Reviews for Lake View Hotel
Review 1:Entering the room through the toilet. ducking your head to get through the doorway. Steep narrow steps to get to your room. Hard beds. unclean cutlery at breakfast. Only enough hot water for one shower. Husband had to give the shower amiss.
Review 2:Nothing's tall about this accommodation
Review 3:Nothing
Review 4:Friendly lady showed me to my room to see if I liked it, I was greated by a 4 poster bed and a view of the lake and mountains.nothing not to like.
Review 5:The owners were lovely, very friendly and accommodating. Good breakfast and if I'd needed it a restaurant on the premises. The views are beautiful.
Review 6:No WiFi in room but was in guest area and was pointed out at point of booking
Review 7:Owners are great hosts, simple touch as remembering your name, attentive but not intrusive which is a fine balance. Room was a described, clean, warm and cosy. Perfect for what I needed and I will stay again
Review 8:It's very old fashioned and in need of s refurb but it's clean and friendly
Review 9:Really nice little b&b with a stunning view, the staff were lovely and the food in the evening was also really nice.
Review 10:The rooms however really need updating, the beds were comfortable tho. Compared to most £90 family rooms, it's well below average, but as I said, it suited our needs for the one night. Another disappointment was that when it says bed and breakfast, or breakfasts included, it means a hot drink and toast! Cooked breakfast was extra. Whilst not expensive, it's annoying when you choose one hotel over another because the cost of a brekkie is included.
Review 11:This hotel was perfectly situated for our climb up Snowdon. The staff were lovely and bent over backwards to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. It was warm and comfortable. The main areas of the hotel are oldy worldy and this is lovely in the midst of a valley.
Review 12:Booked double room for 30 pd when I arrived I was told the price was 52 pd the price of meals 15 pd for fish chips pot of tea but was really tasty owners friendly hotel old fashion
Review 13:Honest and family run business.Basic but clean facilities with very nice and helpful hosts. It does what it says on the tin, B&B. Good value for the money
Review 14:Stairs are very narrow and steep. We did receive help with our luggage.
Review 15:Building is 300 years old and "quaint". We had a nice view of the lake from our room. Owners were very pleasant and helpful and the food was excellent.
Review 16:The rooms are in need of some serious update! The shower facilities are very low standard. Breakfast was supposed to be included in the price but nobody mention that you have to pay additional price for cooked breakfast?? It should be a standard service for the money paid.
Review 17:The location to the Snowdon very close.
Review 18:Bedroom cramped, only room for one chair. A bit pricey for the bathroom not en suite but down a corridor.
Review 19:Staff very friendly and helpful. Very convenient location for Snowdonia.
Review 20:The owners are two quite amazing people. Very welcoming the food is just amazing. We felt like part of the family. So comfortable and nothing too much trouble. We Will be back. Our room had a beautiful 4 poster bed (room 4
Review 21:Strange rules and asking for more than one thing at a time seemed far to much for the management to cope with. Manager needs to let his staff do there job.
Review 22:The food was excellent
Review 23:Excellent stay!! This is my second visit to the Lake View Hotel. Very warm and homely. Absolutely fantastic food. A real gem in Snowdonia!!! * * * * *
Review 24:Dark & dingy bedroom and pokey en suite. Very squeaky floorboards. Very poor lighting in room. Dangerously steep stairs. Garden view was of a steep hillside immediately outside the rear of the hotel. Too far from amenities of any sort. Not a hotel -- more a guest house. Very poor value for money.
Review 25:The evening meal was good.
Review 26:I think we got the room mentioned in an earlier review, where the shower head was broken, and was probably given the same story about waiting for a part from the plumber.... seriously, just fix it ! Had I read previous reviews first, I perhaps would have booked elsewhere. Unfortunately, although it was clean and presentable, it was very dated and in need of some TLC. The breakfast provided was adequate, but you would expect a cooked breakfast for the £40pppn that we paid, offering a cooked option at the breakfast table with extra cost is very awkward.
Review 27:Close enough to amenities, about a mile and a nice view over the lake.
Review 28:Mike and his staff where very welcoming to the two of us, and to all the guests. Breakfast was wonderful, served hot. Evening menu very good, with a great variety.
