Reviews for The Tudor House Hotel

Review 1:Breakfast was a bit muddled and you can't deviate from the menu, even if you have allergies.

Review 2:We loved the history of the home, the dinner was fantastic and the whole atmosphere of the place draws you in. The bathrooms are so relaxing and modern even though the rooms themselves exude their history.

Review 3:The charming angles and warping wood of the room are remarkable but perhaps the bed could be propped up / levelled as I kept sliding to the end! Also, might've been the hangover but the fried breakfast wasn't one of the best I've had. Still, can't fault the price (included in room rate) or the choice of menu alternatives. I'd still stay again :)

Review 4:Not sure I've ever stayed in a more fascinating hotel. Loved it! The single bed in the small but charming Anne of Cleeves room was all I (and my small dog) needed. Add the included full English breakfast, incredibly friendly, courteous staff day & night, proximity to Warwick Castle, cleanliness, and history at every turn, I cannot recommend it highly enough. I wasn't even charged a surplus for my dog. In short, if you need to visit Warwick, stay here!!!!

Review 5:We booked a more expensive hotel than usual and were really looking forward to our stay in the historical surroundings and a meal in the cosy bar. At 4:20pm on the day of our arrival we received a phone call asking whether we could get there before 6pm because they were short of staff and wanted to close the hotel. We'd driven up from Kent that day to a family party in the area, which we then had to leave early to get to the hotel at the time they'd asked. We checked in and went to our room. When we came downstairs everything was indeed closed and shuttered up with metal grilles. No cosy bar. No home-cooked curry. We couldn't even find the wi-fi code. We didn't really see any staff at all during our two-night stay - just the girl who'd asked us to arrive early and a young lad on the day we checked out - and it all felt very sad and unwelcoming. We didn't receive any of the advertised benefits or facilities and were left feeling a bit depressed that we'd spent so much money on such a poor experience. I'm hoping that this was a blip and they're back to full operation now but I'm afraid, with all the other options in Warwick, I wouldn't risk this again. As a footnote, on our arrival and departure we asked to speak to the manager as we were a bit nonplussed by the difference between the service advertised and that which we'd received. We were told she was 'at the other hotel' but that she would contact us, but we've heard nothing for over 5 days. I wanted to give them a chance to respond before I wrote my review but after 5 days, and the fact my payment to them has gone through, I suspect I'm unlikely to hear back. I understand that businesses sometimes have unforeseen difficulties but it would have been a bit better looked after. Or just spoken to. Just disappointing really.

Review 6:Unfortunatly we didn't enjoy the cooked breakfast. The sausage beans and fried bread did not taste very pleasant. Thankfully there was a good cereal selection and plenty of toast and jam.

Review 7:After reading some previous reviews was a little hesitant but went with an open mind. I was pleasantly suprised, room was immaculate with modern bathroom. Staff very friendly nothing was too much trouble.

Review 8:The room was a bit small and there was no mirror in the room, only in the bathroom. It was also very got.

Review 9:The location was great and the staff lovely. The Hotel overall was fantastic, very rustic and old.

Review 10:Only a minor thing, there was a step down to the bathroom that was difficult to see that we both stumbled down.

Review 11:The building is full of character and the staff were wonderfully friendly and welcoming. The room we had, called Charles 1(I think) was really nice, oozing history and charm. The bathroom was superb, very clean and well appointed (definitely not a 14th century bathroom!)

Review 12:No towels, no hairdryer, until I asked; smelt strongly of glue after handyman visit; room over bar so noise when trying to sleep; difficult road with limited parking, busy at peak times

Review 13:Helpful staff, good breakfast, reasonably central to Warwick

Review 14:The hotel was closed before 3.00pm. The checking in flexibility is something to Consider.

Review 15:It was nice to stay in a location that was built in 1497. That was indeed nice feeling

Review 16:Food and service

Review 17:Room as such is fine what can u expect from a building thats 600 years old. Food is shockingly bad staff have no idea what service is so dont expect any

Review 18:I was the only one in the pub on a Monday evening so felt a little lonely / weird / lacking in atmosphere. Food was microwaved which was a bit disappointing - but it was just me and the one bar-staff so...

