Reviews for Best Western Stade Court Hotel
Review 1:Rooms were way too hot to sleep in any comfort. No means of controlling it satisfactorily
Review 2:Very pleasant on the whole, helpful staff, good location and good food for dinner and breakfast
Review 3:The mirror and the toiletry shelf was on a different wall to the sink itself, which was a bit silly. The fabric curtains in the bathroom were covered in splashes.
Review 4:The hotel offers a great trip into the 70's. The interior reminded us that era - but then again, it was clean and comfortable, so this is not necessarily a problem.
Review 5:My dinner steak smelled but the chef said that was what it smelled like. I still think it smelled not good, but ate it and never became ill. I would not repeat that experience. The loo washed the paper which would not go away!! despite numerous flushes.
Review 6:The view was lovely, pity the weather was not good to stroll around. The warm room bordered on too hot and the window did not open much. Breakfast was hearty and good.
Review 7:Couldn't keep windows open as the noise of the wind whistling through between the 2 parts of the building was horrendous. Not the hotel's fault but I do like to sleep with fresh air coming in. Also, cracked tiles on the floor in the bathroom.
Review 8:Very comfortable bed and pillows....and very pleasant staff.
Review 9:I think that breakfast should be included in the set price as it is in most hotels worldwide.
Review 10:Very amenable and helpful staff. Clean and well maintained premises.
Review 11:Paper-thin walls between me and crude, foul mouthed neighbours. No working lock on door. Took a lot of effort and time to get ignorant man on reception to recognise this was a problem.
Review 12:Location is great as was the price. Sheets and towels clean.
Review 13:We were moved from the hythe hotel to the Folkestone hotel without being given a choice due to a pipe leak. When told that we couldn't do this as the wedding we were attending was in hythe, they virtually told us that we had no choice and we wouldn't be able to cancel or receive a refund. After my husband phoned and asked them to pay for our taxi to and from wedding they miraculously found us a room.
Review 14:Really enjoyed the hotel, decor dated but cosy bar staff excellent.
Review 15:I've stopped here a few times now and overall all of my visits here have been pleasant and nice. The room was clean, had a room with a sea view. Very good indeed.
Review 16:Nothing
Review 17:Warm comfortable room, efficient and friendly welcome 10 mins after we registered in, phone call from reception to check all was well. On site parking
Review 18:Not really a bad experience but the hotel does need modernising and money spent on it. Breakfast was good but no choice of egg other than scrambled and cold croissants do not make a continental breakfast: Cold meats? Cheeses? Poor wi fi connection.
Review 19:Being on the sea front. Attentive and friendly staff Warm Easy parking
Review 20:The lift is tiny. We couldn't get our pushchair in so we had to carry it up the stairs - we were on the second floor!
Review 21:We only stayed 1 night as we were at a function nearby. The room was a good size and we easily fit our travel cot. We didn't eat there so unable to comment. Very good value for money. Ideal for an overnight stay.
Review 22:The hotel lift is quite small and tight . . . 2 persons and luggage is about it.
Review 23:Hotel is quite clean and tidy although the decor is needing a bit of TLC here and there; its location on the sea-front is great also, being only 5 minutes brisk walk from Hythe Town Centre. Parking on the hotel property is a bit limited (and tight if you've got a big car) but there is a lot of on-street (and free) parking nearby. Plenty of pubs and eateries within 5 - 10 minutes walk. Ideal stopover for the ferry or channel tunnel.
Review 24:hotel for is a bit dated but I suppose that's all part of the English sea side experience.
Review 25:Great peaceful seafront location. Hythe is a beautiful village. Very good WiFi and breakfast with sea view.
Review 26:Very limited parking. Had to park in the road. Only scranbled eggs offered for breakfast; would have liked the choice of fried.
Review 27:Clean & comfortable. Friendly staff. Good breakfast.
Review 28:Cold food in the restaurant. Cold water in the room. No tariff of drinks on public display.
