Reviews for The Pack Horse
Review 1:Internet was very poor. No connection in the room or at the bar.
Review 2:Friendly staff who showed me directly to my room and explained the keys for the various doors etc.
Review 3:I want to make formal complaint and have already sent you an e mail that you have not replied to. Again I am worried that they have my bank details. You should not be advertising this accommodation.
Review 4:Location
Review 5:Whilst checking in I was surrounded by drunken foul mouthed men. I would not class this as a four star Hotel. I was shown to the room , it wasn't very warm and was told to use a small oil filled radiator. There was no blind or curtain at the bathroom window which was quite large. The internet connection didn't work and I had no mobile signal. Had to go outside to use mobile whilst doing this bumped into 2 young men falling up the stairs laughing. It made me fell very nervous and my husband wasn't joining me till later on the night . I ended up paying the bill and checking out. Needless to say I will not be returning. This place should either be a pub or a hotel, not both
Review 6:The room is directly above the disco karioke and the beds were vibrating until 1am with the volume of the music. When mentioned to the manageress she said we shouldn't have booked the room and we should have checked prior to the visit it would be noisy- why should we need to do this when booking a family room. We knew it was a pub and a Saturday night and expected some noise but this was something else. Apparently it's now a disco/sports bar which it says on your website - I still cannot find where it says this and had I known would definitely wouldn't of booked it!!!
Review 7:Some of the staff where lovely - however the manageress was rude and aggressive
Review 8:A bit noisy but quiet after midnight. Water was terrible with very scummy deposits in tea and coffee, the rooms would benefit from a simple water filter jug.
Review 9:Central location, good parking, excellent breakfast and lovely cook, friendly staff and good shower.
Review 10:We had no power twice in one night leaving us in the pitch black trying to get ready for an evening out. Also not sure I was fully comfortable with leaving stuff in room as you could've have quite easily leant on our door and it would've opened even when locked. Door handle was also very loose and filmsy and I had to be careful it didn't fall off when I went to open the door everytime.
Review 11:The lady that cooked up a full breakfast in the morning very friendly and helpful! Room was clean and had everything you would need for a B&B.
Review 12:DO NOT recommend for families with younger children. Listening to Firestarter at full volume at 12.15 at night IS NOT TRADITIONAL PUB MUSIC, neither is constant dance music at a high level. I had to go into the bathroom to make a phone call. I did not even stay for breakfast or my second night. Shame as It could be a great place.
Review 13:car park, size of the room
Review 14:Breakfast had bought potato patties, egg was hard, staff miserable Noise from the bar. Although they offered to turn it down, and did for a while, it was disturbing to sleep with Fortunately we were tired enough to sleep but others should be fore-warned
Review 15:Hotel is close to downtown. Very friendly check in with Nicki.
Review 16:Room was right on top of pub side entrance, got really noisy at one stage. Other than that it was great.
Review 17:Staff were friendly and food was very good. Good value for money!
Review 18:Landlady very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Full English breakfast was very well cooked but portions could have been less generous. One hash brown and one slice of toast would have been sufficient for me with the eggs bacon sausages tomato and mushroom.
Review 19:small room,no hot water in the evening, noisy with boy racers and general people shouting and talking at 0630 onwards. internet didn't work.
Review 20:nothing
Review 21:Wifi didn't work very well in our room.
Review 22:We have used it before for visiting relatives and will use it again. Well located in the middle of town. Good breakfast.
Review 23:There wasn't anything not to like
Review 24:Staff were super friendly and helpful, location was perfect, room was clean and comfy and the breakfast was massive
Review 25:Although the music downstairs went on until quite late it wasn't too loud and not really a problem. However, the bonkers screeching girls who were outside drinking were a real nuisance, although to be fair I imagine this was beyond the owner's control.
Review 26:Very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Well situated for Cadwell Park. Would definitely visit again.
Review 27:Because of it's position it is inclined to be a little noisy with traffic and pedestrians and it is a pub after all. But once things quieten down it was fine and didn't bother me.
Review 28:Very handy for Cadwell Park, generous car park. Staff very accommodating and breakfast superb. Right in the centre of town. WiFi in room was excellent. Everything clean and comfortable bed (Room 1)
Review 29:It was an active pub and we did not know that. If you don't need to sleep before midnight this is the place for you. Music was so loud Friday night it rattled the floor.
Review 30:Breakfast and the person serving us
Review 31:A little noisy with the bar being under our room but it didn't go on too late.
Review 32:The room was really nice and the breakfast too. The staff were friendly.
Review 33:The noise from below was very load, even the wardrobe was rocking. The kettle plug didn't reach the socket! My dad had no hot water in his room. No bowl for the sugar, so brought to us in a bag!
Review 34:Breakfast was good
Review 35:I booked this hotel for our honeymoon and wanted to suprise my new husband with the american diner as that is what is advertised on your website. But on arrival (after looking for this diner) we were then told it no longer exsists and should of been notified by booking.com. If we would have known this we would of found somewhere more suitable for us. Unfortunately the rooms weren't that nice either as it had just recently been took over and nothing had been done.
Review 36:Staff were friendly.
Review 37:Noise at night, as listed building no double glazing. Bottled beer only and not much choice. Food definitely average.
