Reviews for Baileys At Springfields

Review 1:Nothing

Review 2:We were made to feel welcome. The extra little touches were lovely. We had an early start the next morning and the landlady put herself out to cook a delicious early breakfast. She couldn't have been more helpful.

Review 3:Dawn is a delightful lady and excellent hostess. Bedroom comfortable, room nice and warm and the breakfast was lovely. Eggs done to perfection! Oh, and the tomatoes..... Will definitely stay again when in Ely.

Review 4:Room small and Internet connection was poor in room. Toilet/shower area was small. Overall the accommodation was over priced. Exit on to main road was difficult.

Review 5:Pleasant owner clean and tidy.

Review 6:The offhand manner in which my request to arrive at 3.30 pm was greeted (I was told "1.30 pm (not us) and now 3.30 pm - when am I supposed to go out?" (don't run a business is the response!) The complete over the top clutter of the place - dust traps everywhere etc etc etc. Could feel the slats through the mattress in the bed. This was not a cheap B&B but a relatively expensive overnight stary. I agree with all that is said by others who are more open about their experience!!

Review 7:Breakfast

Review 8:A great welcome. A charming room with en suite, overlooking the garden with rabbits and birds. A lovely freshly cooked breakfast with lots of fruit available. Quiet and elegant. I enjoyed my visit.

Review 9:Inflexibility - we asked if it was possible to have a slightly earlier breakfast (20mins) as we had an early starting event, this couldn't be accomodated. We also asked if it was possible to get a slightly later check out (1hr) so we could get back from our event and shower before leaving, this could not be accomodated either :-(

Review 10:The room was clean and well presented and our host was welcoming

Review 11:I think the mattresses on the beds could do with refreshing as mine felt old and worn out.

Review 12:breakfast was wonderful and host was very warm and welcoming. Although by a relatively busy road on the A10, room was very quiet.

Review 13:Warm and hospitable host. Room had all I needed and more. Excellent breakfast. Location was out of town but within comfortable reach. Though situated off a busy main road there was no traffic noise. Would stay again without hesitation.

Review 14:Separate bathroom but a good one. Slightly difficult to find the entrance.

Review 15:welcoming, well presented and lovely view of rear garden and excellent breakfast

Review 16:Breakfast early on a Sunday would be nice if was available to 10am . The food was very nice , breakfeast table laid , strawberries/melon /etc and all the extra touches ,

Review 17:This lady is old school , and knows her stuff ,and was very helpfull and the deco and breakfast was great and I even got an extra sausage , great ray and merv

Review 18:We liked the quiet location and the very pleasant room in a beautifully appointed home. We were made most welcome and wished our stay had been longer.

Review 19:This B&B was comfortable, clean and well appointed. Mrs Bailey was very welcoming and helpful and breakfast was delicious and convivial. We were only staying one night, but would rate it excellent value and would book again.

Review 20:Not a bad experience but the décor is very tired, towels were definitely off-white and hard; biscuit container obviously hadn't been washed for a while; wet spoon had been used in sugar bowl. Attention to detail needed - clean mirrors properly; wipe thick dust from edges of bedside cupboard etc.

Review 21:The bed was comfortable.

Review 22:Hadn't realised my room was not fully ensuite but dedicated bathroom across corridor was fine, given that a bathrobe was provided!

Review 23:Comprehensive facilities in the room with excellent breakfast on Minton china.

Review 24:Quite a few rules , breakfast to be ordered by 8.30 , shared dining table with other guests, poor wifi signal, rooms are very , very feminine & have lots of ornaments

Review 25:Nice helpful landlady ,property had pretty gardens, good standard of cleanliness , breakfast was good & plentiful,

Review 26:For 2 of our nights we were very aware of our adjacent guests using the bathroom facilities. The dividing wall is thin and not well insulated so our sleep was badly disturbed on 2 nights.

Review 27:The delightful owner who couldn't be more helpful if she tried. Wonderful breakfasts and genteel surroundings.

Review 28:Booking.com website advised 15 min drive to Newmarket races but it was a 40 min and £40 each way taxi fare

Review 29:Very clean and welcoming, friendly and helpful owner good breakfast

Review 30:Commonplace and unremarkable service & accommodation with some unnecessarily fussy - almost meticulous rules for visitors - and way too much knick-knackery. It all made for a completely underwhelming stay.

Review 31:Easy access to al the rooms - they are on gound floor (bungalow) with own entrance

Review 32:Nothing .... it was a.perfect end to our 10 day trip

Review 33:It was so clean comfortable & warm. We couldn't ask for anything more. Every detail was perfect with the best of everything provided along with a lovely smile.

Review 34:the standard of the breakfast was pretty poor ,the portions very small ,compared to other b&b s in the Newmarket area.

Review 35:the location was easy to find. not much about the area where you could eat.

Review 36:We would feel sorry for someone who finds fault with Baileys at Springfields!

Review 37:Dawn is a delightful lady whose exuberance and total commitment to providing excellent service and value for money is reflected in her beautiful home. Nothing is too much trouble and we were made to feel very welcome indeed. This was our second visit. We shall return!

Review 38:Difficult to locate at night. Might be useful to consider an illuminated sign.

Review 39:Spotless room. Good location for Ely Off road parking Friendly owner and accommodating for an early start in the morning

Review 40:Nothing to add.

Review 41:A friendly welcome from the owner on arrival and throughout my stay. She really wants to make guests feel comfortable. The little touches in the room make a difference for example hand wash and matching hand lotion, fresh milk and china cups. My room was warm spacious and very comfortable and I was fortunate enough to have a private bathroom. Breakfast is freshly cooked and of a good quality. As a single female traveler I felt very safe staying here. If I'm in the area I will book to stay here again.

