Reviews for Kings Head Inn, Warwick

Review 1:The room felt a little grotty to be honest. I found the bed very uncomfortable and did not sleep well (I woke at 3.30am and bailed out at 6am!) The carpet was stained and there was nothing to put my things on so I had to put things on the floor.

Review 2:Staff were friendly.

Review 3:Really friendly and interested staff and owners made us feel very welcome in Warwick. We misheard breakfast time and were late by 15 mins but the staff and owner said it wasn't a problem and served us a full English breakfast and did not rush us to leave the restaurant. We were on holiday after all and they added to an excellent weekend away. I left some boots behind in the room and it was no trouble for them to post them home to me in Wiltshire. We wholly recommend the Kings Head Inn in Warwick. Thankyou Ozwalder and staff. From The chatty sisters !

Review 4:Checkout is very early, we were asked to leave, did not really even have time to have breakfast, room is very basic and old, everything is sqeaking, don't really recommend for a pleasant stay

Review 5:Walking distance from Castle, free parking on site

Review 6:car park tight. room small. evening meal overcooked no desk or chair to work at with computer. a bit overpriced

Review 7:nice staff breakfast was good, close to town center

Review 8:Rooms and on-suite badly in need overhauling, ok for one night, not very good for longer periods. One room was being decorated, hope they do the rest.

Review 9:Bar area very inviting, staff very friendly

Review 10:Well- don't use room 4! The pubs signage hangs on the wall outside the window that doesn't shut (really doesn't - like its been painted open)- the sign blowing in the breeze clanged all night until the traffic took over approx 5a.m. Didnt think to take ear plugs.

Review 11:The breakfast was great and the staff very attentive during breakfast

Review 12:Room was a little tired and needs refurb, but none the less was warm and clean, beds comfy. What more do you want?

Review 13:Friendly welcome by host and staff. Food was second to none and 5 minutes walk to town centre and castle.

Review 14:Furniture (other than the bed) was cheap. Lighting levels very low (hard to read). Shower room was rather cold and not particularly beautiful. But this isn't an expensive place to stay so perhaps these criticisms are a little unfair.

Review 15:A friendly and cheap pub conveniently located 5 minutes walk from the centre of Warwick. Warm, clean and newly decorated room with comfy bed and TV. En-suite shower room. Good choice of beer and a pleasant bar. Great cooked breakfast.

Review 16:Dark paintwork and low lights created a gloomy atmosphere in both public rooms and bedroom. Bathroom was rather tired (but everything worked).

Review 17:Location. The pleasant staff and the good "pub" food (albeit limited menu).

Review 18:Room shabby not the cleanest I've stayed in lot of dirt at back of bed handles falling of drawers bathroom shabby and door only shut when locked would only take a man with a screwdriver to make a few simple repairs

Review 19:friendly staff nice food

Review 20:The stairs are not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

Review 21:Good location and parking. Room was lovely. Staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast and evening meal were excellent.

Review 22:The doors tend to slam which woke me with a start early in the morning. No remote control for the TV. I could hear next doors TV so I am sure they could hear mine. Little things so not too bad.

Review 23:Really old public house with lots of old features. Would stay again if travelling to Warwick

Review 24:Our room can't have been one of the reburbished rooms. Mould in the shower, nails coming out, and the wallpaper was coming off. No soap provided in the bathroom. One of the steps on the stairwell gave way under foot and caught your heel. First dinner was amazing, second was almost inedible. Dining room tables sticky.

Review 25:Good sized twin beds. Chatty staff. Good breakfast.

Review 26:Smell of chip fat, threadbare carpet, window open with a piece of wood, holes in the bedspread, bathroom door can't be shut no lock, walls so thin you can hear whatever!!!!

Review 27:Nothing

Review 28:Pleasant old pub in a good location. The room I stayed in could be doing with a bit of modernization. The rooms at the front of the pubs are on a busy road and there is a bit of road noise. Overall very good value for money.

Review 29:Small car park but not really a problem as I am an excellent driver :-) Rooms could do with an uplift!

Review 30:The location was excellent for walking into town and to the Castle

Review 31:Getting heavy suitcases up the stairs was a bit of a effort.

Review 32:The location is very convenient especially for those arriving by train. As a B&B it provides a good breakfast, basic accommodation and good value.

Review 33:The cleanliness was bad clock so dirty could only touch with Kleenex in hand No drawers worked to store clothes in cupboards No phone in room Had to get assistance to get TV to work Only pink lite bulbs so no reading at night and no chair to sit on Window could only stay open being held up by piece of wood Disappointing

Review 34:The bedding was okay and the location to town good The breakfast was not bad

Review 35:I wouldn't say bad, but the room was a little sad. The toilet seat was too small for the bowl and therefore began to collapse when sat on. The curtain tie back hooks came out of the wall. The hot tap was loose so swivelled when it was turned off.

