Reviews for The Globe
Review 1:First room we were given smelled really bad but the staff were really helpful and moved us to another room immediately.
Review 2:Staff were really helpful, bed was really comfy, food was lovely
Review 3:The television didnt work and we arrived late at night so reported when we went for breakfast. We were told it would get sorted by 12pm that day and it didnt at all. No bathrobes unless thats what they call big towels. We think its overpriced for what it offers, we saved to stay here new years and were dissapointed as described as deluxe double room on booking.com. we were by the entrance so the door slammed all the time with people in and out. Were not picky when it comes to hotels but when you pay 285 quid for 2 nights you expect better. There is better value for money in warwick with the luxurious element.
Review 4:The bed was amazingly comfortable. The room was clean and warm. The breakfast they offered as part of the deal was ok, but we've had better in Warwick.
Review 5:My only issue with the room was it was very warm. The radiator was off in the bedroom but the towel warmer in the bathroom was very hot and we struggled to get to sleep. There was an air conditioning unit which was very efficient and quiet but it made it a bit difficult to sleep due to the air movement.
Review 6:Really nice hotel, room was beautifully decorated and furnished. Staff very accommodating and we got a free upgrade due to concerns there may be a bit of noise due to a Christmas function and our room would've been downstairs. The food was excellent and we felt very spoilt
Review 7:Although it was November room wad very warm, some people will like this others not so much. But i suppose better than freezing cold!
Review 8:Welcoming staff, comfortable bed and lovely breakfast
Review 9:Room very small - no pre warning
Review 10:Very friendly staff Delicious menu and food Location Quality of room drinks, shower gel, shampoo and coffee making facilities
Review 11:There were one or two issues with Room 1 - no hot water in the sink (although piping hot in the shower), telephone and television not working (in fairness the TV was explained on our arrival). Also it was very noisy early in the morning.
Review 12:The staff were excellent, welcoming and friendly. Room clean and tidy, bathroom well equipped.
Review 13:The toilet in our room didn't flush, despite this issue being reported on the day of arrival nothing was done. Consequently we were unable to use the toilet for the rest of our stay.
Review 14:The location and friendliness of the staff
Review 15:Not being able to fathom out the tea/coffee making facilities in the room. No instructions on how to use the machine and the 'mugs' didn't fit under the spout anyway.
Review 16:Very Comfortable Bed. Brilliant Shower. Staff were superb (slight mistake the next morning when a receptionist unlocked our bedroom door to presumably show some people - could have waited until we had checked out or at the very least knocked first to make sure I wasn't the other side getting dressed!)
Review 17:The shower was a bit small, I banged my head on the shelf in there twice also the light in the shower itself didn't work but that wasn't really a major problem.
Review 18:Had a great relaxing stay for our first wedding anniversary, loved the location and the decor of the hotel, the breakfast was superb, loads of choice and very tasty.
Review 19:Breakfast could have been more traditional & it would be nice to offer veggie sausages & soya milk & alternative to butter. But still good!
Review 20:It was small & cozy. Not too noisy. I stayed on the top floor nice & warm
Review 21:Paid £105 for what was called luxury double room. Tiny room couldn't swing a cat and kept bumping ourselves on walls and furniture due to the tightness of the room.
Review 22:The staff were very pleasent. Nice breakfast
Review 23:Please please turn the heating down at the Globe. Was unbearably hot - to the point of feeling faint and very uncomfortable in some rooms - in an otherwise, faultless, spotless great hotel.
Review 24:Very clean and central location.
Review 25:We really enjoyed our stay in the executive room it was very clean and the decor was lovely we had a jacuzzi bath sky tv mini bar and coffee machine we would definitely stay here again ?
Review 26:Our room was on the ground floor and had almost no natural light and you couldn't open the window so it was very stuffy and felt stale after 2 days. Also the plumbing was old and very noisy and the taps would randomly go on. There was a room next door with an adjoining door and we could hear every word that was said
Review 27:The hotel is nice and modern. The room was a good size for staying for 2 nights. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was a good quality
Review 28:Too much noise outside, i.e vehicles, windows didn't keep enough noise out. TV view obscured by one of the posts on the four post bed.
Review 29:Nice hotel Good food Friendly staff
Review 30:The room was noisy as it was situated at the top of the stairs from the bar/restaurant. Room was a good size but a little shabby in places.
Review 31:Great location, friendly staff, great breakfast & restaurant.