Review 29:The staff member who showed an excellent rapport with the clientele ~Adam - was excellent. The fresh fruit available in the foyer was an excellent idea
Review 30:We had to leave before breakfast to get to the channel tunnel. We were not offered a packed breakfast to take. We noticed there were some for other guest. We payed for B&B but only got the Bed.
Review 31:We liked the view from our window
Review 32:(Room 408) Temperature of shower too hot. Impossible to adjust correct even though a thermostatic tap is installed (perhaps defective?). Lots of light coming from the corridor through the gap under the door, so difficult to get a darkened room at night.
Review 33:Location. Friendly staff. Room as such good. Excellent full English breakfast.
Review 34:Allowed into our room early as we had a wedding to go to and had had a long drive. We arrived half an hour before we advised and were allowed in which helped thanks
Review 35:booked extra bed for extra charge. had to ask for extra towels and extra tea mug. breakfast plentiful but low quality. typical money grabbing down market gb hotel
Review 36:leaving
Review 37:My husband and I have just returned home from an overnight stay at the Best Western Stade hotel in Hythe and I am absolutely fuming, when we arrived we were informed we did not have a double we had a twin which we said was ok, but then told the beds were on different levels. When we got up to the room I felt sick it was more like a cupboard than a room, the carpet was loose on the stairs which is a health and safety issue and the room was just not fit for purpose. I wanted to leave straight away but my husband being more forgiving talked me into staying. We went for a long walk so I did not have to stay in this room and returned later. At about 2300 decided to go to sleep but were kept up all night by people banging on doors and shouting, after a night of no sleep at 0815 went down to have breakfast which we assumed was included in the price and in all fairness the breakfast was good. when we went to hand our key in we were informed we had to pay £17.00 which if we had known would rather gone and found a café and paid half the price. I will never stay or recommend your chain of hotels to anyone and would make sure nobody makes the same mistake we did tell them to book either a B & B or another hotel. To be honest sleeping in a field would be better.
Review 38:Having booked full breakfasts we had to leave for Eurotunnel before normal breakfast service so asked for packed breakfast but this was very limited & uninspiring and wouldn't recommend it.
Review 39:Great location on seafront and very friendly and helpful staff. Very convenient for Eurotunnel. We had a great evening meal at the seafood restaurant opposite, overlooking the sea.
Review 40:Looks like refurbishment is underway but it has a long way to go. The room developed a very strong smell overnight - suspect chemical carpet cleaner - and the wallpaper was hanging off the wall in places due to damp.
Review 41:in Hythe and close to the tunnel.
Review 42:Decor. "Best Western - hotels with personality" For a 1930's building, it did not have any personality. A hotel facing the sea shore with no clues of its position in the decor and completely lacking atmosphere. The dining room wallpaper seemed a job done by an amateur. The dining room waitresses need training in table manners and personal appearance.
Review 43:Room clean to a high standard and bed very comfortable. Breakfast was great, but bacon a bit overcooked!
Review 44:the room I had was very hot, there was a fan supplied but it was still hot. The only way to get any sleep was to have the window and curtain wide open and the fan positioned on the open window to blow some cool air into the room.
Review 45:I liked the location, the bar, the breakfast and the cleanliness.
Review 46:Limited parking Hythe itself was very dead at night
Review 47:We were at the War and Peace Revival show 3 miles away so it was so easy to get to Clean, efficient and friendly
Review 48:Very outdated inside, every floorboard creaked. The room ceilings leaked in at least 3 rooms when it rained hard. Room windows would not close.Slat in pop up bed broken. It gave the impression of covering over problems rather than fixing them properly.
Review 49:Location spot on. Staffs friendliness excellent. Breakfast fantastic.
Review 50:WiFi a bit intermittent but then I dont use it much! No airconditioning in front rooms, so very warm.
Review 51:Brilliant beach front location. Dining room with panoramic views Comfy beds Pleasant staff Easy parking Excellent food, well cooked.
