Reviews for Links Country Park Hotel

Review 1:The towel rail in the bathroom was loose and the handle on the window was broken.

Review 2:The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food in the restaurant was excellent.

Review 3:If you book with the hotel directly breakfast appears to be included. On Booking.com it was an extra 9.99 per person. For £9.99 I was under the impression it would be a cooked breakfast? Whilst the breakfast was good, Scrambled Eggs is not my idea of a Full English Breakfast.

Review 4:Hotel was in a nice environment, staff were friendly and room was very spacious. Showers need a bit of work and seems to attract a few comments on here. The showers litterally just dribble out water. All in all a good stay though

Review 5:Toilet got blocked one night and there was one wall in bathroom that had just been plastered but not been painted yet....

Review 6:Staff were very friendly. Swimming pool was great. Nice big bathroom. A good base to see the area from.

Review 7:WiFi reception is very poor.

Review 8:Great old fashioned hotel. Doesn't pretend to be anything else. Staff are very helpful, rooms are very clean and comfortable.

Review 9:The pool patio area was full of rubbish. Lovely pool but you look out on an area that for a mornings work with some shale chippings and a visit to a garden centre could be transformed.

Review 10:In-house problems with plugs i.e. lack of sufficient sockets in the room. Shower, very complicated - lose the will to use it and take a bath instead!!

Review 11:Excellent location. Very attentive and pleasant reception staff. Staff in the dining room were very pleasant and helpful.

Review 12:Wifi was quite poor. Some parts of the hotel are quite dated although still very clean.

Review 13:The location was beautiful, less than 5 minutes drive from Cromer. If you fancy a game of golf everthing is available to hire. Nice bar seperate to the hotel to relax in the evening with a more casual menu.

Review 14:Not a major point but it would have been nice if restaurant food could be served in the bar. We had our dogs with us which are not allowed in the restaurant (fair enough) so we only had the choice of bar menu or sit in the annexe sports bar. In the end we drove to a dog friendly restaurant, it would have been nice to be able to eat at the hotel.

Review 15:Large comfortable garden rooms.

Review 16:Thin walls made for little sleep. Our room in the newly renovated section was not clean, poorly finished down to the pencil marks from where the builder hung up the room number. No door knows means you have to slam your door shut and poor sound proofing means it disturbs everyone. Breakfast was very mediocre.

Review 17:Good location near the train station.

Review 18:Room was not ready with the extra childs bed. We were eventually moved to another room as they realised they did not have a bed to bring. They had not looked at the message I sent requesting this and an extra breakfast for my child. To be fair it was sorted out quickly. Room had a tired old bath with a hand held shower and a broken shaving light. Reception staff helpful. However the staff in the restaurant at breakfast are very poorly organised. Kept having to ask for things that should be done without thinking. One or two junior waiters just standing around waiting to be told what to do instead of filling coffee etc. Chef doing my cooked breakfast just walked off giving my plate to someone else causing me to have to repeat what I wanted. Very unprofessional. My price was calculated at £60 per day extra for another bed. This was pointed out to the manager as it should be £20 for a child. I was assured this would be sorted. It wasn't, I had to sort it myself at checkout. Also charged for 4 extra breakfasts on bill. Including 1 on the day we arrived! They blamed booking.com for that! Ok but they must be used to that happening surely? Why did no one check it? Considering what I paid I expect much better service than I got.

Review 19:Evening meal food was excellent. Waiters need more training however.

Review 20:It was a shame breakfast was not included in the price.

Review 21:The staff were friendly helpful and the night porter found my purse...all returned safe and sound!

Review 22:Room was too small once the child bed was in there, dinner food at hotel was substandard and the food in the bar/cafe/restaurant on the golf course was abysmal and staff were no good at dealing with it

Review 23:Lovely location, quiet hotel, nice swimming pool and grounds

Review 24:Reaching my room involved climbing a lot of stairs. Sign indicating turn off coast road to Links Hotel was difficult to see in the dark.

Review 25:Hotel was fitted out to modern standards without losing its traditional character.