Review 36:The staff were very friendly. The situation was excellent, so near to the town and other amenities.

Review 37:Old and quirky inn that could do with some renovations here and there. But the wonderfully hospitable and helpful owners and staff totally made up for it. We were treated as friends and they took a real interest in us.

Review 38:The plug in the sink in the bathroom wouldn't hold water. The wardrobe and chest of drawers very cheap and rickety.

Review 39:The location was excellent for the Castle. The Staff were very friendly and obliging. The room quite comfortable.

Review 40:The carpet in room was very stained and worn .also we could of done with a chair or two in room .

Review 41:The location was good but a lot of traffic noise .the staff were very friendly and the bar food was excellent .

Review 42:Stair area was grotty, carpet dirty etc Bathroom door did not close Shower not well fitted in refurb. Toiletries barely adequate Bedroom carpets poor TV too small given distance from bed (no chair) and so sound was up loud distorted and picture tiny. On the road but double glazed however the outer sash window was very difficult to close. Cooked element of breakfast was OK but only cereal as cold option and this tasted a little stale to me. There is much better nearby for not much more and a place very close that is a lot cheaper and if it just a "fuctional" stopover bed probably better value overall.

Review 43:Location is good wifi works and is included Parking

Review 44:Bed alittle uncomfortable for me and alittle noise from road side

Review 45:Staff we're great, good food and ok accomadation bed alittle uncomfortable for me but may suit others and alittle noise as we was road side but the staff we're great and very accomadating to us and we was able to leave our car in car park whilst visiting the castle Which was a great help with a young child I would recommend this as a place to stay

Review 46:While the hotel is very old and still got a lot of character, it could be cleaner and is in need of a bit of paint, but otherwise is very much what you would expect from a building that is nearly 400 years old.

Review 47:The hotel is in a good location, near to town centre. The food was excellent.

Review 48:Bed too soft (but each to their own preference), no Wi-Fi (even though Wi-Fi box was in the apartment next to TV). Needs hovering

Review 49:Friendly and helpful staff Location, location, location - spot on for visiting the Castle!

Review 50:Were two flights up, so wi-fi signal was practically none existent. Was a shame as we wanted to watch the live feed from the Folk Festival concert that we did not have tickets for.

Review 51:Location FAB, breakfast FAB, hosts FAB

Review 52:The room was extremely dated in decor. The bathroom was dated and tatty. The adjoining door to another room had a huge gap beneath it. The bed was so squeaky we had to put the mattress on the floor to be able to sleep. Very disappointing

Review 53:The freshly cooked breakfast was very good.

Review 54:Old type of windows, single glazed: the sound of the busy street was not attenuated. Access is from the groundfloor pub with a very narrow staircase from the back. How safe would it be in the event of a fire emergency?

Review 55:Very comfortable bed Quite cheap Located near city centre

Review 56:Room above noisy street + walls are thin = sleepless night. No fault of hotel though!

Review 57:Friendly, warm welcome. Clean room and ensuite. Great breakfast.

Review 58:Very poor quality rooms Steep staircase to rooms When hot, poor ventilation Stained carpets in bedrooms probably from dogs staying in bedrooms

Review 59:The friendly staff

Review 60:There was no hot water on saturday afternoon

Review 61:All the staff very friendly and helpful 150 yards to town square and 500 yards to the Castle. Breakfast was good and evening meals were excellent. Try the pasta dishes they are Lovely.

Review 62:On busy, noisy road. Bedroom not so clean and one room very small.

Review 63:Breakfast was good. Staff were helpful in posting on to us something we had left at the Inn after moving on.

Review 64:Bed cover quite dirty. Room located at front of house so quite noisy. Pillows on bed quite flat and hard. Shower a bit small and nowhere to put soap or shampoo. Overall not able to sleep well.

Review 65:Staff very friendly and helpful. Good location. Food at breakfast and for dinner was very tasty and hot.

Review 66:It's awful to have to say this, particularly as someone'slivelihood is involved, but this Inn is dreadful. Our room was verygrubby; the room carpet was badly stained, the shower drain grubby andthe loo roll holder fell off the wall. The whole place is in need of adeep clean and refurbishment. It is located on a noisy road. I hadbooked for two nights, I checked out after one, and resented having topay for the second night. I cannot in all conscience recommend this Inn.

Review 67:The greeting on arrival was friendly. The pasta dish for eveningmeal was good.

Review 68:My girlfriend has a nut allergy and after a bit of discussion we worked out that the breakfast could be altered to cater for her. The breakfast was great.