Review 32:Coffee machine - kettle would be better. Cracked tiles and mouldy sealant in shower. Rooms not as smart as looked on website. Didn't realise road was so close, lots of traffic noise.
Review 33:Staff very friendly and helpful. Convenient racecourse, and town, great breakfast. Nice bedroom/bathroom and very happy to have upgrade to family room.
Review 34:The hotel as very clean and modern. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Excellent location. The best hotel I have stayed at in Warwick. Excellent
Review 35:Lots of dust in room could be due to aircon, parking locally but not secure, no bath, poor TV signal- had to move box around a few times to stop noise - good stay but probably would stay somewhere else next time - definitely would eat & drink there again though.
Review 36:Nothing much to discuss here. Only thing is that the hall way leading to the rooms was quite noisy but after about 11:30 it died down. I could hear everything through the adjoining door to the room next door also, so some sort of sound proofing would be a good idea to stop this.
Review 37:Really nice atmosphere. Lovely place to stay on business as good Wi-Fi and staff were helpful to find me a quiet spot for a phone call. Really cute rooms. I liked the restaurant, the food was good.
Review 38:Offsite parking, altough parking available very close by for £4 per day, so not a problem really
Review 39:The rooms were big and very comfortable. The breakfast was served in the hotel and there was a great choice available. Staff were very helpful, especially when we were having difficulties booking a tour that we wanted to do in another city. Would not hesitate to recommend them.
Review 40:There was an issue with the Sky and Wifi not working (problem was linked). The staff did what they could to fix it: bad timing as opposed to bad facilities.
Review 41:The staff were excellent; Mattheo was very welcoming and informative and ensured we were looked after in the restaurant also. The Manager tried to help with our TV and Wifi issue, he couldn't in the end but was very accommodating in making it up to us.
Review 42:Poor service at breakfast. First room we were allocated was small window that u could not look out of and u could hear staff out side when they had their break.
Review 43:Check in staff, Paul (I believe was his name, was incredibly helpful and we enjoyed having some good conversation at check in. Check out was just as great. Bear was our night porter who checked us out of the hotel, and he was extremely helpful. We were greatly blessed by the exceptional service from all staff.
Review 44:Room had no air con so was very hot but we were given two fans. Also the door outside our door which led to the stairs to reception didnt have a buffer on it so everytime someone went through it you heard BANG!
Review 45:Boutique pub/restaurant/hotel. Amazing bathroom with fantastic shower. Stafff really friendly. Food was delicious.
Review 46:This is not luxury accomodation. Our room #7 was small, hot with tiny window over the kitchen. The room WiFi didn't work neither did the Sky TV. We only found this out after we returned from dinner. When we spoke with reception they knew of the problem and after a little bit of pushing they changed our room. Why put us in a room they knew had problems. We could go on but the key message is we would not stay again and check your room before checking in.
Review 47:First impression was good. Ends there.
Review 48:Could do with fruit e.g prunes and apricots and better choice of breakfast cereals. Coco Pops not for adults! Problem with car parking as none available and hotel is on corner of busy road. Long walk from where we parked, we are over 70! Parking meter has to be paid for.
Review 49:Bed and towel linen great also toiletries are of quality. Good attentative waiter and excellent cooked breakfast. Dinner in restuarant also excellent.
Review 50:The room was very hot. It only had one small window facing an alley, and there wasn't enough natural light. The room was lovely but we had no sleep at all as the room was baking. We had two fans but then we were kept awake from the noise.
Review 51:The room was well presented. The shower was lovely although smelt rather musty.
Review 52:Room was very hot and stuffy. Woken early by the bottles being taken out!
Review 53:Comfortable room and good breakfast. Very pleasant surroundings and excellent proximity to town and castle.
Review 54:Paid for a luxury/deluxe double and ended up with a tiny room that looked directly onto a brick wall. Very expensive for what you get. There was a corporate group staying so can only assume they were allocated the better rooms. Very disappointing. We complained but was only offer a better room the next time we came back! It was also very noisy during the day so couldn't actually get any sleep.
Review 55:Location good for castle and Warwick centre. Fittings in room were nice quality.
Review 56:The worst I can say is that the room was a bit warm; nothing really.
Review 57:The food was excellent both for our evening meal and for breakfast. The bar is very stylish and comfortable with a great selection of drinks. We had an excellent walk in shower with large rainforest type head.