Review 52:There was a coach party of noisy children staying at the hotel. It would have been better for other residents if they were all accommodated together on one floor. However the hotel staff did speak to the teachers re the noise and this was limited to just before midnight.
Review 53:The excellent customer service. The staff were friendly and were prepared to go out of their way to help. The staff were thoughtful about the needs of all residents and happy to address concerns. Excellent breakfast
Review 54:We chose this hotel specifically because it accepts pets - we were travelling with two dogs. The Booking.com site advised that 'charges may apply'. In fact, the hotel charges £15 per dog which made added £30 to a £52 accommodation charge. Had we known in advance that the charges were so high, we would not book but this was a so-called cheap deal that couldn't be cancelled.
Review 55:We needed somewhere to stay overnight close to the Channel Tunnel and the location is very convenient for this.
Review 56:Had to move room at 11 pm due to noise from below from refrigerators in storage facility.
Review 57:Location - lovely old town, canal and gardens to walk round. Room overlooking beach. Helpful, friendly staff.
Review 58:Booking.com didn't transfer my booking correctly to the hotel and therefore the rooms were set up wrong.
Review 59:The standard of customer service to solve the problem i didnt like
Review 60:The hotel itself is a little tired looking in some paces and could do with a little updating. On the whole very good though!
Review 61:The service of the staff, was excellent, their manner polite and attentive. It was fantastic value for money, it is obvious the management are keen to satisfy.
Review 62:shower in room 408 has a bad water flow I did complain and I think they attempted to improve it but made no difference
Review 63:We like the location of the hotel and the staff are very pleasantpleas
Review 64:Only my opinion, have dinner in town, only because of lack of atmosphere, not the food.
Review 65:Location very good, friendly staff, great breakfast... Definitely VFM compared to other hotels that are local!
Review 66:20 minutes from euro tunnel. Opposite the beach for evening/morning stroll. Bar for evening drink. Room was clean and the bed comfortable. A decent hotel at a reasonable price.
Review 67:£20 charge was a bit expensive for an hours early check in. slightly odd fashioned decor.
Review 68:The staff were extremely helpful, the room was spotless and a good size with all amenities even down to a small hairdryer. The view was lovely. Had a cracking night sleep.
Review 69:The access to the room was a bit challenging , narrow passageways steep stairs and a lift that was only just big enough to accommodate one person and one suitcase. The mattress on both beds were hard lumpy and convex we complained and were given a different room the beds there were better than the previous room.
Review 70:Convenient location, I liked being on the sea front although we didn't have a sea view. Breakfast was pleasant enough.,
Review 71:The room was not to standard (as per detils on web site). It was rubbish, no parking etc, I could go on but I will talk to Best Wester as I am looking for a refund
Review 72:Wifi
Review 73:The building is showing its age a bit (the picture is a bit flattering) and the room I had was quite noisy (other guests and plumbing). Pillows were a bit flat as well.
Review 74:Staying in single bedroom comprising two levels was an experience but I did get a view from both sides of the hotel. Facilities are clean and the breakfast was excellent.
Review 75:Everywhere needed some remodernisation. All looks shabby. Even the dead flowers in reception. Bed leg was broken. Wardrobe was missing a handle. Stair carpet in places dangerous. Noisy air conditioning, but at least it was off at night
Review 76:Location was good.
Review 77:Spoken to rude at the reception. Was told breakfast wasn't included at first had to argue my case with endless emails saying it was. Asked for double bed instead had to singles pushed together.
Review 78:Veiw Room was lovely
Review 79:There is a car park but not too big and it was full so had to park in the road. Maybe high season will be difficult.....
Review 80:Nothing not to like. Yes, it is a little dated but comfortable, clean, good wifi, great breakfast and convenient to get to Eurotunnel. Price was also acceptable so overall good value.
