Reviews for The Glasshouse

Review 1:Gluten Free request was not taken into consideration. Although both morning breakfast only had cereal choices the bread situation was disappointing. On day one hotel ran out of gluten free bread and on day two hotel did not have any gluten free bread available at all? Surely you would have realised after the first morning and I had requested on my booking? It is difficult enough for people with life limiting dietary issues without having it made more awkward on holidays especially when on checking in we were assured the hotel had our request sorted. Next time we will do like we always do and take our own as a backup!

Review 2:The central location of the hotel and the friendly staff. The lovely spacious room and the quiet night sleep

Review 3:Excellent hotel in the town itself close to all shops and restaurants and bars food in hotel was great rooms was great and spacious would highly reccommend this hotel

Review 4:Decor will not be to everyone's taste. Lobby is small - may be an issue for some people. Bar is slightly tired (but is busy with a good atmosphere).

Review 5:Striking design. Excellent town centre location, close to shops, restaurants and bars. Underground car park very handy, and reasonably priced. Breakfast is good.

Review 6:Dining room lights very dusty and the floor had dirt in it even though it was early into restaurant service.

Review 7:Room was very comfortable and staff were excellent.

Review 8:All was good.

Review 9:We had the most fabulous room overlooking the bridge and river, which was in full flow. It was a great spot. Very comfy night's sleep with great blackout curtains. Lovely stay.

Review 10:The carpet on the corridor to the room would make you sea sick if you look at it when walking, not the colour, just the design.

Review 11:Staff very friendly excellent car park. nice breakfast.

Review 12:No real welcome at reception, a little cold to say the least. It was the same again at breakfast, we were just waved to a seat rather than being brought to a table which others were so it was inconsistent

Review 13:We had a great room with loads of space overlooking the river. Loved the river view bar and the bar staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Review 14:Only a very minor thing but the elevators were quite slow to arrive whenever we needed one.

Review 15:The hotel is a beautiful hotel very centrally located and the staff are wonderful and very friendly. We were waited on by a lovely gentleman who helped educate us on our wine choice and I believe his wife was due to give birth, so please do pass along our best wishes.

Review 16:Nothing - it was all good!

Review 17:Beautiful dinner & breakfast, friendly & helpful staff, room was really lovely, bed very comfortable etc. and we were overlooking the river. The weather was terrible so we were confined to the hotel but it was a lovely.

Review 18:I didn't think that the toaster was in a good position at the breakfast counter as it slowed the queue up for people getting food.

Review 19:The location beside the river is a really nice setting. It was close to the shops and the cinema and the food was delicious.the breakfast was very good.We really enjoyed our stay but one night is not enough, we will stay longer next time.

Review 20:Nothing!

Review 21:Good value for money and good location and very handy carpark located underneath hotel. Food in bar was cheap and we received our food very quickly.

Review 22:On the welcome booklet it's and breakfast until 10:30am arrived at 10:05 and was told breakfast ended at 10- but was allowed in but wasn't much left! And the fact that all rooms are non smoking

Review 23:Loved the view from the room asked for a room with a good view and got it! Lovely and quiet and a gorgeous room!

Review 24:I loved the style of the hotel, rooms are comfy, funky, clean & spacious. Breakfast & dinner was excellent too. Location is brilliant looking out onto river & in the centre of town. All for great value too! Will definitely stay therr again.. Thankyou ☺

Review 25:We were in Sligo to visit friends but unfortunately my husband had to work. The room facilities and wifi were spacious, comfortable, excellent! Sligo is ideal for shopping, with branded shops and boutiques close at hand. Perfect for those last minute Christmas gifts. And the staff were great in helping to direct me to specific stores, a great time saver when you've a long list!!. Thank you all and a very Happy Christmas to you all.