Review 69:rather small and tucked away. Everything a little tired , but it is an old building. If you want modern and up to the minute go elsewhere. Traffic can also be a little noisy

Review 70:The effort to provide the visitor with everything needed was second to none.. iron and ironing board, hairdryer, tea and coffee making equiptment etc. Staff friendly and helpful. Also has it's own car park and there is a Sainsbury almost next door. Very handy for visit to Warwick.

Review 71:Its not a case of not liking anything, its simply that they are doing renovation work as the inside is a tad tired. If you have trouble climbing stairs you might find it awkward to get upstairs as well.

Review 72:Easy to find with a very short stroll to the Market Place and castle. Free parking and Wi-Fi and we were allowed to leave our car there for the 2nd day although we were not actually staying.

Review 73:Decor getting tatty. .. In Bathroom of room5 the thick dirt and dust on ventilation fan shold be removed .

Review 74:Breakfast good . Old style pub . convenient for Warwick visit . friendly staff

Review 75:The only issue I had was the stairs being narrow and steep a little bit difficult to climb with luggage but this is in character with the building

Review 76:Made to feel at ease and felt the place as it's own character food portions sensible sizes staff very pleasant

Review 77:Just needs a little decorating in hall going to rooms and can be a bit noisy but i think thats due the building is old

Review 78:Lovely homemade food, good breakfast staff really friendly willing to help, clean bedding and room will definitely go back

Review 79:x2 single beds rather than one double, radiator a bit noisy. Bathroom could do with extractor fan.

Review 80:excellent, happy staff, very helpful. Good parking. Superb location, right next to the town centre, close to the castle.

Review 81:Bar was beneath my room, noise from people downstairs meant I could not get an early night on occasion. Apart from that not much.

Review 82:Friendly staff, pleasant environment. Food is very good.

Review 83:No bad experience or even close - some of the finishing could be a bit better, but that's a minor quibble.

Review 84:Very welcoming and friendly staff, excellent food and handy having Sainsbury's unobtrusively very near by.

Review 85:Owner and family were very nice. Breakfast was lovely, just the right size and cooked perfectly. Good location to visit the castle and the town of Warwick itself. Room was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed.

Review 86:The bar area could do with more comfy seating, lighting to be more dimly lit and would like to have seen the lovely open fire burning, then we would have stayed for a few drinks.

Review 87:Lots of character, helpful staff, clean and comfy bed. Breakfast was nice and good selection.

Review 88:Nothing exactly, although the bathroom and lavatory were dated and the flush was more than a little temperamental.

Review 89:The staff, the food and the location

Review 90:the room was a good size but not as comfortable as i had hoped for , would also like to have had a larger tv in the room.

Review 91:staff were lovely and nothing too much trouble. food was good and not long to wait also fair price - wine was very reasonable.

Review 92:Could do with blackout blinds or thicker curtains as street light right outside the room I was in

Review 93:Lovely old inn with friendly staff who made me feel very welcome

Review 94:There was nothing we didn't like but to be picky, the wall-mounted TV was very small for the size of the room and it was not possible to open the window.

Review 95:Good location; few minutes walk to the town and castle. Bedroom clean and comfortable and a decent size. Bar menu was not extensive but the food was very tasty. Breakfast the following morning was very good. Would recommend this Inn as an ideal base for exploring Warwick

Review 96:Only minor quibbles like one of the plug sockets not working and the small car park. Rooms weren't that luxurious, but were more than adequate for the money.

Review 97:Very friendly and obliging staff, decent breakfasts and an interesting old building. Pleasant atmosphere overall.

Review 98:The shower/bath was not of good standard - I could not bring myself to use it, so would not be inclined to book a longer stay. Communal stairway was dirty. Electrical unit in hallway hummed constantly.

Review 99:Self catering property with parking and good facilities close to Castle & Town Centre.

Review 100:Rooms are awful, Beds where worse i have ever had the misfortune of sleeping in . Very tired and dated decor needs a lot of work and refurb.

Review 101:Staff where friendly and hospitable, Location is pretty good .

Review 102:Our room was next to the very busy main road so traffic noise was a big problem and started very early in the morning.

Review 103:The location was perfect for our purpose and the breakfast was really nice.

Review 104:Small tv in room, too far away from the bed.

Review 105:Location was excellent The fact breakfast was made once you sat on your table, meant that food was warm when brought over, tasted good. Been able to call a number in order to get in after a certain time was helpful. Staff were polite and very friendly.

Review 106:Twin room with only one tumbler, shampoo and tea spoon. A bedside table lamp you could not read from (so dim). Hairdrier that nearly caught fire.

