Reviews for Hôtel le Centenaire

Review 1:Hotel staffs are mostly good, but better English would be better, thoughts those level of hotel should have staffs with better English. Hotel description mentioned that Wifi was free anywhere in the hotel. When I tried to use the wifi in the lobby area, the staff told me that I wasn't allow to use it and won't give me the password for the wifi lobby area. And I was told I can only use wifi in my room, wifi signal is not great. Breakfast is 16 Euros per person, thought it was expensive for what it is, but there isn't much choice around that area.

Review 2:Room was very nice and clean, comfortable. Swimming pool was nice, free car park spaces. Good location for attractions.

Review 3:An excellent hotel both for comfort, price and food. Don't be put off by its location in the centre of town, it is very quiet and excellent value for money.

Review 4:Comfortable bed, large room and bath, felt like home! Breakfast staff were especially friendly and helpful as well as friendly efficient checkout staff.

Review 5:We thought the restaurant was over priced and the food mediocre. The pizza place across the street, actually, had great food and service and offered much more than one would expect from a pizzeria

Review 6:Room was generously sized. Enjoyed having a frig and very substantial storage. Bathroom large as well. . We ordered coffee in our room every day which was promptly delivered and quite reasonable. My regret is that we did not acquaint ourselves more with the town of Les Eyzies which was a great location. And, in retrospect, grateful we chose to stay 5 days in Les Eyzies rather than the larger Sarlat. The former certainly was more charming.

Review 7:The breakfast is expensive at 14Euros, and we didn't realize until the second breakfast that it's possible to order eggs and bacon as would be expected. Also, there was a quality control issue with one of our group at breakfast that would be resolved by a complimentary breakfast in the states, but not here.

Review 8:The restaurant prepares wonderful meals, with a variety of menus, including a multi-course wine pairing. I had the 44Euro "Grastronomique" and was not sorry. The Foie Gras Trilogy as a starter was the best FG dish I had in France, as was the Cheese Course. (The Hotel is rightly named in Martin Walker's novel "The Caves of Perigord" as a local "best place to eat".)

Review 9:The hotel staff was not super friendly. The morning breakfasts were more expensive than necessary, but great pastries and coffee could be gotten a block down the street. The internet was not working during our stay.

Review 10:The hotel was superbly located in the town and for many of the things to do in the area. The family suite was great for 4 people.

Review 11:New decor Reluctance to give extra towels on request Not as welcoming or overall high standard as we have experienced in the past

Review 12:Location Staff in general very pleasant

Review 13:parking is a little tight mattresses were not particularly comfortable, but i've had worse

Review 14:great location nice staff the air of the town smells wonderful - weird, i know, but it really stood out. smelled like frangipani, if you're familiar with those flowers breakfast was typical european breakfast, decent yogurt.

Review 15:Lovely pool. Very comfy bed

Review 16:Menu little restrictive

Review 17:Good location, great staff very helpful, nice annex room but needs ventilation from condensation

Review 18:The internet was extremely unreliable.

Review 19:The location was excellent and the staff were very helpful.

Review 20:WiFi was intermittent Beds were too old/soft= bad for the back

Review 21:Location Bathroom was nice

Review 22:Breakfast could be better

Review 23:Wifi poor in annex

Review 24:Breakfast high for continental, no elevator

Review 25:Great location and off street parking, nice grounds and pool, spoke and understood English

Review 26:Room and food very good

Review 27:No lift .

Review 28:Rooms, pool, seating areas , food , breakfasts , all excellent .

Review 29:A bit too expensive, especially breakfast and drinks

Review 30:Good location, nice pool area

Review 31:Annexe rooms dated, damp and must - would not recommend.

Review 32:Great pool and terrace, good breakfast, friendl staff.

Review 33:Nothing really - we'd happily return Points to note for some might be: *Hotel doesn't have a lift *Outside pool opens May *Hotel overlooking small traffic roundabout; very quiet in April, but would guess could get busy in summer?

Review 34:*Superior room size and style, comfy bed *Welcoming, very professional staff *Lovely breakfast *Peaceful (mid April, start of season) *Well-above most other 3* hotels we've stayed in

Review 35:Nothing

Review 36:Remarkably positioned, excellent cuisine, very friendly staff. All year round heated pool. Fit for business stays as well as for tourism. We hope to come back

Review 37:First of all the couple who run this hotel are warm friendly and very professional. Everyone on the staff had a friendly greeting and smile for us. The hotel is beautiful and the location is perfect for seeing the caves and centrally located for eating and shopping. Gourmet restaurant in the hotel. I wanted to stay longer and the pool is fabulous.

Review 38:The staff were friendly , but over run. One waitress looking after the dining room meant lengthy delays. No tea making facilities unless requested. Rooms simple, and in need of maintenance . Deluxe room over priced .

Review 39:The location was ideal. The food was very good.

Review 40:Please provide coffee/tea making facilities in the rooms and/or make breakfast inclusive at this price.

Review 41:Extremely convenient location. Private secure parking. Delightful grounds with careful attention to detail and maintenance. Rooms are attractive and comfortable and represent good value for money in the mid-season period when we stayed . Helpful and attentive staff and good English spoken if needed.