Review 26:room spacious & clean great views of river Garavogue queen size bed very comfortable food was so delicious and staff were very attentive great visit very happy :)

Review 27:I didn't like the fact that I had to pay for car parking when a resident. Some hotels refund this if you stay or have a meal. Residents bar closed when I returned but looked open with all the taps lit up etc. If closed this should be darkened down. Asked to go in by a different door when we returned. A very small matter relating to the bed duvet, it was placed too far down on the bed.

Review 28:I liked the location, the general ambience. I loved the sound or the jazz band but had no time to wait to hear them. Rooms excellent. Breakfast really good with a very pleasant staff on duty.

Review 29:There was nothing that I didn't like

Review 30:Location was excellent all staff were friendly and helpful food was very good and the whole hotel was extremely clean

Review 31:Having to leave it !

Review 32:Great value for money , in the middle of town , great bar , good food well priced very friendly atmosphere and parking as long as you want for 3 euro ! Rooms really comfortable

Review 33:See above

Review 34:The bedroom was beautiful, different design. If was so refreshing to walk into a room that wasn't just another hotel room. The vibrant hues actually created a restfullness. While the location is great, the ground floor is restricted in size so the only seating area is in the bar area, fine for a drink but if looking for a quiet place it has not got it. Even to have a subtle partition at far end of bar might provide a quiet corner.

Review 35:Great location to the bars and restaurants in Sligo and good parking with underground car park. Staff friendly and nice atmosphere in Bar, finally great breakfast :-)

Review 36:The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. There were great amenities in the rooms in terms of air con and heating. As well as this the view from the room was spectacular. We also went down to the bar for dinner and it was lovely.

Review 37:Lobby is small and Que forms during peak times of check in and check out One breakfast waitress was unfriendly

Review 38:The location of the hotel is excellent

Review 39:i think charging an extra 3 euro for parking the day of checkout is a complete joke when you are leaving before 12 o clock. its not about the money more about just being downright stingy.

Review 40:Everything is clean and nice.

Review 41:I have stayed in the glasshouse previously and always enjoyed our stay but as as it was my friends birthday we got a beautiful room overlooking the river and town.

Review 42:Can't reserve a car park spot. When we arrived Saturday afternoon the car park was full and we had to find on street parking which was pay and display. When we later moved the car into underground car park we again had to pay for parking. Hotel does not validate tickets for guests which is ridiculous.

Review 43:We ordered room service and an item was missing. No attempt was made to refund us. Wouldn't order room service again. Food was cold and not very nice. When we checked out we weren't even asked did we enjoy our stay just handed code for car park. Girl didn't make eye contact hardly.

Review 44:We loved the room and the breakfast. Room very comfortable

Review 45:It's very noisy, it felt like everyone was waling through our room. It's marketed as being a bit funky, but it needs to do more than hang a few cool pictures. The lifts seemed to take for ever. The restaurant has a canteen feel about it.

Review 46:Nice staff, the waitress at breakfast couldn't have been more helpful. Great location, you could fall out of bed and land on the main street in Sligo!

Review 47:Can'take think of anything!

Review 48:Location centre of town beside roaring river. Convenient car parking good value at 3 euro overnight. Liked progressive decor especially the carpet "waves" in corridors. Across street from Years Centre.

Review 49:I thought the bathroom was a bit small for a delux room and the water flow was very slow, took ages to run a bath and the sink wasn't letting away the water fast enough.

Review 50:Me and my boyfriend had a nice relaxing few days away. As I was heavily pregnant it was great to just chill out. Breakfast was lovely both mornings. Food was excellent in the bar and staff were all so friendly. We had a delux room with a balcony out looking the river.

Review 51:Poor lighting in the room.It would have been really great to have full lentht mirror or vanity unit & proper lighting to put on make-up\blow dry hair properly.

Review 52:I liked the comfort of the room as it was spacious, the bed was really comfortable and we had a nice view of the Garavogue river. I also thought the breakfast was excellent in that the food was freshly made and plentiful.

