Reviews for Les Glycines - Chateaux et Hotels Collection

Review 1:Can't understand price position for rooms and particularly food. There are much better 'value-for-money' options in this delightful village. This one is miles out of line. Beware 'cheap deals' or 'offers' here - you will be shunted off to the older, shabbier rooms - instead of the newer, modern additions. We had a split-level room with an upstairs bathroom - which needed great care to access particularly in the night!

Review 2:Hotel location; peace & quiet; helpful staff

Review 3:The room was nothing like the website pictures - small, dark, gloomy and basic - we requested an upgrade and ended up paying extra to get a half decent room. This meant it became poor value for money. We found the reception staff arrogant and aloof and completely oblivious to the concerns about the standard of the rooms. We also were unable to get a reservation to the hotels restaurant on the first night and were told that we needed to arrange in advance and that had we booked direct rather than through booking this would have been made clear - we were made to feel like second class citizens because we had not booked direct. The irony was that there were about ten tables occupied in the restaurant with a full second room and outdoor area completely empty - staggering that they were unwilling to fit us in with so much empty capacity. We will definitely take the opportunity to try other hotels the next time we visit the Dordogne.

Review 4:The food in the restaurant was very good

Review 5:All the staff are unfailingly helpful and friendly. The gastronomic restaurant is excellent. The hotel is very clean and is a lovely place to stay.

Review 6:Upon arrival we were told the restaurant was full for dinner. I suggested that they should have e-mailed me earlier asking if I wanted a table or give priority to residents. I was told I should have known that reservations are necessary. I did get two e-mails promoting the spa but was told that this was "different" and as I had booked through Booking.com , rather than direct, they would not contact me. Breakfast seemed expensive at 17 euros and at 9 euros for a small glass of house wine it was not surprising that the bar was always empty.

Review 7:Good location and grounds. Decent size bedroom.

Review 8:Zero complaints.

Review 9:We stayed in a lodge and LOVED our room. It was spacious, modern, beautifully decorated snd very private. We stayed 5 nights and loved every minute of it.

Review 10:Although the food in the restaurant for dinner was very good, the prices were quite high.

Review 11:The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Service was wonderful and the location of hotel was excellent.

Review 12:The room description was inaccurate. The first room I had looked nothing like the photo on your website. So beware when you book a charm room it could disappoint you! We had to change rooms and for one night pay a lot more money until we were moved to our correct room type.

Review 13:Very dog friendly and the grounds were beautiful and well maintained. The roi eventually got was lovely and what we had expected. Staff were very good

Review 14:Beautiful location, the garden rooms are lovely and the food is excellent albeit pricey. Perfect start to our mini-moon after getting married in the region.

Review 15:Christelle went above and beyond to assist us when our luggage was left behind at the previous hotel during the course of our trip. We appreciated her time in making arrangements to have the luggage delivered and her genuine concern for our situation. I can't say enough good things about the quality of service and kindness we received at the gorgeous Les Glycines. The hotel itself was elegant, tranquil and in an ideal location. We would definitely stay here again and thought it a good value for the money.

Review 16:Bathrooms could be updated (there was both a bath and a shower).

Review 17:Room was beautiful! (the Lillie-Rose). Terrace opened up to large gardens (and a pool). Great location. Beautifully renovated hotel. Nice bar.

Review 18:No fridge in the room and when we asked for ice we were told not possible. The wifi hardly worked.

Review 19:The decor was lovely, the pool and gardens were quiet and peaceful.

Review 20:Breakfast is served from 0800 to 1000 each morning. For some guests an earlier start might be appreciated. Breakfast can be served in room if required, and perhaps at different times?

Review 21:All the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Their standard of spoken English is generally very good. The restaurant food and wine is excellent. The hotel decor is lovely. It is classed as a 4 star hotel, and this is truly deserved.

Review 22:Would be great if the bistro was open in the evenings, not just the gourmet restaurant,to give a more dining choice.

Review 23:The park and pool area are beautiful and the interior deco is very stylish. All staff very friendly. Would definitely recommend

Review 24:Super friendly reception and service. Top notch facilities, including a big swimming pool. Great room with comfortable bed and superb bathroom. The restaurant is one of the best in the entire region. You must dine here.

Review 25:Breakfast leaves room for improvement. For its price and given the excellent restaurant, one could expect a more personalized approach instead of the 13 in a dozen buffet formula. We expected home made jam and real/fresh French croissants instead of factory made jam and viennoiserie.

Review 26:Excellent hotel and restaurant, friendly and professional staff, great garden/swimming pool.

Review 27:Nothing. It was perfect. Did I mention the amazing cuisine?

Review 28:The cuisine, the attentive and elegant service, the lovely garden and pool, the gracefully renovated historic building, and the location in the beautiful Dordogne valley.

Review 44:No tea making facilities in room. Bit of corridor noise

Review 45:Clean and modern

Review 46:Front desk often had nobody there. Someone was usually close by, but it's nice to have someone available. Wish that drinks/food were served out by the pool area, because it's lovely out there.

Review 47:loved the site, the warmth mixed with elegant simplicity, and the breakfasts were fabulous. Room beautiful and comfy!

Review 49:Absolutely everything . Could not be faulted.

Review 50:Excellent service, very friendly, caring and adaptable. Very nice parkwith a pool where you can relax. Refined and cosy rooms, good taste andwarm atmosphere. Excellent table, a genuine gastronomic restaurant whichwould deserve at least one Michelin star.

Review 51:We stayed two nights like most people who were travelling round France but the evening menu did not change. Would have been nice for part of it to change

Review 52:A smart and well run hotel, meals a bit expensive in a lovely area.

Review 53:Breakfast was a little institutional and not up to the standards of a first class hotel.

Review 54:Beautifully renovated hotel in a great location for exploring the Dordogne. Room was large and comfortable. Can easily walk into town for restaurants, shopping and the prehistoric museum.

Review 55:The hotel was right on the road side, would have been better if it were set back further