Review 29:This is a small B&B on the shores of Lake Padarn, just outside Llanberis, in the Snowdonia national park region of Wales. Mike and Carrie, the proprietors, are terrific. Carrie is a splendid chef and the meals on offer were delicious. My wife took ill the day we were checking out, and Mike insisted on driving us over to the village clinic.
Review 30:The hotel was very peaceful and excellent value for money. I came as a solo traveller to climb snowdon and while the hotel was a short walk from Llanberis, it was no problem at all. The owner Mike was very helpful and friendly and there was a great selection of evening meals. Breakfast was sufficient and plentiful with an option of a cooked breakfast at a surcharge.
Review 31:Clean, comfortable, with on site parking. Owners and staff very friendly and helpful. Good food as well for breakfast and dinner. Great location for Snowdon.
Review 32:The picture is misleading, hotel actually on a busy road, lake view limited. Very tired decor. we paid extra for the 4 poster room which was very small and dingy. Breakfast nice but didn't realise we had to pay extra for the cooked part. Should have read the small print.
Review 33:Close to Llanberris and Snowdon railway.
Review 34:Unfortunately we missed dinner, the kitchen closes fairly early which would have been good to have known when we checked in.
Review 35:Friendly staff and location was excellent, fantastic views and only 10-15 minute drive to the foot of Snowdon.
Review 36:Booked dble room with private bathroom. However bathroom whilst privateto us was at end of corridor which was frequented by other guests. Roomsvery very small, damp areas and badly needing updated. Also when bkgmake sure u decide buffet or cooked breakfast as we were presented withextras for cooked breakfast as had not had paper copy of our bkg whichapparently stated buffet breakfast included. Wld not use this hotelagain. Manager appeared unhappy with querying costs. Also cld notprovide a snack in evening even tho we had taken wrong turnings and a 4hr journey had taken 7 plus he'S. Just before retiring havingobtained a coffee we were told we cld have a snack if we so wished.
Review 37:The location to Snowdon.
Review 38:Mike the owner was very hospitable, friendly & helpful. The Hotel is comfortable and the breakfast in the morning was very good. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel to others.
Review 39:Not really a bad experience, but we did find the mattress uncomfortable, and the en-suite facilities very poky - probably ok for someone only spending a night or two, but not so good for longer stays
Review 40:The friendliness of the owners and the staff, and willingness to be flexible over our personal likes and dislikes. Although a limited menu, both breakfast and evening meal were excellent.
Review 41:Only one complaint - tried to book an extra night but they were already full, so we had to go elsewhere :-(
Review 42:Absolutely loved our stay at this hotel. Couldn't fault it - great owners and staff, great food, comfortable room with a wonderful view, very clean, quirky and cosy. Owners Mike and Carrie went above and beyond all expectations to be helpful and accommodating. Will definitely return.
Review 43:Windowsill in room was dirty upon arrival. The room was very dated. The shower head didn't stay fixed in one position so i had to crouch (i am only 5ft8) Mold on the shower sealant. The toilet cistern took an age to refill (well over half an hour) which meant it ran through the night if it was used. The breakfast buffet DOES NOT include a cooked breakfast, this is at an extra cost which is not very obvious when booking. The gentleman owner upon leaving decided to tell my partner of a story of the reason he takes card details as a deposit. Once, over a weekend a gentleman decided to cancel a couple of days before arrival as he and his family had to travel to the South of France in order to care for his sick mother. The owner charged them the full rate for the entire weekend, as he said its not his fault his mother fell sick and he would lose out. Hardly a story to brag about i felt.
Review 44:Location was ideal for a couple walking in Snowdonia. Parking was free and you could leave your car there all day if required. The ladies were very friendly upon arrival and over breakfast.
Review 45:Very uncomfortable bed.We hardly slept. Room needs 're refurbishing and was dusty. Breakfast average cereal, sliced bread toast and plastic packed jams. Ok for the cost but the place is tired
Review 46:Very good evening meals.superb steaks. Really good welcome
Review 47:The hotel doesn't appear to have had a lick of paint for a good number of years. My friends all complained the beds were lumpy and/or too stiff.