Review 81:Hotel is getting very tired and in need of update. generally needs complete revamp
Review 82:The Hotel is OK but Location is good. Breakfast was OK and dinner was good and well cooked but service could do with sharpening up
Review 83:Only complaint was the food at breakfast time wasn't very hot. I suppose this was due to it being a help yourself breakfast, probably the chef cooked too much at once. The food was good apart from that.
Review 84:A very friendly hotel, in need of a little refurbishment but I found it very clean and comfortable.
Review 85:Didn't like how thin the walls were as at 11pm a family next door came in there room and it sounded as though they were in the same room
Review 86:Was comfortable had 2 floors so my son loved it and was very clean
Review 87:Booked Two adults plus Child, Asked for lower floor if possible asdisabled arrived ?no bed for child, moved to family room which was nogood as bathroom was up a very steep narrow stair case unsuitable fordisabled ,back to original room with folding bed ,which was broken, sogranddaughter ended up sleeping on the floor, their excuse was that younever told the that we needed bed for child.
Review 88:Generally tired inside and out. There was a smell of food in the corridor and our room, from the restaurant two floors below when we arrived. Windows could do with more regular cleaning (but it is on the sea front).
Review 89:Sea front location
Review 90:Bathroom was rather small and one had to fill the bath from the shower head. Breakfast was so-so Apart from the room one got the impression that the hotel has seen better days.
Review 91:Bed was comfortable, room clean and quiet. staff were nice. Price was very reasonable
Review 92:Although our stay was very good, if we jd known before hand that breakfast didn't start ubtil 8 am and the restaurant would be closed by the time we arrived at 9 pm. We would have sought alternate accommodation. We were booked on an 8.30 channel crossing so could not change our plans. We were given a travel breakfast, which while a nice gesture, was a poor substitute.
Review 93:Dinner was reasonably priced but nothing to write home about.
Review 94:Great location. A bit dated but good value for a stopover. Very friendly staff. Very good breakfast
Review 95:Walls were very thin and if being noisy it would affect other guests. Equally so if you liked peace and quiet it may be a bit to noisy for you.
Review 96:Good value for money and great sea front location in Hythe. Very clean and small but well presented rooms with very comfortable beds and good linen.
Review 97:cold restaurant and cold in the bar...not comfortable at all, in fact it made the visit to the bar and dinner unpleasant. Sauce with the duck was described as cherry and in fact the sauce was mixed berries and was very tart and disappointing
Review 98:Staff, friendly and helpful, clean room
Review 99:Because of property age, the room walls are 'thin' therefore as with anywhere it depends on how considerate your neighbours, above, below, both sides behave.
Review 100:The food is fabulous, breakfast and dinner. Prices are very good including drinks. All staff, kind, considerate, thoughtful, helpful and willing. Rooms immaculate, despite the age related improvements that I'm certain can and will only be done, when the money becomes available. Without visitors, renovations cannot be undertaken.
Review 101:Could have done with being decorated.
Review 102:Very friendly staff, I will definitely book to stay again. Excellent food in the Hotel resterant. Very clean rooms, Thank you
Review 103:Not sure when the hotel was last updated but it really does need it soon. The handles were falling off the drawers and the blinds, nets and curtains even windows need replacing.
Review 104:The position of the hotel is ideal for Hythe and if you are lucky to have a sea view. Cannot fault the cost and this is value for money.
Review 105:The only thing I disagree with is allowing dogs to stay here - a member of our party is allergic to dog hair so could be a problem.
Review 106:Polite staff - amazing breakfast - location.
Review 107:the hallways were a bit tired and the windows needed cleaned.
Review 108:rooms were clean and freshly decorated. the bed was comfortable and the linens were good. Reception was very good and followed up to ensure we were happy with the room. A nice touch. Breakfast was as expected for the price and hotel grade.
Review 109:First room we were given made lou's noises whenever the toilet was flushed but we were given a new room straight away. Very limited car parking spaces
Review 110:Staff were quick to resolve any issues and the price was more than reasonable
Review 111:just the Hotel is a bit 80's but not a problem.
