Reviews for Days Inn Hotel Warwick South - Southbound M40
Review 1:Room heating was a single convection heater which took 2 hours to raise room temperature from freezing cold to comfortable.
Review 2:Basic accomodation for overnight stay. Food etc. available from other motorway frannchises. Smoking allowed in room which was welcome. Plenty of hot water for bath and shower.
Review 3:Room smelled overwhelmingly of damp and felt very humid - no air con or ventilation. Stains on the duvet cover, stains on the drapes. Bed mattress was unbearably uncomfortable, felt like it must be 30 years old as we both kept rolling into to centre of the mattress, terrible night's sleep. Also only one pillow each. Can't believe we paid £49 for what felt like a bad youth hostel. Also, the hotel has not labelled itself properly on Google. Northbound is labelled as southbound and vice versa, so everything is slightly further away than you work out in advance. This is the reason for why I said poor location, its location isn't described accurately.
Review 4:Staff were friendly and room was spacious
Review 5:The room smelt damp and foisty. We had to open a window when we arrived.
Review 6:The bed was comfy and the shower nice and powerful. Reception staff friendly and helpful.
Review 7:Breakfast- has been changed from a continental (excellent) to a takeaway bag - absolute rubbish and shoukd be changed
Review 8:Good stopping hotel Excellent staff
Review 9:The bed was far, far too soft - more like sleeping on a trampoline. A shame, because it spoils an otherwise pleasing experience.
Review 10:A good budget functional hotel
Review 11:The whole corridor smelt of cigarette that's probably cz of someonesmoking in their room.
Review 12:I think foe the price I paid I can't get anything batter
Review 13:There was scaffold out the back of our room 101 that had a cable that literally clanged all night and I woke every hour by it. Also the bed mattress springs were pretty bad, and uncomfortable.
Review 14:Location
Review 15:In some of the rooms the beds need replacing. With very young children, a lift would be appreciated.
Review 16:Very clean. Liked the little extras in the room: hairdryer, tea and coffee, tissues etc.
Review 17:Room position put us right by the loading/unloading area for deliveries and they had some sort of delivery at 5am which went on for about 20 mins. Morning staff member didn't even acknowledge us.
Review 18:Clean room, comfy beds, evening staff member very friendly/helpful.
Review 19:Room was smelly and fittings were shabby. Mattress needed replacing as springs were uncomfortable. Carpet looked dirty.
Review 20:Staff were helpful and friendly. Tea making facilities were adequate.
Review 21:All map engines in the net guide you to the *northbound* hotel not the southbound. This may mean at least 20 miles extra driving, there is no tunnel or bridge cross the highway.
Review 22:The whole of the motel, the public area and our bedroom smelled of cigarette smoke. We had to spray deodorant around the room to get rid of the smell. Also the room appeared quite damp with condensation on the windows when we went in. Although the room was clean the fittings, furniture and the bathroom seemed a little tired. At £50 a night without breakfast we thought this was expensive for a very basic motel room.
Review 23:With the motel being at the services it was very convenient for the motorway, literally off the road and into the hotel.
Review 24:We wanted twin beds, I think you should make it clear when booking that the smoking rooms only have double beds.
Review 25:I liked being able to smoke in the room.
Review 26:My mother and i are pensioners so booked a familyroom. The second bed wasn't made up and it would have been impossible for either of us to sleep there. Thanks to Cairian he changed us to a double. No light from there to main building at night.
Review 27:The evening manager Cairain was lovely and very helpful.
Review 28:Our room spelt fusty on entering, the bed was very uncomfortable, to get the shower warm the power had to be on full which made showering uncomfortable, toilet door would not close
Review 29:The hotel ran out of milk for tea in the room.
Review 30:A spacious & comfortable room, very luxurious towels & an easy stroll to have meals at the motorway cafe building.
Review 31:Nothing
Review 32:The man on Reception (Trainee) was extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful - as soon as I walked in the door. That immediately sets the tone for me. In fact all of the staff are very friendly. I was very pleased with the room, the bed, the facilities, etc. And it was so peaceful - hard to believe its just a short distance from the motorway. Will definitely stay here again.