Review 19:Lovely old building, with funny touches of decor; suits of armour, horse harnesses. Nice warm, friendly pub downstairs with open fireplace. Cheap food, not gourmet, but quick and fairly priced. Close to Warwick Castle - but means a little walk back uphill into town. Great old-building quirks like hip-height bedroom doors on some rooms and the warren of corridors and stairs.

Review 20:Arrived to find they had written the wrong dates in the diary but I had confirmation for the correct dates. I was put into (a better room!) Matter of opinion! Bathroom -handheld shower, waste water came up the plug hole in the bath disgusting. I didn't have time to report this as I had to get to a meeting. Certainly not worth the money.

Review 21:Staff were friendly. Food average.

Review 22:Somewhat tired fixtures and fittings. Room stiflingly hot on arrival due to central heating (broken?) being replaced with an electric heater that was obviously set very high. Evening staff a bit unwelcoming.

Review 23:Quirky truly historic building to stay in. Great location for walking round Warwick. In the morning, Chef very friendly and helpful.

Review 24:My only quibble is that the coffee could've been better!! Tiny detail!

Review 25:Customer service was fab! Reallocated rooms to better suit us at no extra charge, en suite bathrooms, lovely rooms, great breakfast and service again. Would return. Also an amazing building!

Review 26:Shared Bathroom facilities (but that was known when booking). Noisy groaning pipes when people used showers. Very creaky floorboards when people returned to rooms late at night. Earplugs were needed! Breakfast service only started at 8am - Not ideal as I had to leave before then.

Review 27:Short walk from the town centre and its restaurants. Building has historic character. Staff were friendly and helpful. The chef made me coffee and toast as a quick breakfast because I had to leave before full breakfast service.

Review 28:There were problems with the heating and hot water not working properly, though the staff were very attentive in sorting this out and you can expect problems of this nature in such an old property.

Review 29:Very friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful old building. Spotlessly clean. Right near the castle and centre of town. Lovely food.

Review 30:pillows,bit of mould in shower, small bath towels, but i would definetly stay again,

Review 31:interesting place, friendly staff, nice breakfast with ample choice, and all in all good.

Review 32:On returning after my evening out, the 3 females in the room next door were chatting and laughing until around 1.30am. In the end I had to bang on the wall in the hope they would quieten down. The walls are thin and I could hear every word of their conversation. Had there been a member of staff on duty, I would have asked them to have a polite word, but there wasn't. The conversation then started up again just before 6.30am so I did not get a very long sleep. I intended to speak to the duty manager in the morning, but the only member of staff on duty was a boy who looked about 16 who was complaining that he couldn't be bothered to clear the breakfast tables as it was the most boring part of the job...!! I tried twice to email them but the emails bounced back and twice I have contacted them via their website but have not had the courtesy of a reply in over a month. Clearly they do not care about their guests.

Review 33:Check in was fine. I got to my room and the door was the height of my chest. Not a problem for me and part of the charm but anyone less mobile would struggle to bend double to get in the room.

Review 34:Nothing negative to report.

Review 35:I've stayed at a lot of places, this was one of my favorites for sure. The place is themed around nearby Warwick Castle throughout its interior. Some of the rooms have tiny doors you have to crawl through, very unique. I informed friends that I was staying in the "Bilbo Baggins Suite"! The included hot breakfast was as described, not abbreviated from what was described like many places I've been. The staff was cheerful and accommodating and the price was reasonable. I would definitely stay there again.

Review 36:the rooms need a revamp. carpets are dirty. soft furnishings need replacing. pillows terrible. bathrooms need redecorating. not enough hot water to fill the bath or to have a shower. manager unable to contact. would not reccommend this hotel

Review 37:the local area . the friendliness of the staff especially holly. the breakfast was very good

Review 38:I read a few reviews where they had double booked, so I rang the daybefore to confirm. On arrival however, they only had me booked for onenight, not two. I was nice about it and said I'd be happy to bemoved to their sister pub/inn. Big mistake. The Black Horse Inn roomstank of smoke, and was low on charm to say the least. The Tudor HouseHotel was basic but at least it was clean. I didn't have chance tosample the breakfast as I needed to leave at 8am and I was told, that"if I heard the chef arrive at 7:30am to pop down and mention Iwanted to eat early", despite not being shown around or having aclue where I was. Not hard to text the staff member is it? Great charm, but service is rather poor.