Review 53:Loved the comfortable bed it was fantastic as both my husband and I both suffer badly with our backs. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Location was excellent

Review 54:Bad smell in room. Like blocked drains with stagnant water. Mentioned that when checking out but no discount offered. Disappointed.

Review 55:Great location and very enjoyable breakfast.

Review 56:carpet design makes one dizzy, but this was a very minor glitch!

Review 57:The location, ease of parking, and restuarant facilities make this Sligo's best hotel

Review 58:We booked a standard double and were upgraded to a King balcony room. I just wish we could have stayed longer. Everything was very cool and funky. The staff were all very kind, especially the young NUIG science grad at reception. Very clean, vey comfortable, brilliant luxury in Sligo town. Will be back!

Review 59:I have been to the Glasshouse many times. Each time I have been there it has been excellent and it is why I recommend it to friends and family and also why I keep returning. It feels like a home to me. As soon as we arrived we were upgraded to a twin room with balcony and view over the river. Absolutely second to none as far as service is concerned! Faultless, professional yet very warm, friendly and also a real concern to make the customer happy. Excellent!

Review 60:beds like sleeping on a board.. wakened twice during night with alarm going off in our room.... rowdy drunks all night long...

Review 61:staff and location really good....

Review 62:1. The staff treated us poorly in the bar and at breakfast time. In the bar the main bar man disappeared instead of taking my order and a man from the restaurant took it instead. At breakfast time we were told to find our seats whereas every other couple that came in was shown to there seats by the man greeting everyone. It's either because we're young or because I was wearing converse and jeans which the Hotel frowns upon. 2. The shower has no water pressure and there is no mat to get a grip on the bath when you stand in it to shower. 3. The layout of the room was a bit of a mess. The dressing table was beside the bed and there was no room for a chair; not to mention the fact that you couldn't actually use the mirror because its too deep in the unit and there was no light. 4. The Breakfast was awful 5. The room and breakfast just weren't worth 100 a night 6. €3 per day for parking is way too much. They wouldn't let us take our car out for the day on our second day.

Review 63:The bar was nice; cocktails were delicious

Review 64:Had breakfast in our room. No milk on the tray, had to ring down and poached eggs were like rocks

Review 65:Great river view. Night staff super helpful in organising sandwiches for us at a late hour

Review 66:Twin beds in room on arrival - problem rectified quickly.

Review 67:Housekeeping staff polite and attentive. Outstanding housekeeping of room and a complimentary bottle of prosecco which was much enjoyed it being our 25 anniversary.

Review 68:Service was slow in the bar and the restaurant. Returned a flat bottle of Smirnoff ice, no replacement offered nor was it taken from our bill. Did not feel like a 4 star hotel.

Review 69:Location was excellent. Food was nice.

Review 70:Smell of cooked fish on entering the building. Needs better ventilation.

Review 71:Location, friendliness of staff, bright decor, modern archecture, parking. Meal deal River view room. Have booked for February 2016

Review 72:No swimming pool or spa. Ask for a room away from the lift as it can be quite noisy with revellers at weekends

Review 73:Location was very central. Staff were very friendly and the self-service breakfast catered for everybody. Bar food was very nice and offer with drink was very reasonable. Live jazz music on every Friday was a nice bonus surprise

Review 74:booking in and checking out poor ,breakfast was below standard for a 4* and the waiting staff at breakfast were not helpful and pleasant, the hotel of smiles ,i think not .

Review 75:central hotel with car park nearby.

Review 76:Was put in room with smell of ciggerette smoke. Rang reception and waited for a reply for 20 mins. Had to go down. Receptionist Offered to refresh the room. I was about to leave and cancel booking just before I was offered a new room which is what I requested from start. Should have been offered a new room immediately when I asked for one with legitimate reason.

Review 77:Location

Review 78:This hotel is so very central, it's clean and decorated to a high standard, reception, resturaunt and bar staff were very friendly and helpful. We had dinner in the resturaunt and it was delicious and not too pricy!

