of hose attached to tap resulting in water going everywhere - no breakfast hotelier advertises cafe down road

Review 113:Booking out and going to find a cooked breakfast Room was clean and warm

Review 114:Car parking overnight is not a problem but during daytime is in a nearby pay carpark.

Review 115:This is a nice standard B & B - or more accurately rooms to let - in a lovely refurbished building (was the Old Post Office). Rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. Hythe has plenty of very good restaurants, catering for all tastes.

Review 116:Being asked to pay in cash as soon as my foot was over the door.

Review 117:Very convenient location - parking (overnight free) in council park. Good facilities in room - TV from the bed. I was allowed to use the bathroom in empty adjacent room for 2 of my 3 nights.

Review 118:the bed was quite squeaky which meant that every slight movement in the night tended to wake us up.

Review 119:lovely welcome, spacious bedroom and bathroom facilities, fantastic location.

Review 120:no fried breakfast - but found good cafe 5min walk away.

Review 121:bedroom with ensuite were basic but clean had t.v. tea making facilities. were allowed to use room b4 3pm check in.
