Reviews for Sandcliff Guest House

Review 1:We were overlooking the car park and the lights from the hotel next door were so bright they lit up our room all night even though the curtains were thick.

Review 2:Lovely breakfast. Room very clean and warm. Not far from beach

Review 3:Anytime we book a hotel in Cromer it has to be Sandcliff. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. It's really cosy and the family room is fantastic. The staff are helpful and I couldn't fault the place. It's definately got the seaside feel to it. If your looking for a romantic weekend away its your place x

Review 4:So well-located near the Esplanade and the town. The landlady could not have been more helpful. There was parking available. My room was very clean, warm and comfortable. Breakfast was optional.

Review 5:Windows in the room a little draughty

Review 6:A lovely stay for our anniversary. All staff very friendly, a nice clean room with the best view of the pier so we didn't have to leave the room to watch the new years day fireworks that were going off from the pier and good that we could take our dog to.

Review 7:Very small shower room, toilet too close to wash basin which meant sitting at an angle on toilet. Also there was an overlarge chrome metal and glass shelf above the wash basin which meant it was awkward to brush teeth or wash face without hitting forehead or back of head on front of shelf. Fortunately there was a large bathroom along the corridor. On the night of our stay there was a very strong smell of Indian food in the corridor leading to our room and a lot of noise of people coming in and out of nearby rooms after midnight.

Review 8:Decent sized clean and tidy room, comfortable beds, TV and tea/coffee making facility. The light breakfast was very good, excellent porridge, and the service in the breakfast room was very good.

Review 9:The whole hotel was clean and well presented as was our room. The bathroom was very clean but a little tired looking. The Manager was very helpful and friendly. A great value for money.

Review 10:As a young couple we found the decor a little dated.

Review 11:Lovely location with a brilliant view. The room had all the facilities I expect. The staff that I came across were welcoming and friendly.

Review 12:Hardly saw any staff around; the mattress was worn, spring was exposed at end and one of the bedside lamps need replacing. Bath towels were green/teal, prefer white towels as can judge cleanliness better. The windows had a lot of condensation which made the room feel cold at times. The floors were creaky.

Review 13:The location was superb...minutes from the town centre. Beautiful view across the road. The staff were accommodative of our needs.

Review 14:when my party arrived at the hotel there was no one on the reception eventually a lady came, was not at all pleasant , we did not get the booking that we asked for, the lady we spoke to was no help at all and told my daughter if we were not happy we could leave ,the lady was the manageress.

Review 15:coming home

Review 16:My 7 yr old wanted sausage for her breakfast but was told the only way she could have a sausage was to buy her a full English. Well that was to much for her. They should offer a smaller version for kids.

Review 17:Rooms were basic but clean and had everything required. The full English breakfast was very good and only short walk to the sea front and the shops. Would definitely stay there again.

Review 18:Really unfriendly attitude from lady on reception. My "Sea View" was pathetic from window positioned at the side of the building. Left feeling disappointed

Review 19:Good location and clean

Review 20:Lovely welcoming guest house overlooking the sea. In quiet area but within short walking distance from pier and centre of Cromer. Lovely room with ensuite. Enjoyed a full English breakfast, cereals, toast etc. Pleasant stay, would book again.

Review 21:The double bed was not very comfortable at all.

Review 22:We had a room with a sea view and I am glad we paid the extra, it was lovely to look out and see the sea.

Review 23:low water pressure for the shower and pipework noisy when shower on.

Review 24:location and the breakfast was excellent, nice location and view easy to find and parking available.

Review 25:Nothing to not like considering the price we paid.

Review 26:Amazingly good value for money. Perfectly located for staying after a show in the Pier Theatre. Very friendly manageress and staff, excellent breakfast.

Review 27:The welcome was lukewarm at best. we expected to find a restaurant on site but nothing was offered and despite arriving early evening we were not given any advice on where we could eat. There was no milk in the room and we were on the top floor so had 2 flights of stairs to climb to request some. The TVs were not working and as it was Sunday night the response was "there is nothing I can do" Expected to be compensated but yet again nothing was offered.

Review 28:The room was very clean and characterful with a wonderful view as promised

Review 29:Really friendly staff, fantastic location and lovely room. Very child friendly for my 5 year old, and a lovely child-friendly bistro right next door for dinner too!

Review 30:Breakfast should be included rather than having to pay extra. Showers in both our rooms were terrible, the water pressure was so low it was almost impossible to get wet!!

Review 31:Lovely clean hotel, would have liked a bar area though! Good wifi connection in the bedrooms and great views. Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 32:Very friendly on arrival, only stayed the 1 night. Room was large for a family with massive superking size bed as well as a single. En suite too, tv, kettle etc. All extremely clean. Would recommend

Review 33:Just a pity the bar and restaurant are no longer available.