Review 33:Although the room looked clean it smelled and there was hair in the bathroom. Appreciate that it was cheap (£40) but surely cleanliness isn't too much to expect.
Review 34:The room had everything we needed and was handy for the motorway.
Review 35:Unfortunately the north and south Days Inn have the same postcode so sat nav sent us to the wrong one as it did with 2 couples we spoke to. We had to go only 3 miles but one couple, because the road was closed, had to go nearly 20 miles to get to the correct one.
Review 36:The accommodation was clean, comfy and the room was a good size. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were just 2 miles away from where we wanted to go and 2 minutes from the service area where food was available to buy or eat in.
Review 37:Room for improvement; being on the motorway, access is to surrounding areas is slightly limited due to lack of back roads. Limited facilities. Severely lacking good vegetarian food in the services.
Review 38:Average, no major complaints. Wireless internet access is good.
Review 39:No bad experience just a lack of milk in the room other than that well done
Review 40:The staff being helpful the cleanliness of the room and tea coffee facilities
Review 41:Walk into the room and it stank of smoke, made me feel sick. Went back to reception and asked for another room only to be told they were full. Ask for s refund, refused because I hadn't cancelled before 2pm, eventually got a full refund in the room
Review 42:We stayed two night and our first night was lovely and we had the best nights sleep! On our second we had exstreamly noisy neighbour who kept us awake until 4:30 in morning!
Review 43:Bed was comfatable located good plenty of variety to eat. We stayed two night and would come back
Review 44:Both us and our neighbours had our doors left open after they had been cleaned, very very poor, good job we were on top floor at end out of view(probably would of had things stolen if we were further along) very very unacceptable considering we left £100's of valuables in room, got a apology from receptionist , that was it, breakfast in Harry Ramsden poor value, hotel on opposite side of motorway from sat nav location, had to drive past services, over flyover then back to miles! No where to sit and have a nice meal or any alcohol, bit of a strange place really
Review 45:the receptionist was fantastic, gave us numerous ideas where to eat as only other options were fast food and no bars on site
Review 46:Toilet seat didn't stay up properly. Bed was very springy. Thought the room was a bit dated in comparison to a new decorated room at a Travelodge.
Review 47:The location was great.
Review 48:The room smelt like smoke that bad it gave me a headache. The mattress was really uncomfortable, every spring dug into me and made it very difficult to get comfortable
Review 49:The room it's self was clean apart from what looked like a tea stain on one pillow
Review 50:Room smelt very damp and unpleasant. It cost £5 per dog per stay which meant an extra £10 for a one night stop. Our very clean dogs will not have cost £10 extra in cleaning! We were not asked for our Registration Number by the 'receptionist' which meant we subsequently received a parking fine from Parking Eye who own the services parking.
Review 51:Useful stop-off on a long journey south and the fact that Days Inn accept dogs.
Review 52:Must have missed the fact it was a smoking room. I am very surprised there are any now any. The smell of smoke was most unpleasant both in the room and on the corridor.
Review 53:Convenience to continue our journey.
Review 54:Somehow the information supplied when making our booking failed to establish that this was sited on a motorway service stop some 2 miles south of Warwick. Probably my own fault for not researching more carefully.
Review 55:A cheap overnight stop-over on our way home. Met all of our needs quite well.
Review 56:The room smelt strongly of damp. It was late when we arrived and we were tired and just wanted to shower and sleep. Unfortunately there was no hot water, but the next morning it was fine
Review 57:staff were friendly
Review 58:Reception only expected 2 people not 4. Pull out bed was parly damaged. Fundamental design error - it is not mpossible to put a sheet on pull out beds propely
Review 59:HOuse keeping staff were particularly friendly an dpolite
Review 60:Reception staff were hit and miss...didn't seem to know a lot about what was going on. On checkout, receptionist didn't even speak to me, just took my key and threw it under the desk
Review 61:The lovely cleaning staff - very helpful and friendly
Review 62:The bed was extremely uncomfortable with the feeling that you head is lower than your feet. Bathroom floor didn't look clean as the lino was not great. We arrived at 11 pm or we would of normally complained.