Review 42:It's a matter of taste. It is well decorated but more like a chainhotel and lacked the charm of older small chambres d'hotes. The townof Les Eyzies is not particularly note worthy except for the setting bythe cliffs and the museum. The hotel was quite empty when we stayedwhich was a bit eerie.

Review 43:The location was convenient for visits to the prehistoric sites wewanted to see. The hotel has all the modern amenities, and we had nocomplaints about service or comfort. The room and bathroom were fairlylarge unlike many of the small hotels in France, the bed was verycomfortable and the heated towel rack was handy for drying some lightlaundry we had to do. Parking was easy on site.

Review 44:Seemed like a nice, small, family-run business. Room was very comfortable with very clean, updated bathroom. Nice bonus was the towel warmer and bidet. Some rooms have balconies, but ours just had a nice window. This is slightly off the main street, but just a short walk to the Museum of Prehistory and lots of restaurants. Our room had a mini-bar and we had the buffet breakfast every morning (we stayed 4 nights).

Review 45:We liked this hotel so much we stayed for 4 days having initially booked for 2. THe staff were friendly and the room was very pleasant. Fairly large with a good sized bathroom for a fairly standard room ( for this hotel). Outside the pool is in an amazing setting. The pool is not heated - but the effect of the sun means it is not cold - but quite fresh and refreshing on a hot day. Air conditioning in rooms - a big plus. The location is great for Les Ezyies ( great in itself) and the surrounding area. We did not take breakfast in hotel but walked into town for cheaper option Evening meal at the hotel was really nice if slightly pricey. Plenty of other good restaurants within 5 minutes walk..

Review 46:It is not the receptionist's fault that breakfast starts so late (8am). This is hopeless for visitors to the cave paintings. They have to be at Font de Gaume ticket office (September onwards) from 7 am if they want to make sure they get tickets for that day. I was at the office by 7.45 (23rd in the queue - only 30 tickets available) so obviously I had not been able to eat. Also, my first ticket was for a 9.45am tour so I didn't manage to get something to eat until 11.30 am. By this time I was beginning to feel unwell because I was so hungry. Surely the hotel can accommodate itself to the needs of its guests.

Review 47:The receptionist was excellent.

Review 48:We were on a reduced deal & I still thought it was expensive although we never got to use the pool. The restaurant was expensive so we didn't eat a meal there. Breakfast was OK but nothing special which made it overpriced. Decor was a bit dated.

Review 49:We enjoyed our stay. Great location, short walk to cafes/restaurants, perfect base for e xploring Perigord region & visiting caves. Short drive to Dordogne and famous villages. Les Eylies is a lovely unpretentious village unlike other highly touristy villages.Accommodation was great-drinks a bit steep though!

Review 50:Excellent and friendly staff working hard to please their guests. Generous sized rooms. Superb location.Lovely garden area. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this area.

Review 51:Nice hotel in centre of town , dinner was fabulous , only had breakfast the first morning – found a better and cheaper café a short walk into town . The pool was great . WIFI worked ok and off street parking ample

Review 52:This may be my favourite hotel that I have ever stayed at!! It wasbeautiful; even the parking lot looked like a postcard! The staff wasvery concerned about us and helpful. The food in the restaurant wasunforgettable -- I had a plate of lobster and scallop ravioli that Iwill be thinking about for a long, long time! The room was quiet andlovely; and the location within easy walking distance of the whole town.I loved it!!!

Review 53:Food and drinks a little expensive.

Review 54:It was like a hidden gem at the end of the village of Les Eyzies - the pool area was lovely - great sun loungers, nice cushions, garden, flowers, parasols. Also poolside service for drinks and snacks. The rooms were very pretty and lots of little bottles of beauty products. Very good location for visiting all the nearby cro-magnon caves. Very good cave at Les Gazelles - nicely renconstructed.

Review 55:No elevator, and too exspensiv breakfast, 12 eurs for continantal breakfast

Review 56:Beautiful hotel well maintained, with gorgeous corners tastefully designed around.

Review 57:Having stayed here 2 years ago we came back.It seems the hotel has been a little neglected since then. But it has brand new and young owners ( less than a month) and I am sure if the cooking is an indication of how they plan to run the place it will soon be getting back to the top. Everything would hugely improve by some fresh paint and the dining room could do with loosing the very dated curtains. We wish the new owners all the best for a bright future.

Review 58:The hotel has a very well kept garden, nice and clean swimming pool and the food was very very good.

Review 59:It was all good, nothing bad.

Review 60:The hotel is beautiful, comfortable and in a great location.

Review 61:Warm & hospitable, relaxed but professional.

Review 62:The breakfast and hot drinks could be a lot better.

Review 63:The pool and location are perfect. The bathroom of room 2 was fabulous.

Review 64:Nice location and a very good restaurant.

Review 65:Just everything!!!

Review 66:Prices of meals rather expensive.

Review 67:Lovely gardens and pool area. Relaxing setting.

Review 68:Very nice pool area and a good restaurant.

Review 69:Expensive and a little tired on the decor side

Review 70:It had a swimming pool but was not too warm

Review 71:Excellent value for money, great location and internal layout with pool and gardens. Terrific food and friendly staff.

Review 72:Hotel rooms, staff friendliness, fantastic menu. Pool and pool area.

Review 73:very friendly. situated in the middle of the village. familiar atmosphere. good food.
