Reviews for Armagh City Hotel

Review 1:We went for the country show our second visit there the staff are very helpful and friendly the rooms are clean and comfortable overall a very enjoyable time

Review 2:Have stayed few times before for functions. Have absolutely nothing negative to say about any of our stays

Review 3:Lovely hotel. Good facilities. Lovely staff.

Review 4:Arrived and allocated room was not made up and had old room service left in it. The next room we were given smelt of cigarette smoke and the tv reception was rubbish. Went down to the bar for a drink and the waitress managed to spill a pint of beer all over us. The night manager sorted this out very quickly and we were given a new room as the TV worked in this one. The new room was nice but we'd left it at 11am and returned at 5pm to find it had not been made up. We phoned down to be told that the chamber made staff had gone and it wouldn't be made up, so we asked for new towels. These took over an hour and another phone call to arrive. Overall very a dissapointing stay!

Review 5:The beds and the breakfast.

Review 6:there was nothing I disliked about this hotel

Review 7:had to stay overnight in area booked hotel quite late arrived easy to find reception staff were excellent sorted our room whilst we went for some food room was very spacious food excellent and breakfast was good too would I stay here again yes I will every time in area its worth travelling 30 miles to stay here in a word excellent

Review 8:Breakfast choice could be more enticing fresh fruit salad mixed berries and fresh natural yogurt could be added to menu

Review 9:The receptionist was really efficient my room wasn't ready and I was offered a choice of tea or coffee which was wonderful as I had travelled a good distance.

Review 10:Decor is very dated

Review 11:Excellent location as I often use this Hotel on work related over nights , this hotel could do with modernisation but the staff are so very helpful and cheerful , breakfast is fab!

Review 12:Reception staff rather robotic, lacking in the personal greeting touch. Breakfast bland, food dried up and hot food area not replenished. Some staff standing in a corner bar area talking while people waiting to be attended. Once again dining room staff giving the impression that they would rather be somewhere else, lacking in personality.

Review 13:Good venue for country music.

Review 14:The breakfast was average at best.

Review 15:The location of the hotel is very good and they have a lovely foyer which is great for meeting people or just sitting having coffee

Review 16:They need to get good beer in.as the beer they have wasn't nice.need smithwick an Carlsberg an tap an beer lines cleaned more often.

Review 17:The hotel was clean an staff were very good

Review 18:Breakfast was a little lacking but for the money I guess you couldn't complain really.

Review 19:Clean, functional hotel in a good location. Comfortable bed.

Review 20:Staff were very unenthusiastic. Bar food was average, at best. Breakfast was dreadful. Fried food buffet style doesn't work. Could be a great hotel with more emphasis on customer service.

Review 21:Nice hotel, nice comfortable rooms. Good location. Only decent hotel in the area.

Review 22:Had evening meal in the bar area and while food good the bar area was dark with strong smell of the cooking. Some of seating had food/drink stains as did carpet. Dining room spacious but no outlook due to windows almost at ceiling level.

Review 23:Location was excellent with surrounding area pleasant green strolling grounds. Proximity of city centre and places worth a visit. Outside noise was not heard inside. Food very acceptable. Staff very pleasant, courteous and helpful.

Review 24:Not much really, couple of little things, self serve breakfast - difficult to access the food at the back of the service area, expel air not working in bathroom and I hate 'individual' toilet rolls - much prefer the real thing!

Review 25:Staff superb, lovely foyer, lifts quick. Would definitely revisit.

Review 26:no residents only lounge . extremely noisy reception area , more like a road side transport cafe . Main restruant also very noisy , manager had no interest when we complained about noise from a particular group in the friar restruant .

Review 27:friendliness of staff . Excelent breakfasts. Evening meals good , room excellent

Review 28:Bit noisy with traffic & pillow very uncomfortable resulting in poor nights sleep

Review 29:Staff were very helpful and friendly. Value for money. Good location & parking.