Review 42:Welcome was curious. "Why have you parked not in front of the house". Didn't know I had to. I mentioned that the room was very warm & thought of turning the radiator off. Didn't turn it off & noticed the room was chilly in the morning. Was told "you wouldn't leave your heating on all night at home". I was asked what time I would like breakfast. I mentioned 8.30am would be fine. I didn't know I wasn't wanted till 8.30. Arrived at 8.15 & was told "are you early or me late". I said there was no rush. I couldn't get through to the breakfast room because it was locked, so had to go outside & come through the front door & mentioned the door to the breakfast room was locked. I was told they wouldn't leave the door open all night. Never stopped at this b & b before. The owner had an attitude which did not agree with me. If I asked a question she jumped down my throat. By the way, the breakfast was skimpy.

Review 43:Cleanliness.

Review 44:Only niggle in our room was the bedlights were covered by a pelmet to mask them, this makes it awkward to sit up in bed and read.

Review 45:Dawn is a lovely hostess, bright, chatty and welcoming. Breakfasts were excellent, good parking and private entrance to the rooms.. Set on the A10 which is busy but traffic noise is not a problem even with a window open. The views over the garden are pleasant.

Review 46:Over powering smell of fresh air spray. Uncomfortable mattress. Too many Nick nacks and family memorabilia Problems making a full English. En suite very tiny.

Review 47:Convenient

Review 48:Entrance to house could do with a couple of reflective posts to make it easier to find. The only negative was that next door was another bathroom which has a fan attached to light switch. This can wake you up when people go to the toilet during the night.

Review 49:Very friendly atmosphere and room was nicely laid out and very clean. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 50:The beds were covered in cushions and teddy bears which was annoying when trying to get in to bed! We had been to a party and would have liked breakfast later. Dawn originally said it was at 8.30 and we managed to agree on 9am, but for a Sunday I think a later option would be better. The rooms are too fussy for our liking as we are not in to cherubs, fairies and frills.

Review 51:Dawn was helpful and pleasant on arrival and at breakfast. Rooms are clean with tea/coffee making facilities. The beds were comfortable and it was lovely and quiet even though it is on a busy road. Very convenient for Ely and a taxi only £6.

Review 52:Friendly and welcoming - nothing was too much trouble. A good nights sleep and ample breakfast to start the day. This was good value for money, and I have no hesitation in recommending this B&B.

Review 53:Having a separate bathroom. A car is needed to travel into Ely to eat or back down the busy main road towards Cambridge as there is nothing within walking distance.

Review 54:Dawn is an excellent hostess. If you need anything you just have to ask. Excellent cooked breakfast. The location near to Ely is brilliant and park and ride available a few miles away if travelling into Cambridge.

Review 55:Unfortunately our room was slightly cold. Full english breakfast the following day made up for it.

Review 56:Excellent experience in a traditional B&B. Excellent full English breakfast the following day made up for all coldness. You feel at home "service with a smile"

Review 57:Decor dated. Not given info about anything on arrival. Cold room. Cards not taken and notice about this behind a closed curtain so had to go out early to find cashpoint. Host was brisk and unfriendly.

Review 58:Price

Review 59:A little tricky to find as the property is on a main road (but there is no traffic noise in the rooms). May not be suitable for young children as there are many charming but delicate ornaments and knick-knacks on display.

Review 60:Close to Ely and all amenities, lots of free parking, comfortable room with every comfort, very attentive and helpful owner, quiet and restful, lovely garden, delicious home-cooked breakfast.

Review 61:Only takes cash or cheque and free wifi not working. Wouldn't take much to rectify I guess.

Review 62:Perfectly placed for a visit to Ely. Lovely outlook from room onto woods. Mrs Bailey very welcoming and room very pretty and clean but rather small. Excellent breakfast.

Review 63:A wonderful warm welcome from Mrs Bailey, comfortable, beautiful room with every comfort. One of the cleanest places I have ever stayed. Delicious home cooked breakfast. Plenty of parking space. Gorgeous garden. Even though Baileys is on a main road, the rooms are at the back of the building and I heard no noise and slept like a log. I was attending a folk festival which meant an early start and coming back late at night and Mrs Bailey did everything possible to accommodate my needs. I stayed two nights and wish I could have stayed longer - I was really sorry to leave.

Review 64:Home from home, clean, friendly, warm and most welcoming. Dawn was most certainly hands on. Breakfast was fab freshly prepared and well presented. I love the view into the garden from our room, bunnies, birds etc.would def stay again.

Review 65:Very welcoming hostess - helpful re local facilities and parking etc. House immaculate and spotlessly clean. Wide choice available at breakfast. Although on main road no traffic noise could be heard overnight.

Review 66:Our hostess was delightful, very helpful with local knowledge & information, and the property itself very comfortable & homely giving a feeling of a visit to friends. Delicious breakfast, beautifully presented. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Review 67:Loved everything no faults or dislikes at all great place to stay

Review 68:My mum and me loved all of it fantastic food lovely lady who runs it no faults at all highly recommend other people to stay there can't beat it

Review 69:The shower room was clean but very small and had a strange smell. The bedroom was small for two people. If I were to stay there again I would book the twin room which looked much larger.

Review 70:The owner was lovely. The breakfast was delicious and it was nice to sit round a table with the other guests.

Review 71:Our greeting by Dawn, our hostess, was very welcoming. Having our own entrance was very convenient.

Review 81:The bathroom was not en suite.

Review 82:Convenient location with parking for visiting Cambridge, warm welcome and homely atmosphere. Nice breakfast.

Review 83:The amount of clutter and double beds not twin also lots of ornaments and frilly bits and bows everywhere