Review 34:Staff friendly. Room nice and big. Lots of storage. Beds really comfortable. Towels excellent - nice and big. Toiletries in bathroom. Breakfast excellent.

Review 35:The only downside for friends sharing a room, was the bathroom door was a sliding across type, and didn't really close.

Review 36:The room was for 3 adults. It was a generous size and the double and single bed very comfortable. The shared double was enormously spacious, and allowed us to share easily. There was even a glimpse of the sea from the window. The breakfasts were also generous and freshly prepared.

Review 37:The room we stayed in was spotlessly clean. Very comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was great value for money, very clean looking not full of fat. I had porridge on one morning which was tasty. Loads of extras for toast. Really well worth the money we paid.

Review 38:We liked the fact that with the initial booking in the member of staff was very helpful. The double room was very well maintained and everything was spotless.

Review 39:Could have done with either net curtains or blinds at the windows, we were on the front on the ground floor with parking outside window and would possibly be better with extra privacy if needed. breakfast room felt a little dark. the breakfast was good, but would be nice to have a small cooked breakfast offered

Review 40:Our room was very spacious for us, two adults and one child, it was all very clean and had everything we needed

Review 41:Room supplied was nothing like we booked from photo. Very dated we ended up in an upstairs attic room not able to see out of window unless standing up. Approached owner who blamed booking.com. Poor value overall.

Review 42:Location and breakfast

Review 43:We would recommend: hooks in bathroom to hang clothes, place TV on wall & move drawers away from window. Chairs can then be placed near windows as views are great. Double bed mattress was really lumpy maybe new mattress

Review 44:Views from room with dual aspect. Bedding was clean & room was as described on website

Review 45:Nothing bad about this place but it would be nicer if some more interior work was done such as new curtains and carpets, and extra towel rails.

Review 46:Quiet and convenient guest house, easy access to cliff top walk, pier and town. Breakfasts were good and service prompt. It was clean and tidy.

Review 47:Not keen on the fact it's a pet friendly b&b but no dog hairs or smells so didn't bother us

Review 48:Basic but very clean & comfortable free parking, right on the sea front 2 minutes walk into town stayed here before & will stay again,

Review 49:Although the room was clean but there was no room to put anything anywhere and the bathroom was clean but in need of updating.

Review 50:Enjoyed our few days at the hotel.

Review 51:There were new net curtains and shower curtain but the wardrobe and dressing table are beginning to show their age

Review 52:Good position on seafront a short walk from the town and pier. Clean, comfortable beds. Flat screen tv, could pick up free wifi in our room. Tea & coffee making facilities. Hairdryer in drawer. Electric radiator to keep room nice and warm.

Review 53:The small tv and the lack of a comfortable chair in the room. The fact that the bar was not open.

Review 54:The lovely sea view. The comfort and value. The helpful staff and the ideal location.

Review 55:The hotel was warm, cosy and comfortable and the staff very friendly - also in an excellent location with splendid sea-views :) See my photos taken from my room. Very pleased with my stay :)

Review 56:It just needs someone with some interior design skill to improve the rooms with a minimal amount to spend.

Review 57:Friendly and professional staff. Wifi in bedroom. Spacious rooms.

Review 58:the door to the on-suit was off its rails and it would not go back on again.bi -fold door would be better...

Review 59:overall it was very good dont think there maximiseing there potental.bar not open...and lunchers n evening meals...add to go next door...

Review 60:The rooms, the wallpaper look ok. The curtains looked like that were fighting the curtain rail covers. They never matched. The toilet/ shower had mould on the walls and was dated, looked out to 80's. The toilet seat hit your back when you say in the toilet. It was given a rating of 8/10 by you I would rate it as 4.5 -5/10. It was over priced for what it was.

Review 61:Breakfast was good, nothing special

Review 62:Matresses need updating, rooms showing signs of age.

Review 63:Close to town, clean rooms friendly staff, hotel needs a makeover but if I ever return to Cromer I would stay here again.

Review 64:A breakfast request must have been too difficult for the chef although it's on the menu! I asked for bacon and egg on toast and got bacon and egg but no toast, when i asked where the toast was and repeated that i asked for this on white toast i got brought 4 quarters of toast and only 1 quarter was white. Bit of a let down on an other wise great stay.

Review 65:All round comfy clean room and facilities.

Review 66:The fact we only stayed one night.

Review 67:Comfort, cleanliness and cost all excellent. Would be my first choice when visiting Cromer again. Would definitely recommend.

Review 68:thought the room was a little small but over all we had a very pleasant stay lovely views and the breakfast was really very very nice. everything was so close by. If we were to come back to Cromer we would book with you again. thank you to you all.