Review 63:We were given a smoker room even though neither of us smoked, room smelt strongly of stale smoke, there was hair in the bath plug hole and hair on the bathroom floor when we arrived and stayed there for the 3 days we were there. The room was right next to the motorway do traffic was clearly heard all night
Review 64:Way overpriced at £75. Windows let in too much noise, needed an extra level of glazing. The bathroom was clean, but the carpet in room 111 was dirty. Lights were functional but harsh and unfriendly. Bathroom fan too loud. We were charged for breakfast; should have been included.
Review 65:The location was perfect and the staff were excellent. Really polite.
Review 66:We were in a room on the motorway side of the motel and the noise was awful. Triple glazing might help! Also bed was 'lumpy' and uncomfortable.
Review 67:The staff were great, really pleasant. The bathroom facilities were good, nice new towels.
Review 68:Days Inn had not received notification of our booking, had been having troubles with their computers though, nevertheless managed to sort out a room for us, just delayed our check in slightly
Review 69:Location Helpful staff Close proximity to shops
Review 70:Breakfast booked from brochure for 4:95stg but when it arrived to door the coffee was the sachet in the room. ( the picture suggested real coffee!!). Sat Nav kept taking us to the other Days hotel at the opposite side of motorway and staff are aware that this happens regularly but could offer no solution/ map just shrugged their shoulders and looked blank. I booked 4 months ahead of schedule and requested a quite room, got woken by a noisey linen collection truck at 5 am. I sent 2 emails to facillity ahead of schedule and got no response. You need to work on customer services. Only 1 member of staff I met was genuinly helpful, ( older lady) the rest not bothered or clued in.
Review 71:convenient location.
Review 72:Had Parking fine! Hotel at fault. Had hassle of sorting it out. Hotel could do better to make sure guests vehicles are checked in properly.
Review 73:Comfortable room. Good facilities.
Review 74:my husband went for a siesta in the afternoon to prepare for the function later on lasting to the early hours of the morning. He never got his beauty sleep as he was waken up by people wanting to clean his room twice. rooms should be cleaned in the morning ot a note 'dont disturb' should be available to be put on the door.
Review 75:independence 24 hour open
Review 76:Good welcome; clean, comfortable room, comfortable bed; appreciated inclusive wifi; worthwhile breakfast option, decent selection at good value
Review 77:Wouldn't recommend the hotel for a holiday but the location on the service area means that it is good for overnight stops during long journeys. The travel cot that was supplied by the hotel wasn't the best and could do with being replaced.
Review 78:Stayed at the hotel for 1 night to break up a long journey, arrived late and left early. Room was clean, bed was comfortable. It served its purpose.
Review 79:The facilities next door used to have a place where you could buy cereals and cooked breakfast ect. The facilities that are there now are not great even the waitrose has poor stock.
Review 80:The location is fabulous for the cotswolds, stratford on avon, oxford, blenheim palace. The list is endless.
Review 81:Not a fan of having to sign in for WiFi - don't want to give my email address out to BT all the time so would prefer just to put a password in. Managed to flood the bathroom a little bit - it's the same with all hotels though, the shower head points at the horrible shower curtain (which are cold and stick to you) and just leaks through. Would be better to have a solid shower screen at least at the front. Not enough plug sockets - we both had phones but had to uplug the TV because the only other socket was so low we couldn't plug the charger in. Not as great as we'd hoped for access to Warwick having to go south and then back on yourself but thats just a minor thing we coped! Oh and we struggled a bit to get the window open.... All minor points though and we would definitely come back :)
Review 82:Easy check in and 24 hour reception which was great for us as we were going to be out until 5am. The room was comfortable and lovely and clean, the shower was great too - quite powerful and they have proper sized towels! A very rare find these days and one that I was genuinely happy about (I'm easily pleased!) Plenty of tea and coffee with a proper sized kettle and free parking very close to the building which made life a lot easier.
Review 83:Rather run down. While water temperature was ok unable to get sufficient hot water to shower head. Shower head controls obviously had been worked on.