Review 58:The lack of air con room very warm, the man serving breakfast lacked people skills and the lack of TV channels
Review 59:The shower was fantastic, the bed pillows were fab and the breakfast
Review 60:The espresso machine was a bit tricky to figure out, but that is probably because I am a technophobe - I worked it out in the end!
Review 61:Friendly staff. Nice comfortable modern room, in a place with a lot of history.
Review 62:Room was a little over priced in my experience
Review 63:Location was very central with parking (at weekends) very convenient and free. Breakfast was excellent with more than the usual buffet choices.
Review 64:The coffee machine in the room was great but the mugs did not fit in it. If you made a coffee with it then your subsequent cup of tea tasted of coffee! I tried but couldnt get on the wifi. The TV was a bit complicated to operate and we could not access any sky channels even though they were listed, which was a bit frustrating. The bar was a bit expensive at over £12 for a pint of local ale and a large glass of wine but its that kind of up market place.
Review 65:We arrived and were not happy with our room because it was a bit small and dark with a view of a brick wall, but the staff changed it without any problems. Our second room was very nice with a great bed and a nice view. Similarly when we where given a table in the restaurant next to the serving hatch they changed it without any issues. Overall this is a lovely hotel in a great location, a good choice for a special trip. The food was exceptional, we had breakfast and an evening meal. We had a great time in Warwick
Review 66:Please don't offer a 24 hour bar when you are made to feel unwelcome to enjoy, staff bring you inside, music goes off etc, there is nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable
Review 67:Beautiful room, great location
Review 68:Couldn't get any signal on the TV, despite asking, this never got rectified. Room was very hot even though no heating on and window open. Due to location, it's noisy outside.
Review 69:Location was excellent. Staff both in the hotel and attached restaurant were incredibly friendly and helpful. Food was amazing! Dinner and breakfast. Great value mini break.
Review 70:Room overlooked the main road so early morning noise
Review 71:Location, comfy bed and good food. Staff very helpful and great price to be in the centre of Warwick. 5 min walk to castle
Review 72:The rooms can get a little too warm.
Review 73:Fantastic little place, wonderful staff, nice decor, great food (you have to try the halloumi sticks) and fantastic bar. Rooms are comfortable and well equipped (complete with nespresso machine)
Review 74:Docking station did not work and coffee machine would not work for me although housekeeping manager showed me and it worked for her!
Review 75:We were able to change rooms when we arrived as my back is bad and origional room was on top floor. staff very friendly and helpful
Review 76:TV didn't work despite efforts to fix it. No instant discount but 10% off next time. As a business visitor this will happen. So good response No car park but plenty reasonable priced public car parks nearby
Review 77:Excellent food Great location Air con - needed as room v warm
Review 78:First room was like being in the attic, TV and wifi didn't work properly and ceiling low in places.Second room difficult to use the toilet if a man due to sloping roof. No parking on site but car park close by which charges £4/day, unfortunately someone had their wheels stolen the night we were there. The breakfast was good but lacked fruit.
Review 79:Staff were very pleasant, room we were moved too was good.
Review 80:The reception desk is not manned, and had to queue up in bar, which is through a separate entrance to find a member of staff. Hotel entrance is open to anyone who wishes to walk in, no security at all, and bits of wood piled up, very untidy. Only provided with one tea bag, had to request more. Espresso machine provided in room, but with no instructions. Cups did not fit under espresso machine. Shower did not drain away so ended up paddling in water. Water in sink did not drain away, not very hygienic. Had to send breakfast back, as muffin was burnt. All in all this hotel was very, very disappointing, definitely not a four star hotel.
Review 81:Room way too hot. Restaurant was only ok. King prawn starter was not king prawn (and only came with 3 prawns). Halumi bites was fantastic.
Review 82:Room looked fantatsic and main bar area was very visually appealling.
Review 83:Room 1 was very noisy, Next to an Alley and the bins were emptied very early and an adjoining door meant we could here everything from the room next door.
Review 84:Staff were friendly , room was clean, tidy and comfy and Breakfast was Great ! The Bar had a lovely atmosphere.
Review 85:Was not informed of the change in Hotel name prior to our visit. Room was rediculously hot. Not impressed with table we were given in the restaurant. Have given feedback directly to the hotel.
Review 86:Friendly staff, good quality food in the restaurant. Well decorated and clean rooms.
Review 87:I arrived and staff could find no record of my booking. The room had no heating. Carpets etc were dirty. Hotel unable to provide a receipt and charged twice on my credit card ( I am still waiting for a refund). I appreciate there is new ownership.