Review 48:Location was ideal. Shower was piping hot. Room cleaned each day and towels refreshed. Breakfast was good.
Review 49:Our bathroom was badly in need of renovation, with a faulty catch on the door, a cracked washbasin base and a broken toilet seat.
Review 50:The sitting room and dining room were pleasant, and we enjoyed the view of the lake.
Review 51:Excellent staff, friendly and helpful. Had knowledge of the area and places to visit. Fantastic food, didn't need to go anywhere else. Quiet and peaceful, beautiful surroundings.
Review 52:Wifi non existent but on web stated as available.Shower was useless, no water pressure.Advertised as bed &a breakfast but cooked breakfast is an additional charge.
Review 53:Sometimes the customer service from the staff was a little bit slow. But they were pleasant enough.
Review 54:The food was amazing and excellent value for money. The location was brilliant 15 min walk to the town which is simply breathe taking. Bedrooms were a good size and comfy. With all you could need.
Review 55:Nothing else really around it, say about a 20 minute walk in to llanberis.
Review 56:Pleasant stay, clean comfortable rooms, bit dated but we all got a good nights sleep. Food there was lovely - very comforting which was great after a day out in the rain!
Review 57:A ROOM WITHOUT A PROPER DOOR OR BOLT FOR THE TOILET. NO PROPER RECEPTION
Review 58:THE DAY WE REACHED, THERE WAS A GENTLEMAN WHO WELCOMED US SAYING THAT THE 'OWNERS' HAVE GONE OUT AND HE WAS TO RECEIVE THE GUESTS. HE WAS AN EXTREMELY NICE AND GENTLE PERSON WHO MADE US FEEL VERY COMFORTABLE AND GOOD. HE SHOWED US THE ROOM AND HELPED US IN CARRYING OUR LUGGAGE. A VERY VERY COURTEOUS GENTLEMAN
Review 59:We travelled from Portsmouth to climb Mount Snowdon for my birthday and it was the best birthday ever and part of this was because of Lake view hotel. The owners are a great couple, very friendly and helpful. Food is of good quality and lots of it. I can't understand any bad reviews of this place. It's not 5 star but doesn't pretend to be. We had a great time.
Review 60:The furnishings are very dated and the TV is very small. It all needs updating. Since staying there we have read several poor reviews and agree with most of them - especially the uncomfortable beds and harsh toilet roll. The room entered via the bathroom is very odd. Perhaps the owners need to start responding to some of the reviews before potential customers vote with their feet.
Review 61:The location as it is overlooking Llanberis lake.
Review 62:Pets all over the place and kitchen, not hygenic, not very clean, bathroom in horrible condition, refurbishment needed. No wifi in the room. Not worth the money.
Review 63:Good location, nice host.
Review 64:Rooms are a little dated but overall it's good value for money!
Review 65:Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, and took the time to speak to you. The food was as good as I've had anywhere. Would definitely go back!!
Review 66:Spiders in the room with large spider webs. No one available on check out had to wait a long time & keep ringing the bell.
Review 67:Basic hotel for the price. Friendly staff.
Review 68:Four poster bed was just the frame with dated and mismatched bed covering in a tiny , dark room. "Garden view" meant the window overlooked a tiny rockery.Included buffet breakfast was just coffee and toast. Not good value at all.
Review 69:Lots of free parking and location good.
Review 70:wifi didn't work in the room.
Review 71:great location.15minute walk into llanberis. Room lovely and clean. Breakfast was lovely. evening meal was very nice. Staff very helpful
Review 72:stairs very steep and narrow not suitable for anyone with a walking disablility.
Review 73:Friendliness of staff. Freshly cooked breakfast was of good quality food.
Review 74:Room clean but a bit drab.
Review 75:Very friendly welcome, good base to visit Snowdon and surrounding area - about a mile out of town so quiet. Had an evening meal which was good value, service was quick and efficient.
Review 76:It was very dated although it was fairly clean everything needs replacing and styling. The service was very slow and no use for travellers with any sort of disability as had to go up very narrow stairs to rooms.
Review 77:The location for snow don activities but was right on a busy main road.
Review 78:Lovely welcome from Mike and Carrie. The staff were very helpful throughout our stay . The Food was excellent with Great value for money .Bang tidy place to stay.