Review 84:Friendly reception staff.
Review 85:No real problems, just disappointed the food options were motorway service station standard without an alcohol licence
Review 86:Easy to get to, free car parking for hotel residents, easy access to amenities, nice staff, clean hotel, good rate & most of all not too near the motorway so a lot less noisy than expected
Review 87:Make sure you put in your correct vehicle registration number I was one digit out and had a £100 parking ticket but this was ultimately cancelled.
Review 88:This was a decent location for the NEC and had the advantage of the service station next door for meals etc. This was purely a place to sleep for an early start the next day and parking was easy and free . Decent beds, clean hotel and pleasant staff.
Review 89:Noisy all night because of being located next to the motorway. ( I am a light sleeper so this may not be a problem for others.) Although I was travelling south my sat nav sent me to the northbound Days Inn as it has the same post code.
Review 90:Convenient location and very comfortable beds.
Review 91:Room was cold with a very thin duvet on the bed. There was a banging noise from a nearby flagpole that persisted all night. Furnishings and fittings were tatty. So generally a very uncomfortable stay.
Review 92:Location was convenient being at the service station.
Review 93:tv small shower a little under powered bath not very deep
Review 94:nice and peaceful for a chill-out weekend always have a smoking room thats why we use daysinn
Review 95:Rather more expensive than similar chains, I believe.
Review 96:Easy to book. No hassle upon arrival. Pleasant night porter. Decent and comfortable room. Quiet.
Review 97:We have always found The Days Inn very restful. After our motorway driving. The standard of rooms are excellent. The staff are very friendly and hellpful. Wouldn't hesitate to stay on our next journey.
Review 98:Beds sagged in middle. Twin bed much smaller than main bed. Shower controls were very stiff and difficult to turn off.
Review 99:Friendly staff, good parking, good food services, good value.
Review 100:The room smelt of smoke and urine so asked to change rooms. The second room had a musty smell to it but wasn't as bad.
Review 101:The convenient location and the price.
Review 102:We found the heater rather oppressive, but should have turned it off for the night
Review 103:The receptionist, in spite of being in great pain, and having been on duty. For 9 hours, was pleasant and helpful throughout. The accommodation was much better than the price might have suggested.
Review 104:The shower was way too powerful, when the water hit it hurt! The bed was also a little too soft for me.
Review 105:Staff was friendly, there were spare pillows which some hotels have stopped providing, it was close to where we were going. The room was clean and a fair size
Review 106:Electricity supply failed early in the morning, but restored after I reported to the front desk.
Review 107:Quiet, comfort, facilities in the shops next door, location.
Review 108:Bad customer service. This was a break for my brother and his disabled wife. They wanted a ground floor room with double bed. Got the room but with two single beds. The bedding one one of the beds had not been changed and was covered in blood. A complaint was made desk staff / manager who was not interested. And refused to view it. They are Really disappointed. Full refund and compensation should have been offered straight away.
Review 109:The location
Review 110:The bed was never properly made, the duvet just pulled up over crumpled bottom sheet. We left towels to be re-used but they were not folded, just left piled on top of each other on towel rail. Paper tissues were never replenished over the 3 days. The carpet in the corridors was stained and dirty looking.
Review 111:The room was clean, large and airy. There was good reception on the TV and the shower was powerful.
Review 112:I stayed on a particularly cold 5th November night, and whilst the heating system did provide warmth to the room, it could've been better. The next time I go I will take along an extra layer like a sweater.
Review 113:The location, free overnight parking & Wi-Fi was very convenient for me as a Business Traveller. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable and it was a short stroll from the other service amenities such as Starbucks, Waitrose, KFC, Burger King, WH Smiths. Its much better than some service or roadside motels I have stayed in previously and I will use it again.
Review 114:There's a 'north' and 'south' hotel and we had to drive round twice to be at the right hotel. No address was given at booking.com and this was unclear. Smoking is permitted indoors and in rooms.
Review 115:Good beds, good shower, friendly staff.