Review 39:Heaps of character in the building itself. My door was a 'halfdoor' that led into a higher ceiling room. The shower down thecorridor was hot and the room well heated and clean

Review 40:My pint of ale was a little disppointing , but was swapped by the bar staff with no issues

Review 41:good place to stay , room was more cosy than expected. Breakfast was very good and warm options for non meat eaters. Room warm for time of year

Review 42:terrible plumbing, rediculously loud noise & vibration minutes after flushing toilet, hardly any hot water during morning shower.

Review 43:Interesting old house, nice staff, good service at breakfast and at bar, bed was fine to sleep in, enough sockets in room, trouble free wi-fi.

Review 44:Lack of attention to detail in room i.e. nowhere to hang wet towels as towel rail and to toilet roll holder were missing although the brackets were still on the tiles . No hooks for hanging anything on bathroom door and no holder for the shower head. Main room light was directly above the solid top of the 4 poster bed ( new way of diffusing light?) and the only other lamp had a dark shade (best do make up in day light!). Had to swap furniture around a bit: bag rack had been positioned by window but table was next to wardrobe on dark side of room!

Review 45:Staff friendly and helpful. Location good for exploring Warwick. Room and linen/towels clean. Good TV in room .

Review 46:Rooms looked as if they been furnished from a junk shop, chest of drawers with cigarette burns on top, peeling trim and a split up the side. Wardrobe a very tall, handpainted cupboard where you would need to be over 6 ft tall to reach up to hang your clothes.Missing shade off the uplighter on the head board exposing wires and bare bulb. Mattress and pillows quite hard. Missing cover off ceiling light in bathroom exposing bare bulbs - which needs to be updated. Turned on the tap and couldn’t turn it off again.Carpet seen better days. Missing shades off lamps downstairs too. Whoever owns this hotel needs to realise what a privilege it is to be the custodian of such an historical building. It must be cherished and the guests are important because they bring in the money to maintain it as it should be. I got the impression that the owners couldn’t care less about their guests if they think they are only worthy of broken lamp fittings and decrepit furniture.

Review 47:Beautiful, genuine medieval property built in 1472 so not Tudor but Plantagenet! Downstairs rooms lovely with huge inglenook.Very convenient for Warwick Castle and the town. Staff very friendly and obliging.Rooms very clean with snowy white towels and bed linen, so thank you to the housekeeper!. Bonus was free wi-fi.

Review 48:With character comes creaky floors and vibrating pipes but it was all part of the novelty of it.

Review 49:It has plenty of character with its Tudor interior, Knights in the dining area, wonky corridors and half height doors on some of the rooms so it makes a pleasant change from the run of the mill hotels.

Review 50:The light fittings could be better and the broken toilet could have been fixed, overall ok. No hot food after 20.30 in the evening was disappointing, would have liked to have eaten in the Tudor but found myself needing to eat at somewhere different that was open later.

Review 51:Room had a shower but no toilet. Toilet was in the hall and was easily the smallest WC I'd ever been in. The entrance to the room was fine for my 7 year old but a struggle for anyone bigger than that. Two flights of very steep steps which were a problem for me. Plug sockets were inappropriately placed and in poor condition.

Review 52:Very friendly and accommodating staff, good location. Quaint with a great sense of history attached to it.

Review 53:Evening meals only adequate. Chef could do with a refresher course on presentation and menu could be modernised. Second (under) pillows on bed very hard and uncomfortable. No free Wi Fi in upstairs bedroom

Review 54:Location, Car parking, good freshly cooked breakfasts, friendly staff, lovely old building, small but comfortable room with very good ensuite bathroom.

Review 55:My room was exceptionally prone to noise. Any movement in the hall was loud and clear in my room and sometimes caused the bed to shake. Additionally, it faced the road which meant that I could hear every single car drive past. I did not sleep well once whilst staying here.

Review 56:The room was comfortable and clean. The bed was very good.