Review 79:Very Friendly and Obliging Staff, small cosy and individualistic hotel close to town. Food excellent and good value for money. We will use this hotel again next time we are in the area
Review 80:Room tiny and bathroom inadequate. Hard to get attention of anyone to check in or check out.
Review 81:Quite a good location, but right on the main road. Busy during the day but quiet at night. Bar seems to be tended by a rather lovely black labrador
Review 82:Rooms are a bit tired and cramped. Need sprucing up
Review 83:Manager and staff were good, nobody was around much in the afternoon to get advice from or ask questions, would have ate there that night but wasn't sure what they did so drove to Betsy Coed
Review 84:I hadn't realised that my B&B price included a breakfast buffet of cereal and/or yoghurt but not the cooked breakfast which was extra. Although at £3.95 this wasn't at all excessive and the cooked breakfast was nice, I would have preferred to find out before I paid the final bill. The decor was dated, but very clean. This didn't bother me, as long as you are realistic, I think you'll really enjoy your stay. i.e. you must remember you pay for what you get.
Review 85:The hotel is very well-priced for the facilities offered. There is sufficient parking which is essential as the hotel is about a mile from Llanberis centre. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and everything is really clean.
Review 86:We paid for bed & breakfast & it was detailed as buffet - no further details given. The only items on show were cereals, yoghurts & fruit juice. Each morning we were offered a cooked breakfast, however, at no point were we told that it would incur extra cost. When we checked out, we were presented with a bill for 2 breakfasts for each night of our stay.
Review 87:Beautiful view of the lake from the room
Review 88:Bedroom small and en suite facilities poor. Shower head loose and plastic shower. Very tiny wash basin. Nowhere to put anything
Review 89:Very friendly owner. Lovely food. Just right after a day's walking.
Review 90:Hotel seemed ver tired in need of a complete overhaul silly little things like very old mattress with springs pushing through no where to hang towels in the bathroom not even a toilet roll holder Think the couple who own it have lost interest
Review 91:Location was ok although there is no Lake View
Review 92:Mattresses were dated and pillows unsupportive. Wi-Fi restricted to a small area.
Review 93:Overall a excellent hotel, friendly staff, excellent food and value for money.
Review 94:I felt that some of the fixtures and fittings were ready to be replaced and were a little tired.
Review 95:The owners were lovely and very welcoming! The room was cosy and comfortable. I would stay here again!
Review 96:Wifi had hotspots downstairs but a holiday isn't about the Internet is it?
Review 97:Couldn't have asked for a better location and the breakfast was one of the best we have had! The owners were brilliant and Molly the dog was a great addition. Would recommend :-)
Review 98:Recently spent a night at Lake View hotel as a base for walking up Snowdon. Lovely location near the lake and approx 15/20 mins walk into Llanberis. The gentleman and lady who worked there (sorry can't remember their names) were very very welcoming and friendly. A credit to the hotel. We were in room 5 with a separate private ensuite (shower over bath) and the facilities were great. Tea/coffee and kettle, free toiletries and a hairdryer in the room. Bed and pillows so comfortable! To be fair, the room was a little tired in places but that really didn't bother us. It was very good value for money. We had a drink in the bar when we returned from our evening in Llanberis and enjoyed relaxing for an hour before going to bed. We didn't eat breakfast (decided to have a lie in) but the choices looked ample and varied. Would stay here again :)
Review 99:The room was outdated, along with the rest of the hotel, the bed wasn't particularly comfortable and the pillows felt old and uncomfortable. The shower was a plastic that felt like it had been imported from a caravan and it was clear that under the bed and bedroom furniture hadn't been hoovered in a very long time! Booking.com had stated that buffet breakfast was included, but when we were given the bill, the cooked breakfast that we'd had each morning had been charged on top.
Review 100:The people were very friendly and helpful and the cooked breakfast was lovely!
Review 101:Narrow stairs, difficult to carry suitcase. Every floorboard creaked. Difficult to shower. Poor TV Reception.
Review 102:Friendly owners. Close to Snowdonia. Easy to park.
