Reviews for The Rose and Crown

Review 1:I did not really have any bad comments. I think an even better would have been that the side order for dinner should have come with the main course as it was quite sparse and added to what was an already expensive main course.

Review 2:The staff were really friendly. I liked the fact they did not take payment on arrival but at the end of the stay. A small but important thing for me which makes me feel that I am more important than the money I am paying. The room I stayed in was lovely with everything I needed. Music was playing on a radio when I came in. Lots of lovely little things like that which shows me someone has thought a lot about what they want to achieve.

Review 3:Great location in the centre of Warwick, easy walk to the castle etc. Not as noisy at night as we were expecting - but it was January and pouring with rain!

Review 4:We were allocated a room in a property around the corner, which was excellent but I would have preferred to have been in the main hotel. The parking in the area is limited

Review 5:The town is very elegant with beautiful old buildings. The location of the hotel was excellent .our room was large newly refurbished ,clean with an excellent bathroom and shower

Review 6:The room was cold and the radiator was big enough or powerful enough to warm the room. I like a cold bedroom, but had to put the spare duvet on the bed for extra warmth. The ironing board was pointless and could not be used. The iron had a black stain on the metal plate. The radiator in the bathroom did not work and looked slightly dubious in to repair, and the fan did not work on the bathroom.

Review 7:The bed was super comfy. The room was spacious and the decor was lovely. Well stocked tea tray.

Review 8:Lovely room, beautifully decorated with all the facilities needed in a bed and breakfast. Great location right intbw centre of Warwick. Great breakfast too!

Review 9:noisy if staying in pub accomadation ,,we requested a move to number 14 which was on the square and found it perfect for us who like our sleep

Review 10:lovely rooms big enough for a family of 4.nice pub lovely food.staff were great when we requested a move to another room due to noise.

Review 11:Stayed 2 nights - cost of room too expensive for this type of accomodation - shower facilities poor in room 3. Stairs to rooms handrail grubby and didn't smell very nice!!!!

Review 12:Breakfast excellent - stayed while visiting family in Warwick - staff lovely.

Review 13:A great place for an overnight stay in Warwick. The rooms are large and comfortable and the pub is a good place to spend a relaxed evening. Food and service were excellent.

Review 14:Had a double and a twin room and the double room was very small for the price - couldn't even open the wardrobe fully as it hit the bottom of bed.

Review 15:Nice location, helpful staff and breakfast was fantastic - large variety and quality produce, cooked and presented very well.

Review 16:It would be all 10's if there was soundproofing on the window if no. 9. in the annex. The old-style sash window facing the market square let in sound as if it was open.

Review 17:Very helpful staff. Room equipped to a high level.

Review 18:Noise from bar downstairs which stopped around 2am so I would advise against stopping here if you have a young family as its very noisy at night

Review 19:The location was good and the pub itself was lovely

Review 20:Faultlessly clean, lovely decor, big powerful shower, great quality products in bathroom. Warm welcome, breakfast was delicious with quality ingredients.

Review 21:Breakfast a let down. We stayed in the annexe around the corner on the nain square. Stairs very steep. Wouldnt suit anyone wth mobility probkems. Would lije to have been informed we were being put in there before arriving. Maybe as part of the confirnation.

Review 22:Staff friendly and efficient. Lovely location. Great atmosphere.

Review 23:No communication from hotel that the yearly fun fair was directly outside our room the night we were staying. Had no sleep from the noise, staff did not seem to care that we were upset. Childs pull out bed was uncomfortable.

Review 24:Breakfast was nice.

Review 25:Service was a bit slow on breakfast. Last day they forgot to bring it, and I had to ask for it after waiting for a long time.

Review 26:Clean and modern room and bathroom, big enough.

Review 27:Breakfast was a disaster. Untrained, surly staff. Very poor cooking. Nothing explained. Really not good enough. I didn't feel welcome and reading reviews elsewhere, it seems this has been an issue for some time. Sort it out. It is not acceptable to hear that your service is below standard and then let it remain so.