Review 79:Could hear lift at night, so didnt have good nights sleep. Absolutely hate the fan type heating, making noise all night if on. Restaurant could do with cleaning red lights above the tables, also menu was very limited.

Review 80:Room was specious and comfortable bed. Friendly staff all around.

Review 81:The Glasshouse presents itself as a 4 star, but sadly it isn't. This is a tired hotel that has carpet that makes you dizzy walking the hallways, beds, that I understand have just been replaced, but the mattress moves so much all night that sleep is difficult to come by, and simply put, this hotel is not correctly rated. It, in my opinion is more like a 2 1/2 or 3 start.

Review 82:I like the staff at the Glasshouse.

Review 83:Nothing.

Review 84:Their amenities were amazing and the rooms were large and clean. They had a kettle for tea and coffee, with a whole tray to prepare what you needed in the morning. They also had extremely comfortable beds, and the views from the 4th floor on up were amazing.

Review 85:Consistently great are our sixth stay! Staff members like Trish make all the difference. Wonderful breakfast and good reasonably priced food and drinks. A perfect place to stay in Sligo town.

Review 86:Excellent location. Easy to find right in the heart of the town. All staff at the hotel were very attentive, without being overbearing. Food in the bar was excellent. Appreciated that the parking was free - Many other city centre hotels will charge you for parking

Review 87:This hotel may be funky but it is non functional. Why have a dummy wardrobe in room, with light over, when there was no light over the enclosed tea making area and not enough storage. Heating (air con) was incredibly noisy so could only have it on for short periods. It seems the radiators no longer work. Breakfast service bizarre and badly set out. Toast had to go through the toaster 4 times before it was vaguely toasted which created a back log of people trying to access the hot food. Toaster should be replaced and set away from hot buffet. Similarly juices. It was a mad crush and did not need to be.

Review 88:Nice view overlooking river

Review 89:carpets in corridors make you feel like you are at sea, not good on morning after....

Review 90:All excellent except for the deserts (v poor). Beds were exceptional. Not very important but our bathroom was a disabled one which was a little disappointing as no bath and fittings, shower rails etc looked very cheap.

Review 91:Excellent location in city centre. Rooms a good size and very clean. Beds are very comfortable. Good variety of food served in restaurant and very reasonably priced.

Review 92:Only criticism would be that the bar needs a facelift, the soft furnishings, seating, etc needs to be replaced ... it all looks a little too worn.

Review 93:Great location, extremely helpful and friendly staff. Room was very comfortable and user friendly.

Review 94:Extremely comfortable bed and wonderful bathroom/bath/shower. Loved this hotel! Art work is very interesting although the hallway carpet is sure to make you dizzy. Staff very pleasant. Excellent wifi. Note: we did not get breakfast at the hotel - - strongly recommend the French bakery a block or two away.

Review 95:Noisy staff early in the morning. Our room was on the first floor, which also house conference rooms. We were woken before 8.30am by staff who appeared to be moving furniture in one of the conference rooms. The disruption lasted a long time.

Review 96:Location - right in town centre

Review 97:The only little thing is that we did not get our room cleaned and tidied after we left in the morning. It might have been only a mistake, and it wasn't that big deal anyway.

Review 98:We got an upgrade because of being a birthday celebration trip. The hotel is nice, comfortable, and because we got a great last minute deal, it was really value for money. We could set the temperature in our room, which is an additional bonus on cold days. Our room was amazingly large and specious.

Review 99:A friendly professional greeting and the news that we'd been upgraded! The room's location overlooking the river was excellent and it spaciousness very well received.

Review 100:The shower in the bath needed a new head and the rubber on the glass door was missing, causing water over the toilet. Not the end of the world, but kids would have the place under water.