Review 69:No adverse comments.

Review 70:Hotel was about 5 mins from the town centre, directly overlooking the prom and sea with on site car parking. Room was very comfortable, reasonable size, spotlessly clean, with a good en suite, TV and tea/coffee making. Staff chatty and helpful.

Review 71:room smelt musty, guests were smoking in their rooms on top floor which made hallway smell, tired decorations, cheap awful soggy open coil mattress where you could feel every spring !

Review 72:nice location and sea views

Review 73:Parking can be tight.

Review 74:Nice guest house with sea view and easy access to lovely walks along the cliffs. Couple of minutes into town. Very helpful staff.

Review 75:Funny kettle. An no wear to hang damp towel after washing .other than a chair But lots teas coffees so ok

Review 76:Cromer . It was a side room top floor good sea view s over putting green s .double bed .no noise from other geast. Nice old Cromer building . Stayed in different room before nice too.

Review 77:The staff were so friendly and welcoming. I was traveling with a big dog and I was given a room that suited his needs for quiet. Great location meaning I got an early morning walk on the beach and just a stroll from good old fashioned fish and chips. A traditional English guest house with no frills and no stress. Loved it totally.

Review 78:Being in the room next to reception. Baring in mind the owners are awarethey have guests staying in the reception area, there were plenty ofloud conversations throughout the day and night that would questionotherwise! Had we been aware of where we were staying beforehand wewould have cancelled booking. A shame as we really liked the locationand staff very friendly.

Review 79:Great location particularly if on Carnival week, and only 5 minutes frombeach and shops.

Review 80:The rooms, although v clean were musty and could do with airing pre arrival...that included drawers. If you want seaview, check with hotel as booking on line does not seem to guarantee this

Review 81:Breakfast was excellent ,value for money, marvellous choices of spreads 4 toast, all products fresh and well presented,

Review 82:That you could hear other guests in other rooms snoring and coughing, did not sleep that well never had that at a premier inn or travel lodge. Also parking on premises is limited

Review 83:Friendly staff, clean and comfortable and good location

Review 84:Sliding bathroom door chaffing against the wall, made a hell of a noise, enough to wake anyone else asleep in the room.

Review 85:Location Breakfast was an additional £7.95 each, but was well worth it.

Review 86:Can't think of anything.

Review 87:Very comfortable room with huge queen size bed. Very convenient position of the sea front and we had a side sea view. Can't comment on breakfast as we opted for room only but we have stayed before a few years back and it was very nice then.

Review 88:Being on the top floor, 3 flights of stairs were a bit of a problem with large luggage.

Review 89:Excellent location with good sea views. Room and beds comfortable.

Review 90:Excellent location (right on sea front, walking distance from all amenities), friendly and helpful staff. Bathroom facilities a little basic, but that's fair enough at such a reasonable price.

Review 91:Wifi was extremely intermittent - about 10 minutes each evening. The breakfast was not as good as at Morrisons! (local supermarket) Parking was difficult

Review 92:The bedroom was spacious and pleasant

Review 93:I would prefer a bigger bed, but understand the space restrictions.

Review 94:The staff were friendly and helpful. The bedroom was beautifully decorated and the breakfast was cooked to order, so was fresh and hot.

Review 95:My son made the booking and was unable to find accommodation with BATH en suite. Booking made at short notice so I agreed to have a good rate and no bath! I used single bed but would be preferable to have a headboard to lean against. No WIFI .......

Review 96:Arrived after 4 hour drive and in the rain. Stepping into the Reception it was cosy and the lady was friendly and helpful. Bed and room fine and breakfast excellent.

Review 97:Only thing was that although the Breakfast was absolutely lovely it did seem a little expensive we were charged £15.85 a day for one adult and 2 children under 6 when all the children ate was a bowl of cereal and some toast.

Review 98:Room was very clean and the staff were very friendly

Review 99:Asked for see view as visit was for 1st anniversary but we didn't get one. Didn't have breakfast as stopped taking orders at 9.10

Review 100:Nice guest house for price. Basic small Room but was nicely decorated and clean.

Review 101:The only thing that we didn't care for was when we asked if it was possible to get a taxi call for us to take us we're asked if we had a phone. We did say yes but we didn't have a phone package because we were traveling with a Canadian phone and there was no offer extended to call us the taxi. I was a little bit AVE disappointment however it was easy enough we walk downtown got a taxi and the hotel allowed us to keep our luggage behind the front desk until we attended church or after noon time.

Review 102:Easy to get to the hotel fron the train and a short walk to the downtown area. Although we are on the top floor of the hotel it was easy to get to room.