Review 28:The location is good. The water and kettle in the room was welcome. Spacious bathroom. All very clean.

Review 29:I think, for what the hotel is, it cost a lot of money. I expected a nicer room with more charm & character, which is why I chose it over the other hotels in Warwick (as the very much more expensive choice). I was very disappointed as I thought it was extremely ordinary, and the room was booked for my partner's 30th birthday.

Review 30:The hotel is in the middle of Warwick and has great food.

Review 31:Slight slowness of service. One of our starters was too spicy and if farmed fish is served please mention that fact otherwise assumption is that the product is wild which the sea bass in question was not.

Review 32:Room facilities, plus comfort.Food in Restaurant very good also.

Review 33:Very noisy from pub until it closed, not ideal with young children, was given an awful table in restaurant, had to ask to be moved, breakfast staff 2nd day very apathetic, had to ask for drinks and hot food order! Wished they could cook soft eggs, tried poached and fried, both hard from sitting under hot plate lights

Review 34:Brillant location and great pub / restaurant, rooms very clean and well appointed, food on steak night excellent

Review 35:The drinks were a little pricey. Although a hairdryer and iron were supplied there werent enough sockets available.

Review 36:Breakfast very good, room was large.

Review 37:As it was the annual 'Mop' fair it was very noisy from 5pm - 10pm as our room was overlooking part of the fair. Also room not suitable for elderly as so many steps to room.

Review 38:Great location, lovely room with a view of the market square. Nice and clean and food lovely! Staff so friendly and helpful!

Review 39:We stayed in the midst of the Mop Fair. The noise was horrendous until after midnight and then from dawn. Food is overpriced and poorly cooked. Waiting staff have a very poor grasp of the wine list. Breakfast was fine.

Review 40:We enjoyed our stay here. The staff were very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. We chose not to eat here but the menu looked very good. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

Review 41:Service at breakfast could be painfully slow at times (but lovely when arrived!).

Review 42:Lovely pub in the heart of Warwick. Great food menu, well catered for at breakfast. Friendly accommodating staff.

Review 43:The only criticism we had was the shower in our room, the pressure was very strong and thus caused the shower to soak the rest of the bathroom. Maybe a redesign of that room would suit better, saving any damage to floors/walls in the long term etc.

Review 44:We visited Warwick to go to the local race track, we loved the old town, although its changed a little over the last few years. the staff at the pub were extremely helpful the room was lovely and even though it was above the bar there wasn't any noise. very pleasant, enjoyable and relaxing stay.

Review 45:Nothing negative to say.

Review 46:I cannot wait to stay here again. The rooms on the square are a great location, quiet, roomy & clean. Breakfast was good. I felt quite comfortable & at home as the staff was friendly. I would recommend dining here too. The stay was well worth the price.

Review 47:They put us in a separate building, not the Rose and Crown. Misleading when you make a reservation and expect to stay in the actual Rose and Crown building. Excessive heat in the room they put us which was over a restaurant

Review 48:the fire alarm went off at 01.30am , we had to evacuate , there wasn't a fire but a fault on the system which was linked to the adjoining premises where the fault lay ,.all good fun though ,the fire service arrived promptly and the hotel staff were very efficient dealing with the problem.within an hour or so Narrow single beds in rooms Warwick castle exorbitantly expensive at £27 per adult entry, there were 4 of us and we were very disappointed at not being able to afford those prices ,as we were only in Warwick for 1 day and didn't think it was worth the expense

Review 49:fantastic location , wonderful food , lovely staff who couldn't do enough for you , very spacious comfortable rooms Recommend a visit to the Mill gardens - beautiful !

Review 50:The only issue is you are right next to a few pubs so can be a little noisy but that can't be helped really

Review 51:The room was lovely it was clean and the bathroom was gorgeous. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bed our daughter was on was very comfortable too. Would definitely stay here again. Breakfast the next morning was fab and the staff friendly and helpful

Review 52:We travelled with our 1 year old daughter, and therefore required a travel cot, this did not leave much space to move about as the room was on the smaller size.