Review 26:Extremely annoying lift that had to be continually checked by staff. If door not shut properly at the top someone had to go up two flights of stairs to shut the door so it could be used.Only one chair in our room, not much use when there two elderly people in the room! We had a new room that did not have any carpet outside the room. Why was the room being used if clearly not finished. New lift nearby not yet working either.

Review 27:Beds very comfortable and breakfast was pretty good.

Review 28:This hotel is like a maze and somewhat old fashioned despite some efforts, and the creaking floor boards made it very noisy, from upstairs and on the landings.

Review 29:Nicely refurbished bathroom, and large comfortable beds

Review 30:room door is a sliding door that opens into a courtyard privcy, I had a superifamily room and there was a tub to get in for the shower which was difficult for my 78 year old mother. remote for the TV!!

Review 31:it was quite around the place , so peaceful enough to get a good night sleep

Review 32:Appalling service, had to carry heavy bags up 2.5 stairs to Floor 2 - told later there was a service lift - it went downhill from then - dogs given preference on ground floor, my preferences ignored albeit an attempt was made for two room changes in two days - nothing on ground floor - breakfast from Booking.com said breakfast would cost as would dinner - the hotel didn't let on but breakfast was said to be included after the two days of nothing but poor information - noisy exhaust fan directly outside Room 227 on first night - response - 'it is the kitchen - will be off at 9:30PM!' ... it was actually the AC to one set of the rooms, right outside my window. Moved to Room 209, after waiting 40 minutes, which had incomplete shower room renovations - sharp edges and slippery linoleum - moved to Room 215 an airless room with 3cm - about 1.5 inch ventilation through a single small window - sweated out night two - no apologies -I left disgusted as early as possible on day three - sheer nonsense for a hotel service - suggest avoid - feedback given directly to hotel and to Partners Mackenzie Group Hotels.

Review 33:Ambience Links Golf Course and heritage facade of hotel building - trails around and very attractive West Runton Station platform - nearby town over the bridge about 200meters and ecellent Coast hopper buses - the hotel didn't match any of these.

Review 34:Couldn't get all channels on TV. New room, not properly finished. Phone kept ringing all night, fault on it. Two many up and down stairs. Rooms not finished, and no carpet on the landings. No evening entertainment.

Review 35:Near to station, golf course, friendly staff. Food was hot (most times).

Review 36:Some Reception staff less than welcoming! I reported a broken window catch as window wouldn't stay closed and there was a very cold draft! Sadly my report was ignored despite a 2nd reminder! I also thought the indoor swimming pool could have been warmer!!! Also since you regster for the pool to use it it would be sensible just to keep this one completed form in Reception and then sign and date it on each subsequent visit to use the pool rather than redoing the complete form. Waste of time and paper.

Review 37:Restaurant staff especially polite, effiecient and helpful. The breakfast was brilliant. Freshly cooked and excellent choice. available. Dinner also very good and reasonably priced for the quality and choice. Lovely presentation.

Review 38:Poor lighting in bathroom. Staff a little slow and disorganised, or perhaps under-staffed when busy?

Review 39:Nice old building, free parking, close to sea front, quiet, good breakfast, 9 hole golf course on site.

Review 40:There was a loud humming noise that could be heard all night in my room - the sound was from the cellar fans located outside my window - not a good night's sleep

Review 41:The sports bar staff were friendly and the room was very clean

Review 42:We had an almost brand new room which was fine but access to the room was through an unfinsihed part of teh building. There was no headboard on then bed and the position of the tiny TV on the wall did not make for comfortable viewing.

Review 43:Breakfast was excellent.

Review 44:This hotel is in dire need of a revamp or even a bit of TLC! Worn furniture, threadbare carpets (in places), dated decor in the public areas... And in our room, the paint was chipped (with a section bigger than my hand completely flaked off), a faulty flush... Also we booked a double but it turned out to just be two singles pushed together.

Review 45:Great location - brilliant walks & the beach nearby, and the highly rated Clementine's Cafe just down the road. Big rooms with lovely views & great light coming in. Friendly staff. We got this on a value deal so paid half price, so overall I'm happy. If I had paid full price I think I would feel a bit ripped off. To be fair we didn't try the facilities (golf course, pool) so maybe they add the extra value.