Review 112:The Rooms are very very clean but some what dated. The Breakfast was to died for, Best Breakfast by a mile.
Review 113:The room was freezing the extra heater provided smelt of burning so was unable to keep it switched on for long periods. The bathroom radiator was broken so the room was icey cold. The staff manning the breakfast was scruffy
Review 114:The room was very clean
Review 115:Beds were poor.hotel was clean but run down.
Review 116:Price was good and location was fantastic,on sea front close to euro tunnel.room was on 2 levels.great for teenage son
Review 117:Freezing room waited over an hour for an electric heater, I mentioned this to the manager on checkout he disappeared for a couple of minutes the came back to me and said he had checked the CCTV and we only had to wait 59 minutes and that this was an acceptable time to wait
Review 118:Good location
Review 119:Nothing to dislike here.
Review 120:Good location beside the beach which is good for walking at any time of year. Friendly staff. Good views from restaurant. Free parking. Free wifi.
Review 121:Although the room was stated as "sea view", it was a side room which overlooked a seafood restaurant and public toilets. The sea was visible with a sideways squint through the window, bit disappointing.
Review 122:The Christmas Day Dinner and atmosphere was great.
Review 123:Some decor a little tired, but it does seem like it's being kept on top of
Review 124:Lovely hotel. Stayed here the night after attending a wedding. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was nice and cosy. Breakfast was delicious. Would definitely stay here again if I was down this way again
Review 125:very poor breakfast ordered scrambled and toast and smoked salmond for 2 no salmon toast poor tea not good reported to receptionist not usuial standard for great wesstern
Review 126:The room was on the small size and only had one armchair for two people. Also, in this day and age, surely it is not beyond the wit of man to have the full spectrum of Freeview on the TV. The bar food that we tried was dire. The central heating did not seem to be working, however, an electric heater had been provided.
Review 127:It is good value for the money but this hotel badly needs a facelift. The room and bathroom were clean and tidy and there was plenty of hot water.
Review 128:The split level room with a view over the town and sea. The friendlness of the staff and the excellent location of the hotel by the sea with an easy walk into the main part of the town.
Review 129:we have stayed in this hotel many times in many different rooms both as a couple and singly. some of the rooms at the back of the hotel can be a bit stale smelling, but at the same time we have generally been paying a very cheap rate for these rooms. and once you open the window its fine...
Review 130:the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, the quirkiness and charm of the somewhat faded old style decor and layout, and the amazing location. The rooms at the front have fantastic sea views.
Review 131:Older property with several doors and corridors to negotiate.
Review 132:Good facilities, friendly helpful staff, excellent breakfast and prime location overlooking beach.
Review 133:Nothing!!
Review 134:The hotel was in a good location. Weather was awful so couldn't go out,(gale force winds!) but were made v welcome in the bar followed by a delicious meal. The best steaks we have eaten in a v long time. Our waitress was both friendly & efficient
Review 135:Staff were not very helpfull at breakfast had to keep asking for Things.
Review 136:Will definately liked the location. The room was very roomy but in need of modernising. Breakfast not tne best we nave evrr jad.
Review 137:Once you get into the corridors and rooms there was a really musty, damp smell, which was really off putting the decor looks like it hasn't been updated since 1950.
Review 138:Staff seemed helpful. Good location.
Review 139:Given a double room instead of twin on arrival but this was rectified. Breakfast was chaotic as there was a coach party and not enough staff. One older member of staff in dining room was useless and left all the work to two youngsters. Tables not attractively laid. Rooms not very well serviced, again didn't seem to be enough staff.
Review 140:Afternoon tea very nice and attractively served but only one scone when menu said 'scones'. Staff pleasant and helpful.
Review 141:The lift, it will only hold two people and very tiny. The car park is very small and only has room for 6 cars, although there is room to park in the street.
Review 142:This hotel is located opposite the beach and has lovely view of the sea. We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the room. Everything was clean and tidy. Breakfast was plenty and varied.