Review 53:The staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful. The website has many photos of the rooms and what you saw was what we got! It was lovely to have the rooms look just as good as the photos. Also, food at the restaurant was excellent at every meal.

Review 54:Dinner was disappointing and over-priced in our opinion (restaurant prices for pub-grub). However, lots of other dining options near by. Day-time parking outside the accommodation is limited although generally available (on day-time meters) not too far away.

Review 55:Dog-friendly and in a good position in the centre of Warwick. Breakfast is plentiful and the staff are pleasant.

Review 56:There was nothing that I didn't like

Review 57:Loved the quaint building, the convenience, location, service, food and cleanliness. It was a unique experience taking a room above the pub. Warwick is awesome and this was such a convenient place to stay.

Review 58:Overall I can not point out any downside to my stay.

Review 59:A cute English Pub perfectly located on the central square of Warwick - the pub itself provided good food and was very clean and the staff very pleasant to deal with. If you are staying in Warwick this is where you should choose.

Review 60:Room could of done with a lick of paint just to freshen it up, but everything else was fine.

Review 61:The location was brilliant, central for all the bars, shops & restaurants. The staff at the Rose & Crown were absolutely fantastic, so welcoming & really couldn't do enough for you.....just perfect. We took our Pug & they really couldn't do enough..We will definitely return.

Review 62:Stayed one night kindly upgraded to a family room as wanted a bath. Friendly staff, great room very homely and slept amazingly on the bed. Nice to have the restaurant at the pub as food was great and a really nice buzy vibe in the evening. Would def recommend it was a lovely location in the quite square. Stayed in the rooms opposite pub. Will be back if visiting Warwick again, lovely town.

Review 63:The bar prices for wine. The poor bar staff having to mop the floor all the time. Some clown had the bright idea of removing the drip trays.???

Review 64:Room was very spacious and clean. Breakfast was very nice when we finally got it ,good job it wasnt busy.

Review 65:The room i felt was over price, plus if you have a room at the front, your right above all the smokers, so if your out all day and the window is open, you'll have smoke in your room from morning to night, which isn't pleasant, so make sure you ask for a room away from the front (which is a shame as it has a great view) this is why i feel the price is too much for the roon

Review 66:The atmosphere and the staff where great and the location is amazing, plus a 2 mins walk to Warwick castle side gate.

Review 67:tiny bedroom.not worth 100 pounds a night.not what was described on the website.evening meal mediocre and overpriced.

Review 68:location perfect.breakfast perfect

Review 69:Woken up at 0600 on Saturday morning by the market tradesmen setting up in the square. Parking close to the hotel is not great during the day (30 minutes maximum from 0900-1800).

Review 70:Our Jack Russell puppy was made very welcome. Breakfast was very good. Nice, central location for the town.

Review 71:It is good to know that there is no elevator and staircases are narrow.

Review 72:We were guests at Тhe Rose and Crown for four nights in August 2015. Our stay was very enjoyable. We were accommodated in a recently renovated room on the third floor, which was spacious and very clean. The bathroom had everything you need. Breakfast was very delicious. Food, drinks and atmosphere in the evenings brought us great pleasure. The Rose and Crown is situated very central in Warwick.

Review 73:Staff helpful. Clean, big room - double plus 3 singles and still lots of space. Breakfast menu - good choice and freshly cooked. 30mins parking outside, 24h pay and display at the rear. Evening meals - expensive but good. Quiet location yet only a minute walk from other bars etc. 5mins walk to castle entrance. Local park, 15 mins walk - well maintained and equipped, play area, lake, tennis etc.

Review 74:Being charged Twice for the stay, with the hotel manager really not that helpful and indeed saying the error was because we booked through booking.com and almost put the error back onto myself and Booking.com. and indeed said that they would rather people book direct with them, very odd thing to say we thought!!! Shame his approach was poor, but his staff were fantastic and helpful.

Review 75:Very nice hotel and location

Review 76:We loved it all!