Review 46:We stayed in one of the new rooms, which had everything we needed nice furniture, and a very large bed.Breakfast was really good . Defiantly recommend. A Big thank you to all the staff........

Review 47:I thought our room was very comfortable and the staff where so friendly

Review 48:Room was looking a bit tired and there was no shower. Wifi signal very poor. Public toilets near restaurant were extremely shabby .

Review 49:Had a last minute offer so was good value but wouldn't have been for full price. Hole in one was relaxed and friendly with great value food.

Review 50:The noise of building work,my room wasn't cleaned..No fresh towels and asked staff for towels and was told only 1 available...asked for room to be cleaned and nothing was done, ran out of coffee and tea

Review 51:Just the bed

Review 52:It was quite expensive and the breakfast was quite average. The walls were also quite thin so we heard what was happening next door (in our case it was a child having a tantrum).

Review 53:Clean, comfortable, cosy, good shower, good views. Overall my experiences of the hotel were very pleasant and I'd happily go again if I could get a room for a bit less.

Review 54:Little bit of lateness in getting seated for dinner but worht it when we got there!

Review 55:Staff were very helpful and friendliest I have ever encountered in a hotel. Relaxed atmosphere and food was great.

Review 56:The bill was incorrect. I was initially charged for three breakfasts (I stayed for two nights) and a Dinner I didn't have. The pillows were very hard - even the alternative ones didn't meet requirements.

Review 57:The sea air

Review 58:Decor of public areas a little tired and dated. Wi-fi not working when I stayed.

Review 59:Very clean and comfortable room. 5 minutes drive from Cromer, avoiding town centre traffic.

Review 60:A lovely peaceful location in West Runton. The hotel is walking distance to the beach and a couple of minutes walk to a pretty unmanned station and 5 minutes on train to Cromer, which was perfect for us as there was no need to drive. The room in hotel was large and comfortable and the breakfast and evening meal was excellent. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and I would definitely stay here again.

Review 61:No wi-fi in first room as promised and generally poor especially in some parts of the bar. Next room tired, old and in need of refurb. Ok breakfast eventually. Need to look at details. Nice smiles not enough.

Review 62:Staff were helpful, room ok.

Review 63:lOO IN BEDROOM DIFFICULT TO FLUSH BREAKFAST BADLY ORGANISED WAITED AGES FOR TEA AND COFFEE EVENING MEAL AGAIN WAITED NIGH ON 25 MINS FOR DESERT OBTAINED AN APOLOGY BUT NOT GOOD ENOUGH

Review 64:The lobby was having repairs made which made it have a less than 3 star appearance. There were more signs of repairs being made on the stairwell. Shabby looking towel rail. Only two sets of complimentary drinks for a room that could hold a family of two meant we had to ask for more

Review 65:I loved the setting in which the hotel is. We were greeted with a warm welcome and quickly booked in. The room was very spacious and comfortable. On our return in the early hours the night porter was truly enthusiastic to help us out with additional milk and coffee. Room service breakfast arrived at time requested and food was hot. Luxury feel to room which made is so relaxing

Review 66:we were not informed that the swimming pool was out f use until we got to the hotel which spoiled our stay. I was heavily pregnant then and one of the main reasons we chose the hotel in the first place was the pool.

Review 67:The location, restaurant food (dinner was excellent, breakfast was good), 2 members of staff were very good and got written feedback from us.

Review 68:The food in the restaurant was top class. Breakfast was filling and tasty. The room was a good sized double with large bathroom and the service was excellent. Arrived on a sunny day in this picturesque village.

Review 69:Two Hen Parties staying overnight! Cracked tiles in the bathroom.

Review 70:Great location, excellent rail link (150 Yards to the station) Hardworking friendly staff, comfortable rooms. The Food was excellent!!!!

Review 71:Standard room lacked attention to detail, eg. not enough tea, sugar, only one bedside lamp, no blind or curtain at the ensuite window and workmen directly outside both windows on the roof when we arrived. The view outside the windows was of the grey flat roof, which was very uninspiring and the pool was closed for refurbishment but we were not offered a price reduction.