Review 57:There were no towels in the room originally but this was soon sorted out. Don't be put off by the rowdy locals they are harmless

Review 58:This is a beautiful old building perfect for a visit to Warwick Castle who's entrance is almost directly opposite. Food is fantastic & the staff who do everything were lovely, as were the locals who frequent the bar. Loved the fact my dog was allowed in all areas of the hotel & was highly amused by size of some of the doors (borrower sized)

Review 59:Car parking in front a bit tricky as can get blocked in by cars on the road. But was quickly resolved in this case.

Review 60:Place has lot of character which children really liked. Our room (7) had small door which was fun.

Review 61:breakfast limited to between 8 and 9 only. not really designed as a restaurant went elsewhere to eat in the evening.

Review 62:Very old building which still retains some of its Tudor architectural charm. Very well situated for walking into Warwick or a visit to the Castle which is even a shorter walk away. The room was very clean and comfortable albeit rather small for a couple, note that given the buildings age some of the doorways are very low indeed access to my room was particularly so. Good Wi-Fi connection and a smiling welcome from staff. There is no doubt that the hotel is a little tired but hey that part of its ancient charm.

Review 63:We are a band on tour from Canada. We had a day off and came to Warwick. It was the highlight of the trip. What a fantastic Inn with super friendly staff. Absolutely loved it!!

Review 64:When we arrived the lady at the bar didn't give us the best welcoming.... She handed user to the young lad and he was fab and took us to our room.

Review 65:The young lad who seemed to be working the whole time was very polite and efficient. He was run off his feet every morning with serving breakfast but kept professional and chatty! He delivered fab customer service. Breakfast was good too

Review 66:Just lack of a bathroom and toilet in the room. Although we did know this before we booked.

Review 67:Quirky room with original features. Lovely breakfast Lovely staff

Review 68:Single rooms are very small; stairs difficult to mount with luggage.

Review 69:Very good value and a beautiful historic building. My request for an early breakfast was no problem to the hotel at all.

Review 70:The staff were very friendly - let me put my stuff in my room early, stored my bike securely, got me gluten free bread for breakfast. It was easy to find and I had the best sleep I'd had in weeks. Loved that the door only came to my shoulder (I'm small) and the room was slightly wonky. It is old!

Review 71:We were visiting Warwick castle next day , which is only a stones throw away, staff were very friendly , food was good , breakfast recommended , would stay again, but remember this is a fifteenth century building , if you are looking for something modern it's not for you.

Review 72:Only four 'off road' parking spaces. There is restricted street parking (max 2 hours) between 8am and 8pm.

Review 73:The hotel has lots of character and provides an excellent breakfast.

Review 74:The smell of hot cooking oil pervaded the eating areas. Car parking was poor.

Review 75:The history and character of the building was fantastic. A very good location for visiting the castle.

Review 76:I had a bad experience, was asked to change rooms, which we did happily but new room wasn't ready at 3.30 in afternoon. We ended up being made to feel totally embarrassed and uncomfortable, ruined the break and left a day early.

Review 77:Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast really good, food and service.

Review 78:Overpowering smell of fried food on arrival, the kitchen needs a door.....limited parking at front of builiding means on street parking is the only nearby option.

Review 79:Staff were very friendly and helpful - breakfast was good. The pub next door is highly recommended.

Review 80:Charming old hotel with quirky features. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Tasty breakfast. Great location. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again at the right price.

Review 81:No shower riser rail in the room, so it's either a bath or hold the shower head off of the bath taps in your hand.Broken toilet seat that the cleaner must have seen. Pillows the worst we've ever slept on. Quilt cover was ripped and of a low quality. Garish tacky mirror and wall decorations in our room, from we believe, The Range, so out of place in such a lovely old building/room. Cigarette butts and numerous other rubbish in all the plant boxes outside the bedroom windows despite there being a notice in the room warning of a £150 clean up fine for smoking in the room. These planters haven't been cleaned for months looking at the amount of rubbish in them.

Review 82:Friendly helpful staff, lovely building, great breakfast, great location. Great four poster bed.