Review 101:Location and parking, view over the river

Review 102:Lifts very slow and we decided to get breakfast in our room one morning and we left the sheet on our door with our choices but it was never collected but I have to say I went downstairs and told reception who sorted it out very quickly

Review 103:Our room was lovely nice balcony to go out and stand on

Review 104:Comfortable, big beautiful room, nice views, lovely Resturant, cheap car parking on site, great breakfast with lots of choice, very well priced & very quiet. Would stay there again.

Review 105:Not a complaint but I taught you could with another dish with fried eggs in it. As there was quite a delay and Que waiting

Review 106:I liked the suction of the hotel to the town

Review 107:Restaurant areas needed to be cleaned more often, lots of food on floor and carpet over a few days.

Review 108:Location of hotel. Breakfast food was good but not so kean on other main meals, limited choice.

Review 109:Some of the rooms appear to have the view from the window obscured by the wacky architecture e.g. mine 601 had a square block in one corner and half of the other part of the window obscured by structure. The brochure pictures don't quite show you this

Review 110:Its funky colours and central location

Review 111:The hotel describes the rooms as having floor to ceiling windows in each room, but we had one which had a solid deep barrier nearly 5 feet high out on the balcony and it was impossible to see the view below.

Review 112:It was a lovely spacious modern hotel with a pleasant restaurant and bar. The room would have been perfect if not for the barrier outside.

Review 113:Absolutely fabulous! We got a free upgrade to a deluxe suite on the 6th floor and wow, what a room!! Lots of attention to detail in evidence right throughout this hotel. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent and extremely reasonably priced. If we ever find ourselves back in Sligo, we will most certainly return to this hotel.

Review 114:Unfortunately the heat in our room was almost unbearable, air con didn't work so we were given a fan to blow the hot air around the room. Extremely uncomfortable and despite reporting the issue, it wasn't resolved for our second night, none of the staff followed up on the complaint either.

Review 115:Great location, friendly staff, nice food and good value for money.

Review 116:Stayed in 2 rooms. A standard double and a Junior Suite. The suite was lovely, clean and spacious. The standard had a very bad mattress. Too soft and I could feel every spring in it. There was a loose floor tile in the bathroom and the shower was unsealed so the floor was soaked after every shower.

Review 117:Great location.

Review 118:I don't use lifts so the stairs on the way up could do with a lick of paint from car park to reception area.

Review 119:Everything, price good, room fab overlooking river number 222 - decor lovely and room lovely and bright, bed very comfortable and lovely and quiet at night. Will be back.

Review 120:There is an extra charge for parking and the breakfast wasn't great

Review 121:The staff were so lovely and very helpful. The meal in the restaurant was really good. We hadn't booked but they still managed to get us a table overlooking the river and again the staff were excellent.

Review 122:Nothing all very good!!!

Review 123:Everything!!!!!!! We All ways have a good time at the Glasshouse, so relaxing good food, very Pleasant Staff all ways ready to assist, and sitting by the river so very relaxing Thanks for a great break. Liam Clifford.

Review 124:My room seemed to have been sprayed with some sort of air freshener. As I am allergic to household Perfumes and chemicals it got down on my chest. Some Irish music of people playing in the evening would have enhanced my stay.

Review 125:Waiting staff were brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble and they were very pleasant. The food was amazing, I enjoyed everything I had a d it was beautifully presented.

Review 126:Shape of the sofas in the reception area, the drawer of one cabinet did not close properly

Review 127:Very good location, room and breakfast room design and decoration, complete toiletries set (including hair conditioner and body milk), possibility of using internet through the TV

Review 128:A very tired hotel in desparate need of new carpet, new paint, new colors and a total decor makeover. It may have had a modest claim to trendy 30 years ago, but now it is visually offensive. Dining experience..6 out of 10.

Review 129:Locatin and parkng

Review 130:Breakfast v poor empty trays food cold Bar uncomfortable no music on a Saturday evening Upstairs bar closed Rowdy crowd woke us up at5 am Paid too much for one night. Then had to pay for parking as well Will not ever be back.