Review 72:Staff are friendly and accommodating. Fantastic location. Enjoyed the function we had come for. Good sized room with dual aspect.

Review 73:Could have done with play area for children and a shame pool was shut. The distance to the sea was further than expected and the village hgolfas few amenities.

Review 74:Food and staff were good. Convenient for Cromer and other places we wished to visit.

Review 75:Having asked for a reasonably quiet room, I found I overlooked a flat roof with a number of extractor fans/AC units which droned on and off all night, awful view even worse noise and little sleep. Ruined my stay. Bed was on a camber, shower looked great but ran hot/cold with poor flow. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

Review 76:Staff were very professional.

Review 77:Too many things wrong - pool closed (although I had a phone call to let me know this, it should have been made clear at time of booking), WiFi not working, limited television coverage. All of this placed front line staff in the position of constantly dealing with complaints about aspects that were the responsibility of more senior management

Review 78:Front line staff very helpful. Restauraunt good

Review 79:They did not have WIFI for three days, the worse part is that they were not apologetic and only told us 'the owner knows about it'. Even on our first day, we were surprised not to be given the password upon checking in, I bet they did that on purpose. The swimming pool was under service, but to be fair, they had mentioned earlier and paid for our cab to use a pool at another hotel far away. The view from our room was really disappointing as I think we were the only ones that got the view of a roof and nothing else. The door didn't manage to lock on our first day, even with the stuff's guidance. We do not recommend this place.

Review 80:The comfort of the bed

Review 81:Breakfast choice was not the best, basic flakes, juice and cooked. No bread choice...white sliced on offer. Coffee was good but the tea was weak. Probably would not pay for the breakfast if we stayed again we would source one outside.

Review 82:Max was friendly and helpful on reception. The room 225 was large as it was a family room but it had no view to speak of. I think if you were staying for more than one night it would be worth paying extra for a superior room and 214 looked nice. Nicely situated easy access to the coast road.

Review 83:We didn't experience anything we didn't like.

Review 84:We booked at short notice. Two rooms, a single which still had a double bed and a good bathroom and a family room which was huge. The beds were super comfy which we all remarked on and the breakfast was great even at the end of service time at 10.00 am - we are not early risers. Between us we were all back in the early hours of the morning and got great service from the staff on duty even at 1.00 am and after. Would would definately recommend the hotel.

Review 85:Wi-fi wasn't as consistent as expected. Quite slow in some places.

Review 86:Food from restaurant was great. Really good service from all staff members. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Rooms were spacious and comfortable.

Review 87:No pool, they got my order wrong twice on two separate nights at the Hole in one bar, the oil was filthy in the chip fryer. The music they play thoughout the hotel starts at 630am and finished around 1130pm AVOID ROOM 211 the speaker is in the floor !! On leaving we felt fobbed off by the hotel reception staff. I've still not received a reply from they via email

Review 88:Nice location and breakfast

Review 89:I was very shocked when Gemma informed us on Saturday night that all cooks had gone home at 9pm and there was no 24 hour room service available, sonsidering the fact that you have to pay for your own breakfast and the swimmign pool was out of use, we thought at least the hotel would provide a longer room service so was very disappointed to find that , that wasnt the case

Review 90:I would like to say that the customer service from all memebers of staff was out standing and the names that stick out in my mind are Klohe fromt he sprts bar she is a fanstatic little lady and i cant believe you are actually letting her leave, i watched her run that whole bar from serving, remembering drinks, cleaning and making the stay all worth while. I would also liek to thank Matt well by the end of our stay we was calling him Cocktail Matt provided excellent service , George and Nikita was also very memorable members of staff and also remembered our names and gave us great customer service.

Review 91:No complaints, but would recommend a pot of tea or coffee on the breakfast table rather than a waiter/waitress going round topping the cups up.

Review 92:Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, good menu.

Review 93:The recently updated bath unfortunately did not seal against its shower screen. Judiciously placed towel used to prevent wet floor.

Review 94:Very large, clean, twin bedded room. Controllable central heating, and even better, windows that open enough for effective ventilation. Very helpful staff.

Review 95:Paying full price for my 12 year old. No food after 9.30pm No room service. Lack of help or information on arrival.