Review 116:Smelly shower curtain...it took a little while to locate the sour smell which was evident on entering the room. Carpets need spring cleaning...they looked tired and drab. There is more to do if you want to keep up with Ramada at Oxford Services.
Review 117:Location, free newspaper, clean towels, hot water.
Review 118:Too much traffic noise for a light sleeper (room 5) Moved to quieterroom (121) but it had unpleasant odour.
Review 119:Convenient location, helpful staff, free newspaper, easy parkingeverything in the room worked and there was a bath.
Review 120:Daddy Long Legs: The room contained 13 live and several dead ones when we first moved in ! Many more came to visit, but did not stay (alive) for long. The Bed: Executive Room was advertised with a quality named mattress, our mattress was a no-name, and reminiscent of the quality experienced in my National Service days.
Review 121:Location & Parking very convenient for Southbound Travellers. Our Room at the rear on the ground floor was ultra quiet.
Review 122:The zip code took me to the Days Inn Hotel Warwick on the other side of the motorway. It was very frustrating after two hours of driving on roads under construction.
Review 123:Hotel was older, but it was clean.
Review 124:Hotel was slightly noisey on Saturday night. A large party seemed to be going between rooms but it didn't last too long.
Review 125:Hotel, although on a busy Motorway Service Area, was very quiet which meant a great sleep on each of the 3 nights we stayed. Room was cleaned everyday with fresh towels left if needed. Fridge in our "Executive Room" came in very handy (why don't more places offer them as "Standard"? Brilliant location for exploring nearby Warwick and Leamington Spa. Being on a Service Area also meant a good selection of shops and eateries (although Service Area prices!!! Why???)
Review 126:The bed was a little uncomfortable - quite lumpy and you could really feel the springs! I think it should be replaced soon!
Review 127:The staff on reception were cheerful, helpful and efficient. The room was comfortable and spacious. We were fortunate to be given a room at the rear of the hotel, which made it lovely and quiet. All in all, very good value for money.
Review 128:The staff at reception were very helpful re ady to listen. We found our bed a little uncomfortable and they saw to it being dealt with. Noise levels low. We were on holiday and were pleased to stay here.Made our few days enjoyable.
Review 129:Being sent to the north bound unit via google map.needs to be sorted, wasted 15 minutes getting to the right location.
Review 130:It had everything we needed for a short overnight stay. Comfortable, clean, coffee for the morning.real value for money
Review 131:Noisy delivery at about 5.45 am!
Review 132:Ease and convenience to break our journey. Continental breakfast in our room. Little fuss checking in or out having booked on-line. Room and en-suite provided all we needed.
Review 133:Despite phoning the day before for directions I wasnt informed there were 2 of these hotels and we went to the wrong one which nearly made us late for the wedding we were going to!
Review 134:The only issue we had with the hotel was the directions we got from the hotels website actually took us three miles off the motorway to a town called kineton. If you're goig to give directions they need to be more accurate.
Review 135:Was in really good distance of warwick castle and Stratford. Being a service station there was plenty of places to eat food and it was surprisingly quiet at night.
Review 136:Room 7 week two was the smelliest room I have ever stayed in, firstly the mattress was so badly urinated I turned it over only to find the other side as bad, that aside the room had a very strong damp smell
Review 137:Staff were great, breakfast next door was good, first room 103 week one had no problems
Review 138:Laundry being loaded at six a.m. outside of the bedroom window was very annoying. A lift would have been handy as I have difficulty getting up stairs with knee replacements but not worthy of a disabled room.
Review 139:All staff we met were very pleasant. The discount voucher for breakfast was very welcome - was a good breakfast too !
Review 140:only one castor on bed, leaving it lop-sided. However, this fell off as well so straightened it up. Nowhere to put suitcase unless next to kettle. No hand soap when we arrived, but more was given when asked. ONLY ONE CHAIR IN A TRIPLE ROOM - what's that all about? Only one could sit on a chair, one on the bed. After all the expense of fitting out a hotel, surely an extra chair per room isn't going to break the bank.
Review 141:cleanliness of room and bathroom; spacious room; comfortable beds. Very quiet.