Review 103:We took our grandson for 2 nights The room we had booked had a sea view which our grandson thought was great he could see the wind farm out at sea.It was very clean and the beds were comfortable would stay again

Review 104:I should have asked for a ground floor room as found going up and down the stairs to my room hard going.

Review 105:Good location, loads to eat at breakfast time friendly staff great sea views.

Review 106:Friendly staff. Room and service matched expectations. Relatively basic but perfectly adequate. Very good breakfast and brisk service. Clean, tidy comfortable. No frills. I booked relatively late for a busy carnival weekend in Cromer and my single room with shared facilities came at a very reasonable price comparatively and did what it said on the tin. This hotel has sea views to front rooms - so go for that - and is near to sea front walks opposite with easy parking and within less than half a mile (at most ) of the town centre. I have another booking for two rooms in October. Very affordable. Probably why it is full a lot of the year.

Review 107:Shared bathroom, but no big deal as I saw another bathroom, on the floor below, and there are other toilets in the restaurant area. The room, I was in had a wash basin, but the water tap is a bit slow, not a big issue, as I did something else as the sink filled up. There is an issue with traffic noise, as the hotel is situated next to the main road, but not to bad at night as is quiet. Not an issue at night, but could be if you wanted an afternoon nap. Could do with double glazing, which may cut some of the noise down. Please note that mobile phone reception, in this part of Norfolk is poor, but there is free WiFi in the restaurant.

Review 108:Only 10 mins walk from the railway station, the room was nice and clean, good bed, and the breakfast was well served. The staff are very helpful, The WiFi is good in the restaurant areas, but not so good upstairs. Not far from the sea front, I had a room overlooking the sea.

Review 109:Only one chair to sit on between 2 people. My bed was very uncomfortable could feel all the springs. Because the weather was good we were out most of the time so did not have to stay in the room much

Review 110:Location

Review 111:The room was very small and although I knew I had to share a bathroom it was quite a walk away. The curtains were frayed and there was no light over the basin. It's unusual to charge separately for breakfast, though it was a good one. There was no lounge.

Review 112:I got the upstairs quiet room I requested so didn't hear any other guests, though the traffic along Runton Road is pretty noisy. The staff were very friendly.

Review 113:Because of it's location I would have preferred a seaview room but I booked quite late on so none were available.

Review 114:The location couldn't be better right on the seafront and only a few minutes walk into Cromer. Room was very clean. Couldn't fault the place at all and very good value for money.

Review 115:Very well situated on the seafront. Spotlessly clean, lots of hot water and breakfast was excellent with well cooked 'full English' and quality fruit and cereals. Excellent value for money. Would definitely stay again.

Review 116:Noisy birthday celebration 'til 12.30. Not the managements' fault and they did give me another room. I got the impression my booking had not got through exactly as intended.

Review 117:The Norfolk country, the sea. The music festival at Southrepps.

Review 118:The room and shared bathroom were extremely clean and the host incredibly kind and helpful - even staying up very late when my flight was delayed to let me in. I could see the sea from my room and the bed was very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again when in Cromer.

Review 119:No replenished towels, tea or coffee, beds not made, etc., questionable cleanliness, no-one at reception to greet (busy watching TV elsewhere!) Advertise bar but don't be fooled, bar not used, no lift and put on 3rd floor even though injured and requested ground floor, these rooms were taken by people with pets, also, no sea view as advertised and requested

Review 120:Short walk to town restaurants and bars

Review 121:to many floor levels in an old building also our bathroom v small easy to hit head whilst using the toilet parking limited charged morefor breakfast than amount in booking paperwork

Review 122:the view overlooking the sea albeit across a busy road very good breakfast

Review 123:The room was clean and tidy, but a bit tired. Bed was very comfortable. The location was ideal for us close to many of North Norfolk's beautiful coast lines and places of interest.

Review 124:Very small en suite, not convenient for showering or using the toilet or basin. Sliding door that rattled all night unless left open.

Review 125:Position on seafront near town. Very clean.

Review 126:would of preferred a better more powerful shower but this is a minor detail and didnt affect our holiday in any way

Review 127:fabulous full english breakfast, after a really comfy bed and pillows, great price and great location. sea view stunning. very clean.would of preferred

Review 128:We would recommend this B&B to anyone who wants a comfortable, friendly and clean B&B within easy walking distance of Cromer. The one minor thing that lets it down slightly is the reception area, it needs updating like the rest of the building.

Review 129:Some of the units were a little tired .

Review 130:The location was excellent, centrally placed in Cromer with easy access to the town centre. The lineen and room was kept very clean. The staff were helpful.

Review 131:although our room was quite comfy, it was quite small, with a very small shower room, but was quite adequate for our needs

Review 132:It was convenient for the town of Cromer, with a short walk into the town, overlooked the sea, although we had a back room, which was quiet.