Review 96:The room was very comfortable Breakfast was nice

Review 97:Free Wi-Fi extremely slow Quality of evening meals varied Confusing dining setup with certain dishes available on the room service menu not being available to order on the restaurant menu and vice versa; the same applies for dishes from their other menu - Certain meals have to be eaten in certain parts of the hotel without exception.

Review 98:Size, layout and comfort of room and bathroom Friendliness of staff Quality of breakfast

Review 99:Poor Wi-fi signal. Whilst the restaurant and food/ menus were excellent, the actual menu is on a blue coloured laminated card, something I would expect at a Greasy Spoon' Cafe.

Review 100:Hotel facilities. Food. Attentive and courteous staff.

Review 101:The restaurant menu cards. The food was great staff great, but the menu cards looked cheap. With desk top printing this could easily be rectified

Review 102:All staff were kind courteous and friendly

Review 103:Pool closed and not told. Offered to travel 7 miles to other hotel pool. Charged £9.65 for kids breakfast! Not that clean

Review 104:Golf course restaurant really good for the kids dinners

Review 105:food,starter is o.k, the main's was not good. starter very poor

Review 106:good location of the countryside, the bed very comfortable, staff very friendly and very worm welcome.we really have had a good break.

Review 107:Even with a "deal" this hotel is not great value for money. Other friends with whom we used to stay here will not come back at present almost London prices

Review 108:extremely friendly and helpful staff and general atmosphere. very relaxing

Review 109:No bad experience.

Review 110:The bedroom was large and airy overlooking the small golf course. Beds were very comfortable. Hotel enjoys a good standard of décor and cleanliness throughout. A good menu selection and food served was very good. Staff most pleasant and helpful.

Review 111:Very comfortable. Attended a wedding and stayed over at the venue. Attention to detail was clear, and the food was amazing. Staff polite attentive and efficient. Would recommend.

Review 112:A cold room, probably from the drafty corridor. Uncomfortable kingsize bed, the usual two twins pushed together. The sauna was not working. The beef stoganoff, almost inedible. The shower control handle came off. Some of the staff could be a little more professional with their customers.

Review 113:Our room was spacious & did have a nice view. Friendly staff Under new management, lets hope they can improve.

Review 114:I requested a ground floor room for my sister who is slightly disabled. It was in the annex part of the hotel and was too cold. The staff couldn't be more helpful and gave her another room in the main building. In the summer the annex would be lovely.

Review 115:The welcoming atmosphere in the reception lounge. All the staff very helpful. The bar and dining areas beautifully decorated for Christmas. Spotless table linen, glasses and cutlery with a wide menu choice. The food delicious. My double room overlooked the front. It was very modern and comfortable. Hope to return soon.

Review 116:The lighting was very poor, needs to be a lot brighter, very few staff around, and did not do a proper vat receipt like most hotels, but if not on business not a problem.

Review 117:Location, facilities

Review 118:The tea and coffee at breakfast was awful, undrinkable and served from large catering style jugs. The lighting and decor in bathroom needs improving.

Review 119:The bar and lounge area were pleasant and comfortable. The swimming pool was good. The location was good for walking. Our rooms were spacious.

Review 120:Small windows, poor views, and bad air ventilation. The toilet fan made lots of noise at night, but if turned off then the room could be smelly. The furnitures are quite old. Bad bed and pillows.

Review 121:Good staff, and ok restaurant. Good golf club.

Review 122:Room over a kitchen courtyard with a vent blowing nightly and making the room stuffy and hot Indoor pool great but could be warmer

Review 123:Great location for everything and train station Good breakfast and nice dining room Large bathroom and bath Bed was very comfortable with good quality linen Very happy over all

Review 124:Wife thought bedroom was not warm enough ,quickly resolved by staff providing temporary radiator

Review 125:Attachment to golf course and cafe bar as a close alternative to hotel . Many walk options for my 2 dogs

Review 126:Broken TV Disco playing late When asked for any allowance was told we should have been told when booking It wont matter in the future we will not be returning, nor will friends

Review 127:Heated Swimming pool was freezing. Kids were really looking forward to the pool but only had 15 mins in there as it was so cold.