Review 38:Lovely central position. Staff pleasant and helpful. Only there overnight so no real concern.
Review 39:Very friendly and helpful staff made us feel immediately at home. Excellent town centre location with easy access and parking. Quiet place considering both town centre location and room above a pub (because it closes earlier than most).
Review 40:I have never ever done this before. We arrived to a grumpy host whom we had to ring to open the door.He then complained to my partner about the food saying they freeze the leftovers. We then decided to eat elsewhere.Breakfast in morning was over cooked and terrible. No apologises as such not worth money especially as it was a birthday treat.Since coming back a group of our friends had a meal costing £200 and said it was awful and wont be going again.
Review 41:The best thing about our stay was the b and bs location.
Review 42:Shower was stuck at slightly too hot a temperature and could have been more powerful. Breakfast was only served 7-9am on a bank holiday, would have been nice to have it available until 10am as usual on what is basically a 'weekend' morning. Towels were too small!
Review 43:The location right in the centre of Louth, with free off street parking. Staff were very helpful and friendly, the room had everything we needed and the beds were comfy. Perfect for one night. Great breakfast.
Review 44:shame they don't mention closing the restaurant early and breakfast late
Review 45:the room was comfortable, clean and nice and warm, quite a large room. Bathroom was clean and modern, but it is still an old building so you have to expect it isn't going to be ultra modern. The Diner was really good, food very good and staff friendly
Review 46:We had the family room and it was perfect for a young family, it fits 4 people. The room was very modern and up to date. Breakfast was gorgeous, we had a choice of cereals, fruit, tea/coffee, toast and a full English.
Review 47:Not always contactable on the phone. A diversion to a mobile would be great when the office is not occupied.
Review 48:This hotel is booked fairly regularly for our sub-contractors as we have a large job in Mablethorpe, which is about half hour drive. I have re-booked each time even though it is a half hour drive, because of the quality.
Review 49:Honestly cannot fault the pack horse
Review 50:We came to Louth for a family party all the way from southampton. The room was immaculate, very modern and the bed was very comfy and clean. The staff were fantastic, friendly and informal! The location is perfect, right in the middle of Louth, and a stones through from lots of shops, restaurants and bars. Breakfast was really nice, "free breakfasts" are normally terrible but this was the exception to the rule.
Review 51:Could only get one channel on tv. Traffic a little bit noisey at street facing rooms.
Review 52:Easy to book, friendly staff, very good breakfast, comfortable bed, very clean, nice shower room and clean toilet.
Review 53:There was some black mould above the shower that needed to be dealt with but it wasn't too bad.
Review 54:The beds were very comfy and the room large. The staff were all lovely and the cooked breakfast very nice.
Review 55:I thought I would be staying in a Coaching Inn, but actually turned out to be a B&B, which would not be my choice.
Review 56:Comfortable bed, very pleasant staff and good breakfast.
Review 57:It is a tired grubby place. Greeted with we close at 10pm, and we don't really have a bar. In effect they have an American "Style" Diner - if you can call 1 Light up Budweiser Sign and a Coors Light Sign a Diner. Table was sticky at breakfast - as was the menu. Very clever use of photos "lured" us there, but we would never return!
Review 58:Not much to like, except the 2 members of staff were ok.
Review 59:Marmalade for breakfast would have been a nice option.
Review 60:Excellent cooked breakfast. Veggie sausages were not held as standard but they did buy some specially for my second day, so just let them know in advance. Woman serving breakfast very friendly.
Review 61:Wifi Signal was week and 30 min as a Business traveler is an insult.
Review 62:Very clean and tidy, The bathroom was great fantastic water pressure for an older building. I loved the Buddha in the room.
Review 63:That we couldn't stay longer, my granddaughter loved the American diner and Betty Boop!
Review 64:I was travelling with my 5 year old granddaughter and we were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived, after been stuck in a motorway hold up for ages,to have a lovely glass of wine and a lemonade for the little one brought to the room straight away was wonderful! Very relaxing
Review 65:The Ritz it was not. Food was adequate, room adequate and the price was reasonable per person but our whole impression was The Pack Horse needed an update as general impression was shabby.
Review 66:The location was excellent being in the centre of Louth.
Review 67:There was nothing we didn't like.
Review 68:The location was perfect for us to attend a wedding in a nearby hotel. We were able to walk to the venue. This was the primary reason for the booking.
Review 69:Had there been draught larger, we would have our drinks there as well. But that is not an issue, as the house red wine was excellent.
Review 70:Great Period building. Very Comfortable bed Very clean Excellent Staff Eating facilities Superb breakfasts Nice clean shower and toilet. All in all a brilliant stay.
Review 71:only complaint was getting out of the bathroom for my wife could do with a grab handle near the steps as there was no where to hold on to. room no 4
Review 72:everything about the place handy for getting about.staff very helpful.couldnt do enough for us.
Review 73:Entrance was difficult to find and somewhat unwelcoming. When I rang the number on the note on the door, howver, the owner was quick to respond.
Review 74:Great room, very clean. The bathroom was newly decorated. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Breakfast at the restaurant attached to the B & B was very good, with lots of choice.
Review 75:Cobwebs in room, dated, dreary décor, could not open window so was very hot, noisy due to the greengrocer next door opening at 5 am, restaurant closes at 8 pm