Review 77:The staff were amazing, although we had a slight problem with our booking of room No 2, Mike the manager, handled everything wonderfully to ensure that we were comfortable. We even got a free bottle of Rose during dinner to compensate. All of the staff were friendly, it is a charming place, centrally located with everything in the room that you need.

Review 78:In Room 4, and one night the neighbors (sounded like many children) were extremely loud running up and down halls, slamming doors--and this was after midnight. Not the inn's fault, but old building so you can basically hear everything. Pub noise was not bad at all, but we stayed Mon-Wed, so not sure if weekends are louder.

Review 79:The Rose & Crown is ideally located for exploring Warwick, the castle-easy walk- and nearby Stratford-easy drive or convenient bus ride. The room was very spacious and clean and pub was beautiful. Staff is friendly as are the locals.

Review 80:Sofa bed uncomfortable and not safe for young children

Review 81:Standard of fitting and fixtures e.g. bathroom. Staff friendliness on greeting. Music playing in room on arrival.

Review 82:Found it hard to drive into market square but all day parking at rear was £6 a day.

Review 83:Very nice room with lovely ensuite. Pub had a good menu and a nice vibe

Review 84:Nothing

Review 85:The rooms had modern convenience but still keeping that old world charm. Our breakfast waitress, Paris, was wonderful, very friendly, and helpful giving us tips on sightseeing. Really enjoyed our stay and have already highly recommended it to others. Great value for money.

Review 86:Probably recommended that family rooms are on the second floor only, not above the bar. Was a little noisy.

Review 87:Everything else. The staff were very pleasant and the location was great. Food was very nice.

Review 88:Nothing.

Review 89:The Rose and Crown was a very pleasant surprise, the decor and presentation was lovely, location ideal and parking very handy at Linen St car park, secure for overnight. This information supplied by staff member.

Review 90:The stairs going to the room was a little tight with the bags we had, no elevator.

Review 91:The staff was very polite and helpful, the location was perfect (close to everything), the breakfest was great. We arrived a little early but they let us store our bags till check in time, and we had a few beers while we waited.

Review 92:We had to wait more 1 1/2 hours for our dinner to be served Saturday night.

Review 93:The rooms were lovely. The meal was nice when it finally arrived. The breakfast was very good. Perfect location for us.

Review 94:Ideal location close to Warwick Castle. Staff were polite, cheerful and helpful. Room was clean and well furnished. TV and Wifi both worked well. Good range of tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc in room. Full English Breakfast cooked to order and served piping hot

Review 95:Smarties with coffee - great idea. Stayed overnight with my grown up daughter and went to concert at the castle. Ideal location. Nice decor. Would stay again

Review 96:Our room in the annex although smart and well appointed was noisy with bins outside our window collected in the early hours and early morning ..so many bottles! Even with the windows shut on a very hot night it was noisy. Sorry .....

Review 97:The staff were great and the food and ambiance of the pub was great.

Review 98:I booked two family rooms and requested quiet rooms. The only family rooms seemed to be on the first floor and immediately above the bar which played loud music until midnight and 1 o'clock. I should have been advised of the loud music and offered a different location.

Review 99:Location and food.

Review 100:The fire alarm woke us at 7.30am due to burnt toast. Good to know it works...

Review 101:Relaxed friendly atmosphere. We stayed in a family room which I couldn't fault.

Review 102:The bed was extremely comfortable, and the room was a very good size as was the bathroom, and both stylishly decorated. We really enjoyed the fact that breakfast was served up to 11 am should you wish. I would be happy to visit again.

Review 103:Extremely noisy! Our family room located directly above bar which didn't close until 1.00am Friday and Saturday. Disturbed again early next morning as staff prepared for breakfast. Bed uncomfortable too, so not much sleep had! No car parking provided. Had to drop off bags at hotel then drive to multi storey and pay £6.00 per day. Staff friendly but service was slow.

Review 104:Decor nice. Good atmosphere. Central location, great for visiting Warwick Castle.