Review 128:Great location and a really nice building.

Review 129:a couple of minor points, which did not spoil our holiday but could be improved: - 2 ceiling lights didn't work - asked staff to replace the light bulbs but it turned out the fittings were faulty (no power) - water pressure in the shower could be better but not a killer issue for us - wifi in the room was at best adequate but we went on hols to get away from the computer rather than spend time in front of it so again it wasn't a deal breaker for us

Review 130:- good location, easy to find and a good starting point to explore the local area - clean and tidy - nice hotel-size (i.e. not full 25m) swimming pool - quiet and relaxing, we've had not major problems during our stay and enjoyed the 4-day holiday in Norfolk

Review 131:Only downside to room 222 is the wardrobe space. It had 5 fixed hangersand no room for any others. Very tiny space, not enough room for 2people to hang 3 days worth of clothes. There is definately space inthis room for a bigger wadrobe. This was built in with cupboards, tvunit etc but there was still space to have a bigger one. And therewasn't a phone, which we reported to reception and they were goingto sort it out, at the time of checking out they still hadn't putone in the room. Also the door lock was dodgy, came back one day and thedoor was open, wasn't happy. All using the door make sure you pullit shut properly. And they arn't that forthcoming with the toiletroll had to ask for more as didn't get replaced by the cleaners.

Review 132:We stayed in room 222 and it was excellant, very large room, shower wasmassive. Tv, Tea and Coffee making facility was good. Plenty of room tospread your wings, had 2 comfy chairs and extra table, would highlyrecommend staying in this room The hotel is 2 minute walk from TrainStation, we went to Cromer. Only 20 mins comfortable walk to the sea andbeach. We had sea view. And if you love golf this is the place to be.

Review 133:Booked a Superior family room based the pictures advertised on the MacKenzie website as did not want to stay in one of the Garden Rooms which had previously been very noisy and basic. Pictures were misleading as to our extreme disappointment we found we had been allocated a Garden Room. Staff could not swap our room as fully booked over the bank holiday weekend. Unfortunately our fears were realised when other residents of Garden rooms were socialising in this communal area, drinking and chatting until after midnight. Other residents complained and a notice was put up the following day to remind staff to be respectful of other guests. Having paid £166.00 per night which did not include breakfast, we were also shocked to be charged £12.50 per day (£5 per adult, £2.50 per child) for a leisure pass. We only wanted to use the swimming pool which incidentally was cold. In total we paid £25.00 to each swim for an hour! In previous years no charge was made for use of this facility. In sum we paid £357.00 (room and leisure pass) to stay in a room that could have been booked for a third of the price through travelodge where you at least get what you pay for.

Review 134:Love the location. This was our 4th visit as a family since 2009 and the location is great for Cromer and Sheringham. The staff are friendly and helpful and do their best to help where they can.

Review 135:sharing a room with 3 children, we were led to believe in had a divider! Breakfast was ok, but not that much cold choice. Tennis court needed updating

Review 136:Swimming nice very friendly staff Location nice lovely pub nearby

Review 137:Absolutely awful nights sleep, room above the kitchen music blaring and doors slamming till well past 11pm then started again the next morning. When I complained at reception the next day I only got a pathetic sorry. Would not stay here again or recommended it.

Review 138:Nothing

Review 139:Changing rooms at pool were ghastly. Hotel staff were a okay but not very cheerful

Review 140:the "Hole in 1" restaurant/cafe was nice and the staff were great in there. POol was nice

Review 141:I could not find anything I did not like about this hotel

Review 142:It was very dog friendly, the cooked breakfast was excellent. I loved the harmonious décor in my room and the views were fabulous. The swimming pool was much appreciated by the kids and the hotel supplied the towels which was very convenient. The location was perfect for us, we could take the dog for nice walks nearby and the Shire Horse Sanctuary was only 3 minutes walk from the hotel. We had our meals at the hotel because the food was good. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would love to come back.

Review 143:Room not ready when we arrived, had to wait an extra hour. Restaurant booked for seven o'clock not taken until 7.30pm

Review 144:Location was lovely, we had a sea view. Food choice and quality was very good.
