Reviews for Hôtel des Roches

Review 1:It was a very clean and comfortable place to stay at very close to our caves that we were wanting to see overall great management or owners very nice thank you for everything

Review 2:The room we had was in the rear house and needed to be renovated concerning the equipment (at least with a ceiling fan or better AC, a shower or at least a partitioning for the bath and a more modern toilet. An additional or first step should be a few paintings at the empty walls because it really looked loveless :-(

Review 3:The staff is very friendly and the garden, courtyard and swimming pool area is very nice arranged and manicured.

Review 4:Good sized room overlooking the lovely pool and gardens. Hotel bar. Quiet night's sleep even with windows open. Free private parking. Short walk into town for restaurants and the interesting museum of pre-history.

Review 5:Outdated interior of rooms and bathrooms facilities. Small toilet. Very narrow double bed (only standard double) For £100 a night without breakfast I expect more from the room.

Review 6:Great pool. Good location- close to restaurants, tourism hot spots and canoeing. Lovely setting.

Review 7:Nothing.

Review 8:The hotel is in a beautiful peaceful setting with a lovely pool, all the staff the staff were really friendly and extremly helpful. On the day we left the hotel, we were even helped by the hotel to transfer our luggage to our next destination.

Review 9:The staff were very friendly, location was superb with a relaxed atmosphere, the pool and surrounding grounds are a lovely setting.

Review 10:The beds were very small, the mattresses provided very little support, the room smelled musty and moldy.

Review 11:Staff is very friendly

Review 12:No air conditioning. It would be nice if breakfast were included in the price.

Review 13:Beautiful grounds. Good location. Friendly staff.

Review 14:There was nothing that we did not like

Review 15:The setting was unusual for a hotel with vast manicured grounds, pool, and setting in an unusual location of prehistoric history. The hotel personnel and management was extremely helpful and pleasant.

Review 16:No restaurant in the hotel. The pillows were hard and a funny size. I liked the long one but the little one was too small.

Review 17:The staff was friendly and truly excellent. The location was fantastic

Review 18:It was clean, charming in appearance, attractive rooms, a good selection of cold breakfast items, had English speaking and very helpful staff, located very close to the Prehistoric museum, and the historical center in the village.

Review 19:I am sorry but this hotel needs a revamp. We stayed in the add on building which has not been updated since the 70s I guess. The bathroom is not user friendly;old fashioned shower, no screen leaving the water going everywhere, cramped and no where to hang clothes while showering. There is no AC in room nor fridge and the room itself took me back to shared block at university. It was such a shame since the location is beautiful.

Review 20:The pool, reception.

Review 21:as it was very hot it would have been good to have had A fan in the room. also A fixed shower in the bathroom instead of A hand held one.

Review 22:it was very comfortable and the room was very clean. breakfast was good

Review 23:If it had been hot it would have been nice to have air conditioning but it was pleasant with the ceiling fan.

Review 24:Parking,location,staff,pool,setting, and location.

Review 25:If there was anything negative to say, then I would have to say I was initially disappointed with the room. The first room really was quite poor in every way. The following day we asked if we could swap - there was no problem and we did move into a nicer room. This wasn't the best room I have stayed in but it was the best at this hotel and had recently been refurbished. Having stayed in France a couple of years ago I think slightly sub-standard rooms is perhaps a common theme. This said, however, everything else about the hotel was too good to stop me from staying here again. I would give it 7:10

Review 26:I was really pleasantly surprised by: The Dordogne location in general and the hotel's position within the village itself. The owners The swimming pool - cleanliness, size and it's position within the grounds - really sociable and set within the lovely gardens. The lovely groomed gardens - looked really cheerful, pleasant and sociable. The village / town - although not the busiest had enough if you wanted to stay and eat there in the evening. Enough restaurants to choose from within 5 mins walk of the hotel. The breakfast area - inside or out to choose from - both really pleasant The breakfast itself - I could say there could have been more but to be honest by most similar hotel standards there was every bit as much if not more. On the whole I would give the hotel 7:10.

Review 27:There is no restaurant in the hotel. While there are plenty of restaurants in the nearby town just minutes away, I think for convenience sake especally after a long day of driving, sight seeing and looking after children or eldery tourists, it would have be an easier option to have the choice to stay and eat at the hotel rather than having to always go out.

Review 28:Hotel Des Roches is a lovely hotel. Ideally situated beside the town of Les Eyzies. The staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. I would hightly recommend it.

Review 29:Shower is one of those hand held units in the bath which makes it trickyhaving a shower. Prices in bar are expensive - hence it was empty everynight even though the hotel was full.

Review 30:Good location and easy to find. Photos on the website do not do theplace justice as its a very charming building complex. Staff friendlyand helpful - plenty of restaurants within a short walk

Review 31:Rudeness of cleaninbg staff. Lack of help with luggage. This is essentially a motel charging three star proces.

Review 32:It's situation overlooking the river. Helpfulness of reception staff.

Review 33:The staff was very helpful. The breakfasts were great!

Review 34:Friendly, great breakfast, lovely pool.

Review 35:Absolutly nothing.

Review 36:Everything, from the location to the breakfast, the ambiance, the staff and the owner. Well done!

Review 37:Nothing!

Review 38:Good staff, location, quiet, comfortable.

Review 39:Beautiful location

Review 40:No air conditioning and lack of additional fans - couldn't sleep because of heat.

Review 41:Staff/ friendliness/ pool/ location

Review 42:The Owner, a lovely Lady! nice gardens and Pool

Review 43:Tired rooms

Review 44:Staff brilliant. Pool great. Breakfast very good

Review 45:nothing

Review 46:everything

Review 47:Relaxed atmosphere and friendly laid back staff. Excellent swimming pool and lovely grounds with steam running through. Annex rooms give privacy too