Review 88:I survived to tell the tale!
Review 89:Room we were offered was small & although decor was funky.. it was tired. Window was extremely small with obscure glass so felt claustrophobic, on asking for an alternative, we were told they were full - only saw 2 other couples all eve & nxt morn - what was actually happening was a staff party that eve. :( Bar & restaurant closed very early so we had to chill in our room.
Review 90:Staff were very nice, young & polite. Breakfast was excellent, dinner service was excellent too. The evening menu had been limited that eve but the steak we ended up having was top notch.
Review 91:room, hardly any natural light, window onto brick wall with soil pipe vent. couldn't apply make up, just too dark. no handmade chocolates as per description. door rattled continually every time someone walked down corridor giving the impression that someone was entering the room, quite alarm through the night. no hot water to wash hand basin, scalding hot water in shower. Over priced, would have preferred premier inn, hardly slept a wink
Review 92:Staff, very friendly, simply couldn't complain to them. Lovely meal in the restaurant with excellent service
Review 93:Could feel every spring in the bed!!! The floor lamp could have done with having a bulb in it, and the radiator could have done with being hot instead of stone cold! Thankfully we took our own fan heater.
Review 94:Location, the name, the cocktails
Review 95:Shower fluctuated from warm to cold constantly but we didn't contactstaff to sort this- probably would have been rectified if we had.
Review 96:Took my boyfriend away for Christmas and our joint birthdays tocelebrate. Had an amazing night away, hotel was beautiful, staffcouldn't do enough to ensure you had the best time and value for money-brilliant.
Review 97:No hot water on afternoon of check in, carpet was filthy, music from pub/ restaurant was far too loud and went on beyond 1.00am. Chef couldn't make pancakes for breakfast
Review 98:Not a lot
Review 99:No one on desk even when we asked her still hanging about room nine had unpleasant smell room cold for ages no special chocolates or biscuits light bulb in wc not working breakfast no one to show or tell us anything. No coffee no hot water for tea had to ask but got us drinks from bar coffee not good tea Luke warm no one came to take our order even though there were staff about so we had to go and find then to top it all orders were both
Review 100:Our room was very cold and the noise of the traffic outside wad quite bad. It would have been nice to have had a kettle in our room. The menu at the restaurant had a very limited choice.
Review 101:We liked the theme. The staff were very friendly.
Review 102:My only thing I did not like was the rooms had no coat hooks. Very minor thing I know.
Review 103:Everything about the place was fantastic. The room and evening meal were perfect. I had the steak and eggs breakfast and will be going back.
Review 104:initially stunning bedroom, but very tired, needs new mattress. They need a good handyman to fix silly, trivial problems that detract from an otherwise lovely hotel
Review 105:Staff were amazing, helpful, couldn't do enough to make us welcome. Outstanding Breakfast, (we didn't have dinner) natural smoked haddock, perfectly poached eggs, superb. Would certainly stay again.
Review 106:Having stayed here before we were incredibly disappointed. Toilet seat hanging off, spot lights hanging down. Dirty carpet. Broken tap etc etc. At 1am we had to ask to move room due to the paper walls separating the rooms. Sunday morning, the cleaners decided to have a conversation at 7am outside our door which woke us up and I had to ask them to be quiet. Food was incredibly bad. The Chateaubriand was chewy and stone cold. Breakfast, again, horrendous. Chef had clearly pre poached eggs and then put them in bowl of ice water to stop the yolk from hardening, not a problem, however chef did not reheat therefore I was served cold poached eggs amongst the burnt sausages and other inedible fare. After checkout the misses has been sick several times and I can only put this down to the hotel.
Review 107:Staff were great!
Review 108:Room 2 smelt musky....coffee machine, shower and tv broke. Gave different room but coffee machine also broke and deco was in need of tlc
Review 109:The breakfast was nice
Review 110:My room number 2 - smelled of damp, very noisy, shower broken you have to hold it by hand, draws broken, bulbs out on bathroom, carpets dirty! Breakfast wasn't great either service a bit slow, also not fresh coffee, could be better
Review 111:Staff are friendly, pub was quirky, beer was good
Review 112:Be aware it is on a corner of a busy road, so there is some road noise, but nothing too bad.
Review 113:Room was great, everything we needed, very warm and cosy. Restuarant was great and the steaks were the best we have ever had and a fabulous breakfast. Staff really friendly couldn't do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble, would definitely stay again.