Review 103:Room decor shabby. Bathroom badly laid out with bath in alcove and taps at far end. Sink pedestal obviously glued together. No condiments at breakfast.
Review 104:Nicely situated for walkers and exploring Snowdonia. Attractive bar and dining room. Nicely kept frontage.
Review 105:The neglected dying plants in the dining area - sorry just a pet hate of mine. Better to just remove them - just gives a really bad first impression. Apparently there was Wifi but it didn't reach my room. Bed linen immaculate - shower curtain had seen better days.
Review 106:Very easy to locate. The owners were lovely and couldn't be more welcoming - Mike was a wonderful host. Basic room but very clean. Fell in love with Molly the dog! Wine - try the Malbec - delicious!
Review 107:No wifi, very small and basic rooms. Narrow staircase difficult for luggage but worth it for the view.
Review 108:Friendly and helpful staff. Easy parking right out front. Convenient location for Mt Snowdon railway and lovely views over lake.
Review 109:*bathroom was tiny, but there was nothing the owner could do about it.
Review 110:*Staff members were lovely. *TV signal was brilliant. *Quiet location. *The hotel was very close to the Snowdon and the lake, very good access to attractions.
Review 111:The room was a little cramped for two adults, and bathroom a bit small. stairs to rooms a little steep. added cost for cooked breakfast.
Review 112:The warm atmosphere and friendly people. good location near Snowdon. For those (like us) coming to hike, it was a welcome place to rest up and enjoy a relaxing break after exertions.
Review 113:The room nr 1- disgrace, unfriendly staff and charged over £2 for 2 eggs on toast as it wasn't included in ridiculous breakfast. The hotel is 25min away from the town - you can also find better value for money in the town.
Review 114:No complaints.
Review 115:Location perfect for llanberis, 15min walk away, scenery beautiful when you walk to llanberis. Hotel dated but views beautiful. Food good and a bar :-). Would stay again.
Review 116:We had room 7, it was small but just ok,the shower room/toilet was disgusting with peeling wallpaper and mould, and the shower cubicle was literally falling to pieces with bits missing and what appeared to be burn marks on the floor.for the price we paid we didn't even get a cooked breakfast unless you pay extra for it (£3.95 each)
Review 117:Friendly staff Good evening meal Good location
Review 118:Buffet breakfast was cereal, charge for cooked was unexpected as situation not explained properly, this needs pointing out clearly to guests. Hotel unable to call local taxis?
Review 119:Expensive for what it is and said breakfast was included but it wasn't only cereal but this was not made clear
Review 120:The view, breakfast, although it wasn't clear what was included in the price
Review 121:No wifi in rooms , only at reception
Review 122:Gem of a hotel located in a wonderful spot to explore the Snowdonia mountains . Lot of activities to do nearby . The host Mike was wonderful and made the trip very comfortable . Would stay again .
Review 123:A small room, a very small bathroom, a very creaky floor, a 'four poster' bed that was just a bed frame (no drapes), poorly cooked greasy breakfast at a supplement, no fruit at breakfast, lack of access to our room between 11.00 am and 2.00 pm, the TV didn't work properly because there was no proper aerial, and very restricted range of channels. The bed linen was old, and towels were stained. This is NOT a hotel, it is a guest house.
Review 124:Walks in Llanberis and round the lake. Convenient for bus to Caernarfon. Snowdon path a short walk away.
Review 125:No bad experiences, although the stairs were quite steep, (the hotel was converted from three old cottages many years ago)and the shower was a wee bit small.
Review 126:I loved the warm welcome from Mike on our arrival, him and Carrie really seemed to want us there.
Review 127:The bed was incredibly uncomfortable and the room very cramped. All the furniture and bathroom fittings are very tired.
Review 128:Restaurant meal was OK and the owner was friendly.
Review 129:Price booked online was incorrect, charged more as booking.com did not show extra charge for double occupancy! Wifi only works in bar, not much choice on buffet breakfast. Room was very noisy (floors, pipework, heating ???).
Review 130:Very friendly couple.
Review 131:No internet in the rooms only available in the bar
Review 132:Mike was a great host many great tails. He looked after us really well. The place needs a bit of TLC as its stood still in time. Our room was small and hot. Not keen on bathroom though