Review 83:Ok for us but my elderly mother found the stairs difficult. This should be made clearer when booking. Parking was limited and we were advised it was ok to use a nearby cul de sac when no parking was available. We still got a note on our windscreen from a resident though saying residents only.

Review 84:Excellent staff. Awesome service, friendly an helpful. Enjoyed the food. Close to everything.

Review 85:Only down side was there was only a shower and no bath in the Anne Boleyn room, other than that a great stay.

Review 86:Stayed here before a few times. Its a lovely, interesting genuine Tudor building. In a great location too. Will be back.

Review 87:Not really a complaint because w loved the room and how original it was, and the un level floor, but we would have liked the bad levelled for better sleep

Review 88:The location was excellent and the building really in character with the area and castle. Breakfast was very good and bar staff really friendly.

Review 89:someone should learn to do real fried bread , not deep fried (especially crusts)!!

Review 90:location, location, location. friendly staff, nice room. pleasant atmosphere

Review 91:They did not mention in the description that the door to the room was only about 4 feet tall, and that the bathroom for the room was in the hall way. The bathroom as well is much to small for a grown adult to use.

Review 92:The ambiance of the old hotel was great

Review 93:the wifi was really only available in the public rooms. I was unable to access it in our room. The bed could have been more comfortable and it should have been made.

Review 94:The location, a short walk from Warwick Castle was perfect for us. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was superb

Review 95:The steep stairs, and suitcase. The dangerous long levered door closer, set at throat hight. When you bend down sleepy, to get out of the 'very' small door in the early hours of the morning to toilet, or bend towards the sink, the door closer arm sticks out, and is at face/throat hight. One miscalculation, and you hit your face. It should be removed, and a pair of normal, inexpensive sprung, or 'none sprung' door hinges, put in place.

Review 96:The history. The very friendly staff. The food. The character of the building.

Review 97:Bed like sleeping on the floor, pillows like resting you head on the kerb.

Review 98:staff were friendly enough, although the young waiter seemed to do most of the work.

Review 99:The bathroom had no towel rail or toilet roll holder Could have done with some ware to hang towels

Review 100:The building was fantastic staff very friendly and helpful loved our stay

Review 101:Stairs a lot steeper than I'd expected; manageable but a bit of a struggle. Definitely not suitable for the infirm. Sharing toilet and shower facilities OK as three of my friends were on the same floor, but could be awkward with strangers.

Review 102:Lovely picturesque building in comfortable walking distance from town centre. Friendly staff. Pleasant outdoor courtyard for late-night chat. Clean, easy-to-use shower room. Really excellent scrambled eggs (though toast made from sub-standard bread).

Review 103:Parking on the hotel forecourt was limited and there was a danger of getting blocked in by people parking in the marked bays on the roadside.

Review 104:Very atmospheric old Tudor hotel with bags of character. Well maintained considering its age and that no floor, wall, door was at the same angle. Very friendly and helpful staff and good location near Warwick Castle and the town centre. Hotel bar/restaurant was equally atmospheric and though we didn't try the evening meal the breakfast was good and plentiful. A good bar next door too serving craft ales and just up the road was the "Old Post Office" which served numerous real ales and ciders straight from the barrel.

Review 105:If you are looking for pampered luxury then this isn't the place for you. Go to an expensive hotel.

Review 106:Very friendly and helpful staff. Single room sui generis, with very low doorway made the whole experience unique. V good breakfast and lovely surroundings.

Review 107:Couldn't connect to the WiFi. Wile I did have a spot to park my motorcycle, parking is minimal and just off the road

Review 108:Very nice old pub with comfortable bed.if you want sundering different, this is for you.

Review 109:Would have liked a bigger single room with a chair. I understand an en suite would have been difficult but would have been welcome. Would have liked a lounge area.

Review 110:The very friendly and helpful staff, particularly Elliott.

Review 111:The staff were all very friendly and the hotel was just as I had expected.ideal for taking my child with me.an somewhere I would stay again.I loved the old feel of the pub and how she was welcomed to sit with me in the pub area to eat that animals were allowed there which made for a very relaxed friendly atmosphere .my child especially loved how we had a small door to go into our room.