Review 114:Great room, quirky character which we liked, and with excellent quality facilities within: shower, coffee machine, bed linen, lighting, TV all first rate.
Review 115:If you were staying at the hotel there was no area to sit at other than the bar
Review 116:The staff were excellant, friendly, helpful actually unbelievable. The best staff I have had the pleaseure of meeting anywhere and we are from Canada! ALso the beds and pillows were really really comfortable.
Review 117:Bed uncomfortable - too soft for me Shower and taps were broken Coffee machine in room a great touch - but didn't work Downstairs rooms noisy
Review 118:Staff responsive and proactive Good food Decoration
Review 119:The room was a little cramped
Review 120:The place is easy to find, has a fine restaurant, serves good breakfast - included in the room. And it was particularly nice to meet a countryman at the counter. There is an iron and board in the room. Comes handy, shirts right out of the suitcase look like they've been chewed on.
Review 121:Rooms need maintenance and checking before keys handed over. Some rooms would have been very noisy as adjacent to outside area of busy bar. Our room needed to be lighter in order to be comfortable. Problems with hot water.
Review 122:Not far to walk to anything in Warwick so good location. Staff great. Breakfast excellent. Different decor. Comfortable bed.
Review 123:Location and no parking at the hotel. Filthy walls and lots of unfixed furnature. Far too hot (even in October) No hot water in the shower
Review 124:Potential to be beyond fabulous!
Review 125:Although our room was comfortable, there were a few things that just weren't right. The shower handle to open the shower was very loose almost to the point of falling off. The toilet paper felt cheap and hard. As a female I found it hard to find a light in the right place - like over a mirror - to put my make up on. The walls were really thin and we could hear people talking in the next room quite loudly. Also the receptionist on check out was very functional with no warmth about her.
Review 126:The alternative decor and funky pictures were great. It was lovely and warm and the staff in the bar and restaurant were lovely.
Review 127:Unfortunately the walls were paper thin- this meant sleep quality was poor. There was also an issue with the hot water supply.
Review 128:Helpful staff Quirkiness of hotel
Review 129:The only thing that wasnt so good was that we could hear the people next to our room quite loudly the walls to the room next to ours must be very thin to hear that amount of noise, but apart from that everything else was good.
Review 130:The staff were great, the food in the resturant was amazing, couldnt fault it at all.
Review 131:That there has been no attention to the rooms needing repairs - an hour with a handyman in the room could have made this a perfect place to stay.
Review 132:Loved the theme & the restaurant was beyond expectation.
Review 133:Rooms 1&2 are extremely noisy as they are between the Reception, Bar and Restaurant kitchen. The passage is used as a thoroughfare so noise continues until 1:00am and starts again at 6:00am when the kitchen starts up. Rooms are too warm and noisier if the window is left open as this backs onto a passage between the kitchen & bins.
Review 134:The food at the Lazy Cow is fantastic. The breakfast is freshly cooked and the evening meals are delicious with a wide choice.
Review 135:The room was cramped ridiculously hot, and tired. All needs painting and the carpet needs replacing. The noise wasn't too bad for a Monday night but I imagine a Friday or a Saturday night would be a nightmare. The chef somehow managed to take a chateaubriand and turn it into a charcoal cinder - every mouthful tasted of charcoal; very poor indeed. This place is nowhere near a £100/night stop over and I would rather have stayed in a Travelodge because you know exactly what you are getting. Would advise against staying here.
Review 136:Staff were good, polite and attentive
Review 137:Room was very hot, the heating was on full blast all day and night and we ended up sleeping ontop of the covers. Woke up in the middle of the night in a puddle of sweat.
Review 138:Staff were very busy due to short staff issue, however were helpful, attentive and patient.
Review 139:Didn't stay long enough to make comment
Review 140:The decor & the inclusive breakfast was particularly good! A generous & well cooked hearty meal Also the night porter(from Tasmania? ) was very pleasant & helpful
Review 141:We had room 2 on ground floor, quite noisy from room above and kitchen next door. Room furnished well but very very dark, lighting too dim, struggled to see to put make up on etc and didnt help as 3 of the bulbs were broken. Radiator and toilet toll holder were loose. Some of the other rooms looked brighter so would have preferred to be in one of those on 1st floor.
Review 142:Location was great, very close to the pubs, restaurants and castle On site restaurant had friendly staff and lovely food. Bath robes provided, room furnished nicely.