Review 30:open space/friendly helpful staff great steak good pint/rooms with view/ country music jive dance night away /good night sleep/great shower morning /breakfast something else yum /relax in deli room /people watch !!

Review 31:Service at breakfast was poor ie had to ask 3 times before tea//coffee arrived at the table

Review 32:Bright airy bedroom conveniently situated on the first floor near the staircase

Review 33:Having to leave

Review 34:Breakfast was excellent we had our ordered to room as we needed a Ly in after great night previously in excellent bar , unfortunately a young boy decided to play his bag pipes at half 9 just below our window but it was a tune played well and we did manage to get back asleep for a few hours :)

Review 35:Breakfast was very poor & although we had table booked for dinner at 6pm, the restaurant didnt open until 6.30pm and we had to rush dinner to make a concert @ Armagh Theatre.

Review 36:Location, staff, music, comfort, cleanliness, bar, facilities.

Review 37:While I was visiting the Armagh City Hotel, it seemed like I was in the very middle of the life of the town. The on-site coffee bar and restaurants are well-frequented by the locals. So is the health club connected. Yet, it was not loud and my room, a few floors up, was perfectly quiet and had all I needed for a great stay.

Review 38:Pillows were thin. Very noisy on Saturday night until 3 am. Bath towels not big enough. Room was not made up until very late on Saturday afternoon

Review 39:Breakfast was hot.

Review 40:The noise from the function room on Friday night, even when very kindly moved to the third floor, was not at all conducive to sleep and I slept approximately only five hours on the night before attending a wedding.

Review 41:The service and kindness of the night porter on the Friday night was commendable.Thank you.

Review 42:We had to be moved from front room as road noise was excessive, windows don't close properly. No heat in room moved to back of hotel less noise and warm. Must say staff did everything to accommodate, but why were we put into that room in the first place, they knew the problems!! Carvery good but suggest a microwave at the carvery as food served this way is at best warm.

Review 43:Convenient location, friendly staff very enjoyable weekend at the hotel. Certainly will go back and would recommend.

Review 44:Kettle in room was a bit temperamental. Took long time to boil. I need cup of tea in my hands at all times!!.

Review 45:Quite a pleasant expetience. Friendly staff.

Review 46:Room although comfortable and clean decor was dated and boring and both bedroom and bathroom need to be modernised badly!!!!

Review 47:Comfortable room staff excellent friendly and very welcoming breakfast ordered to room was beautiful Ulster fry hot and cooked perfect well done chef ! In room selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolate nice touch ;)

Review 48:I was given a price when I booked of £85 or €101 on check out I was actually charged €111 which I questioned and was told it was exchange rate on day €10 more for the exchange rate is a lot and most of the party we were with was charged the same why give one price when booking and then charge more ???? Also beds and pillows very uncomfortable

Review 49:Only fault I could find was there was only one small pk biscuits and only 3 tea bags but when I asked for more the staff were very obliging even though they were extremely busy

Review 50:This has nothing to do with hotel, but didn't like being beaten by Armagh in rugby match

Review 51:We were pleasantly surprised. Travelled for rugby match. Hotel right beside pitch. The hotel was listed as 3 star, I would rate it 4 star status. Food in restaurant first class. Would definitely go back.

Review 52:stayed here a few times, rooms are clean but basic. ironing board sitting in the room, not a good look. stained lamp shades.

Review 53:Hotel is easy to find, and lots of parking space, tea and coffee in the bedrooms, so always a plus.

Review 54:No ATM so I was the bane of the barmen's lives paying by card! Rooms easily fit 3 people so that should have been more well known

Review 55:Staff really helpful and accommodating to our changed needs. Spacious rooms.

Review 56:There was no area for residents to sit. As a group we were literally bulllied out of the upstairs mezzanine section by a group of non residents and their unruly and loud children who then took over. We did confront the people concerned but with little effect!!!!! This area could be allocated to residents only.