Review 112:I phoned month's ahead to inform them I was booking a night away for my girlfriends birthday. I didn't want anything for free, maybe just a welcome letter in the post to show my girlfriend on her actual birthday.. Nothing arrived..!!

Review 113:Great location, lovely place, friendly staff, really good experience.

Review 114:Absolutely loved our stay here, the staff Jasmine and the young lad were superb and went out of their way to help us and were so friendly, the pub was gorgeous quirky and so old, just perfect after visiting Warwick Castle

Review 115:Travelled with my two teenage children and stayed in the family room. Room was clean and tidy and whilst the bed was too firm for me my daughter thought it was very comfortable. Room is small but we were only in there to sleep. Spent a lovely afternoon exploring Warwick and then spent the next day in Warwick Castle. Breakfast was great.. Cereal and juice followed by a hearty full English with tea/coffee. Only one member of staff at breakfast - could do with more but they are advertising for this! Still, he was kept busy and we couldn't complain. Love the bar/eating areas. Very characterful and my teens loved it.

Review 116:The staff were very polite and efficient The food was delicious The location was brilliant The historical element of the building The old relics and items dotted around the building

Review 117:It didn't bother me, but the stairs very VERY steep and a bit uneven, and my room had a very low doorway. Not for anyone with physical problems!

Review 118:The Tudor building was charming, and the little courtyard very pleasant to sit in

Review 119:Room was a little on the small side for a triple room and the bathroom layout was a little awkward - light switch tucked behind the door, and shower screen made it difficult to access taps. Handbasin was very small - unable to fill kettle!

Review 120:The hotel location is excellent - just a few minutes walk from the town centre. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent on the first night, but less choice available on Saturday am, as they were preparing for a wedding.

Review 121:Dirty room, 80s Orange quilt cover on a lovely 4 poster bed and cheap 80 Miss matched furniture, why ? In such a old room

Review 122:Lovely four poster bed very fitting for the hotel

Review 123:15h century atmosphere at its best, the house and rooms are great and do not lack modern comforts (wlan, bathroom with bath tub!). All was very clean and well tended, the staff friendly and helpful. They also serve great food.

Review 124:The pillows on our bed were very uncomfortable. The fruit juice at breakfast was very watery.

Review 125:The location was good for the purpose of our visit.the meals we had were nice.

Review 126:Prospective stayers should be aware that there are 28 very steep stairs to negotiate and our room (second floor) was not air-conditioned, with one very small window. Being an historic building, noise-proofing is minimal.

Review 127:Good location. Interesting, historic building.

Review 128:Food at dinner was average. The shared toilet is *really* small.

Review 129:Historical inn of the Tudor era, very well kept. It must be understood that comfort in such ancient homes cannot be compared to modern buildings: uneven floors, small rooms, low beams, very steep stairs, etc. are intrinsic aspects of these buildings. We really appreciated this inn and would certainly recommend to anybody.

Review 130:Very steep stairs, retired decor and ambience. Expensive for very basic amenities. No wi fi, bathroom shaving light didn't work. Not value for money and wouldn't stay again.

Review 131:Good location for our purpose. Characterful building. Young staff were friendly

Review 132:Breakfast served between 8 and 9 is too late for business people and ending at 9 is too early for those on holiday.

Review 133:We were warmly welcomed to this very well located hotel with free car parking and free Wi-Fi. This is a very old building and the room was adequate. It is only a short walk to Warwick Castle.

Review 134:The loud music from the place next door but I think this was a one off music night

Review 135:Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The food was excellent ,breakfast and evening meals were superb. We stayed in the Catherine Howard room (10) and it was brill , a wonderful period hotel we would highly reccomend the place

Review 136:Didn't have a bad experience except that the bedroom toilet for our room 7, was outside on the landing and you could barely fit an adult inside it. Very very small. Going to the toilet at night was an endurance test due the bedroom door being only 4 feet 6 inches high.

Review 137:A lovely 14th Century Tudor House, loads of character and history. Great location for Warwick. Beds comfy, breakfast good.

Review 138:We loved the old architecture and ambience of staying in a Tudor hotel. The staff was absolutely superb - very friendly, helpful and kind. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.