Review 107:Breakfast, the bed and location.

Review 108:Noisy chiller unit outside bedroom window that ran all night. Broken sash window that was held open with a piece of wood! Poor and very tied looking decoration. Very over priced. Bathroom mirror was to high. Water leak damage had not been repaired.

Review 109:Close proximity to Warwick Castle.

Review 110:We were not informed either online or when contacted for a deposit that the pub didn't serve food on a Sunday. After a day of travelling with young children this was a definite negative. When we asked for suggestions on where to eat, she said Wetherspoons woukd be the only thing open. While out walking the next day we found plenty of other options were available so with a map or adequate directions we could have had a more pleasant evening. Check-in staff didn't provide wifi information, nor was this available in the apartment. Springs were uncomfortable in the double bed.

Review 111:Bedrooms and living space were a good size.

Review 112:The rooms were more than tired. They were in need of a complete overhaul. Still, for the price if it were modernised just a little I would go back, but I could not recommend the rooms as they are.

Review 113:Staff were so helpful and the breakfast just wonderful. The location was super too. There was free wifi and parking on site.

Review 114:The room had no glasses for a drink and the bed was very hard. The bathroom was very large but could do with upgrading as the taps were discoloured and the decor was tired.

Review 115:The breakfast was very good- and the man who served it was helpful and friendly .. The dining room was clean and tables were nicely laid with flowers.

Review 116:My room number 2 needed updating . there were a couple of faultsnin the room. A socket which had been broken so that it would fut around a skirting board' which meant part if the socket was exposed. The toilet system was loose from the wall and wobbled when using it.

Review 117:Great staff Good location Good food

Review 118:Small tv remote not working well. Floorboards a little loose. Bathroom door didn't shut properly. Hair dryer worked intermittently. Rubbish under bed on arrival.

Review 119:The location and the food was good. Staff very friendly

Review 120:Seating area not really a seating area, I ordered a dearer room for this because of a bad back as I would be unable to sit on a bed all the time we were in the room, Chair not very comfortable.(and only one). Would have been nice to have been given a bottle of water with the tea and coffee facilities, glasses were there but we were told not to drink the tap water. For £90 a night I think we should have had some water, and perhaps a couple of mini packs of biscuits with the tea/coffee. The room we were in was sufficient, a good size but bathroom had old pink suite, a bit dated.

Review 121:Staff were very helpful, welcoming and polite. Meals were all good and reasonably priced. Room was a good size and clean. Comfortable large bed.

Review 122:The staff were really friendly and helpful, advising us on places to eat and visit, the weather forecast, giving directions, taking our bags to our room, asking how our day had been... I could go on. We enjoyed the food, though perhaps Sunday service would be nice. The room was spacious and comfortable, and having a teddy bear waiting for us was a cute touch! It's also very well located, only a few minutes walk from the town centre, castle, and plenty of places to eat. A short walk out of town also leads to the canal, which made for a pleasant walk one evening.

Review 123:My only criticism was that the room was so hot and there was no fan so a sleepless stuffy night .

Review 124:The staff at the kings head were outstanding, friendly and welcoming, the room we stayed in was very spacious even with four of us. The quality of the food was wonderful, plentiful, and fairly priced. The location of the kinds head is great, only a five min walk to Warwick castle gates.

Review 125:it's all a bit old and tired. and the room we had faced the back where a generators was going all night so could not have the window open and it was hot.

Review 126:Nice people.

Review 127:Fairly jaded, website photographs are misleading of the general quality of rooms. Hotel Car Park very small and street parking very difficult in this area. Need to be back before bar closes as there is no key for hotel access - effectively a curfew! Meals stop fairly early - 2030.

Review 128:Friendly Staff Good beer

Review 129:Slightly loose shelf in the bathroom.

Review 130:Friendly staff Great breakfast Wonderful evening food Comfortable rooms Secure parking Great location for Warwick centre, Castle & other bars & restaurants Relaxed atmosphere, not fussy or prim.

Review 131:Room 5 generally very tatty and old . Net curtains needed washing. Light pull in bathroom filthy-needs replacing. Needs more seating in the room.

Review 132:Good car parking. Staff polite and helpful. Breakfast good.

Review 133:Rooms not particularly clean

Review 134:Handy location

Review 135:No chair but cosy at least.

Review 136:|Good value and clean.

Review 137:The staff were so friendly and the breakfast was really nice.

Review 138:The staff were very friendly and helpful with good local knowledge.

Review 139:freshly cooked and very tasteful breakfast friendly staff location

Review 140:The shower was either boiling hot or freezing cold. Could not get it to a middle heat!

The Fine Print

Please note that the pub does not serve food on Sundays.