Review 57:The location of the hotel was perfect for the city and our destination. It was like coming home after a long day, with very tatsy meals in the bar restaurant.

Review 58:Cannot think of anything to complain about.

Review 59:The staff throughout the hotel were welcoming, helpful and flexible. Room very comfortable and clean. Food of a very reasonable quality and variety. Good base for touring the Co. Armagh/Co. Monaghan area (and even the weather was good)..

Review 60:Wi-Fi not so good, looking a bit tired around the edges, breakfast could do with sprucing up

Review 61:friendliness of staff and lovely welcome. great food and service. car park and leisure facilities

Review 62:You needed to use a bath mat in the tub, but it was dirty on the backside so I did not use it.

Review 63:I liked my overall stay, I Loved using the bathtub and the price for the room was fair. The bed was nice as well.

Review 64:The staff could have been more helpful as my credit card was rejected for theft identity reasons. Although they were a bit understanding, after about five minutes of trying to help me, they stopped helping. Being in a different country, it made me become very anxious. They didn't even help me get an phone operator. I would be very upset if someone from my country didn't go the extra mile for someone from your country. I was trying to get a flight home, too, which added to the already complicated situation

Review 65:Almost everything

Review 66:Dining room closed a little early at 9.00. Leisure Center was not available on my last visit, however I received a telephone call to advise me of this some days before my arrival and that was appreciated.

Review 67:Welcoming, friendly staff good parking, spacious yet intimate and very comfortable with excellent conference facilities.

Review 68:Room was too hot to sleep at night Gym/leisure facilities closed Only 1 packet of biscuits in a twin room

Review 69:Plenty of onsite parking Good food Nice atmosphere

Review 70:Quite a lot of noise during the night as there was a wedding in the premises. Shouting of people in hallway on way to bed.

Review 71:Location..Near to City Centre. Staff were wonderful. Food was fantastic. Great food selection to be had in foyer of hotel at all times.

Review 72:WiFi difficult to connect to and subject to some drop out.

Review 73:Good location for touring Armagh City and County. Friendly efficient staff. This was our second booking there this year and we would recommend it to others.

Review 74:There was nothing we could fault with this lovely place a breath of fresh air

Review 75:We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and we will definitely be visiting again the food was excellent especially the chicken curry keep up the good work thank you see you soon

Review 76:Breakfast options on buffet not great- especially if you are gluten free

Review 77:Warm and inviting lobby Clean room Windows open Short walk to good restaurants Food good Irish fare in restaurant

Review 78:When I booked it was advertised as having a pool however the fact is the leisure centre is a seperate facility and not private to the hotel, this should be advertised on your website so people know before booking. Didn't really work for me with a small child.

Review 79:The staff were lovely and really helpful, the location is great as you are walking distance to armagh. Room comfortable.

Review 80:No internet access, 1st day. Mechanical problems. Sectarian tension in city! Strongly felt by this Hawaiian tourist!

Review 81:Hotel, staff, restaurant, location all excellent.

Review 82:space !comfort !friendly helpful staff!smoked decked heated canopy go for smoke look through windows feel as u inside with everyone !good steak !great entertainment country weekend !room balcony views wow!!

Review 83:We both really enjoyed our stay. However it would have been helpful for staff at reception to tell us we needed to book the restaurant but the staff were extremely pleasant at that, and they were able to make room for us. The room was clean and spacious comfortable nights sleep.

Review 84:Scrambled eggs at breakfast were bizarre solid entity, no idea if any eggs were involved, but rest of breakfast good.

Review 85:The hotel was packed, yet our room was very quiet. Good location. Pleasant professional staff. Would stay here again. The blues festival was great.

Review 86:Rooms were fairly grubby, in need of update (badly in need of an update). Plus breakfast was very poor. Most disappointing.

Review 87:Good location in heart of City.

Review 88:Everthing was good except for one time. Ordered sandwiches for lunch, tea came no sandwiches. Person who took the order forgot to process it. Not very happy on that particular occasion