Review 105:Great location for the castle as right in the heart of the town centre. Car park very close and £4 only for overnight Sat and Sun is free all day. Very good choice for breakfast and excellent quality of food including delicious bread for my daughter who is a coeliac. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 106:WiFi in the room was appalling. Parking wasn't very convenient or cheap.

Review 107:Comfortable, well appointed, central, excellent food, nice service, well organised. Did I mention the food?

Review 108:Location of the Rose and Crown brilliant just a short walk to the castle which we had purchased a two day ticket for. Very pretty outside with little tables, nicely decorated interior, very clean and friendly staff. Lovely comfortable bed. We all had a lovely time, would go again.

Review 109:Each room should have a seperate key

Review 110:First impression was it felt strange having a room away from the main building, however this worked well and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff and breakfast were both top rate.

Review 111:Our room was above the pub so it got a bit noisy (in the weekend they turn on the music at seven in the morning). In other rooms this might not be a problem

Review 112:The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious.

Review 113:Unfortunately our room was above pub, and on Saturday night we weren't able to sleep until 1pm when all guests finished their drinks and drunken songs.

Review 114:Breakfast was fabulous

Review 115:lovely room, mouthwatering dinner at the pub and English breakfast. We were sorry we booked there for just one night! Will definitely be staying there again!!!

Review 116:The bed and soda bed was on a slant so you rolled to the edge of the seem betwen the beds. The sofa bed was uncomfortable. Felt ever slat and was also on an incline. Falling down the bed. We didn't sleep all wknd.

Review 117:The food. Staff and location

Review 118:Reception in bar meant that barman had to fit reception between serving so no personal friendly greeting. At breakfast, no explanation to residents of what's available. Waited nearly one hour for full a English with no explanation. It turned out they had run out of bacon! Staff were personable but didn't think to explain or offer cereals, toast or more drinks while we waited.

Review 119:Well located for central Warwick. Modern, clean spacious and well appointed room.

Review 120:The location on to the market square in Warwick was beautiful at christmas time. The rooms were clean, cosy and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was tasty and varied. I will be back the next time we visit the UK.

Review 121:Going out in the cold and rain to get to breakfast use pub . Very old and noisy when anyone used stairs or moved around. Price for a single person was very high. Checking in was a bit chaotic as the staff so busy with lunch at that time and no real check in desk.

Review 122:Room decorated lovely and bathroom excellent with soap and shower gel. Breakfast was good but cold when I got it . Staff very nice and friendly.

Review 123:We had a twin room, which was nice, but the beds were very, very narrow. Not normal size and a bit uncomfortable because of that.

Review 124:The hotel was very nice and the breakfast was excellent. Very convenient for everything in the area.

Review 125:Rm 1 double bed uncomfortable. Bathroom rm 4 cold and damage to side of bath. Food and drink very expensive. Very noisy as we were above the bar and it was noisy until early morning. 7am staff arrived put music on and were quite loud.

Review 126:The Rose and Crown itself was very nice and the majority of the staff were excellent. Room 4 very nice. Dinner very good.

Review 127:Some of the staff were lacking training...it is a busy time ( Xmas parties) so we understand that perhaps a number of new young inexperienced staff.

Review 128:The quality of the food and the location was excellent.

Review 129:We stayed in room 7 which was tiny and had a foul smell. This may be an exception as we did not see (or smell!) any other rooms. We soon discovered it was the wardrobe which we had to keep closed for the whole of our stay. This meant that we could not hang any clothes up and instead had to drape our things over the towel rail in the bathroom. It spoilt the first half hour of our trip but we soon got over it and enjoyed the rest of our time.

Review 130:Staff were lovely and welcoming. Food was excellent.

Review 131:More clarity of information needed prior to booking e.g. just about the only parking available was the multi-story which, admittedly, was nearby. We expected our room to be in the Rose and Crown and not in the annexe. Poor selection of breads and fruits at breakfast.

Review 132:The room was very clean and comfortable. We were in walking distance of the main sights.
